3.2.1 rooted: no more email notifications - Acer Iconia A500

I have 3.2.1 rooted (a500 btw) and I just realized that ever since getting it, my email app (stock) no longer notifies me of new emails. The settings are all set up properly and the app itself otherwise works perfectly fine... but it just doesnt show notices on my homescreen when I get new email.
Also, as it would probably come up as a possible solution, my wifi is set to NEVER turn off.
So, is this just me or a glitch?
If its me, then any ideas for fixing it?

Try uninstalling the email app and reinstalling which should reinstall everything in the right place and fix this I am curious how you rooted your Acer because I have searched these forums for weeks and cannot find a working download for the rooting files
gingerbreak doesn't work on 3.2
And timmydeans downloads all fail at 230 MB
Everyone seems to still be posting links that are affiliated with megaupload!!
I'll keep trying to fix your email problem
But without rooting my Acer I doubt I'll be able to reproduce the fault

I have no idea what happened, but after having this issue for several months, the problem suddenly corrected itself a few days ago.
All I did was add the email widget to my homescreen, which prompted me to set up my email account info again (for some reason). After that, voila! Notifications again!
Maybe I just had to clear cache and data, which I probably should've tried before posting here... I forgot to try that first though. Sorry.
As for rooting 3.2.1:

Be sure to thank TimmyDean because it is all thanks to him.

Market issues today?

Anyone else having issues with the market right now? When I try to download or update an app the download will appear to start and immediately stop. No errors reported. I have tried clearing market data even restored a nandroid backup from yesterday that was known to be good. Still the same problems.

I also uninstalled several app thinking maybe I was low on storage. Didn't help.

I was just about to download and install another rom because I've been having the same problem since yesterday... But guess im not the only one..
I haven't been able to download pocket legends or angry birds. There are some apps that work, so i'm not sure exactly what the problem is.
I just started having those issues

I thought it may be ROM issue, but I guess not.
I am having similar issues as the OP.
I wiped the cache and data for the market and did a reboot, was about to nandroid my backup from yesterday, even tried it through appbrain...nothing is working.
the apps i am trying to update is green power premium and yelp.
I can't get anything to download now. It was working fine 3 hours ago.

Same issue for the last few hours. Also, facebook won't load the feed.

same here starts to update then quits.
I'm happy it's not just me!
The market app was running fine this afternoon but tonight it stopped working. Apps will show as Downloading and the download icon will momentarily show up in the notification bar (for less than a second). After the icon disappears, the status changes to Download Unsuccessful.
This is happening on every app (new installs and updates). I cleared the data and cache of the Market app and rebooted a few times but I get the same result. I assume this has to be a Market issue...
Same issue here.

Does anyone know if there is some sort of "Android Market Status' page provide by google to see when it's up/down etc..?
Similar to:
http://www.google.com/appsstatus#hl=en
?? I spent over an hour trying to debug my phone before I thought to try and see if other XDA users had the problem..
I'm having the same problem.

Same thing here. It starts to download but immediately stops & disappears from the upper task bar. I was just about to wipe my phone but decided to search the forums... good thing you started this thread OP. Looks like the market is down.
Same thing here the app starts to download and then immediately stops with no errors

The market servers are located in south Korea. If you don't know whats happening down there, you don't deserve a working market...

erm guys?...

Ive just noticed that when i go into my apps in the new market after upgrading my phone to JPX it is only showing me 2 paid apps and none of the free ones that i have downloaded... which is a lot...
Is there a way of getting these back and also what happens when there is updates available? will i be notified of these or not?
I find a specific app in the markdet that i have installed it shows as installed, its just when i go into the my apps part.
Thanks for any help given.

Your thread title isn't good at all.
There is a thread with the same stuff just only a few lines downwards and the answer / solution to your problem:

The server error thing has nothing to do with the firmware, it's an issue with the market server. Started to happen last night.
So is everyone else having this problem? Tried everything recommended but its still the same

Market probs after 602. Found the prob, need solution

Ive had the same market problem that many have had. Apps wont dowload and all i get is the orange triangle. After swearing at this phone for a few weeks now, and trying everything I could think of and searching forums until my head hurt, I uninstalled the market update and went back to the old version. After trying to download an app, the same thing happened, but now it says "download paused, waiting for wifi". I did notice last week when I was at a hotel that it worked as long as I was on a wifi connection. So my question is this - is there a setting or something that we all have set wrong, or did the new update take it upon itself to only let us use the market when on wifi?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
This is a setting issue. Go into settings and look through the battery settings to find the appropriate check box to disable this.

Went to battety & data, data saver, unchecked data saver, and downloaded the first app since the update. THANK YOU!

XDA free not working on CM9

Before I start I will say that I have tried deleting data and cache for the app and uninstalling then reinstalling the app with no change.
When using XDA on the kf running the 2-19 build I cannot see enter any threads while logged into my account. If I login whenever I choose a thread I receive the message "unfortunately, xda has stopped. " and I must press report or ok. I have reported the issue to the market, but am hoping to find a work around. If I do not login I can go into any thread I want with no issues, but I can't comment or do anything worthwhile without logging in.
I am hoping I just need to change my build prop or something, then but any ideas would be great.

I realize this, but there has been a workaround for a long time: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436486&highlight=imei
It has to do with the IMEI so you can create a fake/test IMEI to make the standard xda app work. This worked great on every rom before ICS. Now on ICS the app works fine as long as I am not logged in, but when I log in it crashes. I have tried running the IMEI fix again to no avail.

Gmail crashing

Am I the only one? Just started to happen.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
I have had this since updating to ICS. The problem seems to pop up when you press on a notification message to go into an email app, particularly Gmail. Once you get the problem, you have to reboot for it to really go away. I've stopped pressing on the notifications to go into email and that has appeared to help, but my main account is not Gmail so I'm not using Gmail regularly to know for sure. Also, if you are using the Gmail widget, some people say that, after the ICS update, you should remove the old Gmail widget from your homescreen and add it again.
Have you guys try wiping data for the Gmail app
Yes, works for ASUS email app, but doesn't do anything for Gmail.
Thanks for the heads up

I'm having the same issue... has anyone found any solid fixes? If not, maybe pressure should be put on ASUS to remedy the issue, they clearly didn't get the update quite right.
My Gmail app crashes (actually 'hangs' would be a better description of what happens with mine), but never so badly that I have to reboot -- usually just a force close inside settings does the trick for me.
Ditto. So many bugs in this ICS update. No help from Asus yet.

I've found that when using the wake lock app, not only does it prevent the random reboots, etc, but Gmail seems to behave as well. Soon as I disable wake lock, its not long until gmail acts up

The first bullet: partial. Then the bottom 2 boxes ckd. You have to activate it on the next screen, then done.

I have found the exact opposite with wake lock. When I have it running, my gmail acts up. Since I deleted it I have been alright.??

Yea, go figure. Nothing to lose any sleep over. At least it doesn't reboot or SOD when on wakelock
Have any of you guys tried fixing permissions? I did and it seems to have worked so far.

I have fixed permissions, and it only worked for a while. It seems everything I have tried only works for a while and then the problem comes back. It also seems that on a fresh reboot there is no problem, but after numerous hours the problem comes back?

That's the behavior I get. Less frequently when using wakelock
"Fixed Permissions" ?? Howto?
Yeah, I'm seriously considering going back to HC. ICS seems more snappy but that becomes moot when we have RR's, SOD's and gMail crashing left and right.
What a shame. ICS on my *unsupported* SGS runs like a charm. WTF happened that on a device which gets an "official" ICS has such great problems..

Completely agree with you. Asus released another update today, but my gmail still crashes left and right. Apparently it breaks root too, so now I can't go over to CM9 like I really want to...

I was having random Gmail crashes and slowness also with ICS. The firmware update yesterday seems to have resolved any issues I was having with Gmail.
