Tell him to put it in a bag of rice for a few weeks without the cover or battery on

Ok this isnt the best way to do it, first thomassfca needs to find out how much it costs to fix his phone, then we need to translate that to either GBP or USD, then start a donation thread for the amount, once the right amount has been pledged, you can ask people to donate the money. I will pledge 10GBP or 15USD now

Wow, didn't expect this guys! Thanks so much!
I was told it would cost me atleast 180 euro.
This equals 236 USD or 150 GBP.
Wil try the rice thing too, but doubt it will help, as the phone is a slider..

Not to give anyones' hopes up,but maybe you don't need 180 for it? It's common in my country that phone shops tell you lies and just take money/parts and get huge profit... Now this is just a wild guess, but if only half of the screen (50%) is damaged that maybe the wires are damaged? I mean if water got into the touchscreen part it should completely break the screen and I think this is why:
If there is water/damage in any part of the screen, then it should cause the screen to think there are 1000 of inputs being performed, and since our screens wont register more than 6-8 inputs at one time it wont allow any input on the top half? Maybe the input is not being properly transfered to the other part of the phone?
But then again...

Not sure if they do that too here.. I've been to a major phone company. (The Phonehouse) Prefer going there instead of going to some ****ty local phone store xD

why don't you go to Sony ericsson service center.. .i bet your warranty isn't over yet coz this phone comes with 1 year warranty and it hasnt been a year since its launch. i had same issue of rain water and SE guys replaced the motherboard and display for free.

You can get a brand new Xperia play in the uk for 150GBP and thats from a highstreet shop. could prob get one from the net cheaper. But good cause like the work you have done.

Hmm really.. Could consider that too if enough people would donate some money! Will see

Good luck with that
While the intent to be helpful is there, actions speak louder than words and these forums are pretty silent.
My advice to you would be to seek means to repair your play on your own.
I believe at least 2 plays were donated out so far, 1 was either sold or stolen and the other did more for development of the play when he didnt have one.
Mad props to both gents though, no disrepect, just keeping it real.

If the repairs cost actually 150 quid, and a new phone sets you back the same, you're much better off telling people to donate for a new phone.

I can donate 20$ if you can organize more to contribute.

Yeah although I started this thread I can't aftually donate . Barely enough money to Live.

TC,
Why are you trying to sell your (broken/faulty/stolen/illegal) products here?
Good day.
in the picture you can clearly see it's not broken especially in the second one where the device is actually on... That was a very ignorent and prejudice post... if you're not interested... then ignore the post and go away....
Never make assumptions
because you will be an ass and the umm... will shun you!

TC,
It's nothing personal or prejudiced. It's called common sense. Something is clearly wrong with the phone. And it's also because of common sense (in other people) that you still have 2 remaining, as opposed to having already sold them all in your initial advertisement in which you were told specifically not to post more than one advert.
So I maintain my position, something is wrong with the phones and you're trying to minimize your loss by selling them off cheap.
Good day.
ok.. nothing personal
well yeah... so i posted something a couple days ago and sold one already? ok
and im sure the mod meant one advert that day... obviously posting so many in one i can udnerstand would be a problem... but if i come back a couple days later to repost shouldnt be wrong.... should it? especially if the other post is forgotten by my standards
also... im unsure on what you mean by cheap? how much do you want to pay for it? the reason i have so many are due to impulse for good prices... ive seen them go on ebay for a lil over 600 brand new... mines are used so i think im giving a competitive price

ebf_flores,
Alright, I'm curious then. Why exactly do you have 3 X1i-s to begin with, and why sell them off now? And what are their production weeks?
Cheers.
bought one when they were first released in America for about 800
last month saw a deal to get one for a lil less than 600 hundred and had to get it dont know why cause of the price (sold my ipod touch and sony mylo to get some money for it)
then a friend of mine saw them and decided he want one so i got one for him but then the time the thing got here he decides he cant afford so i stuck with it
now if i tell the reason im for certain you will use it against me... right?
the last two I have say 08W46 on the back under the battery... the one i sold was 08W44

Like I said, it's nothing personal. Now that you've explained more on how you came to own so many X1is, I take back my initial post and apologize if I came out as rude and offensive.
Good luck trying to sell them then, it's unfortunate that you have those production weeks. Whatever the reason you are trying to sell them for, I know it won't be as good as it can be, so if you'd rather not share it, that's fine.
Cheers.
understood... although it was a bid rude in my opinion but i guess i misunderstood your point of view
well there's no cracks on them by the stylus or on the battery so i dont think i got any of the bad ones... i can take pics if anyone wants to see em
well... my reason is i crashed my car (Audi A4) and semi totaled it.... i got another one (salvage... missing transmission) bought from New York and while i was able to afford the car itself... shippin from new york to my location is about a grand and something so i need to let these go to recover the cost

I'm about to rage on Best Buy for Zagg install

So I went to best buy a few hours ago to get a screen protector for my newly replace Evo. Sadly there was not much of a selection so I went with the Zagg invisible shield one. As I as about to go to the front to pay the mobile person said that he could install it for me if I wanted for $7. I said ok why not I hate installing screen protectors anyway. So he got it on and it was crooked so I told him that it's no good. He tried again and used more solution spray. I got a little worried about the amount he was using and told him maybe that's a little too much spray. He said don't worry it will be ok. Well flash forward to now, I just turned on my Evo and guess what? Solution leaked under the screen!!! I'm about to flip!

You are about to have a hard time with them... they are complete dumb asses at bb.. they are gonna try to play lost with you, just ask for the manager as soon as you walk in. He/ she will play dumb too, then ask for the district manager, then they will get you a little white box out the cabinet, say hello to your new evo!

LOL, why did you walk out of the store without checking first. Huge mistake on your part. If there was an error, it should have been fixed right then and there no problems.
I dont know if there is any garentee to protect you. But good luck, hope the fix it or at least get a refund.

Cheesy is CHEESY!
Honestly, sometimes it takes a push ... a verbal push, if you will. You know how many people probably have other people put screen protectors on - for whatever reason - and they just suck? And they just walk out with em?
Just being real.
There are people that won't stand for horse **** ... and there are others that will. It's not about "appearing" tough here or there ... it's like getting anything applied / installed and it not being right but "dealing with it." Shouldn't even have to ask. ****ing say something. LOL
Internet tough guy aside ... and you clearly jumped the gun.
Thanks though, I've seen you post before.\
edit: on that note; do you do anything but post bull**** and / or ask questions?
Honest question.
Because, honestly, I see nothing but - and in this case, nothing but a half decades old picture and bull****-run-of-the-mill-every-other-god-damn-forum-thread-post picture. And dude, you really did use that prematurely ... the bandwagon you're jumping on - this "internet tough guy" **** that has been going on for a while - AROUND HERE AT LEAST, is starting to get out of hand. In the way that people are starting to "diagnose" too much as such. It's a Forum. You clearly don't show up looking to impress the English Majors. Most folks are not worried about spelling errors and "complete sentences." Most, read; the majority - and even the people you admire and adore - couldn't care less about that ****.
So you post your cute pictures.
I hope you like mine.
Please, in the future, if you are going to TRY and be demonstrative ... don't post bull**** before the fact. Or at least as often as you do ... because, well, just ..... no.

True.
But, to be fair ... those "liquid" applicators can throw a first timer for a loop ... or whatever.
It can be daunting because you don't know how much / little to use. And I've seen people go overkill with that ish.
That being said ... yes, do it yourself. That's the best way. I mean, these assholes' as BB know little more - if anything - than you do. At least when it comes to their "mobile department."
With that being said about that being said ... should you be so worried, I've heard of others having them do it and when / if they **** up then they are obligated to grab a new one and begin again. If I saw dude doing the same one over and over I'd say something ... can never be embarrassed to question someone who should know what they're doing.
It was like a kid, asking someone to cut out a cut in their griptape ... once I started to work a shop ... **** that, I nailed it or if dude asked for something stupid I said do it themselves. Always worked. I mean, your average consumer can only be so competent.
Make sure the solution isn't just under the protector and will evaporate in a day or so, I've heard that in the past referring to these type of accessories.
i would try using ghost armor. its the best screen protector out there. i had my whole evo done in ghost armor. they use the same material on helicoptor blades to keep it from chipping from flying debre. and you get a lifetime replacement as long as you have your phone. google it for a store near you
Same thing
Happened to me, left a visible shadow like mark on my screen for over a month, out did eventually go away completely,
I also left fingerprints on it so I went to the mall and a zagg booth replaced and installed for only 5 bucks
Zagg makes a good product for protection, it does however seem to yellow after time, of course that could be the oil in. my hands doing that.
Also the feel of it isn't as smooth, it kinda interferes if your a swyper like me.
In closing I will say my phone doesn't have evan a blemish on it, looks as good as it does second week of launch.
Swyped from a galaxy far far away......

Non-corporate stores: helpful

Yep.
Oftentimes we see advice to "go to a corporate store" or only deal with them for serious matters, but in fact, non-corporate stores can be a big help. Here in my area, the local corpstore got sold, and bought by a 'premium reseller'. With that, I found out yesterday, came a repair center. Awesome - I needed one. My headphone jack had become quite useless.
I went in, and within 20 minutes, one of the employees had replaced my headphone jack. No damage, no defects - 100% perfect. And much quicker than I expected. Thanks to TEP, I walked out without paying one red cent.
Why post this? Primarily to counterbalance the feedback on noncorp stores and Sprint repair centers that has come about here. Another user had his Epic all but destroyed by a sloppy solder job - quite unfortunate. But it's worth recognizing that such cases are a minority.
Fun fact: the employee who worked on my device built his Epic from a bunch of spare parts. Cool.
Andrew at the Auburn AL location: if you're reading this, thanks again. Got anything custom on your device? And did you notice I actually had both of Yelawolf's major releases ready in the music player?
Very cool. Good info to have. Also, I find It interesting you're in Alabama. I am as well.
Edit: Might as well. Roll Ride.

I'm the guy who had his phone destroyed by a faulty solder job.
Despite that, I was forced to go back to the very same store with the replacement epic a week after when it's screen crapped out. I ended up getting a good chuckle with the repair tech (different guy) as he put the guts from my new phone into the case of my old phone I since it was still in their inventory. Now I have a frankenphone of my own lol.
Overall it was a good experience at the end of the day.

AMERICANS! Lol..I'm in Georgia, and I suffer the Epic as well..well, did suffer it, on my fourth one now (first two I thought had faulty compasses because the SkyMap app would not show anything but UP even when pointing down- did you know when you calibrate your devices' accelerometer in the settings you tap the button and then place the phone SCREEN DOWN on a level surface to get it calibrated? Neither did the guys at the store...or I for that matter, until phone number 3, hmmm).
Any of you guys have a riffbox?

I've been to 3 corporate stores and 2 non corporate in the last few days. Sadly none of them were able to help me out but all were courteous and helpful. I usually go to the non corporate store down the street when my Sprint phone (various) have needed service and they've done a wonderful job.
Back story on the current problem in case anyone has any advice. A few days ago my epic had a sad accident where the LCD has developed a crack causing it not display anything. ADB tells me the guts are fine and the gorilla glass doesn't have a mark on it. Sprint told me with TEP that screen replacement is free (IF they have a replacement screen around). Short of it no one has a replacement screen in Central Ohio it appears and no one will just order a screen. So it appears I'm stuck with the $100 deductible on the TEP... sucks
Asurion (I believe that is right) sent me a brand new phone with activation instructions and a return mailing envelope for my DOA phone. Just call the folks at customer service and explain to them your problem- no need to go anywhere, they should send it right to you..and you won't be without a phone for the RMA/repairs! I am sprint with TEP too, if that is what you are on they should do the same for you.

Thanks for idea I'm looking into them. The online portion bounced me saying for this kind of issue talk to a Sprint Maintaince location... I'll try giving Asurion a call tomorrow and see if I can get a better answer.

I just called Sprint Customer service..I dropped my phone and the screen wouldn't even come on, though touch was still active (could tell by haptic feedback). The Sprint CS will arrange it, not sure if calling Asurion direct would accomplish anything, I never did. As far as I can tell, they handle the warranty for the sprint TEP plans.
I no longer go corporate since the local reseller moved and upgraded its status and can now do almost everything corporates can. It saves me about 110 miles of driving.

If you're unemployed and taking care of two kids (alone even?) then why on earth would you spend your last money on a mobile phone...? I'm just asking...
Anyway that looks like you've driven over it with a car or something.
If you don't have insurance then I guess your only bet is to buy a new screen with digitizer, which unfortunatelly costs around 200€, as you've already said.
E: Or buy a cheap Samsung / Nokia basic phone and start looking for work

Sorry mate...but seriously, please rethink your priorities.
Woah. Tough luck there. But if you don't have the money to fix the Galaxy Note, you shouldn't have considered buying it in the first place.
What's the point having a cool Android device if you can't support your family properly! Seriously, I have heard people in Japan sold kidneys to get the iPad. I hope you are not as dumb as that.
first of all,... i can take care of my children financially and in other kinds too ,.. and i was taking it with an contract it was 0 euro so its not that much money ,.. and android devices are my only hobby so everyone has his hobby ,.. and whatever wanted to look if someone has a hardware broke device to sell it to me less then 200 euro but it looks like noone understand what i mean and write stupid things about my family ,.. whatever !
and no i would never sell any organs or something crazy for any kind of stupid technical things !
and belive me i support my kids in any kind !

if your looking to get hold of a bricked note (sounds like a good way to go about it) you might want to change your thread title so those with a brick note would be more likely to view the thread and help you

Have you contacted Samsung? I wrote off a display on my HP48GX in my engineering undergrad (~$500 in the late '90s), totally my fault, called HP and explained what happened they sent me a new one. Loved HP until all this apotaker crap.
Brings me to my next question - What in the world happened to it? I'm finding my Note really easy to drop for some reason, and mangled the display on my XT720 last week by dropping it - but Gwaaa! How in the world?!
IT Fell out of my pocket and a car ran into IT! STUPIDITY
Edit : called Samsung and they want 225 euro with installing the Display but they say they are fobidden to sell Parts which cannot applied from eveybody! ,...
So No free Display Form Samsung
And back in the 90 i got a free New unlocked handy from a company only with telling them its broken (Mine was but there where some people abusing that!)
You can replace the display and sell the phone.
After that you can buy something more affordable.
The poor guy has a problem with his phone and he explained it clearly and yet some members start giving him lessons about life and how to spend his money. We don't know the real situation and yes he too has the right to have galaxy note. He is facing now some financial problems.
To make the long story short. Either help the guy or don't write ridiculous comments.
That's my 2 cents

thanks !!! +1 for that post !!!
I'm not going to tell you how to live your life, i think that you're not the only one that spend some money on this phone, i know i did !!!
For solving your problem maybe i can give you a hint: if you know (or someone knows) people in the repair bussiness of mobile phones and if you get lucky you just might get a display.... Ther must be already some notes that are beyond repair and with a little help from "the inside".......... You can always tell the person who gets it that they may do the repair (and earn some money).
Otherwise pray that there is a good samaritan that will send you a display / whole phone for you to use.
Wish you the best of luck in solving this.

yeah was my my intend too but i went to my handy repair friend and he knows others and he told me its almost impossible to get a display for it becouse here they are very rare and if someone has one they sell it for like 180 euro and if he knows one he will tell me but it doesnt feel right what he was telling me , so idk !!!
im still hoping !!!
thanks for ur help guys
I mean who gives a damn what tgis guy does its his kids abd if they are happy we shutup !
Lets not start saying the good and the bad iam sure we can all calculate our situations fairly, good luck with it you should watch these things better as I think a phone is one of the most needed and important things in our lives.
Anyway best would be to buy a bricked phone as many mentioned or if any would just give you just his screen even for less since you don't need all parts as I understand.
There are posts on how to disassemble the phone you could even replace it your self if you have the right tools, btw make sure tge buttons work home button most important.
Good luck mate hope the best. Cheers

I'm not sure if you mentioned it, but do you know that it's just the display? I mean, worst case scenario would be to put a new screen in and then find out that the main board is beyond repair too.
I have a screen/lcd combo sitting around my house. Never got around to selling it. Ended up converting my note into a white version. Maybe we can work something out. Contact me.
2 things about the lcd
1. It was a DIY job. I broke mine, replaced it and used it for about a month prior to converting to white.
2. Back button is iffy. It works just not consistently. Probably could take it apart and reapply the glue. I used button savoir(free market app) and it never bothered me.
I cant give it away for free, but we can work something out.
PM me if your interested.

If your looking for games, there's a dedicated thread in the apps and themes section. There's also a list of the best free games for the N7.
I can post links to them if you want
BTW, no worries. Just glad I could help someone, my good deed for the day
Once again thanks very much.
One thing I wanted to ask is my n7 has been shipped today but how do I know if im getting a white or black one? Im really excited for it to arrive

You get a black (or brown - what ever it is..) one, because the white backcover was only a special edition for the I/O presentation.
The most of the reviewed N7's are withe because only the guys at the I/O got them.
It will be the black version, they stopped making the brown version a bit ago. If i read correctly, I don't think the brown ones were actually assembled by ASUS, not too sure about that. (I got the brown one from Tesco last month, didn't know it was brown until it was mentioned on here and I looked on the box )
EDIT: Like flomitdreio said above, you won't get a white version.
I have received mine today but guess what. No charger, open seal, fingerprints all over the screen
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
Really unlucky :crying:, I take it that your sending it back? If you get a replacement and there are fingerprints on the screen and the seal is open it might just have been quality control checked by ASUS. Also, If you bought it from the Play Store, did you tick the option to have your details on it when you were paying for it? This might also be the reason for the broken seal and fingerprints.
It doesn't excuse there being no charger though...
I have called google theyve passed on the details to the department that deal with it and will apparently contact me in a couple of days. Honestly I wouldnt have minded but the fact theres no charger its outraging...

Theres wrapping for the plug. But no plug.
Now when I spoke to google first, the cssn number on the box was not in my name or for my details. The second time I called nothing of that was mentioned however, when I look on the delivery note I got the same serial number. Atm I cannot see any issues, lets see what google says.
So angry
Theres also scuffs on the box
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
An update. Just got off the phone again to google. The lady was I gotta say very helpful and told me my cssn number is actually linked to two devices somehow. So basically now the "specialist team" have this info and will get back to me in 48 hours I was told. I asked if the replacement is a new device or a refurb. She told me its a new device. I will apparently receive an RMA email which will contain a link to order my replacement
Do you guys think I should play around with this n7 until replacement??
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
Shame that you've got a bad experience with ASUS before you even turn the device on. If I were you, I'd use it until they send you a new one out. Just don't root it or do anything like that. You can always restore it to the factory settings. Can't do any harm to play around with a device that you've paid at least 169 quid for.
Looking at the box, I'd say that someone had it before you and have returned it for some reason. Mine didn't have any scuffs or scratches on it......

That was my exact thoughts. So hopefully ill hear from them soon. Lol I paid 199 quid for mine.lol so its like a lot of mony for me considering I dont earn much. I even applied for a credit card with a limit of 250 quid and well this what happens

I hope that you get a good one soon. It's really a top notch tablet when you get one that works well, especially for 200 quid. Good luck with getting a perfect one back. (mines got a bit of screen flicker, so I'm half and half to return it until I know that I'll get a good one back)
Just out of interest, does it say on the box that it's brown or back?

Hi i just checked my box and i can confirm that it says brown. When i get my replacement i will also then let you know what it says on the box.
Thanks for your reassurance guys. I cant wait to get my OWN new nexus 7 that i can use to full functionality and make it my own. I have been using this ome, though there is nothing wrong with the device i.e. screen lifts or flickers however i am loving it so far.
I recommend you Xda Premium

Just a quick update guys. Received an rma email not too long ago but cant process the replacement order due to insufficient funds. What shall I do guys? I have to wait two weeks till I get paid or can I call my credit card company that I used to buy my n7?
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
If I were you, I'd ring Google and tell them that your not getting paid until in two weeks, and that you'll have to sort it out then. There's no point messing around with the credit card when everything can be sorted easily in 2 weeks.
I suppose if everything if perfect with the device except from the charger, could you just ask them to send a charger out. You'll still keep the years warranty in case anything does go wrong.........
