I am quite busy at the moment but if you are patient,
i will find time to work on exclusive and unique mods for your daily chats
I helped a guy to go from the simple theming to real development of the apk >
he put out of his thread like a ****...

Regarding the message bubble design you requested. In order tho have light text on a dark bubble requires decompiling/recompiling the Whattsapp apk and editing the xmls to change the text color. I have tried that in the past, but with little success .. as Whattsapp doestnt seem to be able to recompile properly with the conventional decompiling methods. That is why you will see most mods have only black text on lighter bubbles. Not so easy to do an inverse design.

I am well aware of how to decompile and recompile apks.
The issue is with the Whattsapp apk recompiling after editing the Styles.xml within the res values folder. As many themers have found, there is an issue with recompiling WhatsApp apk after performing such edits. No one seems as yet able to successfully recompile the apk and alter the message bubble text color. You are doing well if you can change the text to inverse using ApkTool.
I myself prefer APK Manager than ApkTool as its command line structure is much better laid out and has more options.

Are you able to change the black bubble text to white (within the speech bubbles)....?
The trouble lays in that part of the modifications.
I have yet to see anyone successfully recompile the Whatsapp.apk (myself included) and have the changes (black text to white) actually work after finalization.
Many have tried editing both the Style.xml and Color.xml.. but the it just don't take after recompiling. The person who cracks this is going to make everyone happy.

My answer :
Wasnt you happy when i was posting all my posts off topic from the theming of your themes ?
Did i help you or i just imagine your words below ?
Without my help, you would never be able to go deeper in your own theming which comes now to a real development via xmls and smalis !
I wanted sincerely to help you but hey, like you said, you seem to be more proud or ashame for that... i still remember how you posted in my threads with rage and crap **** ...
dont count on me ever to help you and wrong if you think that we dont need help from someone else...

If you come by my thread and like my work, i ask nothing more than a little thanks for the effort.
If you dont, then just give me credits if you use it.

Thanks for the feedback, working for me and reported by others as working too.
Download and place the zip into your sd card
Uninstall your existing whatsapp app
Use Rootexplorer to drag the app into /data/app or /system/app
Set permissions to all by long press on the app to pop up the menu
reboot the phone and you will see your whatsapp application installed in the grid.
Do you still have place on /system ( internal memory ) ?
Do you have already a whatsapp apk in /data/app ? If yes, it will overwrite the one of /system.
Did you move the app to sd ? ( a2sd scripts or whatever )

Lockscreen mod with Customizable Background
for OpenDesire and DeFrost
I've modded the framework and enabled custom lock-screen backgrounds. I've currently got it working on my custom mods for OpenDesire and DeFrost.
This is not lockbot or widgetlocker, this is a modified vanilla lock-screen.
Please don't attempt this if you don't understand all of this. I am not responsible for any damage this may cause. I recommend doing a nandroid before playing around with this.
This will make your screen look silly when answering a call from a locked screen. There is nothing I can do about this.
I've included 2 lockscreen images for the black mod and templates for both black and white. If you are using the stock sliders, you don't need to use a template, just make sure the image is the correct size.
Here is proof:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
What you need to have
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
HTC Desire, S-Off'ed and running OpenDesire 4.0.34-37 or DeFrost 5.6
Ninjamorph and dependencies
My Custom framework
Photoshop/GIMP.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
What you need to do
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Flash one of my themes through recovery, ensuring signature verification is off.
Let phone restart
Bask in glory of new lockscreen for a second, then realise you can't read the status bar.
Extract the .xml files to \SDcard\CMTheme\ and apply either through the settings menu (Settings > CyanogenMod Settings > User interface > Tweaks extras > ) then restart for configuration to load.
Enjoy new theme
Make a lockscreen that is 480*800, If you want it to look best, place it under either of the layers photoshop. If using the white lock widget use the white psd file.
Place lockscreen on SDcard.
Open Ninjamorph
>New Project
Navigate to system>framework>framework-res.apk>res>drawable-hdpi>lockscreen_bg.png
Select the file you would like to have as your background
Select "finish project" select framework-res.apk, then "yes", "yes" or "no", "yes", "yes". Let phone restart to new lockscreen background.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you don't have an S-OFF'd Desire
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Download one of my themes.
Open the file in an archive program (I use 7zip) and navigate to framework\framework-res.apk\res\drawable-hdpi\. Locate "lockscreen_bg.png" and extract this file.
Edit the file, put it back in the archive, flash theme.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alternatively you want other framework
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, here it is guys. My first attempt at a Metamorph and only for OpenDesire.
You can only use this on stock, or simple themes. My definition of "simple theme" is one which is only changed icons, this means no battery mods which use more than the 6 steps that is the default, ie. no *.xmls are edited. or...
you will get stuck in a boot-loop
Instructions.
Download "custom_lockscreen.zip"
Open Metamorph and point it to this file.
Select apply all - it should reboot into your new background.
Then use ninjamorph to change background as outlined above.
As this is my first attempt at a metamorph, please be sure you backup before testing it. I am not responsible for anything going pear-shaped.
Reserved, just in case

This is AWESOME!

EDIT: Here's a screenshot of the lockscreen in action. Looks GREAT!

Not currently. It requires modding the xmls in the framework of the rom. As far as I know, this will require each rom to be decompiled then edited then recompiled which I don't have time to do and/or maintain.

Can't you add your code to Cyanogen or Open Desire or anything like that & maybe they can create a new option? I know nothing about developing but I know that they can merge your code within android.
does this work also with your white theme classglass?
can i use aswell the white.xml file for that lockbar?

Yeah I too know nothing about developing. I have no idea how to go about this. I tend to leave this to more capable people as it takes me too long to code anything. I only really post what I come up with and use, its become a bit of a hobby. I don't have time to port/merge code, as I don't require it and it's not worth my time.

Not as yet. If you use the "flat_white.xml" file you should get a white statusbar, but the icons will look inverted.
I probably won't have the white version up until late this week.

My own theme, see sig. You can find the wallpaper here. The clock is a mod of the in-built analogue clock.
Anyway to get this to work on the Evo?
Defrost?
Is there an easy way to get this working on DeFrost?

Did you just rebuild from source with a different theme?
Did you modify any of the code to "make it the way you want"
Please share how this differs from CM7 besides the Theme
so CM7 with a new theme that doesn't use the theme engine. brilliant! why didn't I think of this as a way to get noticed?
edit: gapps are included? as is basically forbidden with CM7-related ROM's? and good job thanking all the devs who did the real work for this (atinm, guiper, codeworkx, coolya, unhelpful, etc).
edit 2: no disclaimer about three button recovery and how not having it will leave you with a pretty brick. this is a beautiful thread.

explain how this is different than the CM7 already available? you're using codeworkx's kernel (clearly not building it yourself) as the build process also builds the kernel.
you added an app or two? congratulations, welcome to the world of WinZipDev'ing
edit: as atinm put it "github or it didn't happen"
Agreed! Its a decent theme, but bad work on the whole "building a rom part." maybe he's just trying to get ahead of the curve before everyone starts pushing out renamed CM7 with fancy names and themes

Thank you, looks much better. Deleting Settings.odex wasn't necessary, I flashed the zip and deleted later just to stop Settings from FCing.
works beautifully. file for deletion is in system/priv-app/settings/arm just in case anyone can't figure it out. Any chance of material dark notifications too OP?

Y do u want to change?

I have exam on Monday. Then holidays for ten days. So I will do after Monday.
Nothing wrong with expanded status bar, thats material dark already. Incoming notifications appear under in material light (white backround),thats what i was looking at. Cheers for listening, looking forward to update.
@Vivek_Neel BEAUTIFUL. What about an inverter. I saw this "eclipse 2" cydia tweak on my brother's iphone 6 it turns the whole UI dark. Includes many things other than settings too...
Also I think you forgot to add the status bar tint accordingly with the color but anyway this is amazing

Keep up the good work
Hello and thanks for your work.
I just have litte bugs on wifi and bluetooth.
Waiting for your update.
P.S : i'm really stupid, i want to revert back but i save the settings.odex but note the settings.apk can anyone giveme the original settings.apk ?
Very good idea! Thanks. Can you do dark dialer and contact Also???
This didn't work for me. I'm using the LRX21O build posted by Tasssadar in the MultiROM thread. I'm using it as a secondary ROM. I installed it, flashed root, booted and used a file explorer to delete Settings.odex from /system/priv-app/arm, rebooted and Settings forces closes on boot. Tried rebooting back to recovery and wiping cache and reflashing the zip with no luck. I checked again and the odex file isn't there. I'll grab a logcat for you soon.

Manually push it and see.
rw-r-r permission
Can anyone give me the original setting.apk ? I don't save it.
Pushing manually did not work either. Same effect. Made sure permissions were correct. Logcat attached. I just tried to open settings a couple times to make the FC happen.

it's not possible to make one theme work for all, for example if i used your theme with Cataclysm ROM i will lost the Cataclysm setting tab inside the setting app, and it might not even boot because your framework-res.apk is incompatible.
we are changing the color.xml and style.xml values in Value folder and after recompile the app those files will be inside the resources.arsc file and what inside this file is different from ROM to ROM and that's why you have to do it one by one.
anyway most of the ROM developer don't touch those files so if you just decompile the apps and replaced the files with your's every thing should go smoothly.
try that and if you need further help please PM me
Not a major problem but the Navigate text is quite hard to recognize..

Yeah this is exactly what i was trying to say, @androidous ... it sucks. but this will have to be the route we have to take for lollipop, unfortunately
unless, like i said earlier, someone more experienced comes up with a breakthrough of some kind -- im not holding my breath for that one though
There is an easy work around for the black on black and white on white text. Its not perfect but it gets the job done.
Settings->Accessibility->High Contrast Text.
This will put a line around the text to help make it stand out more.

Flash the system.img from the original rom.zip file
If / when there is another update to the ROM then we would have to revert the system.img back before flashing correct?

Just dirty flash the whole ROM (and updates) again. The original ROM zip file does not contain a system.img like Google Stock/factory image.

Back in June of 2010 Daneshm90 gave us the Apk Manager. Since then various versions based on this have come up here and there. Most common was the Apk-Mulitool which many are familiar with. Well since Neither of these have been updated in quite some time, along with me getting tired of cluttering my C drive with apks and decompiled apks, I decided I need to do something about this.
So I present to you the Apk Editor which is based on the original Apk manager - original thread here and also Ptmr3's Deviant Manager - original thread here
For now this is based on the apktool 2.2.4 but will be updated when needed.
So it's pretty easy to use and has been modified to work on any version of android including Marshmallow! You do not have to run this or install in C drive! You can use it on your desktop or even and external hard drive, or have multiple of them running and open at once if you wish. The only requirement is to have java 1.7 (other versions will likely error out!!!)
1.8 seems to cause errors so if that's what you're on, just do a quick downgrade. Often it's as simple as uninstalling the 1.8 update in control panel. I wrote this part again because many people don't read it the first time so by repeating it my hope is the ability to read will commence!
Features
Code:
[LIST]
[*]decompile apks
[*]re-compile apks
[*]sign apks
[STRIKE][*]zipalign apks[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE][*]adb push apks[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE][*]batch optimize[/STRIKE]
[*]more!!!
[/LIST]
Instructions:
Extract zip anywhere you wish!
inside the place-aoj-here-for-modding folder as well as the projects folder is a Delete_ME.txt file. Delete that from each folder!
next you need to install the framework from your device (note some devices may have more than one framework.apk that needs to be installed) so copy your framework(s) apk(s) to your desktop (important!) then navigate to the z-install frameworks folder. Simply drag and drop your framework(s) apk(s) onto the file "apktoo-if.cmd". A small window will open and tell you it was successful. If it just quickly opens and closes immediately that is because you didn't copy your framework apks onto your desktop like I just told you that you needed to do!
Now you're all set. Simply place your apks in the "place-apk-here-for-modding" folder and run the ApkEditor.bat file and follow the prompts.
Tips: If you get an error, choose option 5 to run the log and a red command window will open. You don't need to use that to find your error. I have it automatically outputting to the "log.txt" file in the root of the tool.
Also every now and then it is recommended to open the log.txt and delete everything in it and then save. This will actually speed up the rate at which the log generates. If you don't and decided to let it accumulate, it won't hurt anything but you will notice that when you run the log that the red cmd window seems to run for a very long time. Just make sure the main ApkEditor.bat file is closed when you do this or it won't allow you to save.
I do not want to see posts with people posting huge error logs. If you need to post your log I ask that you use the hide tags.

I'm working on an update guys to latest apktool 2.0.0rc4 and may push it out tonight. I will be stripping this tool of may unneeded options too. Likely will just have decompile, compile, sign and possibly zipalign. Zipalign really isn't needed so we'll see.

I'd prefer to see zipalign stay.
When I'm compiling a theme apk with my version of apkmanager, I usually compile it, select 'n' for not a system apk, sign it and then zipalign it.

I understand what you're saying. I'm still on the fence though only because for example: you are making a theme or app for play store and you want to sign and zipalign it and do so. Your apk will be rejected by google. You will be asked to use something else ie: vts, eclipse or as.
So it seems a bit redundant to keep it. That being said I may keep it still for people to at least have the option. But my goal is to keep this basic and very simple.

I know you want to keep it simple but i dont mind the options As I use them more then most I would say. IT has worked so far for me without issue. Very straight forward and simple really.
I think we tend to dunb things down a bit to much as of late.

Good point. Perhaps I'll make 2 versions. One for basic stuff and new to modding users and one one full one. Just so my inbox can avoid too many "how does this work" posts.
I'll link my git as well so you guys can just clone it to stay up to date too
