Hi all... Last year I had a P1000 in the US and going full tilt on AT&T with my smart phone's sim card..
Now I want to do it again but with a newer model.
From what Ive read so far....
the 6800 7.7 inch will do it too..
What about the larger ones.... 8.9 inchers or larger ones??
Can any of those also be my att phone as well as the tab??? ie?? calls in & out, mms, txt, video calls etc...
thanks for all your replies..
All replies are welcomed and encouraged....
thanks again... jh
At this time just the 7.7 will have the native phone & mms apps. If you are okay with voip the 8.9 avail at att should work. No 10.1 is avail for att at this time that I am aware of.

thanks neubauej..... now that I look at it (7.7)... Im thinking that Id like the 7 plus.. it'll fit in my front pocket better than that more square 7.7..
BUT... Will the 7 Plus do AT&T phone and mms, txt too?? Will it accept my AT&T smart phone data plan sim card??
Im using the GN7000 now and im stuck wanting to go bigger..
If the 7 Plus does it ALL.... then that;s the one I'll get...
So.... Will it???
thanks agian.....

I have a tmo gtab. Mainly because it was the first one that came out. Of the 4 that are out there now, which one is the best. What features are different among the 4 carriers. i know the data plan pricing. are the only main differences some preload apps that each carrier has? just curious which one everyone here thinks is the best one.
With the at&t one you can flash the euro Rom and use it as a phone + 3g. It wins.

Correct me if Im wrong but if you don't have att service wouldn't you need a voice plan or a current plan to swap sim cards? If you didn't wouldn't they eventually find out you are using free minutes?

Probably an unbranded, unlocked european one, so that you don't lose your waranty just for wanting to make calls with it.
Personally, I think the extra price for the 32GB version isn't justified, so I went for the 16GB one.
Seriously considering returning my TMobile Tab for the ATT one.

I followed the above link to get my G1 T-Mobile SIM working on my tab.
As far as buying a euro-based tab to get 3g and phone usage, I don't think that will work. I will assume you are in the States. And from what I understand, it has to do with the technology in the infrastructure used in the States.
Buying a euro-based tab will do the same as buying a us-based tab and flashing a euro-based rom (if you are in the States). Your phone will only work over 2g. It really isn't a big deal, just grab Roto's modem switcher.
Euro tmob <> US tmob. U wont get us tmob 3g

thank you. is this something that can be a possibility in the future[voice,3g,euro tab]?? i will install the modem switcher when im done putting this new rom on.. edge is pretty horrible but the phone calling is cool..
also if i have the modem switched to 3g on, will people be able to still call me ??
Anything is possible with open-source. Besides, look at how much has been accomplished in the short amount of time since the tabs release. I am just happy with the nice roms developed so far and the fact we can talk. Give it some time.
When you are on 3g, the phone functionality is basically dead. With that being said, Roto's modemswitcher is a nice little script.
Euro Tab can not be used with Tmobile 3G network....even with 3G only....it will only does 2G+Voice
I have one, and I am regret having it......no way to turn on the band frequencies of 1700 and 2100 together....for a moment I thought I was successfully did 1700 and 2100.....but no, I did not......when I went into detail of the modem, it said (900 mhz band) not 1700...
You can never get 1700 on any Samsung Tab beside the Tmobile one. I think I am switching to ATT real soon
3g works great for me thu..im even getting h also..just got to flash to overcomes kernel and rom den use roto..my tab is def international my charger is weird as hell lol(euro plug)

After Everything I have tried. I believe that your Tab is a Tmobile Tab.....If it is, It will say Tmobile in the front and the back of the Tab....also the model is
SGH T849
The European one is the Model of GT-P1000....and there is no Mark of Tmobile or any Carriers in it....You must have been mistaken.....Even Rotohammer Confirmed that the European Is not Capable of Tmobile 3G....or Please send me your pictures ?
For your confirmation on Rotohammer saying that ...here

Your device saying GT-P1000 is because u installed the Rom of GT-P1000 to enable 2G+voice. Tmobile on the back is the evidence of the Tab being from Tmobile
Samsung made it Exclusively for Tmobile with a special Tmobile Radio Amplifier.......The international version is what I have now......it Can not be on Tmobile 3G network

Hi -
I currently have the AT&T version, but was thinking about making the jump to the International version. There is definately more activity from a development standpoint for the International version.
Can I use the International one on AT&T? Is there any know issues I should be aware of prior to doing this? For example, can I still get H+?
Thanks.

Are you talking about switching to a Galaxy S II 9100?
Tons of people are using them in the states before the AT&T versions were announced/released. I believe they are nearly identical in terms of network/band support (shy of the LTE model Skyrocket)
Yes. I would switch the at&t Samsung galaxy s II to the international version i9100.
I thought people had issues getting h+ to work though.
I'm guessing I should just be able to move the similar card over.
Thanks
Thanka

I have the International version and have been using it on AT&T for like 4 months now. If you are going to get a new phone, get the Galaxy Nexus

You shouldn't have any problems; I've been using the international version on AT&T for 6 months. The only area where you might have some issues is with ROMs -- a ROM package made for the AT&T version probably won't work on the international version.
It works perfectly well, just a warning if you purchase the white model. Att recognizes the imei as a blackberry for some reason. I had to call them four times and push them until they finally let me keep the media net plan.

I've been using the international version on AT&T since July. Only problem is that it drops signal after a phone call and randomly at other times. It come right back up tho. I don't know if this is due to my area or what or even my phone singularly.

I have been using the GT-I9100 for a few months now without issue, it was a little rough at first trying to get the correct APN provisioned but after dealing with a Supervisor who had half a clue I was able to have the correct APN provisioned and things have been great ever since.
However, since you already have a Galaxy S2 at&t has already provisioned your account with correct APN, so you should be good to go form that perspective.
I really like the GT-I9100 and am really happy with it, I came back from London on the 20th and played with a Galaxy Nexus while I was over there. Very impressive phone but not a major step up from the SGS2 IMHO, added to that I believe that ICS on the SGS2 is going to be pretty slick as the Exynos/Mali combo is just as good or maybe even slightly better than the TI OMAP/Power VR combo on the GNex.
Dan
I'm a grandfathered $30 unlimited data subscriber. Is the only thing I would need to do is move the SIM from current AT&T Galaxy S II to the International i9100? Will I need to call customer service to have them switch anything?
Thanks.

Nothing at all. I bought the internationAl the day it was released in the UK. I pulled the Sim from my inspire placed it in my gs2. Rooted about 15 minutes later and haven't had an issue yet. Play with apns depending on your area. I have had little success with major gains but mainly due to living in the major tristate area(too many users)
Edit: don't call and give them your imei. It changes nothing and has changed nothing with my acct
Shouldn't be hard to find the AT&T APN online. I did it with Virgin. When I installed a rom using full wipe, it erased APN. Same as getting a new phone really. A quick google search and manual APN inputs and I was back. You shouldn't need to do it though...first time I booted my phone up after I bought it, it picked the service up instantly.

That simple, remove the sim from your current phone (I777) and insert it into your new phone (GT-I9100) and you should be good to go.
I am also Grandfathered into the Unlimited Plan and to date have had zero issues.
One warning, if you plan on buying the White GT-I9100, that seems to come up in at&t Mobility's system as a Blackberry and the computer will try and provision your account for Blackberry use.
Dan
Great responses all! Appreciate the input.
I was only planning to buy the black one. Not having much luck on Ebay right now...
Thanks.
I need an "all in one" I'm too dependant on them now. So I have the Galaxy Tab 7 (first gen) and it does everything I need. I'm looking for something ...Shinyer?
But I need to make sure the Tab 7.7 or Tab2 7 can make GSM Routed Normal Phone calls. I do not need to hear about skype/google talk/grand central/VOIP. I need GSM calling and SMS just like on my current tab.
ICS would be a bonus, but I understand the Tab 7.7 is getting it within 2 months? Samsung said 2nd Quarter (thus ending in June)
Any confirmation on any of this before I dump 600 bucks???
Thank you all in advance!
Yes, the 6800 with 3G has a Phone app, with which you can do phone calls and a Messaging app for SMS.
The P 6800 is a 3G tablet and the phone works well. If you get the P 6810 wich is only wifi, then you won't have a working phone
Sent from my HTC Desire Z using Tapatalk 2
Do both the 6800 and 6810 have the IR blaster?
I believe only the Verizon LTE 7.7 has the IR blaster, the international 6800 and 6810 do not.
And the ICS timeframe is as vague as ever, but should hopefully come about within the next 2 months or so.
I have an I9100 right now...could I drop my data from that and move it to the p6800 on AT&T?
First let apologize for anything I may be doing wrong. I'm brand new to almost everything. I have a galaxy tab 7 inch att that I changed to a euro rom with voice. Everything works fine. Now I want to change it to work on T-Mobile. I tried putting in a T-Mobile sim in but it doest work. I didn't think it was unlocked but it doesn't ask for any code with the T-Mobile sim. It would b great if it worked on T-Mobile w voice but if voice doesn't work that's OK too. Thanks
Is your tab a 7inch only or 7.7? You might be able to have your issue attended properly if you post it at the galaxy tab (7inch) forum

I have had experience with this matter before. First of all, you're in the wrong forum; you want the original Galaxy Tab 7 forum, not the 7.7. Totally different devices. AT&T doesn't officially have the 7.7.
As for taking an AT&T branded galaxy tab 7 and flashing the Euro firmware on it in order to use it as a phone, this is what you need to do: Flash back to stock, put it in the box it came with, get your money back, and NEVER EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM AT&T AGAIN!!!!
Seriously... It's WAY more trouble than it's worth. AT&T keeps a record of the IMEI of EVERY single device that has their logo on it; that's one of the ways they track you. They don't want you to use any tablet as a phone, or a phone as a tablet. A device that "does it all" is bad for business.

I believe it will work as you desire IF
IF you create a new APN and use the correct settings for your new APN
those instruction will be found in the Galaxy P1000 forums now that you loaded the euro P1000 firmware on it,
Good luck
