To be able to use a Galaxy Tab elsewhere, you need need to have the GSM version, like you can see in Roto's thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843323 and also, here :
http://www.slashgear.com/verizon-galaxy-tab-review-15113997/
Unfortunately (for you), Verizon is basically a CDMA operator; their Tabs are coming with a special module for controlling the access in their network,
and cannot take a SIM card... I am really sorry for you and hope this helps... Am I right, guys ? Please correct me if I'm wrong !
Googling Indonisia and CDMA indicates that there are CDMA networks there.
As far as i am aware though, CDMA devices are not locked - you just need to get the new network to register the ESN of the device. I could be wrong though!
Regards,
Dave
What are you trying to unlock? There is a code to bypass the activation if you want to use it via Wifi.
If you are just trying to bypass the activation to get the device to work click this link: http://www.droid-life.com/2010/11/26/how-to-bypass-activation-on-the-samsung-galaxy-tab/
As far as getting Verizon in Indonesia i have no idea if it is even possible.
(if you have an android cell phone, just tether it to your galaxy so you don't have to for more data. You can find a tutorial on youtube on how to tether your device to your galaxy tab.

The ESN for the device is a bit like a GSM IMEI number, and is unique to the device. Therefore the only way to get the ESN is to buy the Tab!

hello someone know for DIAG MODE samsung galaxy tab?
please someone help me
Sell the Tab on eBay and buy a GSM version instead. Trying to get an off-network CDMA device to work basically involves bribing someone at the telco to enter it into their system. It's unlikely to work. Easier, quicker and probably cheaper in the long run to sell it and buy one that will work properly.

Did you get in contact with Verizon? If you bougth it with out contract, they're supposed to give you network unlock code.
I have a Sprint galaxy Tab ( best buy black friday ) and I still can't make it work in Mexico with Iusacell one of the major carriers in my country. No internet, no phone calls, no SMS
Anyway I'm creating this thread as a centralized knwoledge point for all the people that have EU galaxy tabs (any carrier) and want to share their expiriences making work this device in Mexico.
My is from verizon, one tech guy at iusacell configure mine, is fully working but i need to pay a fee to him... Im from monterrey.

does the rom work on the verizon tab?
I could´t even activate mine, its from Sprint, when I tried to activate to iusacell, they said that the MEID appears as invalid. Somebody could tell me what else could I try to activate my GTab ? Thanks!
If you try to put an Euro Rom on it, that surely will brick your device as long as Euro is GSM and yours is CDMA.
By the way, so sad to read that you had to pay someone to configure your GT, I could configure mine in less than 15 minutes , but my bad luck , iusacell system wont let activate ESN for my Tab, cause is a newer one, think I will have to sell it or wait untill ESN becomes avaliable for activation in iusacell´s system db . Would someone want to get a cheap Galaxy Tab ? xDDDD

Yes you can. I bougth mine in best buy and told the seller that I dont wanted any data plan. Anyway the device tries to activate when you power on but you can put it in airplain mode to avoid this.

hi everyone, im buying a tmobile galaxy tab, the euro model, i want the phone and 3g to work..
i have a g2 right now and plan on using my tmobile sim[has data/voice]
will i be able to use the tab as a phone and have 3g with my sim? sorry if theres a thread on this but ive google searched and xda searched and cant find my answer.. thanks

I followed the above link to get my G1 T-Mobile SIM working on my tab.
As far as buying a euro-based tab to get 3g and phone usage, I don't think that will work. I will assume you are in the States. And from what I understand, it has to do with the technology in the infrastructure used in the States.
Buying a euro-based tab will do the same as buying a us-based tab and flashing a euro-based rom (if you are in the States). Your phone will only work over 2g. It really isn't a big deal, just grab Roto's modem switcher.
Euro tmob <> US tmob. U wont get us tmob 3g

thank you. is this something that can be a possibility in the future[voice,3g,euro tab]?? i will install the modem switcher when im done putting this new rom on.. edge is pretty horrible but the phone calling is cool..
also if i have the modem switched to 3g on, will people be able to still call me ??
Anything is possible with open-source. Besides, look at how much has been accomplished in the short amount of time since the tabs release. I am just happy with the nice roms developed so far and the fact we can talk. Give it some time.
When you are on 3g, the phone functionality is basically dead. With that being said, Roto's modemswitcher is a nice little script.
Euro Tab can not be used with Tmobile 3G network....even with 3G only....it will only does 2G+Voice
I have one, and I am regret having it......no way to turn on the band frequencies of 1700 and 2100 together....for a moment I thought I was successfully did 1700 and 2100.....but no, I did not......when I went into detail of the modem, it said (900 mhz band) not 1700...
You can never get 1700 on any Samsung Tab beside the Tmobile one. I think I am switching to ATT real soon

After Everything I have tried. I believe that your Tab is a Tmobile Tab.....If it is, It will say Tmobile in the front and the back of the Tab....also the model is
SGH T849
The European one is the Model of GT-P1000....and there is no Mark of Tmobile or any Carriers in it....You must have been mistaken.....Even Rotohammer Confirmed that the European Is not Capable of Tmobile 3G....or Please send me your pictures ?

Your device saying GT-P1000 is because u installed the Rom of GT-P1000 to enable 2G+voice. Tmobile on the back is the evidence of the Tab being from Tmobile
Samsung made it Exclusively for Tmobile with a special Tmobile Radio Amplifier.......The international version is what I have now......it Can not be on Tmobile 3G network

Hi -
I currently have the AT&T version, but was thinking about making the jump to the International version. There is definately more activity from a development standpoint for the International version.
Can I use the International one on AT&T? Is there any know issues I should be aware of prior to doing this? For example, can I still get H+?
Thanks.

Are you talking about switching to a Galaxy S II 9100?
Tons of people are using them in the states before the AT&T versions were announced/released. I believe they are nearly identical in terms of network/band support (shy of the LTE model Skyrocket)
Yes. I would switch the at&t Samsung galaxy s II to the international version i9100.
I thought people had issues getting h+ to work though.
I'm guessing I should just be able to move the similar card over.
Thanks
Thanka

You shouldn't have any problems; I've been using the international version on AT&T for 6 months. The only area where you might have some issues is with ROMs -- a ROM package made for the AT&T version probably won't work on the international version.
It works perfectly well, just a warning if you purchase the white model. Att recognizes the imei as a blackberry for some reason. I had to call them four times and push them until they finally let me keep the media net plan.

I've been using the international version on AT&T since July. Only problem is that it drops signal after a phone call and randomly at other times. It come right back up tho. I don't know if this is due to my area or what or even my phone singularly.

I have been using the GT-I9100 for a few months now without issue, it was a little rough at first trying to get the correct APN provisioned but after dealing with a Supervisor who had half a clue I was able to have the correct APN provisioned and things have been great ever since.
However, since you already have a Galaxy S2 at&t has already provisioned your account with correct APN, so you should be good to go form that perspective.
I really like the GT-I9100 and am really happy with it, I came back from London on the 20th and played with a Galaxy Nexus while I was over there. Very impressive phone but not a major step up from the SGS2 IMHO, added to that I believe that ICS on the SGS2 is going to be pretty slick as the Exynos/Mali combo is just as good or maybe even slightly better than the TI OMAP/Power VR combo on the GNex.
Dan
I'm a grandfathered $30 unlimited data subscriber. Is the only thing I would need to do is move the SIM from current AT&T Galaxy S II to the International i9100? Will I need to call customer service to have them switch anything?
Thanks.

Nothing at all. I bought the internationAl the day it was released in the UK. I pulled the Sim from my inspire placed it in my gs2. Rooted about 15 minutes later and haven't had an issue yet. Play with apns depending on your area. I have had little success with major gains but mainly due to living in the major tristate area(too many users)
Edit: don't call and give them your imei. It changes nothing and has changed nothing with my acct
Shouldn't be hard to find the AT&T APN online. I did it with Virgin. When I installed a rom using full wipe, it erased APN. Same as getting a new phone really. A quick google search and manual APN inputs and I was back. You shouldn't need to do it though...first time I booted my phone up after I bought it, it picked the service up instantly.

That simple, remove the sim from your current phone (I777) and insert it into your new phone (GT-I9100) and you should be good to go.
I am also Grandfathered into the Unlimited Plan and to date have had zero issues.
One warning, if you plan on buying the White GT-I9100, that seems to come up in at&t Mobility's system as a Blackberry and the computer will try and provision your account for Blackberry use.
Dan

I caveat by saying the forum would not let me post anywhere but the general forum right now so that's why I'm posting here.
I've read a bunch of conflicting threads and info lately but nothing concise in regards to what I'm trying to do and need some help.
This is my first ever android phone. I'm coming from an iPhone 6 as a heavy business user. WiFi Calling is extremely important because my house has terrible cell reception. I recently purchased an SM-G935FD (duos phone) and I'm a USA AT&T customer. I rooted the phone day one but had not yet swapped the SIM card. I chose the DUOs because I do quite a bit of international travel and I liked the hardware of the XYNOS platform better than snapdragon. Unfortunately I didn't realize or suspect that WiFI calling would potentially become a problem. I could care less about Samsung or Apple Pay for that matter, nor do I really care about Voltos. But wifi calling is a deal breaker.
I rooted the phone, and I put flash fire on there but really don't know how to use it. I found some people saying that my phone can accept both the SM-G935F firmwares and FD firmwares, but others who were skeptical. And people saying that there were firmwares that did have wifi calling enabled and others who said no.
At the moment I am back on the iPhone 6 because the Samsung is useless to me until I figure out how to get wifi calling enabled on there.
So... I'm confused. IS there a firmware I can flash my rooted unlocked S7 that will enable this? How exactly do I go about doing that with either flash fire or smart switch? I looked, but I am having difficulty finding a guide on doing this. The phone is already a paperweight, but I don't want to brick it as well lol.
Thanks for the help.

Actually I think I got it figured out. I changed the CSC using TWRC over to an att USA CSC and that seems to have at least enabled the menus for this functionality. I haven't moved the SIM back over there to test it though.

I would move this thread to the AT&T specific section. My understanding is that specific drivers are needed to do WiFi calling on AT&T and it's not baked in and the model you bought is not sold in the states whether it's sim unlocked or not. Also, why would you root/jailbreak a phone running an OS that you have no real experience with? If you can't get it to work then I'd return it and either buy the AT&T version outright an have them unlock it for you or go to Best Buy, Amazon or Samsung themselves and buy the single sim unlocked version. You may still have issues with that unlocked version if AT&T's Wifi calling is as locked up as I remember. T-Mobiles wifi calling works with your handset but it also has oddities such as the TMO sim must be in sim slot 1 to work. Because that model is not normally used with U.S. carriers .. they kinda don't give a crap about it so the work is on you.
Since this is your first Android phone .. I don't want you to think this is a problem with the OS or even with Samsung. It's just how things work. Apple allows carrier specific network files to be pushed to iOS where that's not the case with Android. I think maybe backup and stop hacking on things would be a good piece of advice. Take it for what it is. I just would like to prevent another iOS switcher from running around saying Android suck because things didn't go the way they thought would.
Cheers.

Cheers.

Ok slow down. I don't think any of that at all regarding saying or
Thinking android sucks nor would I make such a conclusion. Lol. Also couldn't put the thread there, wouldn't let me create a thread over there (said im "too newb")
I'm a LONG time older comp sci major who works for a software company and has been doing consulting for a number of years. All day every day I deal with every software imaginable. It just HAPPENS that this is my first android phone, and Therefore is not that familiar to me yet. The only reason I had an iPhone and idevices (all jailbroken) in the first place was because at the time, my company was locked to Apple mobile devices. I'm actually simultaneously working with piemessage to try and get a VM up and running to allow me to use iMessage on Android
Also I understand their may be some nuisances of screwing with other packages and drivers. I did do the CSC update and that "enabled" at least the menus and the ability to turn the features On. Whether or not it's working, I have no idea. Without a SIN card inserted however, I was able to place a cal using google hangouts dialer without any issue whatsoever, but as that is a different app then the actual phone dialer... I'm not sure if that proves anything. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but making a wifi cal through Hangouts Dialer connected to my google voice number without a SIM card inserted is different than dialing a number using the phone app.
Unfortunately, the only real way for me to test it, is to take the SIM back out of my iPhone, call att again and have them switch the IMEI again. At least google voice wouldn't configure properly until I did that and it took forever to get the call forwarding reset. And my problem is I'm going on a business trip tomorrow and don't have the time to be swapping SIM cards back and forth.
Maybe I'll just put it in letter without calling AT&T and see if it works anyways. Are there any prevalent icons up at the top to indicate it's a wifi call being made vs a cell call?

Yeah, ya never know what folks know.
I've just encountered a lot of folks who are smart techies who have used iPhones for a long time and Android frustrates them and then they freak out. My bad. I apologize.
I still think you need to check the AT&T specific section. I've read that the proper support for AT&T's wifi calling isn't baked into AOSP like T-Mobile has theirs baked in. This could have changed but I don't think so. The other calls ie. Hangouts, Google Voice and Skype aren't controlled by AT&T so I would assume they'd work regardless. The wifi calling registers with AT&T's servers/routers ... what they require for this handshake I'm not entirely sure. I know that when I tried it out using my Nexus 6P it didn't work out of the box but I didn't spend a lot of time on it either.
Ah. I get you about the business trip thing. It's why I bought the unlocked S7E .. I have to swap to often when traveling. I did this after I bought the version you have. I found that 1 sim slot would do LTE/3G/2G and the other was stuck on 2G only and that it would random switch from sim 1 to sim 2 when I was in the States with my personal TMO sim and my work AT&T simcard. It was too irritating so now I just expense the TMO account and gave back the AT&T sim. Not an option for everyone .. I get that.
Also, I did read that AT&T likes to jack folks around on speed when it's not one of their phones and there is a fix involving the EMEI number being changed in your account .. I can't remember where on XDA I found that trick but I'm sure a search will find it for you.
Hope you get it working. The S7E is a nice phone.
Safe travels. Cheers.

What was your result? I'm in the same boat, thought this model would be useful for business trips. Also need Wi-Fi calling at home, but no dice.
