ok so my phone hates me - Fascinate General

Had Build 5 of the team hacksung ICS. i went to turn my screen on and nothing, I figure ok, pulll the battery, it will be fine. NOT. I pulled the battery, put it back in, tried to turn the phone on and all I got was the battery charging screen (with a grey battery with the loading symbol in it) and it kept turning off and coming back on over and over. I threw it on the charger for shi*s and giggles and it booted into recovery, nothing I tried made it boot past recovery (while plugged in) or past the half charging screen (when not plugged in)
I managed to go home and odin back to stock (full DL09 w/ atlas 2.2 pit) but if I turn the damn thing off and then try to start it again, same damn thing! idk what the hell to do or even what happened. no amount of odin is helping.
Anyone have any idea what the heck happened here?

Nope but I'm thinking I'm going to try some electronics cleaner just in case. My phone is my music when I lift so I change songs often meaning its a distinct possibility that's its gummed up a bit in there lol

I kinda have the same issue. When I have the phone unplugged and off, I cannot turn it on. When I push the power button I get a blank battery charging image. However, when I plug the phone in and wait for the battery charging icon to appear , then push the power button the phone will start. Also, when on and not plugged in, the notification area intermittently presents "USB connected". I have chalked this all up to being an issue with my USB port on the phone being damaged and learned to ignore the notification. I have tried several ROMs and have the same issues across the board (GM and ICS ROMs)

Try a different battery

That was my next step once I get home. Half afraid to turn the dang thing off at risk of having to start over..again

Ok so I finally got around to some testing. If I power off the phone and power it back on its fine, if I reboot, its fine, if I take the battery out (like when I flashed the ec09 radio earlier) then it does the same crap as before. If I plug the charger in and try again its good. I tried my buddys battery and all was well so its my battery.
Hope this helps anyone who runs into this problem!

This just started happening to me. The phone won't even stay one when I have it plugged in
I'm still on 2.1 stock rom/kernel. I had my phone plugged in all morning and now this
You both just need a new battery, either the chemistry in the cell is shot or it could be the charging/lvc circuit in the pack.

Well the problem went away, I just used ODIN and went back to stock and then left it charging all night

[Q] Desperate for help!

Bought a 16 GB Wifi Samsyng Galaxy 10.1 Tablet from a friend. Not rooted. Was working fine until I upgraded to the stock 3.2 from Samsung. Now, it won't boot unless it's pugged into the wall charger. The battery says its at 100%, but it goes immediately off when I unplug it. It won't boot at all....not even into recovery unless it's plugged in. The computer wont recognize it when using the USB cord and it won't do anything.
Can the software do weird things to the battery? What do I do? I can use the wall charger, boot into recovery, wipe data and factory reset....then setup my google account and it works fine....until I unplug it. Then it goes black immediately.
I'm not a noob, (several Android phones, all rooted and custom Roms flashed...thx XDA).......but I'm stumped on this one.
Pease help.
Try going back to 3.1 and see if it goes away, or try a Custom Rom. Task14 is very stable and reliable to test with
as long as you can turn it on, you are safe. Like above said, install Task14 rom!!

Thanks for the suggestions....but since I can't get the tablet to do anything while it's connected to the computer, how do I get the tablet rooted or even get the 3.1 or a custom Rom onto the tablet?
I plugged it in again last night (with wall charger)....it showed the battery as 100%....then it vibrated and the screen faded (as it's supposed to do). It won't turn on when you press the power button only.....not even if I hold it down to force a reboot. So I have to boot it up by using the power button and the down volume key combo. From there, I wiped the cache, and did a factory reset. (all this time it's plugged into the wall charger) Then when it rebooted and I was able to set it up with the Wifi, Google account, market access, etc. I even played a game and went to You Tube and watched a couple videos just to make sure it was working. Everything was working perfect (as long as it's plugged in to the wall charger). I left it alone for several hours to see if the battery was just reporting 100% but in fact was NOT at 100%. The screen went black, but would come back on when pushing the power button quickly (as it's supposed to do) So I left it like that overnight. This entire time the battery was reporting 100%.
This morning, I quickly tapped the power button and it came back up (still plugged in). Working great. As soon as I unplug it from the wall, it went black and now it won't do anything.
It won't boot or do anything using the USB cord and the computer. How do I get the new ROM or old stock 3.1 onto the dang thing if I can't get it connected?
This thing is frustrating me.

Red Light of Death during overnight charging

I will acknowledge from the get-go that this is probably my fault entirely. I was quite tired and fell asleep but in the mean time, I was doing a nandroid backup of my phone - which at the time was running stock rom and stock kernel. I actually had just done the factory reset on the phone too. But my phone is rooted and has the unlocked bootloader. Anyways, I left it on my table while it was backing up, I saw the progress bar and everything was working fine and dandy but this is when I fell asleep. It was on an ac wall charger overnight and I woke up to find it flashing the red light when plugged in only.
So from looking around, some people have said it is the case where the phone is completely discharged and to have it charging for a while, but I'm not sure if this applies to me since I already had it on charge the whole night? What's my situation here?
In any case, I'll be going out to buy my tools, would it just be the T5 Torx screwdriver?
Edit: When the phone is plugged into any charger the red flashing light is persistent, however I did notice that when I plugged it in via usb and my computer, I first got a glimpse at the white battery charging screen for a moment, then the phone would return back to its red flashing
Anyone?
Just from playing around it more I realized that, ONLY when plugged via usb to my computer, I will get that initial solid red light, then the screen with the battery and lightning bolt.
****I realized that if I held the power button on that battery screen, the phone appears to boot up, and I get the black page with "Google", for a short moment then it shuts off and resumes flashing the red light.
Is it because theres not enough charge to fully boot the phone? I already had it plugged in overnight so this really didn't make sense to me.
And I don't know if it the phone actually charges when I have it plugged in and the red light is flashing.
Take the back off and unplug, replug the battery

Instead of trying to boot the phone up, try to get into recovery. Most people that had this type of issue managed to get into recovery and from there reboot..
If that doesn't work, and you manage to get into the recovery, do your wipes, or flash another rom.
If i were you i'd try all those lil tricks, if nothing works, then i'd be thinking about taking the back plate off and unpluging the battery.

How would I get into recovery? Do you mean by holding the power and volume down? I was sure I tried all other ways of holding the power but the most it will give me is the google screen.

Yes, you said that at the battery screen holding power will get you to the google logo, but if you tried holding power+vol down and it's not working, then i guess u don't have much options here..

my device has just quit workin all together

my att g2 4.2 rooted stock rom worked normally last night, this morning I plugged it into the car charger and it displayed it was charging with 2% charge present. I pressed the power button the boot animation began I set it down and when I picked it back up a few minutes later to use it...well nothing...the charging indicator led wasn't lit and when I pressed the power button LG appeared for only a split second then went black. when I plug it in same thing, LG logo for a brief second then disappears. I haven't done anything recently except xposed modules, no flashing of anything. any ideas? thank you guys
It happened to me (on other devices) when I let them discharged too far. Just allow it to charge awhile then try to hold the power button
for 10-20secs ... The NookHD+ were the worst in this situation (it won't charge sometimes, I had to plug/unplug a few times to initiate a charge, I was almost about to RMA one of them).
something else that's odd
when I plugged my device into my laptop the laptop acted like I just plugged in 12 different things that all needed to have their disk formatted. what is going on? wierd

try charging the device in offline mode ( turn it off and let it charrge for a while) and then turn it on . mind wouldnt turn on because of very low charge yesterday. doing this helped
update
I let it charge for several hours, nothing...it appears to be in some kind of boot loop. I can't turn it off all the way, I hold the powwer button for tensec or so and the LG will appear for a second then disapear and then the back light stays on. oh ya, when I plugged it in a few hours ago it wouldn't turn on but the red LED was flashing. I'm not sure how long it stayed on, but it was off when i got back to it several hours later. thank you for your time fellas!
If you can get to recovery at all, leaving it on charge in there. Has saved me in a similar situation.

Could have been the power switch that makes the phone short circuit and goes off anytime.

Thank you sirs, unfortunately still no good
it sounds like you had the same thing as everyone else yesterday that had twrp installed and the carrier automatically updated the system.
I could not get my phone recognized by the laptop and had to use pdanet drivers, which finally worked, but I still had to dig for the device. then had to flash back to stock. There is a pretty good thread on this topic, already. Search for it in the developer section. Do not skip any steps, such as setting the date back to jan2012 and turning off the internet. go slow and methodically, or you will miss a step and get frustrated.

Is my phone a bricked lost cause?

I was running a standard OS, no root/custom/anything (mostly because I couldn't find a compatible hack). Anyway, I had my phone running happily for ~2+ years, no trouble at all, but few days ago I left it charging for 2-3 days (it powered down due to lower power before that). I've done it before several times, but when I tried turning it on, it was stuck on Samsung logo (white on black). I restarted, it was stuck a bit further on the colored startup animation. Third time, stuck on the logo again. I turned it off, but it was a bit warm after 10 or so minutes. I tried charging it - it showed the usual green battery charging from 80% or so. I took the battery out, pressed the power button for a minute for some hard reset, but the battery back in, and from that point on it seems I have a brick. No reaction to power button, no reaction to charging. Power+Home+VolUp produce no reaction, either.
Is there anything I can try, or should I just give up?
Factory reset ??
Flash stock rom via Odin ??

The only answer I can think of is that your battery is dead. I would try to use another battery before getting to the conclusion that your phone is completely bricked. Or just let the battery out of your phone for a couple of days and try again later.

Must have fried something. The only thing I would check now is to connect it to a PC with a USB cable and see if the PC detects something, ANYTHING. If it makes sounds that something has been connected to it. I remember when I hard bricked my phone, it did not turn on at all but my PC still sort of detected it. I guess that is the only thing left to try to give you a definite answer
