I have a Omnia 7 noBrand 16GB (from Germany) with some firmware problem (no compass, no bluetooth, no hidden wifi..), and I'm looking for a good ROM. This is my situation:
PDA: I8700XXJK1
CSSC: I8700DBTJK1 (DBT = GERMAN)
SO: 7.10.7740.68
Firmware: 2424.10.11.1
Hardware: 3.15.0.4
Radio SW: 2424.11.2.2
Radio HW: 0.0.0.800
Bootloader: 5.2.1.4
SOC: 0.36.2.0
Which ROM and CSC do you recommend for italian provider?
Can I use again the JK1 ROM for solve the problems?

You could maybe try the XXKC1 firmware since it includes Italy.
Italian user Camazza flashed it and he reported that afterwards Zune updated the phone to:-

Phone: XXKI1
CSC: HUIKI2

Anyway, that's similar to my phone in the UK that is fully debranded. UK and Italy share the same XX unbranded firmware.
Hope you can follow the flashing guides in the Omnia7 development section and get your phone sorted

I think it's a Samsung Engineer ROM but Camazza said it updates through Zune to a normal ROM so I don't think you have much to worry about

I have flashed my phone with KC1 ROM and ITV CSC. This is the actual situation:

All seems to be ok. The only missed features are the connection with hidden wifi, and tethering.

Great stuff, you're welcome.
Just to double check if you have hidden WiFi or not. Go to Settings>WiFi>Advanced>Add(+) then enter the name of the hidden network. You are allowed up to 3.
To enable USB tethering follow this guide.
To enable Internet Sharing (wireless tethering) follow this guide.
You may already know these things but just thought I would post

I checked the CSC but after the Zune update I have the ITVKC1 versione, wich kind of difference are they?

and for the question: I don't know but probably the csc contains updated settings from italian carriers, i just found it was different after updating to first mango version, if everything works but your csc is still ITVKC1, don't fix it

Hello all, I've had my X1i for about a month now. I've noticed theres an updating application on the CD included with the X1 for my PC. Should I use this to update the firmware on the X1i? I remember reading some posts awhile back that updating it caused some X1s to brick. Is this problem still widely spread? Can I now use the update software safely?

The easiest way is to find the thread in the ROM section with the NEW firmwares. There are instructions on how to install them just using your Memory Card which is quick and efficient.
So I found the thread...one question though...how do I know which one to install?

The answer to your question is posted all over the place, as well as the thread you found.
If you want to keep the Generic_UK rom (Not branded by any companies), you have to wait till it comes out.
Or even better, wait for the new firmware to get expertly cooked up in a lightning fast beast!

I live in Sweden and have an unlocked X1i (Swedish). Used the update service. The program told me that I already got the latest FW, but I chose "install new FW anyway".
I had R1A before, but now I have R2AA.
Seems like the new FW is already out!

So have anyone tried it yet?
Would love to have some reports before proceeding.

i also used SE update software but according to SE my ROM is up to date.here is my rom details:

rom date:08.29.08

xperia 1i windows mobile build is:
5.2.19608.1.2.60
and i got my phone MTN South Africa.and phone is sim unlock.i didnt see any carrier customization.my questions are
1)is it my rom up to date?
2)if i want use a rom which rom i must use?UK generic or what?

I find it crazy that unbranded phones don't receive this update ...
I have manually updated my operator unlocked Omnia 7 to the new firmware and am very puzzled.
I am on O2 in the UK and thought that upgrading to this new firmware would enable wifi tethering but after the update, this was not enabled.
I updated to the SFR-FR update available from mobiletechworld.com and everything was ok apart from being unable to hear any calls so downgraded back to the KH5 firmware.
My Specs are now
firmware version 2424.11.8.5
Radio 2424.11.9.1
Bootloader 5.9.1.4
Does anyone know if I am going to have to follow the guide on here to enable wifi sharing or whether wifi sharing will definitely be available to unbranded Omnia 7's via a firmware update anytime ?

no, there is no way to force the update, because tethering is for carriers only ... i also have a open samsung omnia with a 3 Austria sim - card. we have to wait i also search for a 3 austria CSC / firmware. but nothing ... i only found 3UK or 3 ireland firmwares.
Lol, I forced KI3 fw yesterday (with cab sender), only to find out that the new T-Mobile UK update updates the fw to 2424.11.9.4 (I have 2424.11.9.3) and bl to 5.9.3.0 (I have 5.9.1.4) :'-( I WANT the new OEM.cab The tragic irony is I own a T-Mobile branded device, but have unbranded it, holy sh!t when are branded devices are supposed to get all the goodies first?

Other languages for example... other colors for the theme... internet sharing etc....
I think that were a great chance to get the Internet Sharing Option, flash the Open Market Phones which will not get the Firmeware Update with the Jill Sander Rom.
...and what makes you think that Jil Sanders rom will be available for open markets or someone is going to upload it here?
I don't know...I have quit waiting for tethering, so I flashed my second phone with Vodafone Germany rom too... It has ALL the features of WP7.5 (languages+tethering and hidden networks). I just hope that I won't get any unexpected SIM errors (my phone was initially OPN, so I don't think so...) The only bad is that I can't undrand it because an update with an error always pops up at every connection.

I think from the components that should not be an problem because E906 has the same hardware than the E900.

...but which are the advantages of flashing the specific ROM over the already tested Vodafone ROMs here? (except the different accent color). Is that ROM open market (unbranded)? Vodafone ROMs have all the languages available, they have tethering and they can get the 7740 update...
My e900 has a "hardware revision number" of 1.0.0.0... If the new Jil Sander device has a different hardware revision number, flashing an older hardware with that new ROM, might cause a permanent error and brick the device...so, in my opinion, this is a risk (unless we find out about Jil Sander device "about" screen).

I'm still not so sure about the benefits of flashing the Jil Sander ROM. If someone wants to change the accent color into electric blue, there is a tool which can do that on our device...(advanced configuration tool).
Vodafone Germany ROM (I'm currently using this), has firmware 1.0.16.10 and it has everything on it (tethering,hidden wifi, all the extra languages etc)
Is there any other difference? Is the Jil Sanders ROM which is posted here, unbranded?

Yes. (I give you an 95% for success if you do all the steps right) I did the same for greek networks and I only had to adjust the network profile for my country and my carrier, through MFG tools...I originaly had an open market phone and it was very easy thanks to the MFG. I also got the latest 7740 update with that German Vodafone ROM.
For the moment, I believe that it's safer and easier to get the updates with a branded Vodafone ROM for Germany, Italy or UK, so, I won't try to flash my phone again with an open rom like the latest e906 Jil Sanders, but if someone wants to have an open market ROM with all the latest updates/languages etc..then he could try the e906 (I still have some doubts about a successful flashing of it though...do it at your own risk...as always)
Problem of Vodafone software is horrible GPS.
This is why some users don't want to change firmware from open market to Vodafone.
Doesn't work. For some reason it searches for a machine ID or name and it finds a LG E-900 instead of LG E-906.
I flashed a Germany Vodafone ROM instead and now I have all the languages and Internet sharing too.
If someone knows how to avoid this, let me know, I'll give it a try.

i think isn't a good idea install the rom of E900 on your E906...the hardware is different (new wifi chip, better camera, etc.), so you can just mess up your device..

I used the Interop Unlock for my Omnia 7, which should bring me tethering.
I see it in the Settings 0Menu, but when I want to enable it it says:
"Connection not enabled. There is a problem with the actual settings."
Anyone has a hint for me?
You will need to have a recent firmware in order to use internet tethering. What firmware are you running?
I thought that I need a firmware upgrade.

Tethering is now working.

Zune is not showing any update for me...
take a look in the wp7 hack & dev section, there are instructions to find there.
Today Zune shows an update for Samsung.
But trying to install brings error: 8018001e
I think I have to start all over again from the beginning. Right?
For me it works with the version you have.
So there must be something else wrong.
Mine doesn't work anymore after update 7.10.8107.79 ! When I want to enable Internet Sharing it gives an error that there is no Data Connection to be shared, 3G is enabled though !

If you had Internet Sharing and after Update 8107 dosn't work change value:

Then restart device
I received notifications for the 8112 and then the 8773 updates. The firmware is KK2 (no change there).
If your phone is Interop unlocked this series of updates can be a bit devastating as 8773 seems to break Interop (unlock) and KK2 prevents unlocking. Leaves you in a sticky position. I had to send 8773 with the cab sender tool, relock, and then update to KK2 in Zune.

Try 000-88 as well. You may also want to try 000-UK.
The reason I say try a few is that my code has changed over time (oddly). It used to be 000-88 back in January but somewhere along the line it has become 000-GB, perhaps after the KK2 update I received after Tango?

Odd...changing the code has worked for me in the past. Maybe that combined with wireless disconnect would do the trick.
Also works fine with T-Mobile Germany ROM. After flashing Samsung Omnia 7 Firmware XXJJ6 (T-Mobile CSC) and updating via ZUNE, I have now Tango and internet sharing. Don't know if T-Mobile UK gives internet sharing.
After all I have:
