MikG 3.0 2nd issue - no lockscreen/sd card - Droid Incredible General

Oh no. Here I am posting again within a few days with another issue.
My previous issue can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459225
I just turned my phone off to attend a few classes and when I turned it on my lockscreen was invisible (so could not unlock phone) and I saw an error on the top bar saying my memory storage was empty. If I reinsert my sd card the error goes away but lockscreen is still invisible. The phone does nothing. I hate to say it but I'm thinking about switching outta this ROM. It's moving fast when it DOES work so would love some help on this.
Thanks in advance.

This happened to me when flashing, i had to flash, reflash reflash reflash until it finally came up, Maybe try rebooting it a bunch of times?

This happened to me as well when I tried MikG 3.0. You might want to try going into recovery and selecting the mounts and storage option and choose mount emmc. If it gives you an error, then your EMMC is borked and you must flash back to a stock incredible based from (such as TeeRom, Ice Cream Sense, or Stock GB) to format phone storage. You'll lose everything on EMMC but it will fix your issue. I also took out my SD card before choosing to format phone storage just to be safe
Looks like something is causing this issue on Mik3.0 and I unfortunately must advise backing up your emmc before using it.
Sent from my Droid Incredible using the XDA app.

What Mods are the two of you using? Ext4, themes not in the MikG forum? I need to know so I can try to recreate the problem. As I said in another post, this ROM does NOT even touch the emmc partition. Let me know what changes you've made. I can't help you with no information. There's been a hundred downloads and you two are the only ones I see with an emmc issue. Are your phones new, used, eBay? Thanks for the info.
EDIT: Also, what CWM recovery are you using?

My info:
- Bought brand new 1.5 years ago
- CWM 5.0.2.0
- Hboot 0.92
- Nothing additional was flashed, not even tiny's kernel
- Wiped Data/Factory Reset, boot and system from CWM before flashing
- Restored apps with data from Titanium
- Set up Google and Facebook accounts
- Installed and applied Slate.apk
- Applied the following tweaks:
Font: Roboto
Autobrightness: Lowest
Boot Animation: HTC Stock
Down Animation: ATTEMPTED to switch to HTC Stock, however it was hanging on the download so I hit home to get out of the screen.
Status Bar Transparency: Switched to transparent, switched back
Rosie Drawer Scrolling: Disabled
Quick Settings: Disabled various quicksettings (4G, ADB Wireless, Silent, Vibrate)
Animation speed: Switched from Normal to slow on both transition and window
- Edited build.prop ro.fingerprint to reflect GB instead of Froyo so I don't get the OTA nag
- Set up everything all nice and stuff
I may have missed something, but that's pretty much what I did.

Only thing I see I don't like and don't recommend is TB with data. I have never had ANY luck keeping things stable doing that. Not saying that's it, just pointing it out. Still not seeing anything. Sorry. Just not sure how the ROM can do this. I asked Aamikam, the dev for the EVO version of this for his thoughts. He's not sure how this is even possible since the ROM doesn't touch emmc. Not sure.

There are four reported cases of this issue on these forums so far; the OP of this thread, two more in the rom thread and myself. Still not as widespread as it could be, but it must be a rom issue. I've been restoring apps with APP data (never system data) through titanium in every rom flash and never have any issues, so I do not believe that is it. However I am not ruling it out. I forgot to mention I have an AMOLED screen if that makes any difference.

I also have AMOLED. What I'm not understanding is that I have flashed the exact .zip the reported cases have flashed. I've not seen the issue. Very frustrating, this is my favorite ROM and just wanted to be able to share with others, because this has always been a favorite.

Those having various issues, there is an updated build.prop on the mikmik site. Try it please.

Good ol' software.
I'll try and troubleshoot it tomorrow perhaps. I love this rom as well and if I can get MMS over Wifi working like you say you have then it'll be a daily driver for sure.
What we know:
- Issue happens after a reboot
- EMMC is repartitioned as something completely different/is corrupted, making the volume unreadable.
- Upon boot, apps and whatnot seem to start up but no lock screen is present. The entire device does not respond to touches, including the capacitive buttons and hardware buttons excluding the power button (holding it does nothing though) to turn the screen off and on. Perhaps its having trouble loading Rosie.apk?
Also, I remember I did freeze some HTC stuff I don't use, but I don't recall freezing anything out of the ordinary. When I go back to troubleshoot I'll redo everything step by step, rebooting after each change.

Ok guys. I'be figured out what happened, just have to fix it. There is no emmc on the EVO. I have to trick our phone into seeing it. Talking to Newt to figure this out. Thanks for your patience.

This is great news! Keep us posted

I've been having the same issues mentioned, I took me 3 flashes to get the lockscreen to work and occasionally when I do reboots it won't show up and I'll have to do a battery pull. I also get the sd notifications sometimes, the sd card still works but the notification stays there. Another problem I've been having is that annoying system update from verizon, it keeps popping up and I don't know how to get rid of it. Any ideas?

Build prop update at the mikmik will help with the update nag. Also, I finally got the SD/emmc , and lockscreen issue, all at the same time after doing a font. For two weeks I had no issues, until I decided to change fonts in tweaks. Anyone having these issues after changing fonts? Just trying to troubleshoot some more.

I switched to Roboto font during my run, but I did a bunch of other tweaks previously mentioned before rebooting so I couldn't single it out for sure. Sure does seem like the culprit now though!

I haven't had the lockscreen issue in a while but I keep getting a notification that won't go away saying "Phone storage is empty or has unsupported files". And how do you push build.prop with root explorer?

Download the file to your SD card. Make a backup of your current build.prop. Call it build.prop.old. Copy the downloaded build.prop and paste to /system directory. Then change permissions to rw-r--r-- . Do all of this before a reboot. To change permissions, make sure system is r/w enabled, then long press file and select permissions.

Droid Eris Nexus One Screen Lock Patch (No Live Wallpapers)

For root users with recovery img only.
Save zip to sdcard, reboot into recovery, and flash the zip from sdcard.
Enjoy.
OR
If you comfortable with a linux shell, you can mount the system partition as rw, and delete the htclockscreen app from /system/app (if you even think about asking me for help, just use the patch and save us both some wasted time). However feel free to email/msg/call at home at 1am Unheard for help, since he wanted to point out the command line procedure.

applying wallpaper to the nexus lock screen
hey fantastic patch by the way! thanks so much for the hard work. i do prefer the nexus lock screen however is the transparency the only option? i tried to apply the wall via menu/wallpaper/lockscreen...says wallpaper applied etc but doesnt show when the device is locked. is this a limitation of the initial root? would it be advisable to go to v3 of the 2.1 root? again fantastic work much appreciated...
v0.3.0 is advisable, wont fix your problem. Will look into it after I have a break from the phone for a bit.
One other bug ive seen with the wallpaper is that it does not allow you to shut off or snooze your alarm so I had to restart or appkill to get it to shut off

Confirmed that 14 minutes ago, work wakeup in a long time.

By using that nandroid backup you made, right before trying it?
Didn't make one? Probably have to reflash.
Im good backup didnt work at first because Im guessing the phones power was low. Right after I posted had put my wifes phone on the pc to charge and the nandroid back up went through.
I'm probably in the minority that actually enjoys the lock screen more than live wallpapers, but this patch is great. Other than a few small visual issues, this is perfect. I hated the Sense lock screen. Great work jcase!
installed it and love it only issue i have with it would be the alarm wont snooze...will you be working on that or is this just something we would have to work around? other than that its a great extra
The issue is in the HTC Alarm, and Sense. Use another alarm clock.
Love it. Nice job.

Dunno, when you find one tell me please.
Sent this to a buddy cuz he too scared to do the commands via adb and he is an idiot and got it to work. I stamp this, idiot proof.
Thanks for this. Saves me on gas having to do this for his phone.

Gentle Alarm works much better.
thanks for this!
was a great addition to my theme
I love the Nexus lock screen it keeps me from pocket dialing. I wish I could set a lock screen background though.
I really like this lockscreen and it works great except if i put my phone into airplane mode. When it comes out of airplane mode, the lockscreen continues to say 'No Sim Card', display the 'emergency call' and no longer show the battery charge. Rebooting the phone fixes it. Perhaps the CDMA Nexus One lock screen will fix this problem.

How to properly do backups/retores with CWR

Ok so i started this thread as a result of what happen to me. He is my story, i was on Bionix Fusion 1.1 w/Voodoo and of course i had that backed up along with Bionix 1.9.1 w/Voodoo and JI6 w/One Click Lag Fix. I was having issues with a app (Beautiful Widgets) where i was trying to have the weather how up on the notification bar but it would not come up automatically unless you went into the app and selected "save & apply" every singe time, very anoying. I contacted the developer of the app and the last thing he asked was if i was running the stock launcher. Since Fusion uses Launcherpro i decided to restore my JI6 w/One Click Lag Fix. To my shock when i ran the restore i ended up on Android System Recovery and could not get pass that even if i tried using the other 2 restore points (Bionix Fusion 1.1 w/Voodoo, Bionix 1.9.1 w/Voodoo).
I posted my problem in the Q&A section hoping for a solution but of course i got nothing back, so i found a thread regarding someone being stuck on the Android System Recovery screen just like me. It was mentioned to use Eugenes Froyo that does not brick and then flash the stock JFD rom. After many attempts i finally got my phone up and running but little did i realize that my entire phone got wiped clean, meaning i lost all my songs (over 100) 2 .avi movies, a few wallpapers and all the different Roms and Mods i had installed. Basically my phone ended up just when i first bought it. I was very upset i lost everything but glad that i got my phone up and running again..
So what to do to avoid this? when doing a back up using CWR and if you are running Voodoo, MAKE SURE YOU DISABLE VOODOO BEFORE BACKING ANYTHING AND THEN SAME THING GOES FOR WHEN RESTORING, MAKE SURE VOODOO IS DISABLE. I believe this is a very important point to note but no one has ever mentioned it anywhere in the forum. Yes they advise to do backups before doing anything, they advise to disable Voodoo before flashing anything but never this. If i had known this i wouldn't have spent hours freaking out and wondering what was wrong and looking all over the place and waiting for someone to help me out.
Now i have to spend more time installing everything that i lost and getting my phone back to the way i had it before this happened. I hope this helps and that maybe it goes up in the sticky so people can easily find it.
I would like to thank jdkackley for bring up the fact that Voodoo needs to be disabled while backing and restoring.
P.S. i still can not get the weather to come up automatically on the notification bar, still in constant contact with the dev of Beautiful Widgets app.
I'm assuming you checked "Temperature Notification" in settings.... You didn't say. Are you restoring app + data each time you flash a new rom and not changing the settings of BW's?
I dont understand why you would need to keep going in and clicking save and apply... have you deleted the app, and the downloaded it again?

Yes i did click the "Temperature Notification" and still nothing, every time i restart my phone i wait about 10 minutes and nothing so i have to go into the app and click save & apply, i have also un-installed and re-installed the app and same issues. Thank you for your insight, i still have not heard from the dev in regards to me running the app on the stock launcher so i just have to wait and see what he/she says.
But the main reason of the thread was because it has not been mentioned about how to properly backup/restore if you are running Voodoo.

only task manager i have is the one that came with the Fusion 1.1 rom nothing else and no auto starts.
EDIT: ok it seems to be working but i only get the temperature in the notification bar about 10-15 minutes after the phone is turned on and is finished with the boot sequence, i thought it should come on automatically. E-mailed the dev on this and waiting for a reply.
I just turned on the notification bar temp... rebooted.
It took about 4 minutes and the temp is showing up.
I have autostarts installed which prevents a lot of apps from opening on boot. Not sure if that helped with my better time. I also have BW set to refresh on wake (and the automatic refresh is like 8 hours or something long).
A great developer... I'm sure he can figure it out. You may want to ask if a logcat is needed... you may want to try an app like autostarts too (free for the 24 hour window, cant hurt).

[Q] android.process.acore stopped unexpectedly

Hey guys....I've had the Glacier for two weeks and I couldn't be happier. I got the OTA 2.2.1 and rooted it without any problems. Then, today I got a "android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly" only when I go to the phone dialer or contacts. Everything else works perfectly. Earlier today I changed the boot animation and the splash screen...both work flawlessly. I changed the boot animation back to stock and see if that would fix it but no luck. I have rebooted and taken the battery out several times but no go. I checked around and no one else seems to have the same issue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....Thanks in advance.
Edit...I just fixed the problem...I had downloaded a Tmobile voicemail app that was causing a conflict. I uninstalled it and I'm golden again. I appreciate the help. Thanks.
I've had this come up intermittently since rooting, and haven't been able to nail it down to one specific action or app, etc. It's happened since doing perma-root, and doesn't seem to matter if I'm running stock ROM or CM6.1 Alpha (which I flashed last night - had this pop up once or twice since).
It's annoying, but hasn't caused any real problems so far.
Would be nice to figure out why it's happening, and find a resolution.
What apps, if any, have either of you deleted since rooting?
Does it write any useful exception information in the log file?

I haven't deleted any apps...just hid them under general settings using Launcher Pro...the only other thing I did different today was unlock the SIM using the code Tmobile sent me but I can't imagine that has anything to do with it....Just can't access the Phone at all or the Contacts without a force close...I'm stumped...
Trying to figure out a good way to upload a log file...
I think it might have something to do with permissions..it said among other things...
W/dalvikvm*3381):Refusing to reopen boot DEX'/system/framework/com.htc.android.pimlib.jar
not sure what that means....
Please post questions in Q&A section.
Yep, I'm having the same issue. It does it when I'm using a few applications like Twidroid, even ChompSMS, and another one. I'm thinking it has less to do with what applications I'm using at that time (meaning it would do it no matter what application I had open) but those 2 I use 95% of my time on the phone.
& I as well have not deleted any applications only freezed them with Titanium Backup Pro.

Not sure if I really am stuck or if its just taking its sweet time downloading my apps. I only have 2 bars and its kind of slow at work, but i really don't want to type a WEP key in right now for WiFi.

Sounds like the built in restore function takes a while and helps if you are wifi after you wipe.
I restored gapps and it didn't take longer than any normal operation.

I want to add, really quick, that the more you guys tweak your installation of the ROM the harder it is for us to pinpoint problems. Different apps, themes, tweaks, et cetera can break things that are known to work. Since we're trying to get the base system working, please only report bugs if you are mostly clean (apps are fine, obviously) and if it is directly related to the ROM itself.
EDIT: And as I've said in a previous thread, DO NOT restore data from a previous EB13 ROM. This isn't the ROMs you're used to. If you fail to fllow this step, your bug reports will be ignored. I don't mean to sound rude or whatever, but it doesn't help anyone if we're following false leads.

You can use the power widget for CM and just turn data on and off when you'd like to use it. Juice defender provably wont work with Gingerbread for a while until it comes out as a more mainstream Android OS.

The backup and restore that had me locked down for 35 minutes was not the Recovery Backup and Restore, it was the Android Backup and Restore right after selecting which applications you want to be automatically installed.
I ended up doing a battery pull because I needed to use the phone, after it rebooted I skipped the google account sign in and avoid this all together.
I was able to sign in after launching the market for the first time without any issue though.
Also on a side note, after I am up and running, I am trying to get the HoneyComb music app to work. .
Alright, so let me get this straight...
DO NOT restore apps w/ saved data, or do not restore system apps?
Also, things like this and the extra instructions you need to flash this ROM, gives more reason, and I've said it before, to show a video/tutorial from a person starting from stock EB13, to rooting, to flashing. I've seen lots of tutorials for the evo, and I'm sure it'll clear up a lot of mistakes.
In addition, if more people follow the video correctly, less bugs about improper flashing/restoring will be mentioned, and more bugs about the actual software will be more focused on, and help the devs see exactly what's wrong with the system, and not what the person did to flash the ROM.
I hope someone takes my advice, and that a video will be demonstrated on how to do this.
I would make a video myself, but not confident enough to flash cm7 quite yet.

Oh no no, it's basically like flashing any rom. If you're on a rooted EB13 all you have to do is wipe data 3x wipe cache and dalvik cache and install the zip file. It works as any rom all you have to do is wipe and put another rom on if you grow bored of this one. And use my backup pro to backup data from your app and restore it that way so that it's not something which is damaging to your phone as a whole.

Alright I think I get it. Is this through ext4 and cwm3 or what? And what was the restoring issues people were having earlier then?

According to Dameon it works on both RFS and EXT4 so whichever clockwork you have should be fine. People were trying to restore EB13 NAND backups onto CM7 I believe as well as applications which rely on frameworks which are not present. But I would say make a NAND Back up and have a stock EB13 update.zip or have the tar for Odin, just the usual procedure if you think you revert and really just use that if you feel like reverting or going back to a rom as a failsafe. Whatever you're comfortable with using.

Interesting Boot Problem

Symptoms:
On a reboot cycle rom will randomly load with the default launcher instead of holo launcher. All apps will be missing, default wallpapers will show. On next reboot it will load holo correctly, but all widgets will be missing and I will be logged out of all services (facebook, twitter, dropbox, etc). My shortcuts will be in the correct places.
Setup
Rom: Decks Reloaded 50
A2SD: darkTremors 2.7.5.3 b4
Cache on internal memory
Apps: on SD Card
SD-Card: 16 gig Ext 4
Its an annoyance more than a problem, I guess. Anyone have any ideas on what's going on and how to correct it?
Thanks in advance!
I'd try either a fresh install, new partition or a factory reset, as grueling as it may be.

Just a question, but do you let it fully boot before you unlock the screen and start using it??
I used to have this problem on MIUI RMs if I didn't give it a chance for all that stuff to fully load, which occasionally would take extra time for some reason

I think I am, but it happens so randomly that I haven't taken notice if I'm doing something slightly differently

That problem sounds like it's hardware related? Have you tried flashing a different rom, and clearing ALL caches?
If you did and are still having the same problems, it sucks. Time to get a "new" old evo.
