Just wondering if anyone has the scoop on a possible US release for the wifi version?

Not too sure about that, but the Verizon LTE version has been confirmed... though I'd steer clear of that really...
The general idea seems to be that with the LTE version coming out in a few weeks, it will be a while.

Although the majority seems to be waiting for the wifi xoom. I wonder if is just me waiting for the gsm model. I have the galaxy tab unlocked from tmo which I used without any problems recently in Germany. I got my xoom from Costco therefore (90 days return); so the CDMA is no going to make it if you want to use it abroad. I know you can tether but I prefer interchanging chips. Anybody else?
No more "grand master silicon"
Grand Master Silicon? Hell yeah. I also might buy one of those gsm-enabled versions... as I'm on tmobile..but the vzw device itself is in fact gsm capable.. to some extent

+1 Grand Master Silicon. LOL.
But seriously, yes I'd want a GSM model to be able to put in a SIM card, but only if it had all bands, not just 1900/2100 for T-mobile. I'd like to have it be capable for all bands but we can dream right?
They're already making a GSM Xoom, but its being released in Germany first. We already know the GSM exists its just up to Verizon to decide when to release the grip on Motorola's balls for the US launch.

Unfortunately the xoom is not "Grand Master Silicon" capable as it is a different technology, unless I got all this wrong? Let's hope verizon release moto balls soon.

lol.... he's making light of the fact that you misspelled "GSM" as "GMS" in your post like 5x, including the title.
yea I'm currently waiting for GSM xoom, would buy the wifi version instead but I'm on unlimited data plan so why not get 3G model and turn my xoom into a wireless hotspot when I'm not using it

nah I'm not from the US, so my carrier is alien to you all, my carrier has a student plan for data only (which I use for internet) about 30USD per month (7.2Mbps)

There's a thread (... or two?) where people have been playing around with turning their devices into GSM devices, some with more success than others. I personally wish it had been released with GSM/UMTS (provided it's unlocked and quad-band) as I travel a fair amount to GSM countries and it'd be nice to buy a local SIM and use my Xoom there, too. If such a device is released for the US market I'll probably get one, if there's a large enough gap between that one and the Xoom 2 (or maybe that'll be the one they release as GSM?)
The hardware does appear to be there in the CDMA VZ version (the same chip is used for both, but based on what one hacker has done, there's apparently some minor remaining issues with the baseband code).
Just get an MZ601? They're quadband, and everything.

I was more meaning to answer the thread rather than your post specifically, though anyway...
I think I've convinced myself to get one of these, but am wondering if I am correct in my understanding that there are 2 versions coming: One with LTE and one without.
If that is correct, will the LTE version still do everything radiowise (GSM/HSPA+ etc) and just also add LTE capabilities to the mix?
Finally, I am working in Sweden at the moment, I assume the LTE version will work with Telia's network (in LTE mode)?

This is what me and a lot of other people are wondering about. The marketing rep for Samsung said in a video that it will have HSPA+ AND LTE but does that mean two different models? Or that the capabilities of both are stock? The spec sheets don't say anything about LTE on any of the pre-order sites I've found but the samsung page says that it is an LTE device. I'm completely confused. I wanna buy the unlocked unbranded version but not if it doesn't include LTE...
I saw from somewhere that the Korean version will have LTE support. No information about NFC.

Yeah we get LTE + NFC for korean market but it sucks when you leave the country and realize it's not gonna work

James,
Why does it not work when you leave the country?
Also, do you know if the LTE+NFC version does everything the non-LTE version does (eg HSPA+)?
I'm thinking of just ordering one in from S Korea if it does....
I too want to know: HSPA+ AND LTE or is it one or the other but not both?
Thanks,
Any further update on LTE now that there has actually been some delivery ?
Is there a S Korean ship date for the LTE version?
Yes, very good question! I have been following this release closely the last couple of days, but no words on this issue!
It's really strange, as this is the one real deal breaker for me. No way I am going to buy this device without LTE.
But don't you guys think that they are releasing this in the beginning of next year when first movers have bought this and the fuzz about the product stops? I guess so, unfortunately. It's basically the same story with Galaxy S II / LTE version.
Has anyone heard about when or in which markets this will be available? I kind of want it.
Through AT&T in the US sometime in 2012. I kind of get the sense it will be first half of 2012 from what I have read but that's total conjecture. Supposedly with LTE and NFC.
Might take a look at this:

How about a International version as I'm in the UK and I think the US one is using LTE?

Doubt there will be an international version with NFC.
Does anyone have any information on release dates in the US?
I'm also curious if anyone has heard any rumors of price with contract.
I'm on sprint
_______________
Just Flash It !!!
At the London event they said June for USA release, this didn't say what year tho. LOL
I would guess they will ask $299 with contract, will not ever get a US carrier branded phone again, go INTL it's worth every penny.
But that's just me.
itl sgs3's wont work on sprint. we're stuck with whatever butchered version of the phone sprint gives us
ps: will stick with sprint for their prices. unlim txt/data/cell-to-cell for $65/mo... not bad
As far as I've read , I think only people that use at&t can use the international version of the sgs3. Doesn't have the right bands for T-Mobile hspa+. So that means ill have to buy the carrier branded sgs3. Its cool though , I have an upgrade waiting just for it, and I'm going to keep my galaxy nexus (I love my nexus (- best of both worlds!

I have to buy carrier branded phones as well because Verizon is really my only option as a carrier. So I probably have to wait till the end of this year/next year to get an LTE phone with a quad core. Too bad, I really wanted to give samsung my money for this phone.

Actually, from what I remember they said Summer release, and details would be provided in June. Some rumours are pegging July 1st as the NA launch date, though.
Do we know if ATT will be releasing an LTE version. I just ordered the wifi a few minutes ago before finding this forum. About to cancel if someone can confirm an ATT version

Pretty sure only Verizon has committed at this time.

Google is your pal:
http://www.engadget.com/2014/02/04/samsung-galaxy-note-pro-12-2-at-fcc-with-att-lte/
It's possible Samsung would apply for FCC approval on a device (compatible with AT&T's LTE) which they "might not" release. But this & similar stories in February tel me: yes, ATT will carry the NotePro 12.2. Good thing, too—my unlimited 4G needs somewhere to get consumed!
