[SOLVED] Kindle 6.2.2 Root Brick Fix - Kindle Fire General

*b63 helped me through many a private message and got my kindle working again. He is the awesome. If you run into this problem, ask him or me. I will be more than happy to share what I learned.*
Good sirs and madame's,
I am a noob and a complete and total idiot.
Now that we have go that out of the way, I really could use some help. I am at the verge of tears.
I have tried rooting my kindle fire 6.2.2. using the burritoroot2.bin, the su, the com.noshufou.android.su-1.apk, rootcheck.apk, and the superuser.apk files. After several attempts, I was able to finally verify that my kindle was now rooted using rootcheck. Using fileexpert.apk, I installed the GoogleserviceFramework.apk then restarted my kindle. afterward, I tried making my system and app directories read/write then cut/paste the androidmarket.apk into the app directory. It kept saying attempt failed, though I did successfully root my device, was told that permissions were given to fileexpert.apk. I decided that maybe I needed to restart my device after setting the permissions to read/write. At this point my kindle has be continuously stuck in the startup/recovery loop.
I have attempted using the Kindle Fire Unbrick utility: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428428 but every time it tries to do anything to the kindle, the last lines are
<idme> Invalid permission
reboot: operation not permitted
congratulation, your kindle should be unbricked!
Now naturally it is not. I have tried all of the options in the file. The recovery loop just stays stuck at "waiting on device", and I have tried turning it off and on with it connected and reconnecting it and it still doesn't do anything.
I have tried the kindle fire utility:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
but it didn't work (I am pretty sure it is for earlier versions anyway).
So I am at a loss. I have had this thing for 3 days. I followed all of the instructions to the best of my ability, and I have no friggin' clue as to how I bricked it, or how to fix it. I would be happy with a complete system restore, and just reinstall all of my stuff, as long as I could get it working again.
Please help.

would suggest that you try to follow this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1455501
there should be everything you need

I have an experience with one of my laptop, even after I follow all instructions from this site and others, I can not get my KF to root, then I switched to another laptop in the office, and now it works without any problem. I know it may be different with your problem, but it just may work if you switch to other computer

Okay lets start first I did the burritoroot following this guide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZ88CYWv0FU
Then did the android market following his next video
afterwards I decided on getting getting custom recovery following his next guide
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqKZLMaRSgc
Around 2:30 minutes into the video my fire was stuck on please wait for over 15 minutes.
then I stupidly did lots of stuff like disconnecting it and trying to restart it and reinstalling drivers when adb didn't work
and now it is stuck on a fastboot (it says kindle fire and stays like that) as people seem to call it. I have tried reinstalling the drivers for a while it was stuck on unknown device but now it is under android and says Android ADB interface
I have tried the kindle unbrick utility but it keeps saying device not found and also adb is not found.
I have heard of this solution http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22077057 but idk where to put the commands at
any help? can I get out of this?
First thing is stop using video guides.
Go read in the hundreds of threads started daily on your very problem.
You need to understand what you are doing quit taking the easy way out.
nvm you can close this
i found out how to do the cmd had to dl a file first and now my kindle is going back to factory reset
edit: k everything working fine

[Q] Cannot get Fire to ROOT 6.3

I have rooted several android phones and my fire when fired released. Lost root a few updates ago and finally want to root so I can place ICS on it. I am on 6.3 and have tried KFU 9.4 & 9.5 of 2 different computers and it when it runs run.bat it crashes.
Attempted doing CMD way but never tried that way before and prob doing something wrong.
Please help. I also restored fire to factory condition's in case previous old roots left files that are screwing it up...
Going bonkers....Rooted my Bionic this morning in 3 mins...been working no Fire for 3 hours....
If you don't currently have TWRP 2.0 installed on your kindle fire. Go to this link and follow the steps it will tell you how to root 6.3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568340

This guide requires you to have adb and fastboot working FOR THE KINDLE FIRE,
How do you do that?
I am stuck at waiting for device when using KFU 9.5 , reinstalled drivers but nothing
Make a folder on yourC drive called KindleADB. Then copy the files from the tools folder in Kindle_Fire_Utility_v0.9.5. To the KindleADB folder you just made.
Also download the REQ files in the topic link I posted. Copy those files to the KindleADB folder as well cause you will need them.
If you got the driver installed like you say you do. You can just follow the steps and root the device.
I was having a similiar problem, what I had to do was plug in my kindle, and then uninstall the drivers. Then I would unplug and then plug back in and let the drivers reinstall. I also used kindle fire utility 0.9.4
ADB and Fastboot from the Kindle Fire Utility seems a little hit or miss. My desktop doesn't run any of the .bats so I was scared to try it there. My Mac in win 7 with bootcamp worked fine.
ADB and Fastboot were much easier to get working in OS X 10.7 and Linux.
When Kindle Fire Utility failed the first time I switch to OS X and did jcase's method to get root and install TWRP then i just flashed a custom rom.

We're on the same boat instead I been trying for two days I read every little. Trick I could find and it's stuck where it says please wait, bootloader if you get stuck do not unplugged blah blah? If you find a way please let me know it sound like we have the same issues. It's so frustrating because I root all the time I'm not a noob
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App

So I heard you can root...

Well, it won't let me post in the relevant thread so I figured why not make my own. I got a brand new kindle (my old one malfunctioned, non-root related), and was attempting to root it. Mind you, my old kindle rooted fine. I went with the utility option, and it all seemed to work fine. However, upon noticing this:
Code:
1862 KB/s (327980 bytes in 0.172s)
pkg: /data/local/tmp/Calendar.apk
Success
failed to copy 'apps\system\vending.apk' to '/system/app/vending.apk': Permissio
n denied
failed to copy 'apps\system\GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk' to '/system/app/Googl
eCalendarSyncAdapter.apk': Permission denied
failed to copy 'apps\system\GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk' to '/system/app/Googl
eContactsSyncAdapter.apk': Permission denied
I noticed that root was NOT in fact installed. Mind you, all through the Kindle Fire Utility (latest version). I thought to myself, alright, maybe the tool is bugged at the moment. I went ahead and did it the old fashion way....or not. Again, it would not root. So, while following instructions (all of which say to use a version of twrp which is not the current version) I just try again, to the letter. Never once do I encounter a "Yellow Triangle". Instead, now my kindle fire will show the "Kindle Fire" logo at boot, with a little android guy above it.
I did install super user, but without root, it's useless really.
I even factory reset, to try and start from scratch. This however did not remove what I assume is FireFireFire (The android icon over the Kindle Fire Logo) as the bootloader, so that's a problem in itself. What am I doing wrong? What can I do here? I'd love root like on my old kindle fire, I'd love to have Google Play/Market, and a real youtube app. However, none of the things on the forums are actually rooting my kindle. I've no idea where to go from here, and help would be greatly appreciated.
In short:
- Tried to root with Kindle Fire Utility (Latest Version)
- Success in running, but no root.
- Tried to root manually.
- Never got "Yellow Triangle", could boot twrp, no root.
- Tried to factory reset.
- Did not remove FireFireFire, still weird kindle fire boot up logo.
- Lost. Please halp.
I used the older version .0.9.3 I believe it was worked perfect just like it did the first time on 6.2.2
Wee update.
I searched around for the actual twrp they mention in the thread, found it, and got to the yellow triangle. Continuing my adventure of solving my own problems. Just loaded into the kindle fire, testing root. Will edit this post if success, and tell others what my problem was (for them, if they see the same problems).
Nope, still getting permission denied errors when installing the vending and what not. Still no root...At least I got the triangle though?

Care to clarify of what you used the older version?
..Interesting.
Well, it seems I have finally got it rooted.
Using the kindle fire utility to install vending and whatnot does not currently work on my device (made respect to the creator, it's just not working...).
I decided to try and download/install it manually, and I now have root. I'll see if the forums will let me send him a message.
As I said, I'd mention how I "fixed" (more like just trying everything) it. It was simple. I went and found the actual TWRP the guide mentioned.
For reference: twrp-fire-2.1.0 will NOT work (at least for me) to root the kindle. You require twrp-blaze-2.0.0RC0
Thanks for those who looked, lets see if I can break it now
http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?desktop_uri=/watch?v=AZ88CYWv0FU&v=AZ88CYWv0FU&gl=US I used this method the first time I rooted mine on 6.2.2 in the video description there is further guide for 6.3 but I used kindle fire utility for my daughter's on both 6.2.2 and 6.3 and for mine as well on 6.3 but all the drivers were already in place but and it was v0.9.3 utility I really think that the better way is pushing the files via adb to your device but the utility is easier I'm using twrp 2.0 works perfect if your gonna flash wipe everything factory/data cache dalvik and system have backups done and all your files where you can find them rom and gapps read ops well for flash instructions go the extra bit with your wipes it doesn't hurt just don't reboot on accident until your done flashing because you will have no system on your device use root explorer to rename your backups without spaces or the won't restore you will find your backups under SD card/twrp/backups/ooooooo familiarize yourself good with locations in explorer so you know where to navigate to before doing anything even close to a flash initial boots take considerable time I would say anywhere from 5- 10 mins depending knowledge of what your doing is key read read ask questions

For your information or anyone else's, the yellow triangle is the old FIREFIREFIRE, the bootloader. The new version has a android guy over the kindle logo. So now that you have the yellow triangle back, you're using the old Firefirefire.
To easily update FireFireFire, or TWRP, I recommend smirkis' scripts that run right through your kindle, no computer necessary (you must have root).

By the way twrp does not root your device its simply a custom touch recovery for the kindle download root checker or try an app that requires root like root explorer it will ask for superuser permissions when opened just check remember and allow to grant permission
I was able to root the KF in short order with the utility -just follow the instructions to the letter, make sure ADB is functioning correctly. If you are having trouble with ADB, just make sure that it says composite, and not straight android USB. If, when you go to device manager, and the driver isn't the composite variant, unplug the kindle from the computer, delete the driver entry from device manager, and then plug the kindle back in. If you've edited the correct driver files, it should pick it up and ID it as a composite device and you'll be on your way to root in a few minutes from that point.
Also - I didn't use TWRP, instead opting for CWM. No particular reason why, I'm just familiar and comfortable with CWM and I know from experience that it "just works".

Kindle Fire bricked. Need major help

Hello, so this is my first time trying to root an android device, and I think I messed up. I watched a tutorial on youtube on how to do it and successfully installed superuser and twrp from a batch file ( I had to install adb drivers first ). I wasn't really sure I did it in the correct steps, so I wanted to revert back to the stock os. I booted into twrp and wiped the data ( cache, system, etc) from twrp. I then mounted it and transfered the kindle fire update 6.3.1 to my KF. I used the option on twrp to revert back to stock using the newly transferred zip. It ran for awhile then prompted me to click reboot. So I did. And this is where it gets tricky
After the reboot, all I see is the boot screen displaying "kindle fire." It never booted and lasted like this for hours. I tried to boot into twrp but I think it got deleted. I googled the problem and found it was in some sort of fastboot loop. I tried many fixes, using adb and other fastboot commands. Every time I tried anything, all I got was "waiting for device." Also, I couldn't use adb shell because it said system/bin/sh was not found. I went to my computer and found that the kindle fire no longer showed up as a removable device, but it showed up in device manager as adb composite interface under android phone. I thought that somehow all of my system files got deleted and thats why it says system/bin/sh not found. I tried to use the adb push command to manually send the update.zip to the KF but it is no longer a mounted drive, so there is nowhere to send it to. I'm at a loss here, Ive tried numerous utilities such as KFU, firekit, unbrick utility. I just need to figure out a way to remount the KF and copy over the folder "system" in the update.zip. If anyone could help me that would be great, as I have been trying to fix this for three days now.:fingers-crossed:
Read the How To in the attached link and it should help you figure out what the problem is and get you unbricked, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552547.

That doesn't really help me at all, as I have tried the solutions that what you just posted provides, and none of them have worked. I have tried flashing firefirefire and twrp to the kindle fire using fastboot, but to no avail. I think I need a bit more help than a beginner's guide can provide, but thanks for the link.

First of all, when you try to revert to stock without wiping the necessary partitions, bad things will happen. What usually happens is you end up with some sort of frankenROM with no working shell and no custom bootloader or recovery.
Based on your description, it seems like you aren't in fastboot at all. You can confirm this by paying attention to the boot screen at the device starts up. If you see a bright Kindle Fire logo that stays bright, you're in fastboot. If you see a bright Kindle Fire logo that dims a little after a few seconds, you're no longer in fastboot and the device is trying to boot normally. What usually happens in situations like yours is, not only does the system have no way of booting, but there is also no working shell to send the necessary commands to change the bootmode, and you will receive the typical "system/bin/sh not found" error.
The problem is without a working shell, you cannot get into fastboot to install custom recovery and you cannot install recovery while booted "normally" without a working shell.
You have two options:
* Acquire a factory cable. A Motorola style factory programming cable to be exact. You can purchase one, or make one yourself. There is a thread in the KF General forum with information regarding both. The factory cable will put the device in fastboot so you will be able to install custom recovery and repair your system.
or
* Use Firekit. But in order for Firekit to work properly in your situation, you need to put the device in USBboot to install a "new" bootloader and recovery. This consists of opening the device and using the "shorting trick" as described in the Firekit thread. I would suggest creating a liveUSB with "persistence" and install the SoupKit. SoupKit comes with Firekit along with a number of other tools you may find useful.
Either way, you need to get custom recovery installed so you can wipe your system and data (factory reset) partitions and flash a new ROM. If it's the stock ROM you want, MoDaCo is your best bet. Once you install a custom ROM, there is no need to "root" as all custom ROMs come pre-rooted.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help. Yeah, I tried the firekit method but didn't use the shorting trick. I have scoured the internet for information and tricks and it seems like these are my last two options before I throw this thing out the window. I have seen your posts in other threads and you have been a great help throughout this ordeal.
factory cable
thank you for this information. I am in the same predicament. I am purchasing a factory cable from Amazon $1.27.
It is sold by Earlybirdsavings and is a 3ft micro USB factory cable for kindle fire and Motorola Xoom.
thank you for all the helpful information!

[Q] Noob vs Kindle. - HELP!!!

Hi all,
I'm really hoping you can help me - my wife asked me to give rooting her 7" KF HD a go - prior to discovering KFU and the easy way to root I ended up doing some godforsaken stuff in command prompt which seems to now be giving KFU a hard time.
When I plug into KFU I get ADB status online but boot unknown.
I thought I would use the TWRP software but I can't get that to install - I just get a waiting for device message constantly....
Is there a way I can restore my KF properly without TWRP and in this weird world between rooted and unrooted so I can use KFU???
