"new apk" in the title is SLIGHTLY misleading, especially for people who've been waiting for this for months...

I'm in love. Want a Galaxy Nexus, but also would love to see it running on our MS2 to give it a better life.
Ice Cream Sandwich is gorgeous, fast, and awesome. All I ever wanted from android ( maybe just not the sci-fi ui ), but still, pretty impressive.
I like it too. I have been using 3.1 HC on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 for some time now and think Android is making a lot of progress with each software version.
I am just waiting for the announcement and initial reviews of Nexus Prime and if everything works well I will get it before Christmas.
Can't wait for the port to MS 2.
Some nice additions there. Looks like they have been watching CM7 guys a bit and have grabbed a few things from them.
One thing that excited me was the fact that Android will finally have a native data management system. Finally the ability to set which apps mobile data and which ones have to use Wifi will be a godsend for not only me, but it will allow me to recommend Android phones to people who I know that have lower data caps.
Just waiting to see what HW comes out (probably will hang on for CM9 or CES)
Any chance to see it ported for M2?

Can't wait to ditch M2 for something with an unlocked bootloader, QWERTY and ICS
Miui looks million times better than android 4.0
No significant upgrades that arent present on actual roms.
Camera ugly as usual.
New widgets looks promising.
Lets see...

Oh goodness somebody please slap a keyboard on that thing and sell it to me.
Would love a new droid razr with keyboard. Wouldn't mind if it was few mm thicker.

I see no reason to change between custom roms to this... Except if you have a tablet...

O well....i can't wait to see that in the MS2, if its gonna be even possible
Altho, to whoever wanna get a piece of ICS, theres an launcher on Market, i found it really awesome, theres not much things, altho, its preety cool.
It's beautiful, I want on Milestone 2!
It looks good, but i dont see anything better on it for our Milestone. MIUI is greater.

Problem is MIUI is slow as fook on the M2. For me 'twas like wading through treacle in a pair of flip-flops, even overclocked to 1.3ghz.

Will Galaxy Note Get Update TouchWiz 5

Samsung Galaxy S3 announced. It is covered by butter smooth Touchwiz 5. Will we get the touchwiz 5 throuh future firmwire update? Whats your opinion.
lol firstly we need to get ics update with samsung software developing style maybe next year we will get touchwiz 5 ;D
Doubtful.
TW5 may be a bit of a bigger departure, ux wise, than TW4, which is one REASON Samsung wouldn't want to hoist something different on their existing user base.
TW5 is also designed for new, specific sensors and other hardware available on SGS3 - so it would have to be a port for existing Note and SGS2. Similar to how HTC devices without ImageSense chip cannot ever be upgraded to Sense 4, only Sense 3.6.
Finally, Samsung would want to dangle TW5 software features for the Note's successor instead of spending time and money and backporting it over.
So, no - I wouldn't hold my breath for official TW5 upgrade. I'm sure our talented devs will port some of the features over, though.

I'm gonna remove it immediately after I flash final ICS release. Touch**** is the worse launcher I ever see. Apex launcher is perfect for me.
As far as i remember all previous tw launchers used to be butter smooth in preview videos, but so laggy in reality!!!

Still, a new official Kernel means new cooked roms from official ICS. I personally can't wait.
Since the leaked bricks and imilka discontinuing his roms the dev section got real boring/quiet for me and I can't wait for official so that it will wake back up.
CM9 is awesome but choices/flavors/etc are always fun and not everyone likes the feature set of CM9 (I do, just saying).
For example I always preferred Coredroid over CM7 with my Inspire
As far as TouchWiz goes, I laugh at all the TW haters. I LOVE CM9 on the note, its way faster. That said, I can't stand EVERY launcher out there other than TW/AOSP when it comes to Samsung phones. The app drawer load time and smoothness on TW blows ADW/GO/Apex/etc out of the water. Every single time I try another launcher and enjoy some of its features or styles I get so aggrivated with the slow app drawer and end up going back. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of things I don't like about TW and plenty of things I love about Apex/ADW but the app drawer load time alone is enough to drive me insane.

I tried out imilka's CM9 for a week, and while it was good, I was missing the S-pen, so I went back to stock.

Samsung won't offer TouchWiz UX on Note, stop dreaming.
However, CM9 and opensource can bring it to you. Check http://opendesign.blamesamsung.org/
I think that is TW5 one of the selling points for SGS3,so... probably not.

Thanks for the tip, will do.
Edit: Bah, maybe not. $17 is a lot considering my disliking for every launcher I have tried so far lol.
I honestly believe the few recommending the super expensive TSF are the devs doing some sneaky advertising...

in the history of touchwiz (which predates android, btw) no phone has ever gone from one version to the next. what is comes with is what it stays with.
You don't need to worry about TouchWiz 5 coming to our Notes, because it won't!

I don't understand the hate about TouchWiz. It's so smooth and fast compared to Go Launcher or Nemus Launcher, that both are little laggy. Go launcher has the best features, but when it lags, it lags and i don't want my launcher to lag. TW all the way!

Ugly. The 3 column icons looks exactly like old symbian.
And it looks like the UI is too complicated. Really heavily customized. Not like touchwiz which is simple and light

Want me to be honest?
Touchwiz may be cool on GB, but it's the ugliest thing that happened to ICS. I mean those ugly icons, green layouts, I wonder if Matias Duarte sees that, he will get an infart?
For other side, that one on the video looks pretty much like a "better sense", I dont like the style, but gesture control used is pretty innovative (Plus that weather thing, wich looks amazing)
EDIT: Title is kinda missleading, if I read well is just an interface (Perhaps a just a framework) not an entire OS
It looks lame. Whats wrong with ICS DOMINATION...? Its the best theme available on XDA.

Looks like its made for blind people (nothing against them...) like Windows Phone/Win 8, but I like the lockscreen.
nice to see all your oppions, but im waiting for it to come out, i will be porting this, and
yes the lockscreen is nice, im just saying there are no good roms for the sgs3 YET,
becouse they made stock look so good, the sgs2 4.0.4 update will be looking the
exact same as sgs3, as samsung technical support told me them self over phone,
no point in porting it any more, =)
It's not an OS, it's a skin. And "WILL WE BE ABLE TO PORT IT?" isn't enough to justify posting it in the GT-I9100 section

Is the lag really that bad...?

I heard people complaining about lag on the newer 10.1 2014 vs the old note 10.1 2012. Is the lag really THAT bad? Or is it just a new device?
What lag?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Was afraid too, but seriously there is no lag if your are not finicial. Didn't lag more than other android, even better.
Sent from my SM-P600 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I have mine rooted with custom rom and it flies, even right out the box there was no lag but with the megablast rom it goes fast.
I've had some issue's with lagging at certain times. I use my tablet a lot but I'm on my 4th tablet in the last two years and this ones been the laggeist. I have not had time to narrow it down but I run out of ram pretty quick. With that said the tablet performs great and I have no other complaint. I guess root & rom is my next step cause this tablet is a keeper.
Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk
Heres a link to my thread to show you a video of what your missing. No lag or anything works perfect. All links to rom ect in the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2642292
All the Samsung bloat could be an issue for some, but using Nova launcher cuts most of that out.
Even so there is no lag in games, apps or videos... Its among the best Android tablets available.
Yes this Tablet is horrible...lag is so bad..Go buy a IPad they are so fast and you can customise it!....Oh wait You can't do that. LOL.....
No lag here ...TABLET IS AWESOME.
Sent from my SM-P600 using XDA Premium HD app
I use Nova Launcher and a couple of seconds from sleep mode to screen on is the only "significant kind of lag" I have noticed, which barely affects my wonderful experience and opinion about this tablet. I do not regret this purchase given the massive personal and proffesional use I put it through on a daily basis with outstanding performance, non to mention the pleasant screen and stereo sound multimedia experience.
I am actually running the MJ6 firmware (pretty old) and I hope Samsung will release the 4.4 MX UI update short after the new Pro series arrival. The 4.4 kitkat firmware has enhanced the Note 3 in many aspects (battery life and smoothness among others) so I have high expectations for the Note 10.1 2014. We'll see
iiSo say we all!! from my SM-P600
no lag here, dude.. just stutter sometimes...
Using LTE version here. Install apex launcher, turn off all the smart screen options and this tablet flies.

THERE IS NO LAG!!!!!!!!!!!!! This Tab is amazing. The ONLY lag is the STUPID and USELESS Samsung TouchWiz idiotic launcher. Root the tab, install for Nova under system apps, make it default launcher, reboot and obliterate TouchWiz. DOne. No more lag ever.
It's always the issue with Android tablets that they'll be lagging more then apple pads. Although I'm happy with the Note 10.1 less till no lag a at all. I wasn't sure how it will be before I bought. I'm coming from LG-GPAD and trust me that one DOES lag as hell.

Don't need to be rooted to have nova launcher and as for bloatware go into settings and apps and you can disable most things you don't use and the stuff from Samsung normally begin with s as silly as it sounds you will find them

Never had a problem on my note with chrome its always been smooth. try going into your app draw holding the chrome icon till you see app info at the top drag the icon to that then clear data. If that doesn't sort it try these changers posted here http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-4/293533-how-speed-up-mobile-chrome-browser.html that should do the trick not that I've done either but I know they work as I used them on my moto g and now chrome fly's

if you are talking about INVERTED/NEGATIVE COLORS like on iPhone, you can achieve this as follows on GS8;
SETTINGS>>ACCESSIBILITY>>VISION>>NEGATIVE COLORS
I guess there's no need to bash ANDROID for something you are unaware of how to achieve.

Right but not for system ui or system apps unless you ARE rooted.
There are themes in development for Substratum Samsung that should be able to theme both system and third party apps, it will just take time as Subs for stock touchwiz is still very new.
