I need some assistance please - Fascinate General

Hello XDA community. I recently got a new phone from verizon (Galaxy S Fascinate) because their recent update screwed up my other phone (which was rooted) and now I need help getting this phone rooted. Ive seen some videos and they have links to different files in each one. So I was wondering if you the community can help me out here. The drivers I need to get my phone into download mode arent responding. Ive gone to Samsung's support page and they give me the driver, but the laptop isnt recognizing the device. Im sure I have the right one, but in case I dont can someone here lead me to the correct one?
They install fine, but the phone wont connect so I can access files and run it through odin. Below is my phones info. Im on the latest EH03 Software.
Hardware version: I500.04
Model Number: SCH-I500
Firmware Version: 2.3.5
Baseband Version: S:i500.04 V.EH03
2.6.35.7

[Q] Noobie who stupidly upgraded stock Atrix to 2.3.4/4.5.91

Hello all,
I am a noobie with a Motorola Atrix 4G MB860 AT&T USA Android 2.3.4 / 4.5.91 never before rooted/unlocked/[insert other adjective here] which, as you can guess by looking at the version numbers, I stupidly upgraded before realizing, "Oh hey, rooting this device might be a good idea."
Question is simple: Can I still root this device (and if so, under what conditions?), or do I have to wait?
It's been tough sifting through these forums, since most people already have rooted their device at some point or another and people who have never done so are, ahem, not very clear about their questions.
I haven’t tried particularly hard, but I have looked at SuperOneClick 2.1.1 (hung on "waiting for device"), moto-fastboot32 (tells me "unlock" is not supported, unsurprisingly), and I just downloaded the ATT-2.3.4_Pudding_preroot.rar although I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to do with it.
Cheers,
Edward

Nope. I had to use the method mentioned earlier in thread.

Didn't AndroidCentral have an article up on rooting with a locked bootloader a few days ago?

The only thing that bugs me more than newbs who can't be bothered to search are newbs who can't search, are told the answer and then assume the answer is wrong and they know more than the people trying to help them. Way to join the forum genius.
For the record, there are literally 50+ threads asking this very question since the OTA hit. I even put the answer in my signature once someone helped me out with it.

I would suggest trying out cyanogenmod 7 (link below) first to get used to flashing a new rom. The installation steps are quite straightforward and you will have lots of fun (!!) flashing all the roms on offer.

yeah now trying to unlock the boot--if any i"ll post here...thanks...
Remember to be very carefull when unlocking the bootloader, and flashing a rom for the first time, it can brick your phone. Good luck!
I'am also and noob, but this is what I did to instal CM7 Rom. Don't forget to back up your stuff.
Go through the instruction on this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182871
Download from megaupload is not available, the alternate link is
http://www.mediafire.com/?x4m1ul78tzwsdmc
Follow the instruction.
After this download superuser from market and then root manager. Open root manager and select Flash ClockworkMod recovery, it will download CWM and CWM will be flashed. Open root manager again and select back up your current ROM, it will ask confirmation and then reboot and do its thing and again reboot. After that download the rom you want to flash and copy it to your internal SD card (don't unzip it, copy the zipped file). Go to the ROM manager and select Install rom from the SD card and select the rom you just copied. It will ask confirmation and then reboot and do its magic and you will have your ROM installed

Updating GT-I9070 from Gingerbread 2.3.6 to Jelly Bean 4.2

Hello everybody,
I'm starting this topic apologising for not being that good in modding Android devices.
I own a Samsung Galaxy S Advance GT-I9070 which runs Android 2.3.6.
Following many tutorials I managed to own root permissions and to load a different firmware on my device, which now is like this:
band version I9070XXLD3, kernel version [email protected] #2, build version GINGERBREAD.XXLD3.
I am very happy with my smartphone, it's very quick, all perfect.
I would like to update Android to a more recent version, possibly the last one.
What can I do?
On the official Android site, under the pèage Device Gallery, I couldn't find my model ;-(
Thank you

Sorry for not posting the title in the correct way, meaning "[GT-I9070] - Updating from Gingerbread 2.3.6 to Jelly Bean 4.2". I tried to edit it, but couldn't.
So I guess there's no way to update & upgrade my device, even if it's owned by root permissions.
Thanks anyway.

First off, thank you for making one thread to contain all the questions, second, thank you for the awesome rom. I have it installed with almost no problems. I have hangouts with sms and it will crash when switching conversations sometimes, not consistently though so I haven't submitted a bug report. Right now it works great.
