Hi there,
I recently bought a brand new Defy+. For start, some general facts about my phone from Settings -> About phone (which I believe will be important for my questions)
System version: 45.0.1250.MB526.NonEFIGSRetail.en.EU
Android version: 2.3.5
Baseband version: EPU93_U_00.60.00
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9-gbdd614e
Build number: 4.5.1-134_DFP-125
I did not flashed anything to it, it is not rooted (yet).
So now the questions:
1) Should I upgrade to official 2.3.6, even if the system update thing in settings says, that there is no update available for my phone? Will I lost my warranty in that case, without the posibility to go back?
2) I would like to get rid of that Motoblur thing, and I would like to have a Cyanogenmod ROM there (or is there anything better than Cyanogenmod?) What should I do?
I readed the general guides about SBF, flashing CM7 and so on, but I don't completly get it (and most of the info considers only Defy, not Defy+). It is my first Android phone, so please, be patient
2.a) Which one is the official stock ROM that I have? On the site with the SBFs, there are two of them matching my system information, they differs in that strange combination of letters and numbers which begins with UCADEFYEMARAB or USADEFYEMARAB). Which one is mine?
2.b) Do I need to do anything with stocked SBF? Do I need to flash another one to be able to "freely" test new ROMs?
3) I know the steps after I will sort this out, just root, install 2nd init, copy zip files to sdcard, reboot, and then follow the steps that comes with each ROM. Or do I get it wrong?
Thanks for reply and again sorry for my dumb questions
Up to the Defy+, I was stuck with Win Mob. phone, things there were completly different, for Android it seems it is not as easy as booting into a bootloader, starting one-click flash utility on the PC and wait

I have a T-Mobile MyTouch 3G, and I'd like to install a Hero ROM, but I'm confused as to which one to use, and whether I need to upgrade radio, etc.
I have already rooted, installed Cyanogen recovery 1.4, CyanogenROM 4.0.4, and partitioned my SD to FAT32/ext4/swap.
My phone info screen says:
Firmware version: 1.5
Baseband version: 62.50S.20.17U_2.22.19.26I
Kernel version: 2.6.29.6-cm4 / [email protected] )
Mod version: CyanogenMod-4.0.4
Build number: COC10
Can I proceed to flash a Hero ROM?
Or do I need to check something else?
Which Hero version is that 'snappiest' for my configuration?
Will I need to wipe?
Can I do it through the recovery like a Cyanogen flash, or do I need to go into the adb tool?
THANK YOU!
If you've partitioned you sd card correctly and have your swap partition or; you can go ahead and flash the hero rom. Just download which ever hero rom you want and place it on the root of your sd card. You flash it just like you would flash any other rom or theme. To make you hero rom faster, it depends on your swap size and swappiness. You can test out different configs, until you find one that is good for you.
The first Rom I ever tried was a hero rom. You can view a nice tutorial here: www.theunlockr.com
Be sure to follow the steps %100! I used Qteks Hero Rom, and be sure that its for the correct mother board with your phone ( I would assume its 32B, but the tutorial will show you how to check that as well)
Ye' be warned though, Some hero roms work fine on 1 phone and then like crap on the next. Cyanogen with the community hero theme is the best IMO.
cheers.
If I use DAKIDD's method -- do I need to wipe the phone?
Also, does Nandroid backup my entire phone? Or just the ROM?
thanks

yes, you may need to wipe if you want to start fresh.
nandroid backs up your messages, settings, everything on your homescreen.. etc
You can search and read up on these things.
I search the forum but couldn't find answer ...
I want to install the JACxHEROSkiv1.7 ROM on my T-Mobile MyTouch 3G, which is currently runing CyanogenMod 4.0.4 and Cyan 1.4 recovery. It is already triple-partitioned. (fat32,ext4,linux-swap)
How do I find out which version of SPL I have?
How do I know if I have 32A or 32B?
My phone info screen says:
Firmware version: 1.5
Baseband version: 62.50S.20.17U_2.22.19.26I
Kernel version: 2.6.29.6-cm4 / [email protected] )

Also -- does Nandroid backup the whole phone (ROM+RAM) or just the ROM?
Thanks!
Common knowledge.
If you've made it that far...this should have been something that you read-up prior to taking those steps.
ANYWAY, happy to help regardless.
To check your SPL and various hardware information.
SIMPLE:
- Power down your device.
- Boot it up while holding the POWER KEY + VOLUME DOWN KEY until the splash screen appears.
- THERE YOU HAVE IT.
Your information will displayed for you.
As for Nandroid...that's a full-on backup of the ROM and RAM. Once restore, it recovers absolutely every detail of stored data/cache on that "profile."
Awesome. Thank you!
Sorry, 2 more questions:
1. If I do a nandroid backup before flashing the hero ROM, I can later do a "restore most recent" from the recovery screen and I will be back to where I was? Or do I need to use a cable/PC/etc ?
2. Do I need to re-format any of the SD partitions before going Hero?
thanks!
Always, always, always...backup.
When you utilize the Nandroid backup feature within your recovery image...it will automatically store this file in a folder called "nandroid" on the root of your SD card.
Be sure to always backup and rename each folder to the specific DATE and ROM that was used on that profile.
Otherwise, if you don't do more than ONE backup, the most recent one is always "remembered" by your system. Therefore, you can restore that profile at any given time. Just don't forget to wipe before applying that.
As for HERO ROM ports. Those aren't my specialty. I've flashed my fair share of HERO ports, however...they are slow. Not as optimized as I like my "cooked" ROM ports to be. You need to read and thread surf some more to the correct ROM of your choice.
Good luck.
I recently updated my streak to 2.2 rom but I have lost some channels of the wifi 11 to 14.
Is there a way to go back to previous rom and how can I do that.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Please anyone can help me??

Have a look at some of the guides that are floating around. You will find what you are looking for.
Short and sweet you will have to use fastboot to push the recovery you want/need that goes with the version of the ROM you want to install.
Put the rom (update.pkg) on the root of you SD card and then push the recovery with fastboot. Reboot. Then go in to recovery mode and install the package.
Again, look at the guides that are out there, there are a **** load of them. All you have to do is SEARCH.
You can find all the custom ROMs and the factory ROMs on the streak wiki.

1)what is the rom that streak has from the factory
(donut)??
2)How can i know the number of recovery that my phone has?
3)If i do factory setings from the recovery will it go back to 1.6 rom??
1) The Streak initially shipped with 1.6. It received many official upgrades (depending on your carrier).
2) Look at your baseband version in Settings - About. Your 3 digit recovery will probably match the first three numbers there. If you are running a stock, unmodified rom it will most definitely match the rom you currently have installed as the stock roms rewrite the recovery on boot.
3) No, A factory reset will bring your phone back to a fresh install of whatever rom you currently have on their. Basically it deletes downloaded apps, updates, accounts and settings.

I would like to go back to previous rom that can see wifi channels 12-14.
I live in greece!!
Can you help me please?
You are running version 351 which is region free (That's the 00 at then end).
The wiki recommends either 360 or 407. However lots of people still run 351. Prior to the Gingerbread release, I ran 354. I think it had all the channels for wifi, but can't really remember. Any of these are technically newer releases than 351, so give them a try.
I answered here instead of your PM, so that everyone benefits.
1)do i have to change the recovery in order to put in 360 or 407?(If yes i rather not to because i dont know well about pc...an i am sure i damage it)If it is a rom that has that channels and i dont need to change recovery please link it to me!
2)Will it release official update from the phone to 2.3?(is it worth waiting?)
3) I would like just to plase the rom in the sd and from my recovery just make thee change...I cant change recovery..
Sorry for the qiustions but i am totaly lost
You really need to either read this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Dell_Streak_5/Flashing_Guide , or deal with what you currently have. Flashing a recovery image is a basic task that is required to flash roms. If you aren't comfortable with it, then you really shouldn't try.
Will it release official update from the phone to 2.3?(is it worth waiting?)
The official release to 2.3 was only in Korea, that is why a Korea region based recovery image has to be flashed in order to flash the 407 rom.
In EU will it come or Dell will stop update the Dell streak?
Hi, I'm looking for a sbf file for my Defy (not +, red lens) with a CG version 5 or higher.
It's because I bricked my Defy so I flashed this sbf : JORDN_U3_97.21.51
It's US T-Mobile version so I can't phone in France with Orange. Someone told me it's a CG version 5.
If you have a solution to phone with this version in France, I'm taking it too
Thank you
So your phone is working but you have no signal or what?
ehhm, what do you want to do ???
is your phone booting and ready to go on the home screen? then you don't have to flash any sbf ...
if you can not call due to wrong baseband, there is a tool calles "Defy Baseband Switcher", that changes the Baseband to e.g. france orang version ...
hoped to help you ... and if so, please click "thanks"-button
The ~ same thing
I accidentaly installed the CM9 kernel when i should have installed the CM7 one with ICS. Then i made a nandroid restore of my previous CM7. Than... phone dead. Starting but no CWM no ROM booting.
As i have had CM7 with GB kernel i flashed ( not knowing) an old SBF than didn't booted. I tried the US T-Mobile 2.5.1. It boots, i can root it, install CWM.
But than when i try to install a CM7 nightly ( installed ok) it dies again. Starts but No CWM no Rom booting.
What to do? I don't know what SBF to flash or what method to install?

I tried Defy Baseband Switcher but it doesn't work. Thank you anyway.
SBF
You can download all the SBF's from the Wiki Page( Defy General Thread). But you are in my case. I have a thread opened in the Q&A. That SBF you installed is dreadful. So after 2 nights of searching until 4 am i got smth to work. For the record i didn't install a GB SBF. I wanted a Froyo one. The one that worked for me is this one > http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...1&highlight=cg
Follow the first guide. Go to Recovery Wipe data/cache, reboot with volume up pressed. Enter programming. Flash SBF. It starts in Chinese. Don't worry. On the first screen you see press the button/box (with Chinese writing) in the middle of the screen> select English> then Next> then press Later (as you don't need the MotoBlur crap). Than Root it with Superoneclick, install CWM and flash whatever ROM you like.
Warning: Do not turn the flash on the camera. With the Kernel on this SBF you will burn it. Install another Froyo Kernel with your ROM. Don't know how> ask.
Thank you but your link is dead...
Link update:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1486731&highlight=cg
The one you installed is BL5. You can try the froyo above. Or someone PM'ed a couple o minutes ago with this option for the Eclair SBF:Root, install the cwm. Then wipe data, install kernel don't reboot and install cm7. I tried it and it did not work but maybe it works for you. Also if you don't know how to root the Eclair sbf you must do the following> Flash 2.21 , Run the archive(USB debugging On), let it finish/close by itself, flash the 2.51. Sorry, i can't attach files.. will try later
Hi guys,
So, a long time ago a friend of mine put Android on my old HTC HD2, I've never really used it. But now, I need to use it and this ROM and stuffs sucks. I would like to unroot it, root it again, flash a new ROM and stuffs but I don't know how!
I'm totally lost with this HTC HD2. The actual ROM right now is a piece of s**t. I tried to Install an OpenRecoveryScript via GooManager it says that there isn't a recovery available for this device. I tried to reboot into recovery via ROM Manager and GooManager but it just simply boot the phone.
I can't go in recovery, I can't do anything, I've tried. Please help me!
Thank you so much!

Maybe you could have tried searching? The HD2 isn't a native Android phone, those things don't work. To get into recovery turn the phone off, long press power then use the volume keys and call button to select 8. AD Recovery in MAGLDR. You may need to change the partition size though, so to do that you can follow the guide in my sig. While I recommend you don't bother doing so, if you insist on wiping and starting afresh then just flash Task29 and again follow the guide in my sig. If you're not sure about what half of these terms mean then check out the guide to the terms in my sig.
Something similar happened to me some time ago. I think the best was is to factory restore the phone by downloading the original Windows 6.5 ROM to the SD card, reflashing it and then to start all over - upgrading radio, installing MAGLDR, etc.
