Need Help - Galaxy Tab 7.7 - Galaxy Tab 7.7 General

I installed a wrong Modem driver to My GT 7.7 device (HK version - 3G + WiFi) & problems:
1) Only WiFi function can be used
2) Can't using 3G/HSDPA+ functions
Any ideas (I forgot to backup the drivers ....)?

Try reflash a complete rom using Odin.
go to http://www.u-file.net/
search for P6800 under Top Files.
Decompress the files using 7zip

You may want to try to flash only the modem using Odin to avoid completely resetting the device. Extract the modem file from the ROM.

I just installed the Modem.bin (Extrat from the Rom) only with Odin, the device is resumed now, but:
1) the Samsung software (Kies) show me that "Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies"
2) It's seems that the Baseband version is difference with Kernel version issue.

Cannot do "Software update" after firmware update

Hi,
I updated my p7510 that i bought in canada (xac) with firmware xwkg7. I live in germany and wanted a european version of the fw.
I did the following:
-Update tab (pit, bootloader, csc, code) using P7510XXKFC
-Update tab (code) using P7510XWKG7
After the update recovery gave me strange error messages (/preload cannot be mounted and so on). However, I installed CWM, so I do not have these errors anymore.
I also did factory reset, wipe cache...
However, since I updated the firmware I cannot use "about tablet->software update->update" anymore. I always get the following error message:
"Failed to update firmware due to network or server problem. Try software update later (Setting->Software update->Update) or using PC software (Kies)"
Before the update this worked just fine (although no update could be found). I dont have network problems, as I can browse, chat etc.
Since the update Kies is also not showing my current firmware version on my tab.
I guess it has something todo with the country where I bought the tab (canada) and the rom that i used to update (europe version)?
Do you know or have ideas how I could fix this problem?
I dont like the feeling that somwthing is not working on my tab
Thanks!
Klaus
Try to reflash the stock recovery with odin and factory reset, that will recreate the needed data structure on the tab and try again.
Or maybe its because you mixed incompatible code/csc.
Start over.
I found the solution.
I described it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1280069
In short: csc files were completely missing. This caused all my trouble.
Hope this will help someone.
Klaus
I have the same problem.
So if I want to fix I have to install csc and PDA files at the same time?
Does that mean all my data will be erased?
Could I just use csc?
Where can I find these files?
Sorry for the 1000 questions!
I am currently on vacation and can not tell you the firmware versions, but at Sammy firmware I found two European rom versions. One had also a csc file that I flashed.
Flashing the original csc file with Odin will do a factory reset. You could also download a custom rom, extract the csc stuff and copy it to /system,if you want to avoid factory reset. You have the choice
But if you use an original PDA/code file and flash it with Odin, csc files are not included and must be added afterwards somehow!

How to Flash Android 4.0.4 Firmware for Galaxy Note GT N7000
This Tutorial is Divided into 4 Parts:
1) People who are running Gingerbread who are not affected by the eMMC bug
2) People who are running IceCreamSandwich who dont have the eMMC bug
3) People who are running IceCreamSandwich who have the eMMC bug
4) People who are Running Gingerbread/Icecreamsandwich and have the Android 4.0.4 released for their region.(Currently Only Germany, Malasia, Singapore and South Africa)
Please Find Your Respective Section in the tutorial below!
For Current Gingerbread Users
Since Gingerbread is safe from the eMMC superbrick bug, you can directly go ahead and do a complete factory reset/wipe and clear cashe either from settings>privacy>factory reset OR via stock recovery. After the factory reset/wipe, you need to download the "zip" file from here: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/162875101/447fb8f/N7000XXLRG_N7000DBTLRG_DBT.zip.html
After the download is complete, open the zip file using WINRAR and you will see two files:
• A “.md5” file
• A “.dll” file
Unextract both to folder/desktop. Now you need to download ODIN and samsung drivers if you do not have them. For ODIN just download from here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/09glpz0zg7c2dpo/Odin3 v1.83.exe
For drivers just download & install the samsung kies from here:
http://www.samsungapps.com/about/onPc.as
After installing Kies you will have the drivers installed.(you may need restart for drivers to work) Then you will need to put your phone in download mode(Volume Down + Home + Power Button) and then press volume up to continue to enter the download mode. Then connect your Galaxy Note to PC using MicroUSB cable and open ODIN. In ODIN make sure that the box has turned yellow for this to work. If it does not then there is problem with the drives. You then need to select the PDA button and navigate to the ".md5" file that you unextracted and select it. Make sure only "Auto Reboot" & "F. Reset Time" are checked and then you can hit the start button. It should then start flashing. After flashing is done a box should turn green and the phone will automatically reboot. Flashing usually takes upto 10-15 mins.
For Current IceCreamSandwich(4.0.3) Users who DON’T have eMMC brickbug
First please check whether your device has the eMMC brick bug via chainfires app called “GotBrick?” If your device does not have the brick bug then simply factory reset it via settings and then you can download the Android download the "zip" file from here: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/162875101/447fb8f/N7000XXLRG_N7000DBTLRG_DBT.zip.html

For Current IceCreamSandwich(4.0.3) Users who have eMMC brickbug
First please check whether your device has the eMMC brick bug via chainfires app called “GotBrick?” If your device has the brick bug then you cannot do a factory reset and directly install the new 4.0.4 firmware. You will first need to downgrade to a Gingerbread Firmware, then do a complete factory reset/wipe and clear cashe and then reflash the Android 4.0.4 firmware. So the first thing you need to do is download the Gingerbread Firmware from here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-N7000&r=1#regiona
(You will need to signup to download)
For Samsung Kies with drivers:

People who are Running Gingerbread/Icecreamsandwich and have the Android 4.0.4 released for their region
For all users who have the Android 4.0.4 Firmware update released for their region (14/07/12 - Germany, Singapore and Malasia) can also use OTA , via Samsung Kies to update their phones. Just go into the settings>About Phone>Software Update to check for the update OR another method is to connect your Galaxy Note to the PC. Open Samsung Kies and check for the firmware update. If the update is available it should automatically ask you if you want to update. Confirm the update and it will do the flash automaticly and keep all your data as well.

Very good initiative from you as I'm sure many NEW users will find it useful! Maybe you could also add the definition of the EMMC bug on the 1st line to explain it to them.

hey man from the post there i see that you have the cm9 kernel installed over the stock Gingerbread ROM(Correct me if im wrong)!
So as far as i know you will fall under the first category because the eMMC_ERASE function has been disabled in the cm9 knightlies kernel. But just download chainfires app called "gotbrick?" to check if you have the bug. If you dont have the bug thenyou can do a wipe from any ROM/kernel and directly flash the new firmware.
And yes you will get SNote and the Touchwiz with the new firmware preinstalled.

Thnx for reply. I am not too experienced, but i think yes, i have CM9 installed over stock GB. So i am runing ICS, but first category goes for GB, does it realy is my case? I have checked gotbrick app and it said that i have that nasty bug. But i have still done some factory resets and wipes and so far so good, as i understand that because of safe kernel. So i am still in danger but in kernel the use of mmc has been disabled, if i follow the guide isnt the 3d category safer? Because its careful about brickbug?
sorry I'm wrong post

I just want to make a sugestion, change the title or include the KIES method for users on german csc devices. I have a german csc, updated with KIES, no wipe no resets and all is ok (48H) no lags,no crashes just nice 4.0.4 (yep still unrooted and stock). It even restores all you apps and settings (except bluetooth devices)....

thats kinda wierd man! performance seems to have improved for me. cant really say if something went wrong!!! but if you want to go back to your 4.0.3 firmware then you can easily flash the 4.0.3 firmware via ODIN. To get the 4.0.3 fimrmware goto: www.samfirmware.com>firmwares>smartphones>android>GT N7000>(ur region)> and download the firmware for your region/country.
After download just unextract the .md5 file and flash via ODIN.
Does it have the same interface as Samsung Galaxy SIII ICS 4.0.4? I have done the upgrade but not much features change except the pop-up play..thats all .What a letdown!

[Q] IMEI lost ater installing a custom kernel

Hello guys i've installed merruk kernel 2.0 pre-final and my imei is blank. It don't recognize my sim card. I've made a full backup in CWM but it not worked. I want to revert ext4.zip process and install my stock kernel that i have a backup, is't possible? Will it restore my IMEI?
most likely the ril is not compatible with your baseband
I keep saying you cant use an old kernel with a new firmware baseband or you will loose imei
you can solve this by replacing the ril lib with an old baseband version
see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52449987&postcount=232
try the hyp 8 ril - you can try others if you wish
if you want to return to stock you will have to flash stock rom via odin to convert your system from ext back to rfs
see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2568853
you can then restore your stock nandroid backup as long as you restore it using the kernel and cwm from which it was made on

My current ROM is the stock rom of S5360B, how do i do it without brick my phone in this case? what other methods should i try to restore my IMEI if this method not work?
Current ROM info:
Model: GT-S5360B
Version: Android 2.3.6
Product Code: ZTO
PDA: S5360BUTME2
CSC: S5360BZTOMJ1
MODEM: S5360BUTNA1
The GT-S5360B is exactly the same phone as a normal GT-S5360. It will work without much problems (if any), and it most probably won't brick your phone. Flash the zip for your baseband as per nornal (remember to mount /system)
Any other methods? I'm not too sure, apart from using Galaxy Toolbox to check your efs partition is damaged and backing up your efs partition.

no difference - you can flash 5360 on a 5360b if you want to
the only difference is the B version is branded varient of the 5360
you can use any file you like from the 5360 without any problems plus if you really want the 5360b firmware to flash stock rom via odin at a later date its also on my firmware thread
Ok, I'll try to install the stock rom via odin, hope it works . I have a doubt, I ran the ext4 converter. have i to follow this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2007720 or can i install without re-partition?
If it not working, what ril fix file can i use for my phone?
I'll update the result here.

Never tick repartition in odin
all you have to do is flash pda modem and csc - DO NOT tick anything extra
your phone will convert back to rfs from ext if you flash stock rom via odiin
I posted a load of rils from different basebands in post #2 of this thread - you can use what ever one you want - ril is dependant on rom firmware and kernel being used

then click unknown device
update driver
select folder
select the install location of the samsung divers (normally C:\Program Files\SAMSUNG)
if its not there then you havent installed the drivers
note - you do not need drivers for mass storage mode - you only need them for adb (download mode)
It worked! I've installed the stock rom and my IMEI is showing and the sim card is ok. Thank you all. But i have one more question:
I don't intend to continue with stock rom and stock kernel. What should i do to prevent this error occur by installing any custom rom or custom kernel? I've heard that i have to backup the efs, but the efs folder is always blank on galaxy y.

the efs partition is empty on galaxy y because that partition is not mounted
you can backup your efs partition with galaxy toolbox but that wont help you with the problem you had
I keep saying its to do with the ril - you cant use an old kernel with a new firmware and vise versa
to solve this if you use an old kernel with a new firmware replace the ril lib of the new firmware with one from an old firmware
Iv even posted them

[q] upgraded my samsung galaxy y5360b firmware with kies - can no longer root it!!

Hi, I'm no expert when it comes to smartphones and stuff, but I have a problem and I need some professional help. I have an old Samsung Galaxy Y S5360B. I got it from a friend, and it was rooted (had superuser installed). Recently the phone requested me a software update. Tried to do it with the phone and after rebooting a message appeared that it wasn't able to do the upgrade, that I had to try with Kies.
So I performed the firmaware upgrade via Kies, but when the phone rebooted, Superuser was gone and the phone is not rooted anymore.
I tried to root it again with several methods I found on the internet without success (framroot, update.zip, etc etc) but it just won't work.
If someone could help me or knows what to do do successfully root my phone again I will appreciate. Remember I am no expert in such matters so I need a "dummies" step by step procedure. Thanks a lot.
This is my phone data
SAMSUNG GALAXY Y GT5360B
Android Version 2.3.6
Baseban Version S5360BUTME1
Kernel Version 2.6.35.7
Build Number GINGERBREAD.UTME2
Latest firmware (upgraded with Kies) PDA:ME2/PHONE:ME1/CSC:MC1 (ZVV).
The 5360B is a varient from Brazil
The problem you have is that most root zips here do a build.prop check and dont include the B varient in the script so it will fail
You have two options
You can flash any standard 5360 firmware from my firmware thread (at top of 5360 dev section or link in signature)
Or you can try flashing my root zip in cwm with system mounted as it doesnt check the build.prop- http://d-h.st/kFt

try flashing another firmware thru odin.. then root
-download odin 1.85 search it here in the forums or google it.
-install the samsung drivers, I guess you already have the kies installed so skip this step
Download an s5360 firmware here
-extract the firmware you downloaded
-you will find 3 tar.md5 files (pda,modem,csc)
-get your phone and reboot to download mode by pressing Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button all at the same time
-hit volume up
-connect your phone to your PC
-open odin 1.85
-the first box at the ID:COM must turn yellow if odin detected your phone
-click pda button and browse to your downloaded pda tar file
-click phone button and browse to your downloaded modem tar file
-click csc button and browse to your downloaded csc tar file
-DO NOT TICK ANY CHECK BOXES LEAVE THE OPTIONS AS IT IS
-DO NOT PUT ANYTHING IN THE PIT
-hit start
-then wait
-phone will reboot
-if you're stuck at the samsung logo (bootloop) don't worry
-take the battery out
-boot to recovery by pressing volume up + home button + power button all at the same time
-use volume keys to navigate
-do a wipe data/factory reset
-reboot your phone
then try rooting it again..
Thanks for the quick answers, I will try your solutions as soon as I can and will let you know how it goes!!

almost every file i tried with odin i got or fail at nand, or status (7) in the phone, or E:signature verification failed
tried some steps using adb sideload and updating from cache also got or status 7 or signature error
tried diferent versions of Odin (note: windows 7 64bits, all versions of odin im using normally dont open, needed to put in compatibility mode vista SP2 or XP sp2)

tried
that link u send me says:
If you have any issues or Odin does not see your device...
1. Try a different USB cable
2. Try a different USB port on your PC
3. Uninstall Kies. (Kies sometimes interferes with Odin)
4. Download the latest drivers from the Samsung website here. (Uninstall the existing drivers from your PC, reboot, and then install the new drivers.)
5. Try a newer version of Odin. @sway8966 has posted Odin v3.10.6 in this post.
already tried all of this, my guide is the post #2?
Yes. You should follow the steps in post 2.
Put the phone in download mode by using the physical key combination, connect to your PC and then try

Could you tell me the version of the bootloader or OS version of your phone before it went into softbrick?
If you do not know go to the recovery mode and it will tell you the version of software in the phone .
In the OP, I noticed that you tried to install the old firmwares (ADB, MDL). Are those firmware name showed up in your recovery mode?
To flash with Odin you need
1. Odin has to recognize your phone.
2. You have to have correct firmware .
If Odin does not recognize your phone you need to follow the steps 1 to 5 that you mentioned in this post.
If Odin recognize your phone then we need to figure out what firmware you need to flash the phone.
Sounds like Odin is failing to flash the firmware because the firmware is trying to install an older bootloader.
Boot into download to confirm the phone's model #. If it is an sgh-i337, the bootloader is probably locked.
Thanks guys
i found this solution in another post:
first i flashed recovery-mj6.tar using odin
then i flashed mf3-emergency-part-1.tar (it fails at end but says thats normal)
same with mf3-emergency-part-2.tar
after that i could boot my phone on recovery mode, so i tried to flash mk2 update using adb, but it failed.
so i tried flashing the all in one mk2 tar file via odion and worked fine!
my phone is back to life.
thank you very much guys.
