Nexus S ICS stock 4.0.3 home screen orientation... - Nexus S General

Hi i just updated my nexus s to ics by ota...my nexus s is unrooted... i wanted to know why my home screen isn't rotating... is it not possible or is it a bug on my phone... btw i already used nova launcher but i don't want it...any idea how to fix it...thanks

It's just normal with stock launcher. You would have to install any other launcher in wich you can enable homescreen rotation or a custom ROM I guess...

[Q] ICS Launcher

So today I was browsing the Google Play store and I found this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.SyndicateApps.ICSv2
Has anyone from here tried this and is it any good? Hopefully it can't brick the phone, right?

So when it force closes, where does that lead you? Back to default SGY theme?

Just did a try with "Go Launcher EX" and "ICS Theme Go Launcher EX". The menu was white and the text wasn't visible, just the app icons.
yeah I tried it
its nice and looks like ics, but there is a problem in the labeles of the applications in the app drawer
n its slow
if u want ics theme, crack adw launcher ex and download ics theme.
Or just get Phoenix launcher. Still under development but looks great already. And the widget tab in the app drawer actually works.

This is from April man I lol'd at my question.

apex launcher beta whooshhhh

i have used apex before on the s3 but didnt really get on with it but the new beta is like lightning on the s3 or is it just placebo ?
It's using Jelly Bean code, so probably it's not placebo.
confirmed.
can confirm its fast as f!!k now. been using since i had a galaxy ace with ics kang and my oh my it's improved. one tip is no animations or transitions. buzz lightyear on my fone lol:cyclops::good::cyclops:
Yep really fast now, didn't realise there was a beta version out so thanks

My only problem with apex is the small lag when opening folders with a lot of apps. I just can't stand it and the beta still have it. Using nova until them fix it.
Where can I download it from ?

If you have Apex installed just check for updates.

you should try Holo launcher HD, based on jelly bean and zero lag, folders open instantly

To get the new Beta you have to have Apex launcher installed then go to Apex settings>About Apex Launcher>Automatically Check for updates> click Beta then search for updates.... It should now find and install the Beta version.
I'm using the beta as well, before that I was using Nova for a long time. Both are great and both have advantages and disadvantages. I'm going to stick with Apex for now. They are so similar but these are the major difference I have noticed using both
Apex:
Smoother Screen Transitions than Nova
Now has JB widget placement/resize
Nova:
Smoother scrolling in folders(apex folder scrolling is more jerky)
Ability to add and view multiple drawer tabs at once. With Apex it seems you can only have 3 tabs visible at once(2 app and one widget) with apex you can have as many as you like all visible
Other than that they seem pretty much the same
Go launcher us better than both for features.

That dinosaur? Lol. It'll do more harm than good.
Newbie question : what's the advantage of using newer ICS / JB specific launchers? Speed?
using Nova Launcher because Apex transition from homescreen to apps list isn't very nice. instread of homescreen fading back it just blacks out. On Nova it fades in like on the original ICS launcher.

You also can do this with apex, ppl should play more with the settings.
Drawer settings - drawer animation and choose fade in. This is NOT the swype animation.

Trebuchet question

I wonder why trebuchet always sets my wallpaper with a bigger image than stock, its soo annoying I wish I could use all these tablet mode mods more often but I don't like how trebuchet always makes the wallpaper bigger and depending on the image size blurry as well, I tried replacing with apex but that launcher does rotate smooth in app drawer it stays black for a couple seconds then shows the apps, so does anyone know why trebuchet does that?

Try Nova Launcher. I don't know why Trebuchet is doing that. It never happened on my N7.

Conflict with Nova and TW

Nova Launcher with stock 4.2.2
not rooted (yet)
sometimes when I leave an app it goes back to the TW default screen
I have to hit the home key twice to go back to NL
is this a bug or anyone else having the same issue?
Have you went into setting of nova and set it for default launcher?
Why not just freeze Touchwiz launcher?
You can not disable touchwiz home without rooting.

Remove search bar?

I would like to remove the google search bar; I haven't found a solution as freezing/removing Google Search also removes voice search, and I'd like to keep it. Any help, please?
Install a custom launcher from the play store; apex adw etc. You can't unless your rooted with a custom rom or deodexed
