Alright, so I recently (like 30 minutes ago) installed texasice latest ICS evervolv build and I've come across an error, but this isn't tied to this ROM, I've had this error on CM7 as well. To the point:
My "free" apps aren't showing up in "My apps" in Market, only apps I've paid for. There's nothing wrong with my sdcard or ext partition so I'll rule that out of the equation. I suspect this might be because of the low cache partition. ICS has a cache partition (for market cache) of 16 megabytes and stock partition size is 97-ish megabytes. I've checked and apparently I have 14 megabytes left out of these 16 so where is the problem?
i don't think it is cache since it is only free ones. i would say market, and maybe the it reads your particular phone--not an expert by any means
i am sure you cleared data/cache in app mgt
can you try an older version or reflash gapps
seem to remember this issue coming up before but don't remember where
ken
Hmm.. strangely enough, my apps now show. I think wiping market cache did the trick.

glad you got it--

I have moved my market and browser cache to sd about 2 weeks ago and have not noticed any problems, yet reading here it seems to be causing problems for many others. Can anyone who is having those problems tell me what they are and how you get them? I want to make sure everything is running as smooth as it seems or put it back (ouch, id have to uninstall a lot of crap).
i moved all three caches (webview, market, and street) under jf modified rc 30, no issues. i flashed Dev Phone 1 and moved everything again. no issues.
i do not think the market cache has anything to do with uninstalling the apps. the cache, is just the display info before you install.
flashing - yes then you will have to reinstall the apps.
How do I move all market and browser cache to SD?
Moving all the market cache to SD also means that all installed applications will be installed on SD?

Last I checked, the Search button works
Hello fellow xda- users & developers,
This is the first time Post on the forum since I really didn't find the need to.
I own an HD2 and it's been through quite a few roms (mostly CM7). Not too long ago I flashed the Medroid ICS CM9 remix(task9 fresh install on every flash) and it was really smooth, but it had random reboots and not a fully developed camcorder. So until yesterday I flashed the MIUI HSTR SGSII v4.0 which is by far the most elegant rom but as all there had to be a flaw. As i was installing my desired apps and after a dozen apps I got the "insufficient storage available". I had this problem with a few past roms but i would flash a new one. The ICS rom didn't have this problem. I also have 669MB Internal memory, 7.09GB SD Card.
I have tried fresh intalling it, clearing cache, wipe/factory reset. I have search the forum, and used the knowledge of the users but nothing seems to solve this problem.
I would much appreciate if there are suggestions to solving this problem out there.
Much thanks in advance cheers.
I'm facing the same problem. Everything was perfect but suddenly for last few days when I try to install some apps it says Insufficient storage and whenever I try to update any apps from Google Play it says Insufficient storage.
NAND ROM : [NIGHTLY][Full HWA] CyanogenMod 9 [4.0.4][Kernel: cmhtcleo/tytung]
8GB SD Card with 2GB ext4 partition.
simple2ext app showing following information:
DATA:
Size: 218MB
Used: 103MB
Free: 115MB
SD-EXT:
Size: 1922MB
Used: 190MB
Free: 1731MB
Cache:
Size: 2MB
Used: 784KB
Free: 1MB
Any suggestion please ?
I wonder how he got 669mb of Internal memory. I'm jealous!
669 MB ? is it possible? I don't think so. But if he said it an be. See if you guys know how to repartition MGDLR then you can make the partition of 150 MB. For ICS or CM7 roms 150 is well enough. and then you can have enough memory.
You can also use APPs to SD to have more memory.
try using cache clearing apps to clear the cache so that u can have extra memory.
Hey guys,
I see the same error message with running 'MccM MixTheme V1.3 HTC Sense.Iphone.ICS.Latest Miui Base'. However the worst part is that the issue appears as soon as I try to install my first app on the phone, so I can't do anything besides use what comes with the stock. Oddly enough, just 1 other fellow member faced this issue (and reported it in the DEV thread), however no one posted a solution to it. BTW I've installed the ROM 3 times with the same observations.
Could someone care to help with this please?
I have solved my problem. I faced that problem because I changed the setting last week, I set the app data to be saved in SD-EXT. I set the app data to be saved in phone storage last night and rebooted my HD2, problem solved. I have updated all the apps which were showing errors

had the same issue. All I did was clear cache via Recovery and the problem is now gone
I just backed up all my data, and wipe data/factory reset.. Solve the problem.
Hi
I had trouble getting ICS to load on my blade until i made a TPT of my own with TPT Helper.
Thought i'd share it.
This gives you 20mb cache,220mb system & 216mb free space.
My phone is a Gen 1 upgraded to Gen2.
All versions of ICS worked with this on my phone.
Make sure you have a rom on your sd card first before flashing.
FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK !
I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR BRICKED PHONES !
Enjoy.

no i works even a 2 mb cache works.
i too use a tpt with 20mb cache and i can install all apps from the market
Can't say i've had any problems with downloading apps or it would be pointless using it really.

2mb cache works, with cm based roms, because they redirect /cache to /data if /cache is under 20mb - maybe it still does with this, as there's a bit of overhead for the filesystem, so it's just wasting 18mb in that case. /cache is only used for market downloads & a few small log files in clockworkmod, nothing else.
If /cache doesn't get redirected to /data, sd-ext or tmpfs, then the size of /cache dictates the maximum size app or game that you can download from the market.
Maybe something like 180mb system / 2mb cache would be better, or 200mb system if we must. Standard European blades only have about 210mb system, 220mb is just for the Chinese stock roms, so rom devs need to keep it under 205mb including all addons. I'll wait & see.

anyway the largest szie game i downloaded was angry birds let me see if bigger games or apps work.
My dev knowledge is close to zero, so i can't comment on this a great deal.
All i know is that i kept getting stuck on a boot loop when i tried to install ICS, but since i made this TPT i can install any of the ICS builds which was my aim.
Because it worked for me, i thought it might help other people who are having the same problem.
If you can improve and maybe make a better TPT, i would be gratefull and would give it a try.
I welcome anything which makes my blade a better device.
strange thing is 2 mb cache is getting errors in cwm while flashing rom if we dont clear cache as /cache is full but market works well.
so i think 20 is good.
It seems to work for me anyway
I have 500MB left and whenever I'm trying to update/install apps from the Play Story it gives me this error!
I tried clearing the dalvik-cache which is like 450MB but it force closes the whole system and apps!
After rebooting... the dalvik-cache is still there! I'm guessing that it's rewritten itself...
I think dalvik cache rewrites itself after it's wipe
That's Why it takes a long time to boot after dalvik wipe

Where do you have only 500mb left? Meaning /data/media or /cache (not /dalvik-cache).
Try going into Setting>Apps> Gallery, Playstore, video player, music player and wiping the Cache there. Gallery is a cache hog, so is Browser and Playstore.
Once you get that cleaned out, you should be able to download something from the market. I suggest Cache Cleaner NG. It is a cache cleaner that you can set to run everyday, week, month. I have mine set to run every morning before I wake up so my tablet is fresh and clean and ready to use.

I have 500MB left from 16GB (Internal Storage) and for some reason it's 300KB now!

happened to me before. reflashed and it fixed. should have use root explorer to check which directory is used.
So now I have 400MB on the internal storage and I've cleared all the cache!
What should I do next?
The error is still there!
I can't even install apps to clean my system!

Clearing cache from recovery is not the same. Go into those apps and wipe them there.
Also, take look in /data/log and see if anything is in there. I just read about someone yesterday that had 11gb of useless entries in there. If there is anything in that file, just delete it (it isn't needed) and the set the permission to User-R and the rest blank and you would get those files anymore.
If all else fails, just delete something from your internal that you can replace later on from your PC (like some music or video) and that way you'll clear out some space to download a cleaner from the market.

Yeah... I checked all the apps and cache was deleted!
There's no "log" at all!
Also why would I need to delete something from my internal?
I deleted a lot from downloads...
Your internal and /data/media are the same thing. If you said that your internal is almost full and you are getting the error,....

I know!
But I deleted a lot of stuff! and now I have 400MB!
400MB should be enough to install an 800KB app!
Just trying to troubleshoot here man. Use a file explorer and look around to see if anything sticks out.
Might be time to do a factory reset and clean house (as a last resort) unless someone else has any ideas.
Good luck.
You need to have at least 512MB on your internal memory to be able to instal more programs. There is no fix for that.

This might be the answer...
I've deleted a lot of stuff and apps and now I have 1.2GB an I installed couple of apps successfully!
He is correct, 512 is the limit, you will also notice the system slows ALOT after this point, I like to use my MicroSD for alot of things for this reason.
Also glad I read the 'log' tip, I had a 600Mb log just sitting there. X.x
I get this insufficient space error when titanium backup runs a scheduled backup. I have 18gb free and when I manually do a backup it works like a charm. Odd behavior. Sorry, I don't have any suggestions; just wanted to let you know you are not alone.

I do use a 16GB microSD BUT the problem is that I have 10GB of apps/games! -_-
Try Apps2SD or a similar app.
I know for sure that the huge amounts of resource files used by games like Shadowgun and GTAIII can be stored on the MicroSD, freeing alot.

Probably /data is on the verge of running out of available inodes, do you have a lot of small files on it?
Hey all, I have a strange issue, tried all the obvious solutions, cleared caches, data, haven't wiped dalvik yet but eh. Got a storage space almost full error the other day so I linked some unlinked apps to the SD card, cleared cached data, moved images and downloads to folders in SD card and deleted what I didn't need and voila, problem solved, I cleared like 3 GB. I even tapped "Other", clicked "Explore", sorted that by size and delete files from the biggest folder (RAR files in downloads).
Idk if the image uploaded but here's a breakdown of my internal storage as it is right now:
-5.83 GB Used of 9.47 GB
-Apps 5.79 GB
-Images 30.71 MB
-Videos 20.00 KB
-Audio 224 KB
-Other 548 MB
-Cached Data 68.16 MB
NOW if you add all that up you get roughly 6.45 GB, which leaves like 616 MB just floating around. When i went into other and saw those RAR files, they totaled up to like 500-something MB and when I deleted it I noticed it fell off of the "Total Used" counter, but remained in "Other" counter.
Is there a way to reset the "Other" counter? The space is there I THINK, just seeing it there is kinda annoying. Wat Do?
By formatting the internal storage maybe.
You won't lose apps, as those are kept on a different partition.
The only things you will lose are the files on the internal storage and maybe some app settings (for apps that store data there).
TWRP also stores its settings there, so next time it boots it will be like you just flashed the recovery.

I've never used link2sd.
But for the rest it's a big fat no.
Formatting the internal storage is exactly the same as formatting the microSD card.
I do recommend formatting it once in a while.
I usually do it at every ROM update.

I'll do it tonight at work, I just cleared data from the unrar app I used for the rar files I had and that freed up about 100mb from the "Other" counter, didn't do anything for the total storage though
@GDReaper Wiping internal storage worked for me, even freed up more space than just the "Other". gr8 m8, I r8 8/8 Thank you!!!
