Burrito root problems - Kindle Fire General

My kindle fire has dropped 13 likpack score points since the original root. What do youthink is the problem
Sent from my Kindle Fire using Tapatalk

got to settings then hit more, then slide down to device and tap it if system version reads 6.2.2 etc your device has updated and you have lost your root if not then u might have to reroot ur device

This is not a burritoroot problem
Likely either something running in the background, or the fact that linpack is not that great of a benchmark.

Thank you for youre information. By the way jcase, i love the root, it made it very easy

kindle Fire

I just got my Amazon Kindle Fire 2 days ago and i love it. I want to know if ther is a full 100% original factory stock rom to restore and the step by step instructions to reinstall it? I wanted to root and try to install some roms but i need the full stock and recovery to install the roms. I never rooted the kindle before and i never used roms and i dont know what the full stock file is called or anything so i need info and help. I have successfully rooted my android phones and the samsung galaxy tab 7 plus. And i can change roms on them roms too but i have 0% experience on the amazon kindle. My mom got me this for me its a late christmas present and it will crush my heart if i screw it up with no way back to full stock. So i have to be extra carefull. Does anybody know if amazon is going to release android 4 ics for the kindle fire because that is what i want is the ics update and the only way i can see the ability to get it is istalling one of the roms from this site?
Only way you'll see ICS on this device is via CM9 or similar.

KFU will do a lot for you. You can root and install TWRP via the Kindle Fire Utility. Read up and you should be good.

Did you do a full backup in recovery before you loaded the new ROM?
If so just boot to recovery wipe everything and reload from your backup.

Its pretty darn spectacular, I would love it better if lithium would incorporate beats audio in it. But so far no issues at all and smooth as a baby's butt

I am using the latest Jandycane version and I love it also. Made a video on it on YouTube to help people understand that everything works fine. It is amazing that it is better than AOKP milestone 6. I had many problems with it that I don't have anymore. The only thing I would suggest is AOKP ROM Control. But it seems the developers are on the right track with status bar UI changes.

Does rooting impact Prime features?

Can someone please explain whether rooting the HDX (mine is a 7" if that matter) has any impact on Amazon Prime such as can no longer borrow book and video?
Thanks for helping a newbie!

No it doesn't. I have Prime and everything works fine and always has. Though unless you need root and plan on using it for stuff like Titanium Backup, no need to root.

No, but root is only for version # 13.3.1.0 for now. Rooting gives you higher permissions on the device and does not impact much more. Rooting and running as root is similar to running a Windows application as Administrator. In order to do special things to your device such as browsing the root folder, changing root files, running rom's and any app that needs root, needs to be granted 'root access' to the device. Now some root apps, conflict with with services such as Books and Prime video is a cat and mouse game ( some do and some don't ). The biggest issue is that you need to keep your device from updating. If Amazon releases an update and patches the hole that the root uses to be 'granted root access' you loose root permissions and ie. all root apps and mods. There are a few ways to block Amazon updates but they might impact some Amazon apps. If you want Google Play along with all the Amazon apps, progress is being made. But I suggest rooting and trying to use a way to block updates so if Amazon updates you won't miss the root window. Take it with a grain of salt an ask yourself what you want from the tablet.
Thanks for the prompt replies!

Another new user who just got a hand on a HDX, though in my case its an 8.9. I've been wondering if I should root mine as well. I know that Google Apps don't require root, but I use Titanium Backup and a few other similar apps on my other tablet. I've read that its still dangerous to root at the moment however... Is it worth the risk?
I'm not sure why it would be dangerous unless you're installing shady apps by mistake but that's what SuperSU is for.
I thought I'd read that it was possible to brick the tablet while rooting elsewhere on the board, and sometimes get a bit paranoid about stuff like that. Thats all.
Ah yes, there's always that possibility which is why I said unless you need it, don't bother. Pretty sure you need root for Play store to work though I'm not 100% sure. The rest of the gapps work but ymmv.
Hmm... Is there another type of app like Titanium Backup that I'd be able to use without root?

Helium, previously known as Carbon.
I'm not keen on it personally (some backups fail to restore) but it does work without root.

An Alternate Approach To Rooting,

So recently I fixed my Kindle Fire HD 7 which had been bricked and something dawned upon me... We're spending hours writing scripts to hack Amazon's Software so we can obtain Root access. Instead of writing these scripts why not dump Amazon OS Rom, Add the Rooty Stuff, and then restore it via fast boot. That's what I did and have it to where it will not automatically update and lose the Root. Wouldn't this be a much faster and safer approach to Rooting? I apologize if I posted this in the wrong place. :victory:
