Hardware is I9020A.
I simply cannot understand how this is possible. I mean, I can usually access my voicemail by dialing my phone number.
Works fine in GB. ICS is a no-go. Even if I manually dial it. I can see it connecting ( the call timer starts ), heck, I can even delete my messages ( I can't here anything, but dialing 7 deletes em, and my VM icon disappears. )
Nothing comes to mind as to what can be the source of this problem...
Any suggestions ?
Thanks for the help.
edit : ANY version of ICS gives me the same problem. Kernel the same.
Hold down #1 in the dialer it'll dial your voicemail automatically

Go into the dialer and in the settings and change the standard star 86 to your own number then try dialing Voicemail using the 1 key, hopefully that works!

Yep, this is what I do and it works fine.
No luck.
My phone # is already set. Again, even if I dial it manually, I get **nothing**. I can see the timer rolling ( meaning the line is connected and something/someone answered ) but no sound whatsoever from the headphone.
This one has me stumped.
Are you sure your voicemail is working? Have you tried calling your number from another phone and accessing your voicemail that method?

Solved my problem.
I've always been using the XXKB3 radio on my i9020A . Always worked like a charm.
I flashed the UCKE1 radio, and got my voicemail going.
I also ran into this problem and was loosing my $#!t trying to get it to work and tried your solution and am glad to report, this has also fixed my voicemail problem

Sms also stopped working on telus using a XXKB3 radio.
I used to get the fastest upload speeds with that radio...

I'm having the same problem, could you guys explain how you flashed the UCKE1 radio? I'm a bit of a noob.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Ignore my problem. I simply had the wrong number entered in the voicemail settings.
Whenever I flash a new rom (ics) same thing happens to me(flashing new rom changes voicemail number automatically to *86). I just go to voice mail settings and change the voicemail number to my phone number and it works.
Hope this helps

I don't know if this is something I just need to be patient for or if there is a simple fix for but I can't get TiKL Push to Talk Walkie app to work for my HD2...
When I start up the app it prompts me with the following:
"Your phone is programmed with an empty number.
Verify it by going to your home screen ->Menu->Settings->About Phone-> Status->My Phone number.
Please call your carrier to get it fixed before using TiKL."
Has anyone found a fix for this?
Do they have that app in the market
I use Tikl with no problems with my HD2 Android. Any build, and I've used almost every one, except the eclair build. It's a great app, which I mainly use when I'm driving... so no more text and drive =)
What I know is that you can only talk to those who have android & Tikl installed. you must assign a contact or contact(s) who you want to talk to. Of course, like I said, the others receiving the call / connection MUST have Tikl.
Works fine for me I was able to tikl with MT wife yesterday with cm6rc1

When I go to home screen ->Menu->Settings->About Phone-> Status->My Phone number. It says unknown....
Thats where my problem is and I dont know how to fix it.
i have tried every build out there....still no success with this app. everything works accept this app....when i go to use it the connection just drops and and then i have to re-establish a connection...everything else woorks fine on the phone....im using miui android, 2.15.50.14 radio with evo cell rom....could you help?

not sure if you're still looking for an answer, but check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9140524#post9140524
i posted how i got mines working.
If you boot into wm you can set your number in the settings there, which saves it on the sim for android too. This got it working for me.
If so have you got it to work on your phone, I set it up as I did on my Tilt 2 and all seemed fine...
So today I get a voicemail and I dial my You Mail number and it says I have no messages
So I then call my number to be brought to the att voicemail box and my message is waiting in here
Any insight would help
Mine isnt having issues. Just tried it to be sure. Sounds like for some reason your att mailbox is in use now. Try resetting up youmail maybe?
I'm having the same problem
I set up YouMail but all my voicemails are still going to my old voicemail box. When I first installed it, it seemed to work fine and it downloaded some messages. But now all new messages go to the old voicemail box. Do anybody have any ideas?
i stumbled across (you mail) last night, got excited installed it, went to register and of course gotta have a US number for it to work. yet again Canadians no go.
EDIT: sorry for the rant. it has nothing to do with your questions, just saw the post and decided to reply.
I had to change the numbers in the call forwarding section of the phone settings. Did the same in the voicemail settings. Now when I push and hold "1" it dials YouMail.

This did not work I got
Call forwarding
Connection problem or invalid MMI code
You'll need to set it manually go to settings -> call settings -> call forwarding
You'll change: when busy, unanswered, unreachable
Use the number +17142043114

it's crazy... mine works, but i never set it up. i was using it on my iPhone 4, then started using the wp7 for a little bit and it was going to youmail. then i switched to my atrix and it continues to work w/o having to set it up again.
i'm guessing the quick code above changed my deposit number in at&t's system.
for the record: i did set it up on my i4, but haven't had to on any phone after.
Unless your call forwarding gets changed it should keep working.

You will have noticed that there are a couple of glaring issues. Voicemail notifications don't make it out of the app to anywhere in the phone (like the notifications bar). In the call log, outgoing calls get recorded as the Google bridge number instead of the number you dialed.
Please call Samsung. Inevitably the first layer of support won't be able to do anything so ask for 'Advanced technical support'. They obviously won't be able to offer a solution either, so ask them to submit a feedback ticket. If they receive enough of these, they will look into it with Google.
Happened to me the first couple days I had my phone. Did a reset and it cleared up the notification issue with Google Voice for me though. I've heard of others who got theirs on launch day have the same issue i'm guessing something to do with the activation servers being slammed.
What did you reset?

Just did a factory reset in settings.
I had a problem installing Google Voice at first too. An error pops up when it gets to the part where you configure your phone's voicemail setting. I just backed out of the app and restarted my phone. It's working fine now after the restart.
I got the voicemail notifications working by going back to 0.4.2.34.
Do outgoing calls show up incorrectly for both of you in the call log?
Google Voice is very very well integrated in stock ICS from what I've seen and confirmed to be working in CM9 already. As a new Android user without having used stock ICS I think I prefer some things in TW better so I wanted to get this working. Hopefully stock ICS and CM9 will be as good as users here rave about since that'll solve all the GV issues completely.

it's not like that on my HTC One XL; the contact/number i called shows up in the call log and i can redial from the call log. with my SGS 3, the bridge number appears in the call log and is unassociated with the contact/number dialed. for me, that's not good because i use my GV number as a biz contact number. and what's the deal with the email client... whoops! sorry, that's for another thread!
Wait, I'm lost.
I thought Verizon disables Voice. I can't make it work for voicemail. Same with my last 3 Verizon phones .
Google voice working well here too

I also have the bridge number in call log issue and this did NOT happen on the Galaxy S II.
An hoping that it's a Google voice bug rather than a bug in the T-Mobile version of ICS.

Hi
I have a little problem. Normally I should be able to just hold the "1 button" in the dialer and it should call the voicemail number stored on the simcard, but instead it says that the number is not setup and that I should configure it in settings. I then press settings and try to put in the voicemailnumber, but then I get an error that it couldn't be said and that I should contact my provider if the error persists.
I have called my provider but it hasn't helped much (they tried taking reassociate my voicemail from their side, they got me to change simcard and reset the phone, but still no solution)
So there are 2 problems:
Nexus4 is not reading the voicemailnumber stored on the simcard
and
I cannot manually set the voicemailnumber
This is on stock android 4.2.1 and the number is ported from a normal sim to a micro sim(and I know am running on another micro sim the said I should try)
Does anyone know what is failing and what I can tell my provider to get this fixed. I know it is minor annoyance and I am just calling voicemail from my contacts instead.
Best Regards
Hasse

Do you have google voice app installed on your phone? If you do try removing and then try adding the number,.
Thanks for the suggestions. The apn settings is correct - so they must have been read correctly from the simcard
I don't have Google voice installed(seems I cannot even get it in danish play store)
The problem also exists after doing a factory reset and 3/three has also replaced my simcard, but I still cannot set my voicemail number (in the settings of the dialer). So I'm thinking that 3/three in Denmark maybe are doing something wrong with the simcards? I will try later to put it into another phone and see how that work

Hi,
I've been using the Nexus 4 for over a month and I'm prety annoyed by a "bug" that I think there is on the phone.
I have all my contacts with their numbers complete (including country code) so for example numbers are: +54-911-3644-0386.
When I get a call from anyone on my contacts, most of the time, the phone properly recognizes the contact even if the number is shown as saved (with the +54) or if its only received as 11-3644-0386.
Now, my problem is on the call log. Most of the time it only shows the numbers, not the contact names. Please see attached call log with examples of what I'm talking about. In the two pictures, you'll see the number in the example above (Maria Rocio Antelo) recognized one time and shown as a number on the other.
Is there a way to resolve this? I've been using (prior of the nexus 4) my Galaxy Captivate with a LANIGHTv5.2_NODATADATA ROM and this issue wasn't present.
Regards,
Mauricio Jancic

I would add the number to your phone book as in the new number to your phone book. For example if you're phone log showed 123-456-789. Then I would add that number to your phonebook. Each contact can have various different numbers. It is frustrating, but that would be the simplest way to solve it. Another method would be using an alternative dialer.

It's odd that other JB ROM worked just fine and, also, that upon receiving the call the ID is propperly displayed (the caller is identified from the phonebook).

Well, then why don't you try a ROM for Nexus 4, since it worked on a different device with a custom ROM. I don't believe the stock dialer has very many functions. That may be one of the problems.
