Apologies for the double post but I'm dying to get my wildfire back working.
Rooted it yesterday with unrevoked, attempted to add the Openfire ROM this morning with everything going fine untill the reboot. I'm now stuck on the white HTC screen and have been for the last hour. Any help would be great, cheers.
did u do nandriod back up first

I backed up the stock firmware I already had manually, before it prompted on the flash.
did you do a full wipe before flashing the rom?
No i didn't, thought it would be safer incase something went wrong?
run your restore then I couldn't get it to work either

if you did a nandroid backup of your stock rom then you should be fine to wipe, since you did not wipe and flashed the new rom over your stock rom, apps and settings will conflict, therefore not work...
Right I see, I'm currently going through what I'm guessing is the restore....recovery - Nandroid, I'll let you know how I get on.
Thanks again.
Nope I seem to be getting nowhere here, can someone point me in the direction of the restore?
you didn't do nandroid backup did you haha, you'll have to install an RUU file to return to stock rom, or just do a full wipe and flash a new rom like openfire or wildpuzzle.
Where can I find the RUU file and how do I access my SD card? USB won't let me get to it, I'm guessing the phone is in charge mode?
go into recovery - partitons menu - mount sd card (or somthing like that) to open your memory card
Spot on, I'm on downloading an ruu file now, going to load it up with a stock rom then try flashing it again, but wiping it this time.
Infact how do I do a full wipe? I'm after the easiest way to get the phone booting up so I can flash it properly?
Anyone?
I'm still no further than I was three hours ago!
EDIT:
BREAKTHROUGH!!! =D
Restored it to before I flashed it incorrectly. Nearly threw the phone across the room in excitement.
go into clockwork recovery and click the title "wipe data/factory reset" and then flash the ROM you want to use.. to install a ROM:
- "install zip from sdcard"
- "Choose zip from sdcard"
- "click the zipfile"
- "yes"
- "reboot"
and if you want to install RUU dont ask me never done that

From the HBOOT screen go to recovery, then nandroid, restore, and to the appropriate time/date.
I've still had no luck with actually flashing the phone though. Back to Android 2.1 for me.
I'm 99% percent sure you have the OC issue some ppl incl myself on here have - try reinstalling openfire if thats what you wanna use - and then go to wildpuzzle thread - dl 0050 and flash it. If i'm correct phone will be fine and use openfire - but will NOT be overclockable. I wish Jacob had my phone or got hold of a phone w that problem...
I had problems with the Wildpuzzle 8.0.11 ROM, it would just sit there (did a ADB logcat on it, but I've lost the actual log... sorry! ) ignoring a duplicate entry (yeah, I did a full wipe . Removed WP and put on the latest OpenFire ROM... omg... what a difference to the stock ROM! Soooo much faster, even before I overclocked it.
I'd say, if you have boot issues with WP give OpenFire a go. Certainly worked a treat on my Wildfire.
Hey People,
So i rooted(Unrevoked) my Wildfire today, everything went fine it seemed. but after putting OpenFire on, it just did'n get past the OPENFIRE screen. i let it run for an hour+ in the end i got so hot i pulled the battery.
now i tried to Nandroid restore it, but it suddenly went B(lack)SoD on me and now the orange Charge light i just blinking and i can't seem to revive the phone HELP! Please
Kind Regards
Vicster
if you still can use nandroid. why don't use flash to another rom
so you can't boot back into recovery?
if you can, make sure you do a full wipe before installing a rom (always do a wipe when installing a new rom)
THanks for your reply's the phone suddenly came back to life...!! thanks alot everyone!

I bricked mine as well. It bootloops and then goes into the recovery. How do I put a rom on it so I can choose it to be flashed? I had a restore point but it won't work after I restore it.

in recovery, mount your sd card or usb, and put a rom into it. make sure your phone is plugged into your pc.
or take your sd card out and put a rom on it and put it back into the phone, then boot into recovery and flash it, simple enough?

lucky you! My wildfire cant go into recovery, battery drains out in 2-3 hours, now even with a new battery. I am so sad
@kevin2516
I was desperate enough to not do a search in the recovery menu. I did the thing with the sd card. I don't understand why my backup started bootlooping...
Hi guys,
I've tried using unrevoked 3.3 on my wildfire, with android 2.1, didn't work - so I tried 3.2 and I got the ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1 on there, I can boot into that now,
But still not knowing how to root it,
Can someone give me some advice from here, I get the "Internal error" message and can't go any further, but I assume you can manually do it, since I've got the clockworkmod recovery on there,
Toby =)

if you have clockworkmod recovery then that means you rooted it, just put a custom rom onto your sd card, boot into recovery and install zip from sd card. do a nandroid backup of your rom first.
When I try using Titanium Backup, I get a failed message...

Okay, I installed busy box and it says it rooted, does the clockworkmod matter what version you have?

Nope, you should be fine.
Thank you, I'll let you know how it goes, is Wildpuzzle rom trustworthy? It's been around for awhile right? =)
Yeah wildpuzzle is good, I used to use it.
I had abit of a freak out, I wiped my phone then couldn't load any custom rom =( But now its loading, hoping it works...
I don't know if the rom is loading or not, the screen with the android symbol coming out of the box showed up now and white backgroud with the "HTC quietly brilliant" animation seems to be sitting there forever,
I installed the SUnAaBh v1.1** rom from sc card,
Does this seem right?
First boot takes 10 to 15 min.
You should have done a nandroid backup of your stock rom first, oh well.
If it doesn't boot, do a full wipe, wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache in recovery and flash again.
After like 2 or 3 minutes, the screen goes black then the HTC logo screen comes back on and loads again, makes me think its in a loop and no installed right =\
Do a full wipe and try flash again. If it doesn't work, try a different rom.
Yeah, I did a back up with nandroid then moved the files to my computer incase, they was in a folder called orangeworkmod folder?,
Wipe cache?

Yes, you should wipe data and cache before installing a new rom. They are all there in recovery.
Okay, yeah - its all good, was just taking time, does wildpuzzle rom have overclocking feature, or is that a application?
Hi guys i just installed this ROM Vibrant_AOSPish_JK2 on my vibrant and all was perfect. Then i tried to condition my battery. Turned off phone with power cable connected and tried to go into recovery mod but phone stuck at vibrant screen. I pulled power cable turned off the phone and turn it on regularly and all was fine, then i turn it off again without power cable connected and it stuck again on vibrant screen. Then i went to ROM Manager and boot to recovery same thing happened phone stuck on vib screen. And now i cant turn it on anymore it stuck on vibrant screen every time. I tired to pull out battery... What should i do? Thanx in advance
Are you using the three button combo? If so and its still not working, try downloading quickboot from the market.

With the phone hooked up to the computer pullout the battery, sim, & sd card. Then try to reboot into recovery with the volume rocker & power button. Hope that works, good luck!
You need to install busybox to be able to boot into recovery in that Rom

I can't turn on my phone thats the problem... I tried the magic combo without luck... I had busybox installed. Maybe the problem was because i didnt have cwm properly installed. I renamed cwm installation folder to update.zip and that run it from 2e recovery. After that i can access cwm but need to repeat the procedure every time.
Finally i succeeded with Odin to solve my problem. Now im on stock rom again. Only this time i installed cwm 2.5.1.2 trough ROM manager but phone still goes to default recovery i dont know if this is normal? I want to flash to Froyo Rom where i can find clear tested version? Thank you guys for replaying and trying to help

I'm running cwm 2.5.1.2 also, and rooted with froyo+voodoo lag fix on vibrant, phone's running great, just trying to get rid of bloatware right now, my recovery boots fine, I wiped everything then reverted back to stock 2.1 when I had issues then updated through kies to 2.2, ran super one click root, and ran voodoo through odin, got rom manager from market and recovery worked perfect. hope this helps

the problem is, the AOSPish JK2 rom doesn't install busybox properly. You'll have to reinstall AOSPish jk2, then before rebooting, install busybox from the market. then it'll work. (the EXACT method has been described in the AOSPish jk2 thread many time, but hasn't been updated in the op)
I know for the busybox process i did that but something went wrong obviously. I repeated the process and for now everything is ok recovery is working. Thanx for help guys i appreciate that

Please can you elaborate...or point me in right direction......recovery is now only accessible by flashing it first....phone just wont do anything
download a 2.3.3 nandroid backup and restore to it using clockwork recovery
ignore odin.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884093
update to 2.3.3 using http://android.clients.google.com/p...2cf141e6a.signed-soju-ota-102588.f182cf14.zip
or just download CM7 and flash that along with gapps (wipe dalvik/cache/factory)
and your phone is not bricked. the definition of a bricked phone is a phone who cannot access recovery/fastboot/etc.. can access absolutely nothing
Well, he does say that his attempts to flash a rom always abort...
OP, we need more details.
Are you using Clockwork Recovery? Which version? Try an older/newer version...
What ROM are you trying to flash? Have you tried others?
What happens when you try a normal boot? You say you get as far as the first setup screen?
Have you tried a Factory Reset of the phone from within recovery (stock or clockwork)?

I think it might be okay now ....after titanium said busybox was installed....i dont think it was done correectly.....after downloading busy box from market....recovery seems to be sticking rather then reverting back to android. Just to check....is there anything i should do to check all is well on my phone and also while flashing i think i changed build number from IR to GH (what are the implications of this move? many thanks...phew
EDIT- NO recovery still wont stay....any ideas?

That's normal. See below:
It's normal to lose the recovery after the reboot, the steps to flash the CW recovery needs to be repeated every time you want to access the CW recovery.
This is due the build in protection in 2.3
As some one pointed it out on another topic, the good thing about this is that you'll never lose the stock recovery of 2.3, thus minimizing the chance of a bricked phone.
If you want to the CW recovery to remain permanently, you'll need to rename /etc/install-recovery.sh to something thing else
