hi,
i'm using my trinity a lot for books reading. i have them in *.txt format. i would like a suggestion of a program/database that will allow me to put them all together and view them easily, as well as search the text within them.
thank you very much
For putting them together you can use mobipocket reader (google it - the app is free) - desktop version can convert some formats, including .txt into its own file format and allows you to organise your books, sync them with your phone, etc.. I'm not sure about searching inside a book though.
you can also use ms free ebook reader they got a various formats->lit converter
I loaded some books in mobi format onto over USB, and they don't show up in the books section until I reboot. Is there any way to get the library to refresh without rebooting?
i think sideloaded books show up as documents
I convert them using Calibre and then sync to the device. http://calibre-ebook.com/

any presets you use?
Just convert to mobi format.
How do you do it?
Moving them to the respective folders doesn't work.
Magazines in .pdf format move to 'Docs' while Videos move to the Gallery.
Is there even a way to do this or is it restricted only to videos/magazines bought from Amazon?
I am trying to figure this out too. I do know a few things:
Newsstand items are stored in the books folder on the kindle.
Newsstand items use the .mobi file type.
I found through torrents a magazine that was advertised as being kindle fire format. I downloaded it and dropped it into my books folder and it showed up under newsstand like it was supposed to. I then opened up the file in Calibre to try and figure out what flag needs to be checked in order for it to be recognized as a magazine but I can't for the life of me find any difference between a "book" and a "magazine".
Also, if anyone knows a program, better than Calibre, that will list out the .mobi file's properties that would help and maybe help me pick up on what I'm missing.
I am going to keep experimenting but if anyone has any idea I would truly appreciate the help. The fact that I have magazines as books is driving the OCD side of me nuts.
Bump
I'd like to know the answer to this too.
oops never mind
Someone has to know the answer to this. =)

How do I fix PDF books that show up in Doc
Convert them with calibre to mobi and make there tagged with [EBOK] then transfer to kindle with calibre and they should go from docs to books
just as it says above
I've tried this and several other methods and was never able to get ebooks to show up in the stock Kindle reader.
Works for me. Nice tutorial with pictures. I originally saw a thread in the developer section on how to do this... tho lacking pics.
It sucks that one has to convert a mobi to a mobi just to change meta data... bonus points to some one who finds a quicker way to just edit meta data.

Hi,
is there any possibility to read PDFs with play book.
After a long search I finally found the folder in which the files of play book are stored. But these are only crpytic files.
And copying the pdf in there doesn't work.
try coverting the pdf to epub or mobi
