What I want?

!!! Read carefully, cause you went wrong sometimes (according your previous posts)
You have 3.05.401.1 test-keys already - no need to flash again
This ROM has root already (type su in terminal)
You need start from step 3

Thanks mate.
Is that tutorial good for me? Aking cause its for 1.76.0009 spl, and I have 1.76.0008. Need to be 100% sure right now
edit- according to answer in 15. post it is
edit2- instead flashing recovery trough ADB, I can flash it using FLashRec app, right?

I wonder that flashrec is UI only over same command:
flash_image recovery recovery.img
You can try, cause it is safe. Other requirements you met already (have flash_image and root)

Flashed the Amon-RA 1.7.0, but after few seconds in recovery phone freeze and restart.
Any suggestion?

As i wrote: read carefully
You need AmonRa Hero Recovery 1.7.0 not sapphire
Or try search for 1.6.2 sapphire recovery but patched by cursordroid

thank you 5[Strogino]

one more question, about flashing radio. Its required to have 6.35.10.19 radio version for ROMs, and I have 6.35.08.29.
Question is, can I flash radio using this method(I would flash only radio)?
Or I can use this method and flash everything automatically?

Fastboot Commander is easy and user-friendly flashing tool
You can flash only radio with it, no need to flash all. But if you want - you can do it too)

[HEKP] Rooting with One Click rooting from 'Perfect SPL'

Hi
I just need some of the experts on the forum to check my logic. I am in the middle of doing this so Im just trying to make sure.
Details of my phone:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H

I am aware that that is the 'perfect SPL'
I am using an HTC Magic from Vodacom (South Africa). The current version of my firmware is 1.5 (Cupcake).
These are the steps that I have already followed:
1.) I have succesfully changed my recovery image to this one -> Amon Ra’s Recovery Image using the One Click Rooting described by the guys from The Unlockr
2.) I can get into the recovery by pressing and holding Home + Power
My questions:
1.) Should I flash the SPL to a different one? I am looking at changing to this one: Engineering-SPL-HBOOT-1.33.2005-signed, will it work on my phone?
2.) If I need to flash the SPL can I follow the steps provided by this tutorial but instead of fastboot just use the Amon Ra's Recovery tool?
Processes to be followed:
1.) I will be changing to the RA-IONv1.6.2H ROM as provided on The Unlockr and I will be following the steps in their How to Load a Custom ROM tutorial.
As you can see, I have come a ways but I am a bit paranoid as I have previously bricked a phone. I would like some of the pro's just to check my logic and also comment on my choice of ROM and SPL.
Thank you in advance
You can use any of the SPL that are showed there... I'm using the Engineering SPL 1.33.2009 SPL...
To update it just put it on the SD and aplly update:choose (if you are using the Amon_Ra recovery) or update:update.zip if you are using another recovery (remember that if you use this method you will have to rename the file as update.zip)...
To install a rom it's quite easy, just put the rom in the SD and in the recovery make a nandroid backup, then wipe/factory reset and finally install the rom using the update option...
Restart and voila, you will have te rom... Just remember that you have to use a 32A rom...
Thanks No-Frost for the quick reply.
Another question:
If I flash the SPL, does my current ROM stay in tact or should I flash SPL and a new ROM afterwards?
Im very nervous to flash my phone again so Im trying to read up as much as possible about the process and ways to recover.
I have succesfully loaded the new SPL (Engineering SPL 1.33.2009 SPL) as well as the new ROM. The new ROM feels faster but I dont like it much. I am searching for a new one.
To answer some of my own questions:
- If you add a new SPL the current ROM still works fine (very noob question and answer but just for in case someone else has the same question)
- The Amon Ra's Recovery works very well. I prefer it to the fastboot. Just feels safer to do everything on the phone
Thanks for the help!

First ROM install trouble.

Sorry, everytime I go into recovery mode it just makes me think back to installing stuff in DOS. I've tried flashing several different versions of Cyanogen ROMs but to no avail. 4.2.5, 2.6, 2.6.1, 2.7, 2.7.1. All do the same thing. I can only revert back to fastbooting and reflashing the sappimg to get my phone operational again.
I've read somewhere that you can't flash 1.6 roms to 1.5 phones. But am I mistaken in thinking that the DRC83_base_defanged is the 1.5-1.6 bridge? Should I be using a different ROM first?
Just looking for a little guidance here. I've worked on things much more complicated than this and haven't had this much trouble. At this point I have a seperate SDcard with the sappimg.nbh ready to go.
first off check your fastboot screen again
it should say

also what base rom u using
i used HTC_ADP_1.6_DRC83_rooted_base.zip

I did whatever Cyanogen told me to. I used the DRC83_base_defanged.zip base rom. I tried wipe, flash base, flash 4.2.8, and I also tried wipe, flash base, reboot fully (failed), flash rom. Didn't think to try flashing, rebooting to recovery and flashing second half.
look for the relentless rooter in the dev section
cause ship s should be off
and don't reboot between rom installation

[Q] HTC Magic from Tim Brazil - 32A

RADIO-6.35.07.29

from what i read the SPL is perfect, can't change it or downgrade Radio.
I have to use Amon RA Hero Recovery 1.62, change to SPL 1.76.2007 and then downgrade Radio to 3.x SPL to 1.33x and install Amon Ra Magic 1.70+ to install CM
If i follow the CM wiki I won't be able to backup the stock rom because of the goldcard+european RUU to gain root access.
- So i was thinking about using Universal Androot to root it, then Rom Manager to Install ClockworkMod (using HTC Magic option) and do a backup. will it work with this 0007 SPL?
- from there, can i use clockwork to flash SPL 1.76.2007?
- then i was thinking if i could use Radio Switcher >"flash old" - so it will flash the Radio, SPL (and Amon RA recovery?) i need in a safe way (wiping everything)
if it makes sense it should be an easier and updated guide.
no need of goldcard, RUU or shell commands.
I can go back to Radio Switcher> "flash new" to have back the SPL and 6.35x Radio and restore the stock rom backup if someday Tim Brazil releases an update.
thanks in advance
Well - this is the most structured and accurate first post i ever seen :0)
You sir, have gained my respect :0)
You are completely on the right track.
I will not use Rom Manager. To many have bricked their devices with that app.
Follow my guide (check my signature for link) and you should have both root and custom recovery(Amon-Ra version) without changing your system, beside the root of course.
From the recovery you flash eng spl 1.76.2007 as you correctly stated above(also included in the guide).
Then make a nandroid backup using the custom recovery, to make sure you always can return to stock.
Once the eng spl is flashed you can use the radioswitcher(the link is also in my signature) to change between the old and new radio/spl/recovery combos. You can also wipe from the tool or from custom recovery.
The remaining is to flash the cm6 rom + the EBI1 kernel. Then you should be good to go :0)
Good luck!
Thank you
want to know the sad (and funny) part? I don't have the phone yet. I've bought it but i still got a few days left to receive it from Tim Brazil. So i've been reading...
I was hoping i could use Rom Manager, the GUI would be very easy to follow. I know it even has Amon RA as alternate recovery, but i don't think it's the Hero 1.62. I'd use it only to flash the recovery.
I think it could be done with FlashRec also. I read that it does a backup of the original recovery and then flash the custom recovery.
I've already downloaded the .zip from your guide

32b - SPL 1.33.0006 - Radio-2.22.19.26I - how to fix it?

Hi!
I am italian and i have this phone
Htc Magic Vodafone ( 32b)
I flashed many roms along these 2 years.
I decided to return to cupcake 1.5 to clean all the phone.
I used a tutorial on an italian forums, but I flashed from HBOOT ( vol- and power button) the 1.5 cupcake of the american mytouch 3g, only in english and with a perfect spl.
Then I received the 1.6 donut Ota, only in english again.
I tried to create a goldcar but after the procedure, the phone says that the memory is damaged and ask me to format it. I can't mount it to copy the sappimg.nhb
I tried to root it with superoneclick but I receive error.
------------------------
I want to change the perfect spl and after this, I want to flash the lighter rom that i can find. I don't want gingerbread.
Anyone want and can help me?

the phone can boot up with android 1.6 donut ( the american version of the mytouch 3g)
I will try your app.
Ok, with UNIVERSAL ANDROOT

I received the OTA of froyo I think, but I don't installed it because I thinked that was in english... for the mytouch 3g fw.
You can flash custom recovery (AmonRa 1.7.0 G is preferred)
And then custom ROM with tags [32B] via recovery

I installed the app ROM manager and with this I installed clockwork recovery.
then I flashed the custom rom Padron Froyo with the Gapps.
Know I have a phone rooted and with a custom rom 2.2.1 but I have already a perfect spl....
My aim was to flash the original cupcake 1.5 to upgrade with OTA to official stock froyo...........but I can't find an original italian nandroid backup of cupcake 1.5 to restore its and wait the ota.
But I think that I can accept this custom rom....
Now I have a nexus s, and I wanted to restore magic in italian language to use as a secondary phone.

It is possible, but will take too much time...
- You need search for any vodafone nandroid backup (i found UK backup, but link is broken, so need write to man who posted it and wait for answer)
- Even you have nandroid backup - you must check for hboot/radio compatability (nandroid backup does not contain hboot/radio, but new roms require new combos, so you need downgrade hboot/radio and it is very dangerous)
- even you have right stock rom - you may not receive OTA probably (google may cancel support)
Other method to search for clean nandroid backup with 2.2.1 update already. May be there are some people who like stock roms)
Not related to rom or kernel development.
Moving to General.

Stuck at splash screen!

So this is my old phone and my friend tried to root it about a year ago and now it only gets stuck on the splash screen! I can get into hboot and flash boot mode but that's all I know how to do.
I have a Droid Razr and I've rooted and flashed it so I know about the process' but not for the MyTouch.
I've seen it makes a difference if I'm 32a or 32b so for reference I'm 32b. I'd just like to hopefully get it un-softbricked. And preferably without having to connect to a computer, but if need be I will ( I don't have a USB for this phone, but I can manage the micro-SD with my Razr.
Please help!!!

Well my boy since u said it flashed sucessfully the rest should now be cake.
I'm aasuming u have the android sdk on your computer with fastboot installed?
The next step now is to flash a new recovery which u already downloaded and how u do that is to put that .img file into your android sdk fastboot directory boot your phone into fastboot mode and open a command prompt in your fastboot directory and type these
Fastboot devices (to make sure its connected)
Fastboot flash recovery "name of your file"
If u have a sucess here u have flashed your new recovery and should be able to boot into it.
The next step now is to flash a new radio
AND THE LAST THING TO DO IS FLASH A SPL THAT CAN WORK WITH YOUR PHONE..
Post your info again the updated info.

Edit #2: Successfully changed SPL i believe, updating phone info to reflect the change. Now im assuming i flash a ROM and i should be set???
Edit #3: I flashed that CronMod ROM you mentioned and when i boot, it sits on splash for like 10 secs and then reboots and its a continious loop. Im assuming that is probably just a bad flash? Im not used to AmonRa recovery. Is CWM still supported??
