I update my SGS I9000 two days ago to JV1 and so far there are only but problems. For example low ram, quick temp rising, slow loading time, lots of lags, and have removed the battery more than 20 times to make it work and a couple of non-booting problems...
edited : sorry wrong forum .
thanks man didnt know that (should have noticed though)
You do understand it is BETA right? alot of people do not understand this.... it means its in a testing stage and from posts 2.3.2 is at a very early stage.
No **** you have problems! Did you read the information accompanying the firmware leak? It clearly indicated that it was a early BETA firmware that will have issues.
Try webstar1 rom. Stable and smooth.

Have you tried to reinstall and factory reset? I installed JV1 and it's great. Fast and smooth.
this leaked version of gingerbread must be labeled as "test only" version.
you better wait for the final 2.3
obviously its a beta firmware, i reverted back to XWJS5. cannot stand the lags and hangs.
ps. u dont need to take out the battery, just press and hold the power button until it restart.
Beta .....
stop complaining dude. Its just a beta. i flashed it, experienced it, had some issues, flashed back to JS5 quietly. Thats it
And for ur satisfaction, yes there were heating issues. Thats the only reason y i switched back to JS5 otherwise i didnt had lag or any such other issue
The lag is because this ROM does not kill processes to free RAM as agreesively as the others. Go to the RAM tab on program monitor and do it yourself.
I've been running this ROM for 4 days and I don't see it so beta, I've seen cooked ROMs much worse than this. Most of the issues (swype, RAM management, Samsung apps not showing), have solutions that let's hope will be on the official version.
I don't mind if Samsung developers read this forum and use us as beta testers. This ROM could end being very good if they correct some stupid bugs and omissions.

A good point was made though, Samfirmware should clearly differentiate between firmware which is possibly beta, and firmware which is considered stable enough by Samsung to officially release it. Even better, they should link to forums discussing each ROM (and compile the known issues).
That would allow people to choose the latest known-stable rom easier.

with supercurio kernel all my apps working great, gps is even better (angry birds smooth and fast, web browser and flash as well)
with the same set of apps battery more or less the same as in doc 9.6.6
now testing jit in build.prop

this beta release works great on my phone....the biggest problem is the market app...i have flashed with pit 512, checked repartition. first wipe data factory reset wipe cache and removed lagfix
Great?
2.3.2 beta is seriously slow, I'm waiting for a proper final release.

no differences in ui speed feel (launcher pro, angry birds, etc)

Ha Ha here we go again, all Samsung firmware should be labeled as a "test only" version.
When we first got the phone and eclair ran like **** we excused it because it was a new device,
When the froyo leaks came and it ran like **** we excused it because it was beta.
When the official froyo came and it ran like **** we excused it because surely Samsung is just focusing on Gingerbread and that will be great.
Lets just call it like it is: Samsung does not know how to write a proper firmware for a mobile phone. Samsung's Gingerbread will suck hairy balls just like the roms before it

Except that in my opinion, Froyo doesn't run like **** (GPS still does seem to drop out more than I'd like though when driving)..
They do need to differentiate between released, and unreleased firmwares though.

I currently have the CM7 02-04-2011 nightly on her phone, but she's been experiencing some random reboots lately, so we're looking to wipe and re-flash.
Which version would you recommend? Does the current nightly (31) have any new features that she might miss out on, or new bugs?
Stability is more important for her, unless there are some new amazing features (or somehow the nightly is more stable).
Anyone have any input?
I can only comment on the glacier front.... but it's better than nothing.
I've been flashinf cm7 since alpha builds and have only had 2 re-boots.
Recent build is running very well. I'd flash the nightly and do a full wipe... flashboot -w if you are still having problems after a fresh install.
Very stable rom imo.

Interesting. Any show-stopping bugs or instability issues?
When I first loaded the newest Nightly build, (the 31st?), idk but it was released on the 26th of March, phone kept auto locking every 10 seconds or so. I rebooted once and it has been super stable ever since. Its only been a couple days but I have not run into any bugs. Although, for the MT4G I had go into the settings and enable "wake phone with roller button". I'm fairly new to all this stuff so I am still trying to figure out what my voicemail number is so I can manually put that in. Otherwise this baby is running smooth and I am very happy.

Ooh, awesome!
Man, I really wish there was some sort of changelog in between these versions for the major features.
[Edit]: Ah, yes! http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=glacier
Cyanogenmod 7.2 RC1
Could not locate any thread on this. Please post your feedback.
Euroskank have been releasing RC1 kangs since forever. Performance is fine, add-ons are nice. I love the ROM but it's not stable on crespo and crespo4g. Other devices are fine though.
I used one of the latest nightly's for a few days hoping they had fixed the stability problems, pulled my phone out of my pocket and found it bootlooping(dim/garbled boot animation loop, which was new to me as before I would just get the 'buttons lit up no responsive sleep of death' with previous versions).
I doubt 7.2 fixed anything with crespo.
Wish someone could figure out what the problem was as stock doesn't have these problems.
Love all the features and tweaks CM7 has over stock, but pulling the battery on a regular basis is not what I would call a stable release.
instability on a stable RC from CM is discouraging.
did anyone report this to CM team?
You can submit bug reports if you find anything broken in your device while running CM7.2-RC1 be sure to submit a report through here , so that they can fix it in time for the final 7.2 release.

It's a long standing issue with it, as far back as 7.0.3, probably even further.
It's hard to catch a log of the bootloops because they're don't occur in any discernible pattern that I know of.

Though there's many users available for logging. I've pulled a billion logcats of what was happening when it froze/bootlooped. When it freezes you can still adb to it.
Problem is no one seems really concerned over at CM forums, they'd rather add more stuff than root out 6+ months old problems. *shrugs*
Oxygen FTW. Never crashes on me.

I gotta say if you're going for CM7 based ROM, Euroskank kangs are awesome.
Like an intelligent flashaholic, when I first rooted my phone, waaaaaaay back over 2 years ago, the firs thing I did was make a backup of my stock/rooted setup, then saved a copy on my computer. Every few months, I'll nandroid back, update any apps that need to be, then make a new, updated Backup.
Lately, I've been having a lot of problems with my phone, trying to run Jellybean ROMS, which has been a disaster. Even ruinning Kendall's Jellybread ROM, I have some issues with lagginess, occasional Force Closes, etc.
Yesterday morning, my phone was basically not usable, and not having time to play with anything because of work, I just flashed back to my stock/rooted ROM, updated it and have been running pure stock since. The weird thing is, it's the best my phone has run. Smooth, fast, everything working (Of course this is still Froyo, but still). It's just really ugly as hell, but it's amazing how smooth everything is.
OK, time to flash a ROM.....

Hey hip, got a suggestion for your next flash.
Do your backup thing, wipe as usual, then flash rom.
Only this time before you reboot, push your log to sd. Then view it after everything is done...
Reason im saying this is mine would be fine then not...when I pulled the log fron recovery it actually showed that I had bad memory blocks an it was unable to repair/format/fix them..
Now my phone was and is usable still...but I cant flash all the roms. Only one that 100% worked was mazwoz.
So its just a thought bro, figured I'd share what I found. And without pulling the log I would have never seen it.

I pull the log most of the time myself and I also have bad blocks in multiple partitions. I have yet to have it cause any issues with any of the roms I flash. Also can I help you take over the world?!! Love me some pinky and the brain.

Lol, sometimes I forget that signature is there cuz I cant see it on Tapatalk. One of the Nocturnal guys made that for me.
Anyway, the roms would mostly flash on my phone. But some just didn't. I was testing rom for soap, tronit, an shaggy an none booted for me but worked fine for others.
Then I flashed say jmz rom an it worked fine. I started to notice that things weren't working.

Are MIUI mtz's universal or device specific?
I they are universal. I have some on my pc that i used on both the og and 3vo that my ex gf had.
FYI I dumped the preinstalled ics theme. So now any theme will install for the die hard miui user and the black ice mtz will be installed on the sdcard. The jb launcher is no longer default you can choose on boot which one you want. Now to get the ICS effect you go into settings themes and choose black ice. If you use the jb launcher you will need to go under launcher settings and reboot launcher. Now everything looks ics even the lockscreen.

I think it is. Because OnePlus keeps some Features to Beta only. For example the better Network indicator on Pie.
Thanks for the info and reply!
If you depend/rely on your phone for your work/studies/life in general: No, first beta of a new OS version is synonymous of bad battery life, performance issues, crashes, glitches, etc, etc. On the other hand, if your phone isn't an "important" part of your life and you have time to do a clean flash when necessary, go ahead.
Personally i don't like to wipe my phone twice to switch to beta and back to stable. I'm tired of setting up my phone every time i want to check out a new ROM..

I've been on the Open Beta for months. If the 10 beta is on the same track as the 9, I'm all in.
Well 10 has been out since July or so for our phones and has been stable since then. I been of and on 10 since then. Mainly depends on how custom of a system you want. Something's like bromite webview I cannot seem to get to work in 10. Carrier video calling is iffy with t mobile. And currently WiFi calling seems broken although it may be working in oos I am using aosip. Android auto mirroring works just fine. Aa browser seems broken but any webview works if you need a web browser for android auto. Other than that I cannot see any errors. Oh yeah one more thing is that I cannot seem to find a setting for agps I guess location is either on or off and apps can decide to use agps or not.
If your phone, like mine, is VITAL for work, and it's working fine now, I'd just wait instead of having to blow everything out and start for scratch. It's going to be released in a few weeks anyway, so what's your hurry?
