Wildfire debranded question - Wildfire General

Hello to all.
I'll get to the point... I've been wandering for several hours on this forum looking for information about rooting HTC Wildfire, and I found several threads. However my question is...
My phone is not locked to any carrier its "debranded" I can put any sim card I want. Majority of those threads I found were about debranding the device then rooting and installing custom roms.
This is my phone's info:
Code:
BUZZ PVT SHIP S-ON

If I use "HTCDev" tool to unlock my phone.. can I go directly to Cyanogen website and do the tutorial without using any other means such as "revolutionary". Just use the "Method via Recovery" and be done with it?
Thanks in advance.

Revolutionary unlocks your bootloader as in gives you S-OFF . Which allows you to do more things (For example mess with the internal memory of your phone). As for the HTCDev tool, I'm not sure, but some users say it doesn't S-OFF it.
And after you achieved S-OFF you need to flash a custom recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12782368&postcount=2

So with my HBOOT-1.01.0001 I have to use Revolutionary.. and then CM7
Since other people have 0002 they have to downgrade to 0001 is that correct or I have to download some RUU. I'm sorry for my noobishness but I've never done this.

No need to downgrade, just use revolutionary.

Thanks for the information.
I plan on using this guide "wiki(dot)cyanogenmod(dot)com/wiki/HTC_Wildfire:_Full_Update_Guide" with the "Method via Recovery"
I assume this is a valid tutorial?

use this link and just skip the downgrade part http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318
Hit "THANKS" if this helps.

I've rooted the phone using Revolutionary
My next challenge would be custom rom and I'm planning on using CM7 mainly for the overclocking ability.

I got the whole job done in a couple of Hours (including the downgrade from 0002), loading the custom CM Rom was the easy bit, messing with the config is ongoing
When I first flashed CM7.1.0.1, the GPS didn't work, I had to also flash the latest Radio from the CM Wiki support downloads. Check it's working after your upgrade, easy to fix if not

after that the device's screen change from bootloader screen to "hami" screen (with something orange apple icon) and stuck there. T_T (wanna cryy..)
any one have solution for this? thank you very much in advance
Same here
Exactly the save versions as yours.
I got one from Vodacom in South Africa yesterday, and none of the rooting guides seem to work. I'm really only interested in "tethering" with my phone, as I'm often on the road with my laptop and haven't had a need to buy a second modem just yet. Was hoping I could use the Magic in the same way I used my Nokia.
Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried PDANet yet?
I had same problem , how i solve is to download the recovery.img and the update.zip from the following , you cannot use standard version.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=523913
you must ensure that you use update.zip from here else after the update you won't be able to start up.
first do download both
daldroid-htcmagic1-signed.zip and daldroid-recovery.img
and copy both to the sdcard follow same step
rename daldroid-htcmagic1-signed.zip to update.zip
restart in fast boot mode , and run command.
fastboot boot daldroid-recovery.img
hope this help.
Your HTC Magic is different than the HTC Magic from Vodafone.
HTC Magic from Rogers US, TIM Italy, 3 Scandinavia, Vodacom South Africa and more are the original HTC Magics from HTC - they have different SPL, Kernel.
So you can only root through the metod as stated above - Daldroid made it possible.
For the time beeing you can´t flash other roms than Daldroid´s with root, without trouble.
Incidentally, it seems that the Rogers Magic is quite a bit similar to this one...
The Rogers HTC Magic reports the following on the fastboot screen:
Code:

Not sure if daldroid's method will work on the rogers one.... there is a bit of a difference in the model number.

You can follow the progress on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517948&page=22.
A rogers user reported success flashing his ROM.
go to the latest (as of current time) posts on the thread.
One user reported he successfully flashed a rom, but he had to change the SPL. As Rogers stock SPL and radio are newer than the flashed one, furthermore no spl image is available to restore the original, I suggest to follow the thread and verify the progress with a second user I asked to make some test.
I don't have Rogers myself, cannot test it for you.
Can anybody help ive followed all the magic rooting tutorials but when i enter fastboot boot recovery-new.img into terminal i get the following message "cannot load boot-new.img" i have all the drivers installed and have followed the wiki exact plus ive read every page of the rooting thread in the development page and searched the rest of this forum i have a uk vodaphone magic, cheers inadvanced

Alright, so here's what I've done so far.
-Grabbed Daldroid's "daldroid-recovery.img" and the signed rom, which was renamed to "update.zip".
-Copied both onto my SD card.
-Fastbooted my Rogers Magic using "fastboot boot daldroid-recovery.img"
-Performed a Nandroid backup
-Wiped the data
-Applied the "update.zip"
-Rebooted
I got the Rogers screen, then the HTC Magic screen, then the HTC chiming screen where it made me wait for a bit. Buttons flashed and voila, I am booted into a different rom (no Rogers crap).
I confirmed that after flashing, my device info still says HBOOT-1.33.0009. At no point did I attempt to flash Haykuro's SPL or change the radio, as it's still 3.22.20.17.
I think I'm doing things right, so hopefully this info helps
Edit: Tried flashing QTeknology's Optimized Hero Rom, and it hung on the Rogers screen for a long time (waited at least 5 min), but was able to revert to the Daldroid rom.
Edit2: It's the same situation for other roms, like nk02's ported Rogers rom. It looks like .0009 is a no-go.

Can you please tell me where I can download these files. Thanks for being so helpful and taking out time for others.

Flashing the mytouch outside the U.S

hi,
I have a hand-me-down mytouch that was (I suppose) formatted and set to factory settings and given to me yesterday. The phone is carrier locked I think, since insertion my SIM card asks for a network password.
My phone is of the 32B variety.
I think you can request t-mobile (nicely) to give you the network code, but it wont be possible for many days atleast. And I want my 2.1 now
I tried Cyanogen's method and I think it comprises of 3 steps:
1. using a FAT32 SD card to flash COC10 build. This has been done successfully.
2. Using FlashRec to do backup and install another kernel. I'm not exactly sure what this step does and whether it is a mandatory or optional step. I cant do this because of the lock.
3. Install latest versions of update-cm-5.0.7-DS-signed.zip and gapps-ds-ERE36B-signed.zip . I havent reached this step yet.
Could someone help on what I should do - at this point, I am not being too picky about various ROM flavors and I'll use anything that works.
Thanks in advance.

Just making sure but you do realize rooting and unlocking are 2 different things. By rooting your phone you can get 2.1 etc... but you're phone will still be locked to T-mobile.
U can't get a network code from t-mobile and they said I have to be customer. Now my myouch is and ipod touch: '(. Might have to bite the bullet and buy 1.

Try an online unlock service?
@cten1 - went to ebay and bought an unlock code for 10.90$ (that particular value is used by only one of them .. and I didnt want to give free advertising to anyone). I chose that particular seller cos he had a very high rating for unlocks and claimed that the unlocks are generated off HTC database, not T-mobile's
I got the unlock code in 20 minutes or so - he just requires the IMEI and the phone details (like I gave in the second post)
Well worth it - I suppose you can try it.
Oh and thanks @mydevji13 - I actually didnt know that rooting and unlocking were different things. I now have Cyanogen 5.0.7 (Android 2.1) on my phone.
I think it is the most newbie friendly ROM out there.

I can speak only for myself, but what I'm telling now i think is 99% accepted.
However I can not take any responsibility for your actions.
1. Usually it's safe to try any custom ROM with will NOT put your security on ON.
2. I only had problems with Rogers stock ROM which did not flashed correctly even if it said it did.
3. If you have S-OFF, you can recover your phone most of the cases if it boots into fastboot.
4. However, if you get S-ON, you can recover your phone with goldcard if you have a higher version of the ROM (I don't recommend you to get there)
5. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE HBOOT - RADIO PAIR YOU FLASH. IT CAN GIVE YOU SERIOUS HEADACHES. Search which pairs are compatible
6. READ CAREFULLY, BUT CAREFULLY EVERY TUTORIAL BEFORE STARTING TO DO ANYTHING
7. AH. DON'T EVER BE IN A HURRY WHEN FLASHING CUSTOM ROMS AND BE SURE YOUR PHONE IS FULLY CHARGED
8. The rest is history and, as always, GOOGLE is your friend
Good luck.
thanks .
my info of my phone is :

Read this thread.I think he had same problem like you.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307631
He also mentioned that anyone has this problem,pm to him for asking help.
I just sent a msg to the poster, in more detail the phone is not rooted, and I am assuming the radio version is conflicting with the rom version. I have tried to flash both the radio and rom I am just not sure which version should be which so I dont get the same error message as stated in that thread. Can I even properly flash the radio when I am not rooted, considering S-on? Can I turn this off? Thanks.

It is on Official GB,no? So yet there is no way to root official GB.So you just have to downgrade to Fryo 1st.Then Flash. Here is the link about downgrading
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912
Well the only way to downgrade that bootloader is to actually be able to boot the phone and temp-root it first. So that requires a bootable phone. The only ROM that version of the bootloader will accept is the newest Gingerbread.
So what you might need to do is:
- Flash the signed stock Gingerbread ROM here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264704
- Then if you want to root, you'd follow the guide that requires temp-root in Gingerbread, and then misc-version to allow downgrade to 2.2.1
- Then from 2.2.1 you can follow the guide to Radio S-OFF and then flash whatever you want.

Looking for a SIM-Unlock HTC Wildfire

Greetings friends, some of you know or have a SIM-Unlock HTC Wildfire, I have a phone of these and I could not release it so I could put a simcard from another carrier, as it is DIGITEL and I want to use with MOVISTAR, and the Phone is S-OFF, the ROOT and also has the 2.2.1 version of Android FROYO.
If anyone knows of a utility that Serve me and is not to pay online because I have no way to pay in another currency because we have here in VENEZUELA with Limited Dollars. Thank you very much for all your help provided.
The only way i know of is from a shop that unlocks phones or via a code from ebay or similar. We @ xda have seriously tried to find a method but failed. Sorry but it looks like your going to have to pay up some dollar.

im 2 looking for a solution i have brought my wildfire 2day and need it sim unlocked please some1 help or point me in direction of good company/shop. thanks and im new here and not used to android i am coming from blackberry so its all new but so far i like it and hello to you all. just another Q. i have been told by my friend to s-off. I dont know what this is :S but i was told to search so i will do my search and hope to learn more about this s-off thing then use another person rom on my wildfire
S-OFF means that the security flag has been turned off, which allows you to install a custom recovery and unlock the full potential of your phone
You can still install a custom recovery when S-ON (HTCDev unlock), but being S-ON doesn't allow you to edit anything on the internal memory once the OS is loaded.
Best way to achieve S-OFF and install a custom recovery. is to use Revolutionary.

Well, once you get a custom recovery running, you can then install custom ROMs, tweaks and mods and stuff.
