Has anyone also glitches when he uses the camera? When I want to make a video I have during the recording glitches and sometimes he stays on a view..

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone else has had issues with the forward facin camera in chat apps like fring or qik. On mine the video is rotated 90 degrees and the video is squished. When I use the built in camera app I notice the video is in landscape, but in the chat apps it is making it portrait but instead of cropping its making it look horrible. Anyone else getting this? Anyone got a fix?

When I record audio in WhatsApp, the sound is very compressed and noisy.
Recording using the phone's default Voice Recording app records fine and sounds great. This only happens inside WhatsApp. When my friend records something on his iphone to send over WhatsApp, it sounds great... crystal clear.
I can record using the Voice Recorder app, and then share it via WhatsApp, but the person receiving it cannot play it.
Could someone else download WhatsApp and try recording an attachment?
The compression/distortion is much more noticeable when recording something other than a voice, like a guitar.
edit: I emailed their support and they said they have no such issue
Well your still a step ahead of me, I can't get Whatsapp to record what so ever, even when I record a video with it it comes out with no audio at all. As far as I know this only happens in Whatsapp, all my other apps can use the mic.
So yes there is an issue with it.

Are you using a custom ROM?
Maybe that affects it for some reason. Like I said their support tested it with a GS2 when I emailed them and they said it recorded and sent fine in normal quality.
I'm using Congnition 1.15

Mines all stock, not even rooted. So I couldn't have crippled it.
Honestly I don't have any use for it so I didn't really try and find what's wrong.
Like you I was testing Whatsapp with an iPhone and the audio I received from it was crystal clear but what ever I send comes out blank with nothing to hear. It's like it can't use the mic.

I feel like their support might not even be able to notice the difference in compression lol.
It makes no sense that it would compress it on my phone but not on theirs

Yeah, I even told them to record the same thing in WhatsApp and in Voice Recorder and they claimed it sounded the same
That's why I'm asking you fine gents to test for me
Well I just reinstalled whatsapp and surprisingly enough the audio works now and I can confirm that whatsapp seems to compress the file cuz the quality isn't as good as the stock voice recorder, but it's not that bad imo.

if you're just recording your voice its not that bad. But anything else sounds awful

Yea probably. Well I guess the best thing to do is just use some other service in the mean time. Doesn't look like they'll fix it anytime soon.

I realized that it sounds just as compressed if I use a 3rd party voice recording app
I wonder why the stock recorder app has perfect quality audio while 3rd party apps sound like crap

Hmm it might be an Api or driver but I think they're all compressing it to decrease file size and thus traffic on their servers. Cuz for instance if you send a photo it doesn't send it with the full resolution but lowers it to maintain file size. So i'm guessing they do the same to audio files.

Hi,
I have recently started using CM9 for my Xperia Arc, its really apart from one fault with the video recording. As soon as I select the video recorder it freezes and the worst thing is I can hear what I assume is the shutter of the camera.
Is this a bug?

I'm using the latest aurora ics by dzo update 4.1.1a, and when i try to configure the video and camera settings i see a lot new features and settings.
Can anyone tell me the best configuration to record [email protected](if possible) videos with the best audio/video quality and also the best configuration for the camera in order to take good photos?

I tend to use a third party app on this phone, because I haven't been happy with the results of the stock camera. There is a kick to processing time though. I think the camera is generally pretty lousy though, so don't expect great quality.

I like Pudding Camera for free and Vignette (paid). These only do stills though, to be honest, I don't often use the video camera. When I do I just make sure it is set to 720p.

That's not even an issue. Smart features only work on the stock samsung apps which is a shame.

That is an issue, i believe in the ad (first post), Samsung is showing that smart pause works on the youtube app.

I've tested it but it works not always. The light conditions have to be very good :/
It works fine on the stock video player so I don't see why it wouldn't work in the youtube app under the same lighting conditions..

He's right. Tried using youtube in bed, lights off and smart pause doesnt work. Other than that, it works flawlessly.

Works on YouTube for me, just not in low light which is understandable considering how bad pictures look in low light, hows software meant to see our eyes if we can't

Smart stay and smart pause works with the youtube app. As they said, your face should be clearly seen for it to work properly.
It works for me. It drove me crazy at first because I didn't realise it was enabled, and wondered why youtube seemed to be buffering every couple of seconds.
