[Q] Android 2.3.6 "Gingerbread" with pt_br? - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a Android 2.3.6 "Gingerbread" sbf with pt_br language support? I read this thread completaly http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537 and did not find there, since I'm a newbie in this forum, i can't ask there... I appreciate in advance for any help. Thanks.

Since no one answered, I guess there is not . If there is not, I change the question a little bit...
Is there a way to get the dictionary and "locale" function from another place and insert in one of the sbf's? thanks!

Well, I don't know about changing dictionary and locales. But maybe I can help with the first question.
There is no official Android > 2.2 in Brazil, which means you will not find an Android 2.3 SBF. At least I don't know. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
However, I strongly recommend to use the Cyanogenmod 7.1 (which is stable) or even the 7.2 nightly (which is pretty stable to me). Both have the Pt_br locale installed. For this, you will have to root your phone and install the bootmenu/recovery, and finally install the selected ROM.
If you go to this page you will find the list of SBF's (just google 'motorola defy wiki xda-developers' and use the second link)

[QUESTION] Porting from Buzz

Anyone could port this rom?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=867937
ask such question in the Q & A or relevant thread moved to general
There is already a ported buzz(wildfire) froyo rom in developing section.
Is there any specific reason to want this rom, or you just didn't search to find the rom I mentioned above?
If you just want to have froyo with htc's home screen search for the above rom(froyosense the name).
Because this rom isn't the chinese version, but european version...
So, you say that this rom haven't chinese language support?
Maybe it isn't activated. Have you tried morelocale2 to activate chinese?
If you cannot activate them, it's better to contact with the author of this rom to ask him to include them.
No he means that this is the official european version and not a leaked chinese.

I guess you were talking about following ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=816580
as inestain said the above ROM is made from chinese RUU, which has bugs not solved and the developers has kind of stopped developing it any more.
Few bugs in the following posts
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9243920&postcount=244
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9302591&postcount=249
Although i could solve gps localisation it still needs more fixing like hw button leds and root issue etc.
And i think there are few permission issues as well.
In the past few DEVs have expressed interest in porting if a european RUU gets available.
So I thank inestain for bringing the information.
Sorry I am not going to port it (as i am not dev and I just try things out)
I think could be interesting to try the 2.2.1 qvga htc_ime keyboard
not so different...

[Q] Froyo 2.2.1 and GOLDCARD. Install unbranded rom

I have a question about goldcards
I've installed sometime ago the Froyo 2.2.1 OTA update. (what a pity !)
I've a spanish branded wildfire by vodafone.
My question is: with a goldcar could I install some HTC official rom (the ones that came in a exe file) or google official rom or any other to unbrand my phone ?
I'm not speaking about rooting because we all know that today is impossible for 2.2.1.
Anyone could post a link for that kind of roms ? Could I install it ?
Thanks a lot.
NOTE: If you post a link, please, send us if it's a spainsh rom, and if is htc's one or google's one or whatever.
Im interesting too in roms signed (specially if there is some without sense, but i think there isnt though).
Please, 253 views and none knows about it
Please, help us. May be a link ?
Thanks a lot.
There are another 2.2 threads
Please read before posting

[Q] I need some basic help over here! :( - Admin could you move this?

I tagged this thread as "Q", cos ive been sniffing through XDA-forums and I have got a lot of questions. I hope someone can help me.
First of all, Im new to Android, in the Developing side, and also the Flashing side. I would like to learn more about it, but flashing now is my priority.
So related to flash:
I have got a Samsung Galaxy 3, and I cant understand the ROM naming pattern. For example:

What do this mean, most important, how do I may know if its compatible, whith my phone, im from Spain, so I guess I need a Spanished-language ROM.
What about Custom ROMS?
I saw this one: [ROM] Kyrillos' ROM v4.1 Ultimate Edition, a very cool ROM, but I dont even know if the OS will be on Spanish.
I read something about Country codes or something like that, but I couldn't find the "sintax".
Another important question about flashing, how can I avoid a brick? Maybe some kind of Bootloader with nand copy? Maybe I'm ****ed if I fail? :/
Another one:
Do I also need a extra firmware?, maybe a combination of both?, I'm used to flash PSPs and so, I remember that I should had the official firmware...
Final notes:
As u guys can se nowadays I'm a total noob when flashing and so, thats why I would appreciate a lot any sort of help.
Maybe my question were answered before, but I couldn't find em, even with the search bar, if so, please show me some link about it
I hope I'd opened this thread at the correct sub-forum...
I love the forum desing, its seems a serious forum, well organized and clean, I hope could stay in here for a long time
Thx a lot for reading.
P.D: Sorry for my poor English and so, I'll accept any corrections ^^'
-> Okay I placed it wrong.... -_-" the idea was to place it here: Android Software and Hacking General, or maybe here: Galaxy 3 General admin!!! help T_T
I don't wanna repost, please Admin move it T_T
----------------------------------------------------------
Edit:
I've flashed succesfully my Galaxy 3, into Froyo, thx to slumpolo, and some other memebers of this forum ^^
From now on I'll be on forum, for developent matters, thx 4 all ^^

[Q] Extracting ROM from a phone

Is it possible to extract the ROM of android HTC DZ ?
if yes,
- does it have to be rooted ?
- Can I flash it on another phone (same model) ?
Not exactly clear what you are trying to do. Are you trying to migrate an exact image of your current phone (with settings, data, etc) to another phone?
Here is what am trying to do:
My phone does not have Arabic since I bought it from the UK and my friends here have the Middle East version which contains Arabic. HTC refuses to install the Arabic on phones with IMEI not for the Middle East so I was thinking if I can take a copy from another ME phone.
Is it clear ?
why dont you just download more locale 2 from the market and add arabic language
i think youre gonna save a LOT of time ; )

Android 2.2 does not support Arabic and so there is no such thing as Arabic language in Market.
Android 2.2 displays Arabic letters but from left to right and not connected. HTC added layer to support correct RTL script and this is what am looking for
It might save you the hassle or create more, but there is an Arabic rom posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933961

Thanks for the help, this is great except for one thing; it is Android 2.2 while my phone currently is running on 2.2.1 so it is a sort of going back
Similar to above suggestions, I think what you want to do if flash either a custom ROM, or an official ROM, which supports Arabic. Either way, you'll need to be rooted, plus S-Off and SuperCID. This would be easier than doing a ROM dump from your friends phone (and you would still need to be rooted to flash that).

My problem was not finding official Arabic ROM (now found) and almost all custom ROMs do not include Arabic support. I am proceeding with rooting
I flashed the thing on my mobile, it has 1.83 firmware which removed my root. Now am downgrading the f/w again
Here you can find a lot of stock ROMs

You can search this site or use another more basic site. Try this: www.ajudandroid.com.br/2011/11/cyanogenmod-tezet-para-milestone-2.html
If you have to do a restore of the original system, then you need Windows programs (www.appunix.com.br/howto/linux/goog...icar-osreload-de-rom-original-do-motorola-m2/) or use the sbf_flash for Linux (search google).
If you upgraded from the site of Motorola (2.3.6), you are with the new European GB Kernel. Your choices are more restrictive to put custom ROM's. Again, do a search on the site that is packed with information you need to know.
But most importantly, read, read and read all instructions and follow all the steps. You can brick your Milestone unless you know what you're doing.
