I was stock 6.2.1 rooted, installed twrp and made backup. Flashed cm7 got it running, made backup, went back to kindle rom. Flashed miui same way as cm7, got it running, although my purchased amazon apps wanted me to repurchase. Made backup, tried to restore to kindle, stuck in miui now. What do I do now? My backups are still showing, just wont restore.

EDIT: I had changed the name of my backups so I would know which backup was which. If you do this, make sure to keep the date first then whatever you want after. Fixed that and back to kindle os.

Nope, tried multiple times. Just goes back to miui. Even tried to reflash cm7 and try restoreing from there. No go. Like the miui disabled those backups.

I believe there are roms of the original kindle software out there that should work. If not, hopefully you did a backup before installing other roms

Use kindle fire utility
In KFU there is a function that allows u to download the stock.zip folder
then just flash that in twrp
After researching for many weeks on how to root my Kindle Fire, I finally became a noob and rooted my first device. Thanks to all the awesome devs on this site to make that possible.
The next thing I want to do is start flashing some different ROMs to see what my Fire can really do.
After I flash a ROM, do I install data from a previous backup or do I have to start from scratch each time I install a new ROM?
If someone could help shed some light on switching between ROMs (I will be using TWRP) or point me to a thread that might cover this topic I would appreciate it very much. Thanks for your help.

Depends on what data you are talking about.
General when switching between roms I follow a procedure.
1.Back up current apps with titanium backup.
2.Back up launcher settings with whichever launcher I'm using.
3.Boot into recovery.
4.Factory wipe - dalvik,cache,data,batt,rotation.
5.Flash rom.
6.Boot rom.
7.Restore apps from titanium.
8.Restore launcher settings.

Correct, that's why you need to backup with TB
Just trying to jump into this same world, what happens with all of your books and applications from Amazon when you switch. Does Amazon still push your books to your Kindle.

you can still access your books through the Kindle app and all apps I've downloaded when on stock ROM have worked on my CM7 build

Thank-you BluesHawk, I took the first step last night and installed TWRP along with Burritto. Now we'll see how long it takes me to be brave enough for the next step.

Actually TWRP has Ann option to backup data, and I have used it. Never needed TB myself
I just started using TB because it can reliably/easily move apps to SD - freed up LOTS of device memory. Though Apps2SD ran on my rooted stock Fire, it wouldn't give me the option to move them.. In fact, when installing and running Apps2SD, it never requested superuser rights.
I believe I have all the files in the right place to install CM7 barebones. I was wondering, if I wanted to go back to my stock rooted ROM if it was just as easy as installing the backup I created with TWRP. Guess I could unroot and remove TWRP and start from scratch but I am hoping not to go that route.
I think bob posted this same question in another thread but I thought I would ask here too to see if we could get more answers.

would never ever flash the original stock rom (besides if returning the kf) cause you loose fff,twrp and root
furthermore there is a higher risk to brick
would instead recommend to flash one of the prerooted stock roms if you want to go back to stock:

to get back to your previous state in case something goes wrong
Today I flashed cm9 after backing up cm7.
After I was done playing around with ics, I restored the cm7 backup.
Much to my horror it wouldn't boot beyond fff. It just hung at the boot animation screen with a black screen.
Thankfully though, I had made a stock rom backup that was functional and working.
Is there anything I can do to recover the cm7 backup and make it work again?

Hi folks. I just sold my rooted Kindle Fire which I used TWRP on. I know i've done backups and want to make sure the new owner cannot restore them. How can I make sure ALL backups of any kind of deleted? thanks.
Go to the twrp backup folder and look.
Don't have Kindle in front of me now to give exact wording of dirs.

Hi all,
I was hoping someone could shed sime light to my situation. I have a rogers S4 and I rooted it via motochopper and it worked fine. Restored all my apps from Titanium backuoband all was well.
This morning my phone then got stuck at the samsung boot screen and I had to wipe data via the stock recovery to get iy working again...
Can anyone tell me why this is happening? This is thr 3rd time this has happened

My guess would be the titanium backup. As it can mess things up, once in a while.

I would blame TB mess ups more on old data being restored that causes problems, than TB itself.
OP... Are your app backups from a different ROM? If so, then I would try restoring without data. Or fresh app installs.

are you restoring system apps? or just user apps? if you are restoring system apps or something like the messaging storage, will normally cause problems in TB.
best to just connect to wifi and download all the apps again from playstore.
What I would do is odin back to stock do not restore anything for a day or 2, and monitor it. If it never does it again, then it was your backup, keep in mind some apps that worked on the G3, may not work on the G4.
Yes, this is Titanium, it happenned to me too, remember that doing that is like copying everything in the C: Program Files of a PC, formating the computer and restoring that folder, it might work, but you might end up in a lot of trouble overtime since the OS installs different part everywhere. Use Carbon aka Helium, its a much cleaner way to go
I was restoring apps (with data) and the backups were from older ROMs I used in my nexus 4. I am currently trying a non-rooted method for a few days and see if this problem reoccurs

UPDATE: so far so good... My setup is currently unrooted and I haven't had this issue appear. I'm gonna root in a few days and monitor it again
