Decided to help out and with the ok from ihtfp69 i wrote up a FAQ page
for everyone who uses Sky Raider Rom 3.3 Final
feel free to add.
zip is 180,304 kb
Sense 3.3 Requires a FULL WIPE
to avoid reboots make sure you have S-Off, Upgrade the radio to the OTA version
Wipe everything:
Factory Reset
Data Cache
Dalvik Cache
then apply SR 3.3
The initial boot animation is only there for the first boot and reverts to the original thereafter.
The fix for Rom Manager for fix permissions requires you to open Rom Manager once and then it will work after a reboot
Q: How to flash the ROM?
A:good info here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709220
Q: Since 3.3 requires a full wipe, due to all the changes, I was wondering if the MM mappings for the rosie launcher are still compatible with this new release.
A: All of the mappings are new so make sure you clear out the old ones and download the new ones.
Q:how to Change your lock screens from adb or terminal shellLock
A: there are 13 different lock screens including the HTC one
You must be on SP1 or higher to use them
Change your lock screens from adb or terminal shell
Type 'tabunlock' or 'rotaryunlock' to get the menu seen below
Please choose from the menu - S-OFF REQUIRED
1) normal
2) normal+menu unlock
3) normal+trackball unlock
4) music buttons
5) music buttons+menu unlock
6) music buttons+trackball unlock
7) restore HTC lock screen
8) get me out of here!
reboot
Q: how do you get a logcat?
A: Run CMD prompt and in while in the root folder sdk/tools/ run the command "adb logcat" copy paste all you see onto pastebin.com and post the link. or download logcat from market
"HTC Mail Mod for EAS Admin Removal" You just go to settings -> security -> remove admin policy
Any chance someone wants to actually put this on the wiki?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Droid_Incredible
There is a ROM section in there and would be a much better location than in a forum post.
What do you guys think?

hi
I am running SkyRaider 3.0 Sense RC3 but I have been unsuccessful in updating the radio. I've tried HBOOT but it doesn't like the image, tried renaming to update.zip, tried running the zip from Recovery.
Please advise.
thanks
Jack
Hello,
I would like to know what is "HTC Mail Mod for EAS Admin Removal". Is this some kind of feature?
I would like to disable the PIN Lock on my phone that is enforced by my companies security policy. I used to use LockPicker on Android 2.1 but that no longer works. Is there another solution for Android 2.2?
Thanks.
Nevermind I found it. You should add this to the FAQ. You just go to settings -> security -> remove admin policy (forgot the actual name since after I removed it, the option is no longer there)
Im having a couple of problems
1) I cant get my Yahoo mail account to set up, I have installed the Mail Mod from ROM manager.
2) I am trying to install an application from the market and i am getting the error saying I dont have enough space to install. I really dont have many apps so i dont think thats accurate. I have cleared the market's cache, data, and restarted the application, problem still persists.
Thanks for the help

Check to see how many saved backups you have. Each backup can be upwards of 300mb's. If you have more than three that could be the problem. Happened to me once before. I got rid of a couple unnecessary backup files and freed up over half a gig of space. Apps from the market installed with no problems again afterward.

Q: How to enable Tab Lock Screen with Sound Controls?
A: You need to remove the HTC lock screen to get to the underlying stock lock screen, get into Recovery, mount system, I go into adb shell to remove
cmd prompt
Code:
c:/sdk/tools>adb shell
~# (showsup) mkdir /system/app.disabled/
~# mv /system/app HtcLockScreen.apk /system/app.disabled/

You have to let it sit for a good while... mine took like 5 minutes after changing the lock screen.
Is it normal for it to take up to 3 hours to complete? Cuz that's what keeps happening

There icons that can b changed through metamorph. I made mods to mine with colored icons like bluetooth, car mode, sms, gmail, email. Two kinds of email- basic email app icon r have one made for me for yahoo. So now when I get a email a yahoo icon pops up in my notification. Ask a themer to make you some. Themes and apps has some. I suggest using sysinterwolf cuz he is the man.
Unzip the attached file, and use:
adb push WP_0409WWE.db /data/data/com.htc.provider.weather/files/WP_0409WWE.db
To put it on your phone. Reboot and you've got 40k cities, the entire AccuWeather.com database.
sweet, gonna give it a whirl
Just tried looking up cities/locations...it doesnt even include State College, PA...where accuweather is from....fail
On a side note I tried looking up some major/minor cities in Virginia...not there...oh well
Did you reboot your phone after pushing? State College, PA shows up for me.
Odd I did the push with the phone in recovery. it did it fine, Let me reboot again hrmmm
Since replacing this db file, my phone has been getting incorrect timezones from the network (the first time I edited mine, it would go to GMT +0, this time it's sticking on GMT -7). Leaving the phone overnight fixed it, but do you know of a way to manually reset the data got from the server to reset the time?
I think I just figured out why, all of your entries have the timezone as 480 (West coast) and timezoneld as America/Los_Angeles!
will this work on a stock unrooted s-on 2.1 phone? I would love to do this on the wife's phone.

No. It will work with unrevoked3 via ADB push. It's much easier with unrevoked forever as you can do it through root explorer.
But wait until he updates the file with the correct timezones.
This is odd, I done it both methods.. adb push and placing the file on my sd card and moving it in adb shell. still the same old stock city locations
/annoyed
Just tried this and my list of cities was blank. I couldn't add anything. I had to revert back to the original file.
Sent from my Droid Incredible
Just as a follow up, I tried this again but this time I deleted the original file instead of renaming and set permissions to rw down the board and revolted. Works like a charm now. Thanx for all this.

Worked great. Thanks.

dehalem, just an FYI it looks like the Time Zones in this file are way off causing the phone to display incorrectly. I'm in PA and the entire state United States is set to the Tijuana time zone. I'm attempting to edit the file and if I can I'll host a new version for everyone to download.
This file is going to take a lot longer to edit then I thought, anyone have the stock WP_0409WWE.db file handy. I overwrote mine and really don't feel like restoring a backup for this.
Update:
Here is the modified database that I am using now. For the most part it is correct. For people that live in a state that has multiple time zones you may still have issues with this file as I was unable to find an easy way of determining which time zone each city was in so the time zone may be off for an hour. I'm sorry about this but I don't have the time available to fix this a 100% but I have to tell you its much better than the original file. If you come across a city that is either missing or has an incorrect time zone please PM me and I'll try to update the database for you.
Oh and to install this just use the instructions the OP provided. I would however make a backup of the Stock file if you want to be able to go back for some reason.
Ctinsley, thank you so much for this!! I was freaking out, my time was 3 hours behind. I thought that I had some how broken my phone and I couldn't find a way to fix it, I've been looking for days. But then I tired your file and after I rebooted things were back to normal.
I would really like to try this but every time I try to push the file I get adb not found. Any help please?

Troy you need the android SDK installed to use ADB. There are instructions all over the forum to get ADB running. Once you get that running if you still have issues let me know.

thank you for your reply. I have the android sdk installed and was previously able push stuff via adb but now when I try I get the # but when I push I still get adb not found. Oh and the android sdk is on c\sdk
have you installed S-off? if so I can walk you through a method that doesn't use ADB
Yes I have s off
- It has already been confirmed several times, the 2 files are EXACTLY the same (OTA and the 91.14mb file from samsung)
- Performing the update this way did not destroy any of my data, texts, applications, contacts, etc. Everything was exactly the same, except for the new version of Android. You must have a stock phone or the update most likely will not work.

"Force OTA"
UPDATE:: IF you cannot for whatever reason load the file to your SD Card, gmail yourself the link (below) and download it using Dolphin HD browser. I just confirmed it works on my phone, however, it does not work with the stock browser. Check the market for Dolphin HD, it's free. Client mode is set to desktop, which is under settings once in Dolphin HD. I was able to download the update.zip to the phone rather quickly over 4G Other browsers may work, I prefer that one though. Doesn't hurt to try. The stock one will not save the file, though will navigate to it.
As I first posted yesterday, there are [now 3] ways of downloading and installing the new EB13 Froyo release. If you have a Windows PC, there is a new utility that Samsung has released to flash the phone via PC. I personally couldn't get it to run on my Win 7 x64 laptop due to the enlarged font I run on my high-res laptop screen. Additionally, the 200MB file will wipe your phone completely clean. If you have a "trouble free" factory install of the current 2.1.1, the update method contained here is your best bet. Trouble free meaning that only bugs of the software are present. If you have issues above and beyond that of all other eclair users, you may want to completely wipe your phone.
The easiest and fastest method is to visit Samsung's Sprint Epic download page here http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/SPH-D700ZKASPR and click the "Software" link (Manuals is the default landing page) and download the 91.14MB File labeled as for MAC OS. You will notice the much larger windows download (200MB) which is not needed, and may not work.
After you download the zip file, copy it over to your SD Card in your phone by either hooking it up and mounting it as you would normally do to copy files to your phone, or as I did, place the Micro SD card into an adapter and insert it into your computer. Copy the .zip file you downloaded onto the SD card; do not place it into any directory.
With your phone powered off, insert the SD Card back into the phone and replace the battery cover. Now, while holding both volume up and volume down rocker buttons (yes, you can push both at the same time), hold the camera button down as well and then press and hold the power on key. You will hold all 4 buttons on the phone until it boots into the flash menu.
Use the volume down button to scroll to..
"Apply SDcard: Update.Zip"
Push the Home key on the bottom of the phone and the update will commence.
Once it's complete, the phone may reboot into the menu again, at which time you select "Reboot" and hit the home key again.
The phone may reboot a few more times after it's first boot, and it may take a few minutes to fully get up and running. If it acts strange for a few minutes, this is normal.
Performing the update this way did not destroy any of my data, texts, applications, contacts, etc. Everything was exactly the same, except for the new version of Android. You must have a stock phone or the update most likely will not work. No ROMS, etc may be installed for the update to work. Before doing the update, go through your applications and uninstall anything you don't want / use.
You may also wait for the OTA update, but it will take a while to download, use up your battery, and you have to wait longer. It has already been confirmed several times, the 2 files are EXACTLY the same (OTA and the 91.14mb file from samsung) DO NOT waste time using a link to another file, there is no point and only risk in obtaining the file from somewhere else.
Before I began, I copied things off of my SD card that I wanted and performed a format on it. If you have apps installed on the SD Card, and you choose to do this, you may need to reinstall them. Once the update was complete, I copied the directories and files back to the SD Card.
(STICKY worthy!) No other post has this info immediately at hand.

Eh, it's not as concise, and also not borrowed. This is the easy, "don't do anything but update my OS" method. NOTHING is needed except the ability to load the Update.zip to the SD Card.

Odin not required

I am on all stock and have clockwork installed. I tried to do the update like you said here, but it aborts the install and says no error message. I downloaded from the link you provided. It says E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip

So is there something I am doing wrong?

This has been answered in one of those posts with several hundred replies (if I had the answer on-hand, I would post it). I kept the Epic stock to avoid any issues, so my update was rather simple. A few people have already had to reload their phones a couple of times before everything worked out.

DK28 wasn't official. The latest official release is DI18 - 2.1.1. This updates STOCK 2.1.1 ONLY.
I didn't care to fool with the phone originally due to not knowing the exact release date of froyo. It has been way over due, but I honestly didn't have any reason to mod. Froyo has enhanced the phone, but honestly doesn't provide anything new that would change the way I already use the device. GPS is faster to acquire in google maps, but in GPS Test, it was always fairly instant. It's also reports more accurate, reports being key, it wasn't ever off but by 20 feet anyway, which is about all you can expect on 3D accuracy.
I used the .exe file from Samsung website to flash my phone and works like a champ.
Now some minor quirks with Froyo but will address them in different threads.
Thanks for the help!!

I don't think it worked. I installed alogcat, opened it, then went to my dialer and typed that in...and then now my notification bar no longer shows the update, but shows "Checkin succeeded"..so went back to alogcat, hit filter and typed in http and none of these look like the right links. it's the link that goes along the lines of //android.clients.google.com/checkin (1 requests sent).
filtering by zip comes up with nothing.
also as i said above now my update message is not in my notification bar.

Just to be clear once again, I don't WANT the update..so by trying to install it, it should fail as I have a custom recovery and ROM right? I don't want to screw up my setup.
EDIT: F$ck. Sorry guys I think I might have screwed it up. I ran adb logcat, and instead of going into settings>about>system updates and hitting download I hit install now from the notification bar thing. The phone rebooted and then the installation cancelled. And looking through the logcat I didn't see any links so I decided to try it again, but now when I go to settings>about>system update it says my phone is up to date. I've heard that people who don't want the update try that and let it fail so that it doesn't bother them again, but also heard that it doesn't work as the message comes back after a little while. Hopefully it's the latter for me so I can get it right this time. If and when it does come back, am I correct in assuming that what I should do is go to settings>about>system update and try to download it there rather than hitting the install now option from the notification bar?
It should fail with a custom recovery, but do take a backup just in case.
Flash FOTAKill and don't bother yourself with build.prop and such.
Would you mind then sending me a PM with your IMEI and SN so I can fake them to Google and get the download link?
I guess he does mind...
Makes sense. It's a hard decision
I keep getting a notification that a system update is available but after it downloads and tries to install, I get the error "the update is invalid and has been canceled"

Assuming you are not rooted or modded, the only thing I did (and always do) is remove my transflash card before I do an update. If you DO mod or have root, maybe it's something else.
So my recommendation for now is to remove your msd card, that is if you even have one plugged in and then download and apply the update. If you don't have one in there, no suggestions here right now. I am stock, have never rooted or modded my system and my OTA was perfection. It downloaded and updated without a hitch.
GL, let me know how it goes.

Good to hear! Now you know.
Enjoy your Iconia.
Realllllly interested to know why the sd card is causing the update to fail, that's strange.
if you download the patch fix from Acer support site, it also fix the "the update is invalid and has been canceled" error. That is how I solved the problem. It is good to know that the SD card is the main cause as I also inserted my SD card.
What about Acer informing about those "how to do" basic things.

Not your post, it was what I wrote.... Just didn't drank my morning coffee and I wrote something not relevant to help you. Sorry for the confusion
Perhaps the 3.2 OTA update is getting corrupted during the download. It seems to be a zip file of some 357 MB.
Does anyone know in which folder the zip file is stored, and the name of the file?
I'm thinking I could try to delete the file and download it again. Then try to install it
My goal is to avoid a Factory (hard) reset.
For those posting that they're not rooted, it may be helpful to also note if it ever was rooted previously. I unrooted, or thought I did, and was getting hung at the Bee logo with an "!". I had to re-root, unintall anything related to root, including reflashing the stock rom, reversing everything that USB Mount All had done, re-enable the phone checking services and uninstall the battery saving app afterwards, THEN I was able to successfully update. Turns out I really didn't have a need for root access.
I had the same error message and tried twice before it finally went through the third time. I was rooted, but with the stock ROM. I also had an SD card in and removed it for my second try. I did not remove root for any of my attempts. On my third try, I left the SD card in and it updated. Wish we could get some consistency so we could try and determine the cause(s).

2 stupid and 1 not so stupid question(s), but I have to get it out of the way.
Do you have it plugged in? The tablet may not update if the battery is too low.
The other silly question - how much space is it reporting as free? I don't know if this issue still persists for some, but I remember reading a while back where people's tablets were mysteriously 'filled up'. Since you have lots of apps anyway, could you check to make sure you have enough space free?
Finally, are you setting the tablet and wifi to never turn off? I always make sure my wifi is set to always on (which it usually is set to anyway) and also that my screen timer is set to 30m or Never so it doesn't turn off. Just in case it matters. 30m for small updates, Never for large ones.
The file is supposed to download again if it doesn't work - does it not? I have no idea where it goes. A dev may be able to help you there. If you need it to re-download, I think you can just perform a manual check and it should ask you if you want to get it. (I think).
Since some people have reported that the update works WITH the sd card in there - perhaps you can try some reverse psych. and pop in a msd, see if that works.
Let me know how it goes or if you got it to work.
Interesting questions and comments. The answer to all 3 is Yes, Yes, Yes.
Thanks.
This is why I love coming to THIS forum. So many more ideas that help identify and solve the issue. Most of the other forums I looked at said "factory reset, hard reset, factory reset, hard reset..." I come here, and I see "unseat the MSD card, set wifi to always on, set screen blackout to 30 mins, etc." And VOILA! Success!
Mine is a US-based unrooted A500, 16 gig MicroSD card, and lots of apps. I was dreading the thought of doing a hard reset, as I didn't want to lose all the apps (and the info stored therein), and have to spend the better part of a day restoring everything (had to do it before; this is my second A500, as the first was stolen at the Ostiense train station in Rome). So here are the ideas I took from the above posts to get the update to work:
1 - In "Settings" set Wi-Fi Turn Off to "Never" or "Never if plugged in."
2 - Also in "Settings" set Screen Turn Off to "30 minutes."
3 - Power off your tablet, and remove the Micro SD card (if you have one installed).
4 - Power on your tablet, go back into "Settings," and go into the About Tablet section on the bottom left.
5 - Tap "System Update." If the update was downloaded previously, it's likely you'll go straight to the Ready to Install pop-up. If this is the case, run the update, and let it fail.
6 - Once the update fails, go back into the About Tablet section as above and tap "System Update" again. This time, you should get the Download Update pop-up.
7 - Let everything download, and then run the installer when it pops up.
8 - Cross your fingers and toes, and pray to whatever deity you worship that the install is successful. It worked for me at this stage.
Might be something with the wifi or screen blackout settings that causes the download to corrupt. Might be something with the MicroSD card. Whatever it is, give this process a try, and try 2 or 3 times if the first one doesn't go through (as the system may still be trying to use the old corrupted download).
Best of luck to those who still have this issue!
Edited to add: BTW, once everything is working again, don't forget to back into "Settings" and set Screen Turn Off and Wi-Fi Turn Off back to where they were before to save battery life. Forgot to mention that. Oops!

Tried downloading the 3.2 upgrade again, and made it a point to have the Acer full charged, connected to the charger, and in close proximity to the wireless router. The download was successful, and the file unzipped ok and the installation proceeded smoothly as expected.
Many thanks to all those who made suggestions.
