I can't seem to get the Weatherbug or CNN widgets to stay visible. I put them on a screen and they work fine for awhile. Then they disappear. The widget is definitely still they since I can't put anything else in the place it occupies and I can grab it and drag it to the remove Icon. In fact, removing the widget and putting it back is the only way I have found to make them visible again (note: I did not try a reboot or power off since its actually easier and faster to just put them back).
The email widgets (I have one for gmail and one for regular email),calendar widget, bookmark widget and Beautiful Widget Home have worked perfectly.
Seem to only be effecting some of the widgets. Anyone else seeing disappearing widgets?

I have the same problem with the weatherbug widget. It is definitely still there - I can't put anything in its location and i can even long press and drag the invisible widget to the trash can.
any thoughts? Thanks!
I know the CNN widget depends on a network connection, when I'm offline it usually stops showing items. They just didn't code it to gracefully fail, it just shows an empty stack widget.

Yeah, I expect that to happen. I sometimes lose network connection at night (not great signal in my bedroom - which according to my wife is a good thing!). I can understand an empty stack widget, but my weatherbug widget completely disappears. You bring up a good point though, maybe I'll leave it in the living room tonight so it doesn't lose connection and see if the widget disappears. I hope they fix that before the wifi only model comes out.
@OP - do you sometimes lose network connection. Could your problem also be related?
I havn't had any problems with mine
Are you using the stock launcher? I know that on my phone in the past if the launcher runs into an issue this very same widget issue happened.
I have had the same issues with my Cnn widgets and the weather. I have found that if you go in to the actual application from the app drawer it will refresh the widgets. Although for CNN you have to go to each feed for whatever widget you have. ex. tech widget stack, you must go the tech feeds in the CNN app and it brings the stack widget back up. Needs a fix

I don't think that is the problem. It has been on WiFI the whole time (I have WiFi configured to never disconnect) and it's never been out of range of my router.

I'm pretty sure I tried that, but next time it happens I'll give that a shot.
And just to be clear; the widget is literally invisible (not just empty).
When a stack widget has no items it is invisible. It's likely that from time to time the widget update failed and left the empty widget.

Perhaps, but they never seem to recover. I've left them alone for hours and they never reappear. Since it only seems to happen to these two widgets I think the problem lies with the widget implementation (i.e. coding problems).
I'm hoping for an update and until I get one I'm not using the widgets.
It didn't happen for a while now, but it did last night. I lost both the CNN widget and the weatherbug widget and they never recovered. i purposely refreshed all data and nothing. it's a bit annoying as the only solution is to delete the widget (if you long press in the general area where the widget was, it still thinks it's there and I can drag it to trash).
I have tried switching to a static wallpaper. I will report back.

I've always been on a static wallpaper and I still get the issue. I'd be curious if it helps you.
Static wallpaper did not help
Having the same problem with the CNN widget. I'm running LauncherPro and I thought it was the problem but I guess not. It must be a coding issue or refresh issue.
For Weaterbug, switch off "Enable my location" if it is on, and switch it on if it is off. That restores the widget. You can then set it as you wish.
I also have this problem. Mainly with the Accuweather widget disappearing. I use a static background. Stock Kernal. Not sure why it does this but.... I am sure this will get worked out in the upcomming builds.
1} Click on Power Control Widget to show on home screen
(It'll will pop out without any icon)
2} Drag down notification bar and click on GPS icon, u'll see de Control Widget
with icon.
Hope it helps~
Cheers~
WTH are you talking about?

Talking about The power control widget. If u add it The iconen are invisible. With this method u can see them again

If anyone use rom that has AppWidgetPicker.apk (app that group widget when you add widget to homescreen), you will experience no icon when you add the power widget. Oceangreen's method is use to fix that bug.
Thats like saying long press on the screen to place widgets on the homescreen.
Very useful information - sticky this

lololololololol
Thanks, it works.
I have Simply Honey 3.1 ROM installed and its an issue that the powercontrol widget doesn't show any icons. I tried this and there it was! The powercontrol widget icons are back!
This is what i did.
1. Added the powercontrol widget to the desktop. (no icons are appeared, only the empty boxes)
2. I pulled down the notifications bar, and enabled GPS toggle. Voila! the powercontrol widget's icon all appeared.
3. I turned off GPS in the powercontrol widget. (all the powercontrol widget's icon, remained)
Yeah it worked! Some custom roms or badly upgraded roms tend to have invisible icons in power control widget. Please state that in the first post so that users wont get confused
Kool, worked like a charm

No it's describing a workaround for a bug.
What you've described is a feature.
A bug is the opposite of a feature. In other words you couldn't be more wrong.
Hi guys
Anyone else noticed this on their S2...?
When i set the digital clock with the date as a main widget on home screen, sometimes, if i reboot or load a video, play it and come back to the home screen, the widget shrinks in size slighty and removes the date.
This is the same when i use a beautiful widget clock/weather widget as well...
Not sure what i am doing wrong...
Any help guys?
Cheers
Merb
Yeah i have noticed this too. Don't know what causes this. What firmware are you on?
Does it happen with the stock time widget as well?
I have the Go Launcher Weather widget and it does this shrinking job sometimes after I exit apps. I thought it was a problem with the widget!
I'm on stock O2 ROM version: KE2
On one of my screens i have widget which today started crashing Sense..
What i mean is everytime i switch to that screen sense crashes...
On that screen i have:
- Power Amp Widget
- Battery Monitor Widget
- Android Assistant Quick Boost Widget
- HTC Sync All Widget
- Power Controll Widget
How to remove a widget without going on to that screen..
You will probably say "uninstall that wigget/app" but what if it is HTC Sync All Widget (only one i can see on all screens preview (Home button))
Could create another blank screen and work through adding each widget until you get an issue. Once identified you can work out how to fix the problem
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
Ill have to use one of my other screens as cant add extra one on ARHD (i think)
None of them on new screen causes Sense to crash... :/
Uninstalled everything except Power Controll and Sync All as I cant nothing changed...
Now I only hope my yesterdays backup will work..
Had to restore backup...
Whenever I go to add an extra widget my nexus 7 keeps rebooting, has anyone seen this before? I have car widget added on the home screen and it takes up all of the space but when i try to add another widget on the next screen over my nexus immediately reboots. I have also deleted the main widget and tried to add another widget but still the same thing happens. I have notice some of the smaller icon sized widget i can add but anything bigger than that it will reboot on adding and it doesn't even add it at all.

You should try another launcher and see what happens.
