Not sure about that. Guess , if we use link2sd or other programs to move some programs to sd card , the cwm backsup data relating to those programs else it shows the above message , not sure though .

Because CWM is prepared to make full backup phone. Including SD-EXT partition if you had ...
But you do not have, it simply does not backup that part and continuous.
But the backup is OK.

Keep on getting run nandroid via adb?

I don't have any partitions and I'm not even sure that would be a reason to not let me backup. I can run Nandroid backup fine but I can't run Nandroid backup +ext.....Can Someone please help!
Thanks

tweet me @robotnoize1 if possible...thanks!
I've had this problem before when I rename the nandroid file.
I usually power off, go back into recovery, and it works.
Not restore but backup.

You have no partitions so backup + ext does not apply to you. That is the default error when the script doesn't detect an extX partition to backup.
okay.
Exactly, an ext partition is for the apps to sd technique which you are not using, so there is no need for an ext backup, a normal nandroid is just fine
And my apps messages etc. will all be backed up?
well it's time to try it now I guesss!
Thanks for the help guys very much appreciated!
I do believe you messages will be, however your apps will not! but a simple visit to the android market and then to your download tab will bring up your list again Otherwise just create an ext partition and do a nandroid+ext backup and that will save your apps.
Correct me please if im wrong, but hasnt the RA recovery been having issues with ext backups on cyangen?

You are wrong.
Nandroid does backup the whole phone, everything under "/". By everything I do mean everything on the phone storage.
also, make sure it is fully charged before trying to restore.

[Q] Noobish question on CWM , partition sizes and restores

So, if I have a ROM (CMYLXGO's Stock Desire) w/ 425 MB system partition and I back it up with CWM , then install another ROM with 150MB system partition (installing the 150MB partition prior to install of course), do I need to repartition back to the 425MB prior to restoring the 425MB partitioned backup?
Common sense would tell me yes, BUT, I figured I would ask just in case I am wrong!

What will be the problem if i dont perform repartition?
I had been wondering if a nandroid backup would restore old partition sizes, since it backs up everything, but yeah i guess it makes sense that it can't change the size of the recovery partition, since that's what cwm is running from at the time of backup/restore. But does nandroid restore system and cache partition sizes?

No, the restore just loads the partition contents into the partition, it doesn't adjust the sizes, or recreate them,, just loads the backed up contents into it.

TitaniumBackup restore doesn't work

I have always restored my apps using titanium backup after flashing a rom. Now when I open titaniumbackup, I dont see the name of the app anymore.. I see "com.blabla.blabla.blabla" + when I try to restore my 95 apps, it restores in 3 seconds, and nothing happends.. I have installed busybox (click on the "problem" button)
Any fix for this ?

Not from cwm,but just replace the titanium backup zip to the root of your sd card, and the app will be able to find it...

I've got a folder and a zip called Titanium Backup on my sd card.
I am presuming that this is where the app saves its files.
If they are not there,it cannot restore anything.
Someone also had the same problem when they formatted their sd card, but didn't make a backup...
I have a folder called titaniumbackup on the root of my sd card, and all of the apps are inside there, but it still wont restore.. + it would usally recognize the name of the app.. but now it is showing "com.anddoes.fancywidget.pro-38ac4964313034e9cb560a0cd11cd623.apk.gz" ..

Mine says titanium backup(folder)
and titanium backup ZIP.
When I formatted my sd card these were the two that I restored, and everything works.
I am suggesting that if you didn't restore both to your sd card, therein lies the problem.

found it out I think.. I looked at some older backups.. they do all have a properties file.. while in this folder.. there are no properties file.. now I'm wondering how I am supposed to make a properties files out of them..
I guess I will restore that old backup, and put the apk.'s inside the apk.gz from the new backup and install them .. confusing lol

Official CWM Bug Report Thread

Hi Guys,
As we all know that the Atrix now has support from ROM Manager and official CWM by koush has been released.
It has some bugs as now, so we can use this thread to report the bugs, those of you who are using it, please report bugs here and I will consolidate them in the first post and then we can report them to koush so that he can fix them.
I hope this will help everyone including koush.

- wipe data wasn't working for me and also mounting sd-card
- No support for external sd-card
Haven't tried other options
I'm not certain, but I think a couple people mentioned that backups/restores weren't working properly either?
Thanks guys. updated OP.
I am able to make backups, and see the files on my INTERNAL SD Card (since there is no external sdcard support yet) but i have not tried a Restore using the backup files that the backup process created.
I ran a normal backup, which should have included everything
im a little hesitant to run restore in worries that it will fatally screw something up

Yeah, I heard it would complete a backup but you wouldn't find out it went wrong until you tried to restore
I think everyone is afraid to try it out...The dev can do a little more testing I suppose before he releases something

Hmmm good point.. Seems like someone is gonna have to take one for the team and try a backup to see if it works lol. I'm gonna take a peak through the other recent Rom Manager threads and see if anyone mentioned anything with more details about a backup.
External SD access is really a bug. Its looking for sd-ext instead of sdcard-ext.
Backups complete. Restores fail b/c one of the first steps is to format /system...which fails.
Wipe doesn't work, back up completes, but will not restore, gives error after first step.
i was able to flash a restore. but after it was very bugggggy

Ok so today i was testing various cm7 roms so i switched from my kernel to white kernel for testing becuz it supports cm. Everything went well until i restored my nandroid backup. As usual I was trying to restore all my apps using link2sd and every time it used to work like a charm but this time it gave an error saying invalid argument. It was showing the same error on all partitions except ext4. But my original partition was ext3... I was really confused about it so i selected ext4 and rebooted my phone. In link2sd partition properties i saw that the ext was getting mounted but wid only 4 mb instead of 200mb.. Now i hav restored back to my kernel but still the problem is there.. I think I need to face it, my apps are gone and I would have to download all of em again.. Can u recommend me some good internal memory saver techniques similar to a2sd,link2sd etc? I need it to be reliable..

Did u clear data and catche and etc.before restoring apps.?
rooting is new for me...and i am noob to root...
i personally would recommend titanium backup (full),
i never thought link2sd can restore apps,
but i use titanium backup to backup my apps,
it has never failed me before,
first i restore apps by titanium backup then link everything again with link2sd
