Hi there,
Hope you can help me...
Since i bought my Cruise, I flashed it to the newest ROM version of HTC and it automatically installed SPL 3.13 with.
The problem is that if I want to install the WM 6.5 rom, I have to "Downgrade" My SPL version from 3.13.0000 to 2.20.
I followed the steps explained by "Olipro", but when the upgrade starts, RUU kills activesync (seems to be normal) and when the phone normally reboots in bootloader mode (like when you flash a new rom), nothing happens. The phone didn't shutdown and tries to establish a new USB connection !
I tried to turn manually the phone in bootloader mode on to force the SPL update, but the % bar stays at 0 and RUU returns a communication error (262).
I tried also to install the wm 6.5 rom without install SPL 2.2, but it crashes (stays @ 0% too)
I don't know how to install this stinky version of HARD SPL.
Heeeellllpppp !!
NOTE : I tried with or without µSd, does the same thing.
Thx
hmm try disabling firewall and antivirus one of them may be blocking the connection. Thats my only thought about it.
Thank you for the answer but it don't work...
Nobody can help me ?
Try to extract the files from the newest htc rom to a new folder, and then copy the "RUU_Signed.nbh" from the SPL V2 folder to the extracted files (to the new folder) and run the "ROMUpdateUtility.exe" from the extracted files (from the new folder).
nope ...
Please, consider my asks...
I know there is necessarily a solution but I have not yet found.
I don't know where/why it is crashing.
What does the HTC need to downgrade the hardspl ?
Is there a protection that can't be bypassed with the 3.13 ?
The only thing that I can do atm, is flashing the official HTC rom (useless ^^).
The actual version of my rom is :
_HTC Touch Cruise_RUU_Polaris_HTC_FRA_3.13.406.0_radio_sign_25.85.30.07_1.59.42.15_Ship
Thanking you in advance...

HSPL 3.13? In this ROM is ver. 3.13 drivers, not HSPL... If you have original ROM and you dont install Olipros HPSL, you have original HTC SPL...
When I enter bootloader mode, the HSPL version is : 3.13.0000
Of course it's the original htc HSPL.
The problem is that I can't downgrade it to the olipro's version : 2.20.
Did you try it on other PC?
2 PCs, 2 USB cables..
The official rom upgrade works fine, I dont think that the problem comes from the computer.
definite guide:
1. establish a connection with activesync via usb (orbit2 to pc)
2. start the romupdateutility provided in hardspl folder.
3. before it starts flashing, you need to also follow on-screen instructions on orbit2!!! execute jump-spl and stuff: click yes on orbit2!!
4. when the orbit2 states: Replug USB. you need to plug the usb-cable once off and then put it back to connect to your pc.
5. it starts flashing and restarts after its done.
Hi Manaaa,
I don't know what is jumpslp ??
I found it on the web (xda..), copied it in my "my documents" folder, ran it but it asks me a jump address (default is 0x00000000) and an spl (*nb) file..
What is jump spl ? What is the address to jump to? and where can I find the *nb file ?
In the olipro's hspl folder is only a *nbh file.
Thank you
I wouldn't recommend using a jump spl for our phones if there isn't one in the Hardspl Pack then one is not needed to be run.
Personally im still really confused by this so if i get it straight.
You are synced with activesync.
Run the file for Hardspl Run RomUpdateUtility.exe
Then go though. It switches off activesync.
Then what?? Exactly Does it ask you to replug the cable? Do you get the rom flash screen (with %) at all??
Also i dont think that spl flashes can be run from the booloader as it has to be a modded bootloader (jumpspl if you will), loaded by the program to be able to flash the new hardspl.
Also i know very little on this, this is as much as i understand it to be.

Normally, after killing activesync, the phone turns into bootloader mode. Mine stays in winCE and tries to establish new usb connection...
I also decided to force manually bootloader mode and killing activesync by myself.
I ran RUU again, it first checked the phone state (such as battery >50%, connectivity...)
CHECK : OK
Next step, by clicking "NEXT" on the RUU interface, the phone turns in "% mode" and the update starts but stays at 0%.
After a while, RUU returns an update error (such as 262).
Noway to flash hardSPL :'-( , v3.13 seems to be "write protected".
ERROR [262] : UPDATE ERROR
This error occurs during the CE ROM code upgrade process. If this happens, you can just soft reset the device and run RUU again. The update process will then continue. At this stage the rom on the device is incomplete and it will not boot back up into Windows. You will need to place it into the bootloader to continue.

That is what error 262 is but really dont see why this happens either. And since you can boot into windows its not much help.
So it just wont go to flash it when you click it through, hmm
Your last resort would be to PM cmonex as she will have helped make this with oilpro. Ask and see if she can shed some light on this one. Maybe something has gone wrong somewhere (quite likely) that we don't know how to fix.
Stupid question but have you tried downloading, unzipping it again? May have been a bad dl... or unzip
Have tested it with about 10# DLs...
I PM'd Olipro, waiting for a response now
Flash back to HardSPL and don't Re-Plug
Hi Pixel,
Herewith are guide for you
1) Flash back to HardSPL and don't re-plug until end of session (5 minutes)
2) Flash back to original SPL 3.13 on this post . This original SPL for HTC Touch Cruise only
3) After you do this you cannot flash with other Cooked ROM or Shipped ROM
with different ID, unless you flash back to HardSPL
Good Luck my friend
I have exactely in the same configuration as Pixel69 with the same result.
I've tried to an other PC without any change.
Has somebody any idea?
Just had an idea what OS are you running to do it?
If its not 7 may not be fully compatible... Shot in the dark really
This Guide is only for T-Mobile USA HD2 with 1024 Mbytes ROM (1024LEO)
The ModelID for this version of HD2 is PB811200
If you have a LEO with 512MB ROM then please use *THIS* guide.
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE READ THE FAQ BEFORE POSTING.
PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION IN THIS GUIDE BEFORE INSTALLING HARDSPL OR FLASHING A ROM/RADIO. IF YOU FLASH AN INCOMPATABLE ROM OR RADIO ON THE 1024LEO THEN THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF BRICKING YOUR DEVICE SO PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL!!
Before starting, backup anything you might want to keep after the new Rom has been flashed as all contacts, emails, texts, notes, Internet BookMarks WILL be lost!!
PimBackup is good and free (copy any mms attachments to your storage card or computer seperately)
*ONCE YOU HAVE FLASHED A HARDSPL ITS PERMANENT. YOU DONT NEED TO DO IT AGAIN WHEN FLASHING NEW ROMS OR RADIOS*
*DO NOT start another process while the flashing process is taking place*
*DO NOT click off of the status bar... Let it stay in the foreground*
*DO NOT let the Screensaver activate*
Any of these can lead to a bad flash and possibly brick your phone
*FLASH HARDSPL BEFORE FLASHING ANY CUSTOM ROMS OR RADIOS*
1. YOUR DEVICE MUST HAVE AT LEAST 50% BATTERY POWER FIRST BEFORE ATTEMPTING EACH STAGE
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
2. FLASH HARDSPL (REQUIRED!! DO THIS BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE)
The Original HardSPL Thread is *HERE*
NOTE: If you have Vista or Windows 7, update WMDC to v6.1 *HERE* first
NOTE: Turn OFF any AntiVirus Program first as it WILL interefere with the flash (there is NO harmful code in the program)
Installing HardSPL4 via ActiveSync with USB Lead (thanks to Bepe)
Note: HardSPL CANNOT be installed via microSD Card.
IMPORTANT: To install/uninstall this HSPL4 there must be any SPL version from this list on your device:
SPL 1.42.0000, SPL 1.62.0000, SPL 1.66.0000, SPL 2.07.0000, SPL 2.08.0000, SPL 2.10.0000, SPL 3.03.000
To Uninstall you can flash a Stock ROM via SD card or use HSPL3 application (You need select 2.08.0000 or 3.03.0000 in the choose screen)
1. Download HardSPL4 package from *HERE* and extract to an empty folder
2. Synch Phone with PC in Windows Mobile!!! It has to be connected to activesync or WMDC via USB cable
3. Run HSPL4.exe from your pc and read all the text carefully
4. When finished reading click next in the HardSPL program
5. The program will now check the usb connection and enter bootloader screen (tri colour)
*You can select between 2.08.HSPL 2.08.0000 HSPL3.03.0000 or 3.03.HSPL. This is to avoid people with 1024LEO's installing an incompatable version and bricking their device*
Android / WP7 / MAGLDR don't support HSPL3.03/OSPL3.03.
You need HSPL2.08 to run Android / WP7 / MAGLDR
6. Select 2.08.HSPL OR 3.03HSPL for HardSPL and click NEXT.
7. Your choice will be flashed to your phone.
8. When its finished the phone will reboot.
9. Click ok to terminate program.
10. Congrats, you just flashed HardSPL.
NOTE: You can also install HARDSPL by entering Bootloader mode manually, then running the HSPL4.exe program once you see 'USB' at the bottom of the tri-colour screen.
*Go into BootLoader Mode (turn off phone, then press and hold the VOLUME DOWN then Press and hold the POWER button. After about 3 seconds the tri-coloured screen should appear). Verify the screen shows the SPL or HardSPL you installed*
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
3. DOWNLOAD AND FLASH YOUR PREFERED ROM
IMPORTANT: DO NOT flash any Rom unless it states in the 1st post that its compatable with the 1024LEO or the chef confirms its safe to flash on a 1024LEO. If you flash a Rom with a Base version before 2.08 then you will most likely brick your phone. PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!
IF YOU ARENT ABSOLUTELY SURE THEN DONT FLASH IT!!
NOTE: Check the Roms Thread for any specific Flashing instructions. If there arent any then you can use the following guide.
Flashing Via ActiveSync
1. Download your prefered Rom from the LEO Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your computer
2. REMOVE SIM and microSD CARDS!! (this is a precautionary measure and is not compulsory)
3. Turn phone back on and wait until it syncs with your PC
4a. If your Rom is a .exe (customRUU.exe is already included in the Rom file) then run the file
4b. If your Rom is a .nbh file then run the CustomRUU.exe from the Roms Folder (if one isnt included then download it *HERE*)
5. Follow onscreen instructions to set up your New Rom
6. Once phone has gone through the customisation procedure then replace Sim and microSD Cards
7. Perform a Hard Reset to clear any leftover data from your previous Rom (see intructions at bottom).
8. Set up phone as required and job done.
Flashing Via MicroSD Card
NOTE (PLEASE READ): If you flash a Stock Rom via microSD Card then it will overwrite your HardSPL with a stock SPL included in the nbh file. This does not apply to custom roms as they do not include an SPL. BE CAREFUL!!
1. Make sure your microSD is Formatted to fat32 (you dont have to delete all files but it is safer if you do)
2. Download your prefered Rom from the LEO Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your PC
3. Goto the Roms Folder and rename the .nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh
4. Copy the LEOIMG.nbh file to the root of your MicroSD Card
5. Plug the MicroSD Card into the phone
6. Reset the device while pressing the volume down button to enter the BootLoader screen, you will first see a tri-color screen with the phone and SPL Information at the top
7. Follow the On Screen instructions to start the update
8. After flash has completed, press the reset button with the stylus to reset the device.
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
4. FLASH PREFERED RADIO (OPTIONAL)
IMPORTANT: Do not flash ANY Radio before 2.07.x or the 2.09.51.03 Radio or you could damage your phone!!
IMPORTANT: Make sure the Radio you flash is FULLY compatable with the US HD2 before flashing.
IF YOU ARENT ABSOLUTELY SURE THEN DONT FLASH IT!!
Flashing Via ActiveSync
1. Download your required Radio and rename the extracted file to RUU_Signed.nbh
2. Sync your phone with the PC
3. Run CustomRUU.exe from the Radio's Folder and follow the instructions (if one isnt included then download it *HERE*)
Flashing via MicroSD Card
Use same method as Flashing a Rom via MicroSD Card
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
5. JOB DONE. Well Done YOU DID IT!!

FAQ's
1. What is Rom Flashing?
A Rom is basically an operating system for your phone. A Custom/Cooked Rom is a Stock/Shipped Rom that has been stripped of clutter and tweaked to give the best performance. Custom Roms usually contain the latest updates and programs so are more stable and up to date and work better than stock roms that are supplied with your phone.
2. What is the difference between SPL and HardSPL?
The SPL (Secondary Program Loader) is mainly a bootloader which allows a ROM to be flashed onto your device. The SPL does more than just load and boot the ROM it sets various flags which can control the operation of the OS on the device. It also controls some operations between the OS and the device's hardware. SPLs come paired with shipped (or leaked) official ROMs and are meant to match the ROMs operation. Therefore, with each new ROM release there is likely to be a new SPL.
A Hard SPL is one that is permanently flashed in your device memory and will boot up every time your device boots. The SPL that is shipped with your device, or upgraded from an official ROM is a Hard SPL. In short, if it is loaded into your device's firmware, and survives a hard-reset it is considered Hard. Therefore HardSPL2 is a shipped SPL that has been patched to allow flashing of any Rom or Radio (custom or shipped) as long as its compatable with your device and it will withstand a Hard Reset so is permanent unless overwritten by a different SPL.
HSPL2 1024 version
I was able to get the HSPL2 1024 version on my TMO Leo no problem. I just followed the directions.
Awesome Guide mate ! Gonna try it with my T-mobile HD2...
cheers !
well done!!
wait for download link to work
I'm waiting too, I'm gonna buy a TMOUS HD2 as soong as I get to US this march 31st. And I wish that I had it before this day since I'm not gonna be with the TMOUS rom for long.
Thanks for the procedures, it is almost the same as every other phone, BUT, I didn't knew about the roms that couldn't be installed.
Nice work.
wait so where is the hardspl?
I found a link for HSPL2 1024 and it worked fine for me -mind you -it is my first time flashing a phone ever! ...worked fine without problems...
I think people just need to pay attention to the compatibility of the ROM/Radio that they are flashing...
I agree that there should be a very clear distinction in Roms/Radios which state if it is 1024/TMOUS compatible or not... I found a rom which said it was tmous compatible and it all worked fine...maybe HSPL2 1024 should be able to detect whether it is a 1024 compatible rom/radio or not ?(and then should mention it and make sure the user wants that rom/radio) ? IDK -I am a newb here so sorry if that is stupid? ....
From what I read..

Not available yet. Working some kinks out I believe.
It isnt ready just yet. Hopefully, the hardspl should be available soon...the original needed some fine tuning.
Does this void my warranty?
If so can i just flash back to stock, so i can get my warranty back?
Thanks.

Yes and yes. It does give you the ability to flash back to original SPL with this application as well. Very simple to use.

Its a very good idea in theory but sadly its not possible. 1024LEO users are just going to have to be very careful what they flash.
Im moving this post over to the 1024LEO flashing thread.
Mark.
Thank you very much! Worked with absolutely no problems at all!
Just bought a T-Mobile US HD2!! This phone's great! A little overwhelmed with the Windows Mobile OS though! Having come from Apple and Android OS, windows feels vast and am kinda lost. Trying to learn nevertheless
Anyways, I HSPL'd my phone (1024MB ROM) and then installed Kumar's Custom ROM. IMO custom ROMS arent as polished as the Original ROMS are; albeit more stable.
Is there a way to flash a stock ROM back to my TMOUS HD2? Not the one I had before. But a better (read, stable) one? If yes, which one would it be?
Appreciate the help.
Cheers!!

What Rom did you have on your phone before flashing Kumars Custom Rom thats the real question
I think the latest Stock Rom available for the 1024LEO is the 2.10 build. As the guide states you cant flash older Stock or Custom Roms or you will brick your device so I wouldnt advise doing that.
Mark.
help
im new at this just got my tmo-us hd2 i flashd a custom rom but i want to know if any one could tell me the steps to put the original spl and rom just incase!! thanks
Just have to flash original rom from sdcard to remove hspl quick search will reveal the guide.
@mskip
I flashed the original HSPL that was posted for the U.S HD2's. Everything seems to work fine. I've since flashed 3 different roms through my computer. The only problem is that I can't seem to flash from my SDCARD. I have done this a million times on my Touch Pro 2 so I know how to do it. I even followed your instructions to a T.
What happens it I go to the tri colored screen (after I reset it) and it looks like it goes to another screen for a split second then it comes back to the tricolored screen. I have no idea why that is. Yes I renamed the rom to LEOIMG.
Is this one of the bugs you are trying to work out on the HSPL or am I possibly doing something wrong?
Thanks
How To Install A NAND Android ROM On Your T-Mobile HD2
(I am linking to several Original Threads in this tutorial. The "Nice Thing To Do" is hit the "Thanks" button at the bottom of those threads to let the author know we appreciate their help)
mskip wrote an excellent tut over on the Leo forums. I used his instructions to create my own method, which has never given me issues.
My method has been used by others and has a 100% success rate as of this writing.
You MUST be HSPL'd. This is not a joke. If you attempt this method without HSPL, your phone won't boot. I can not help you if you do this. If you have the 3.14 radio, try flashing: this stock ROM before HSPL. Thanks to xmoo for the link! Original thread is here.
Read the following steps. If you're confused, read the explanations below.
(Preparing)
Folder: Create a new folder on your Desktop. I named mine Flash. Put all downloads here.
HSPL: Cotulla's HSPL 3 is located here. (Original thread is here)
Task29: Download the Task29.exe program located here. Unzip it to a new folder. Replace the RUU_Signed.nbh file with your favorite radio. I use 2.15.50.14 (Original thread is here)
MAGLDR: Get MAGLDR 1.11 (or the latest version!) located here. Unzip this to a new folder.
ROM: Visit HD2 NAND Android Development thread here on XDA and download your new ROM. I am currently using this one, but will probably have a different one tomorrow Unzip this to a new folder.
SD Card: Back up everything you want to keep from your SD card, and then format it. Hint: dcim is where your pictures are stored (File System: Fat32, Allocation unit size: 16 kilobytes) Personally, I like to uncheck the "Quick format"; it takes up to an hour but ensures my card is in the best shape possible. Once your format is complete, you may replace your backed up files.
(Flashing)
(*Optional: Remove your SD and SIM cards, if you are paranoid, like me )
Connect your phone via USB to the PC and wait for any drivers to install.
Task29: Navigate to the Task29 folder and right-click on task29.exe and "Run as administrator". Your phone will reboot to the initial flash screen. You will have to reset to Bootloader.
Wait for your PC to update the drivers again.
MAGLDR: Navigate to the MAGDLR folder and right-click on ROMUpdateUtility.exe and "Run as administrator". Your phone will reboot to a new boot screen.
Wait for your PC to update the drivers again.
You should be booted to the new MAGLDR screen and see a series of options. Use your volume rocker to highlight "USB Flash" and press the green call button to select it.
Wait for your PC to update the drivers again.
ROM: Navigate to your new ROM folder and right-click DAF.exe and "Run as administrator".
Congratulations! When your phone reboots, it should start MAGLDR which will immediately boot your new Android NAND ROM!
Now, here are the details about the above instructions. You should only need them if you are confused.
(Preparing)
I use this to keep myself organized. I own several HTC phones and flash them all, so keeping things separate is a must for me.
Having a Hard Secondary Program Loader is a must for any NAND flash, whether it be Windows Mobile or Android. This will void your T-Mobile warranty, but can be fixed by flashing a Stock T-Mobile ROM via your microSD card. Check my sig for the tutorial link on how to do that.
This is the easiest method to do a task 29. The other is using mtty, which is beyond the scope of this tutorial. Task29 completely erases the existing files and partitions, preventing any loose data bits from causing issues with a new flash. You should always Task29 between NAND ROMs.
MAGLDR: A group of devs have been working on a NAND loader for some time and Cotulla and the Dark Forces Team (DAF) were the first to release a working loader. There may be more to come in the future, but this is the first (and has Tetris built in )
You should never ask the "best ROM for my phone" question. Every chef works hard on their build and considers it the best. Every user has their favorite chef and considers them the best. You should shop around to find the one that fits you best.
I consider formatting the SD card a must if I have any data written to it by a ROM. If you have installed Android to your card, you definitely want to do this!
(Flashing)
Your phone will boot into several different modes throughout the process. Each mode may require separate drives for WMDC to talk to it.
To reset to your bootloader, pull the battery and replace it. Hold down the "Volume Down" rocker and press the power (End Call) button. The phone should boot up to the tri-color screen. If it did not, keep trying!
Your PC may not need to search for drivers at this point, but wait and see anyway, just in case
MAGDLR will work as your new bootloader, but you can always access the original tri-color bootloader if you need to.
Don't worry if you get the missing "ADB" driver warning here. Only PCs with the Android SDK properly installed will have this driver.
You must flash your new ROM from the #4 screen via USB. It is the only way and the tri-color Bootloader method won't work here.
Again, you can ignore the missing "ADB" driver if it occurs. See above x2 for explanation.
Some chefs are renaming "DAF.exe" to "Install.exe" or "ANDR_INSTALL.exe". No matter what it's named, it should be the blue icon. See your ROM thread for detailed installation instructions if you get confused here.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the plethora of information. In this case, it wasn't needed but most of the time it is
Error 262 means there is a link error between your phone and the PC. Some have solved this by re-installing ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center. Some people said it was solved by simply unplugging the phone and trying a different USB port or cable.
After installing android rom in nand, device continously reboots
I followed all your steps and installed everything (there war an error encountered while installing the rom in the last step) but when my phone boots into android, after about a minute it will just restart itself and continue the same over and over without ever fully going into android.
can you please tell me how to get over this?

It looks like the Android build you chose is either incompatible or was somehow corrupted when you downloaded it.
I suggest you delete the copy you have on your PC and download a different ROM, and then start over again.
Since there was an error, you don't want to try a fresh install without a task 29 and reinstalling hspl.
If you are using the Euro version of the HD2, don't try to install a TMOUS ROM, and vice versa. If you aren't sure, ask the chef who posted the ROM you want.
Hope this helps!
Radio Version
2.07.50.27_2
I think that the RADIO has to be 2.08.50.xx or a .50 greater.

One thing that was specified but not in the steps was HSPL. If you don't have that, you can't flash.
After having a bit of problem using the original tut you reference in your first post(basically it got locked on gogogo and a variety of problems thereafter), I am very happy to report that your variation on the method not only worked for me, but worked on the first attempt. And it has thus far done so each time I have tried it since. You cannot imagine my relief after all the frustration I had previously. So just wanted to let you know how helpful I found your post. Thanks!
The only edit I would suggest is that I believe USB Flashing is option 5 now instead of 4.
FWIW I was originally on ROM 2.13.531.1 (90963) WWE with Radio 2.10.50.26(now on 2.14.50.04).

I just tried a fresh download of MAGLDR 1.11 and the option is still #4. Did you perchance grab version 1.12?
It would still work, but 1.12 gives you the additional option of installing and Windows 7 Phone ROM.
Yes on MAGLDR the option is 5 instead of 4.
Other than that, and the part about removing your sim and SD card, looks like an excellent guide.

I am updating the tutorial to reflect on the changing menu numbers, thank you!
As far as the SIM and SD card removal, I did mention that this is optional but recommended. Yes, I realize that this is from the early days of flashing and is more than likely not needed, but in my defense this is my own method and I have never, ever had a bad flash. I've owned several HTC phones going back for a few years now and have not bricked a single one. I would consider that a pretty good track record, considering the number of posters who did brick their phone and have no idea what went wrong.
In light of your input, I will re-word the OT to ensure that the "optional" part is clarified.
Oh I totally hear ya.
I've never had a bad flash either. I think that some of the "Brickensteins" just do something wrong and don't mention it (like unplugging the phone mid-flash).
In your favor, I did read in one of the WP7 tutorials that the sd card should be removed, but since I don't plan on flashing that any time soon, I'll leave that wisdom with wiser hands
Thank you very much

Ok do this hold the volume button down while powering on your HD2 and see if the multicolor bootloader screen comes up. If so you are not fubared. If you get bootloader you can save your HD2. Click on my Guide linked in my sig and read it then click the links at the top of my guide if you want to install Android or the link for WP7 if you want to install it. The links I have at the top of my guide are links to very good and extensive guide. If you want come post back here and I or others will help you and if you want to just PM me.
Please Help me...

Error Description: USB init failed

You are using MAGLDR 1.13, not 1.11. On 1.13 (not covered by this tutorial), you have to choose "ROMUpdateUtility.exe", not "DAF.exe".
I saw a few people asking on how to install WP7 on their HD2 and thought I will try to help out by giving a short guide with links for those that struggle to find all the different information. Please make sure that you read the installation instructions for the ROM you wish to install as this does not replace those...its ONLY meant to help those looking for information. Also read the information in each link posted for each step. Please feel free to add any corrections, installation tips etc into this thread.

I would like to mention that everything you read in this post is just gathering of information from other threads and that the credit is not due to me BUT to those people that put in a lot of effort to make all this possible to us. WARNING
· When installing WP7 your SD Card will be formatted during the installation process. Please make sure that you have made a backup of your SD Card prior to installing.
· When installing WP7 your phones warranty will no longer be valid.
· Please know there is a risk of bricking your phone...however the risk is very slim, but its there.
Steps of installation
1) Install HSPL2
2) Install Radio (2.14.40.04)
3) Install MagLDR (Ver 1.12 or Ver 1.13)
4) Install WP7 ROM
5) Install Zune
6) Install WP7 SDK
7) Install XAP's
8) Video
9) Additional Information
10) Trouble Shooting
Step 1 – Install HSPL2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433
To check your HSPL version hold the volume down button...press the power button (red phone button at bottom left) till phone reboots.
· You need HSPL2.08 or higher
If you have to downgrade your SPL version in order to get to HSPL2.08 have a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898128 and at the bottom you will see a post explaining a bit more with this link to ROM's http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623283
Step 2 – Install Radio
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
Make sure you read up on the radio's and that the radio you select will work on your phone. Example...don't use a USA radio (1024 ROM) for a 512 (ROM).
· Get Radio (I used Leo_RADIO_2.14.50.02)
· Reboot Phone – press volume down button to enter boot loader
· Run CustomRUU (From Radio folder on PC)
· Follow instructions on PC screen
· You will notice on phone and PC that its installing
Step 3 – Install MagLDR
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893618
· You need MagLDR 1.12 or higher
· Reboot Phone – press volume down button to enter boot loader
· Run ROMUpdateUtility (From MagLDR folder on PC)
· Follow instructions on PC screen
· You will notice on phone and PC that its installing (It might wait a bit on 96% but don’t worry about that its normal)
· Boot into MagLDR by holding power button down
Step 4 - Install WP7 ROM
I would recommend to install one of the ROM’s that has already unlocked your phone as it will ease your process. Choose a ROM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=977
You need installed MAGLDR 1.12 or higher (Done in Step 3)
· Enter MAGLDR loader by pressing and holding the "Power button" if you aren’t already in it (End of Step 3).
· Choose point 5 - "USB Flasher" then press Green button
· Run DWI.exe (Vista/ W7 user should do that with administrator rights)
· Done, you have WP7 ROM on your device
Step 5 – Install Zune
http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/B/4/5B41E996-7CC5-400B-802C-69FBB3B492EF/ZunePackage47.exe
Step 6 – Install WP7 SDK
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920275
For installing the WP7 SDK on XP Scroll down to Basingwas post…its the 5th one in that thread…it worked for me on XP.
Step 7 – Install XAP’s
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=860964
and a list of some Xap files here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920845
Video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nac3Fnf-lY4
Watch this video if you are unsure what to do. Also the video doesn’t cover step 1 above which is needed. (HSPL2.08)
Additional Information
· Not all SD cards work well with WP7 and if you run into weird problem it might be that your SD card is not fully compatible with WP7. Try replacing it and see if it helps. It might be useful to read the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914780
· Please make sure you read the HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A thread by mskip as a lot of valuable information is available in the links he provided.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=987
Trouble Shooting
After step 3, my phone is stuck on HTC logo, I cannot go into MALGDR at all
· Make sure that HSPL2.08 is flashed or HSPL3 with 2.08 flashed
· Make sure you have the correct Radio installed by flashing the Radio again.
When Running DWI.exe it says error, USB Failed.
Try running as Administrator and read through http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914026
I'll allow it seeing as how it helped me out ^>^

Yes its a good thread, already sent a couple of newies there.
Thanks...I just thought seeing that so many people helped out with information I could give a bit back by trying to help others with some of the information consolidated in one place helping others.
Does radio 2.12.xx etc support 576RAM? Since this radio is somewhat best for battery life and reception in the UK i've heard?
Yes, I have used the 2.12.xx Radio as well and it should work fine.
Also after step 3, my phone is stuck on HTC logo, I cannot go into MALGDR at all :\?
Any help?
Try pulling out our USB cable and see if it gets past it. If not try reflashing Magldr...but USB cable still plugged in might stop you at the HTC screen while booting the phone...happened with me once. Let me know...
Still not working :\, I reflashed MAGLDR but it still stuck on HTC logo with white background. I tried removing usb etc as well. !!
Which Magldr did you use...and maybe try another radio. I used the 2.15 radio on installaton and after that flashed the 2.12 and then 2.14. Maybe see what happens if you use the 2.15 radio and flash magldr again after that.
Quick question...did you boot into Magldr by holding the power button down and keeping it in when powering up? Meaning...does that part work to get you into Magldr...
I could't get into MAGDLR at all. After it finishes flashing it gets stuck on HTC Logo. I took battery out waited 30 seconds, then tried going into MAGLDR but it goes straight into HTC Logo.
So far i've reflashed 2.15.xx, then flashed ROMUltility.exe etc and its still stuck on HTC Logo? Have I bricked my phone :O???
I used MAGLDR 1.13, the weird thing is that when I flash, it goes straight to 100% really quick, instead of getting stuck at 96% that you mentioned.
Please help me out xP
EDIT: Problem solved, I installed HSPL2 and flashed a 1.42. I needed to install HSPL3 and flash 2.08. My bad haha! Its all good now, downloading WP7 ROMs now ! mwhahahah

Can anyone help me please... I'm trying to upgrade the rom to the latest HTC HD2 rom for O2. I connect the phone via USB, sync it and then run the RUU program from HTCs website. The phone starts the process and boots the phone to the 4 colour screen and then to the black HTC progress screen and then it hangs on 0% for a few minutes until the utility finally tells me its lost connection with the phone (Error 262). I've done soft resets and hard resets. Disabled firewalls. Tried on another machine. Even ran the utility under XP SP3 compatibility. Still no joy. Can anyone help?? Thanks
Sounds like you might have a bad USB cable or that you are having timing out problems. First forget about the ActiveSync. All ActiveSynce does is help insure hour HD2 is ready to be flash by checking the battery level and such. Power your HD2 on but hold the volume down button down while powering on. When you see the tri color bootloader screen connect hour USB cable and wait for the Serial in the white bar of bootloader to change to USB and then right click the RUU of the ROM and select run as administrator. If this still does not work I would try another USB cable.

hmm....if you are trying to flash stock rom which is not intended for your device, you need HSPL or Gold card.
There are threads in Windows Mobile 6.5 section that will guide you on installing HSPL or making a Gold Card.
Good luck

Well here's the thing, my phone is locked to O2. I'm trying to install the latest ROM from HTCs website for O2 customers. For the life of me I cant get it to install. I did install HSPL a few months ago when I tried to run Android from the SD card. That didnt work either. Like I say, I've done a hard reset. Could the HSPL thing be causing an issue. How do I get rid of it.
I hate being a noob sometimes!!

To get rid of HSPL you just have to run the HSPL Utility avain and choose the correct SPL version for your ROM when it asks what version you want to flash. Remember HSPL has the stock SPL versions to, click on the link in my sig to download HSPL 4. Hint thecstock SPL versions all have four zeros at fhe end and the HSPL version do not.
You said you are getting error 262, this usually means you don't have the right SPL or HSPL one of the two atleast that is if I remember correctly. What ROM are you trying to flash and what does it say in bootloader right now?

Hi... Been away so only just got this reply.
The rom I'm trying to install is a stock rom update from the HTC website:
O2 (UK): 3.14.206.1
For the record, my phone is an O2 phone.
As for Bootloader? It currently says:
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-2.08.0000 8G XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x40
Hope that helps. Really bugging the arse off me this is.
get hspl2,
put phone into bootloader manually first and connect usb lead
(thats why it was timing out on you ((error 262)) because the connection takes too long to reconnect when it reboots from winmo into bootloader, , if you do it yourself first, that solves this error 99% of the time.)
when 'serial' changes to 'usb' run hspl2, choose 1.66.0000 (i recommend this because 2.08.0000, whilst stock, is a tmous stock, so 'may' give problems, , totally unconfirmed, but i had issues recently removing android/magldr whilst spl was 2.08.0000, i switched to 1.66.0000 and it worked straight away, i have a slight hunch that spl 2 doesnt like to be downgraded in some circumstances, , if you preffer you could use hspl4 and go straight for 3.03.0000, since that is whjat your 3.14 rom will install anyway when you flash it)
when it reboots saying its done, immediately hold voldown to re-enter bootloader
when serial changes to usb, run your 3.14.exe

Ignore that..
Mate - you're a genius. Followed your instructions and it worked like a charm.
Cheers pal. You saved my brain
Erm, not sure how much more basic i can make it. (Ignore my descriptions, just follow the steps)
Power off, hold voldown, power on keeping voldown held,, see multi striped coloured screen, that's bootloader, you can flash from this screen.
First you should try without bothering to change the spl.
Enter bootloader and connect USB, run the 3.14 you downloaded. That's it.
If it doesn't work, try changing spl as in my previous post by entering bootloader, and instead of running the 3.14 you run hspl instead.
As for writing a guide, you already read the various "how to flash.." guides (there are several) and watched the (also several) YouTube guides before you even started this thread,,, didn't you? Didn't you?? If not then shame on you!
Post back and ill check tomorrow.
