i wont go premium until they fix it for HTC Incredible. When using ROM manager, after installing a ROM from the app and going in to recover autmatically(it gives you this option after the inital download) after the download it wont install automatically. I have to go toggle the the security(or whatever its called)disable and then download from sd card and look for ROM manually. I have reported to the deveolper but never no responce. But I would love to use the ROM manager how its supposed to be. If it loads the ROMS for you automatically I would suggest on buying. Great App!

I've been using it on my dinc with absolutely no problems. I've used it to flash more roms than I care to think of. I don't know why you're having trouble.
OP: Support the developer, I got premium.
I guess my real question is is the miui rom worth paying for rom manager?

Same here. Other than Clockwork Mod having issues since I have a new SLCD Dinc (for which there are fixes) the app works flawlessly. I bought it if only to support the developer.

I used MIUI for a day and wasn't all that impressed. Yeah, it was flashy and shiney and new, but once that wore off, it wasn't anything special in my opinion. Went back to SkyRaider.
Its worth it if you like how the roms look i like them and ive never had a single issue
Besides miui and cm nightlies what other benefits are there from going from free to premium?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I do agree that supporting the Dev is nice and that's why I don't use the ad free app.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Doesn't it let you install from SD too or something?? I kinda of went premium aright away

ROM manager is a life saver for me, i have had zero issues as well. bought it to not only support the dev but because it's just an essential app for any ROM flasher.
i use adfree because i dont like apps that send personal information to ad agencies. it's a privacy issue for me. i buy apps if there is a version available.
Can't you just download the roms yourself and flash via recovery? That's what I do....never have to use rom manager unless I want to fix permissions or something.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
Rom manager premium is a great app. Way too many benefits like "Fix permissions".
Costs lesser than the value of the time you have spent trying to figure it out. Seriously!
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
Well worth it!
Install ROM from SD Card
Download ROM
Check for ROM Updates
Install from QR Code
Manage and Restore Backups...
- Restore
- Rename
- Delete
Backup Current ROM
Fix Permissions
and more!
I bought it to support the developer first, but it has been a great lifesaver. On the other issues you brought up:
- Works fine on my Incredible, all the features with no issues
- MIUI Rom looks beautiful, but works only ok. I was running into all sorts of different issues, not the least of which being file locations and then it did something to my SD card that caused about 4 hours of rework. Fortunately I have been flashing since my Windows Mobile days and am finally smart enough to keep a full backup of everything I really need. I will say that it seems to run the fastest and in the smallest footprint though.
- I agree with the GamerZ, I went back to SkyRaider as usual. Rock solid and stable.

congratulations..the app it self is fine no problems with downloading or anything. Its just rebooting in to recovery. It never installs automatically. I always have to manually wipe and clear data/cache and install from sdcard..until thats fixed for MY phone ill stay on the free app

That's to bad it doesn't work for you.
Works fine for me with most ROMs.
Currently running Skyraider3.3.3 and it works fine. When I upgraded from 3.3.2 to 3.3.3 I downloaded the ROM with ROM Manager and was given 2 options:
1. Backup Current ROM
2. Wipe (can't remember the exact words in the menu)
When the ROM was Downloaded there was an icon in the notification bar, I clicked on it and it said "Download Complete". I clicked on the notification and my phone rebooted into recovery, done a backup - installed the ROM and rebooted my phone.
All with no user interaction other than clicking the notification to start the process.
I have had other ROMs that when I try the same thing it will not reboot to recovery. I have to manually reboot recovery (I usually do it from a command prompt) then it will start the install.
On those ROMs selecting "Reboot into Recovery" didn't work either.
I have used it enough that I think different ROMs handle this differently.
I've never had any problems with rom manager. I always download my roms here on xda (like miui, for example) and flash them through rom manager, though.
Premium didn't really have anything I needed, but I got it anyway because koush is awesome.

So you don't have to do a date/cache wipe when you switch between the two roms?

No. As of right now everything is completely seperate. Once I get this tested and released I will begin looking into sharing data and either creating an app or a new recovery.
Id like to help, but have a question...
Currently running CM 6.1 rc1.. ive got an 8gb sd card with apps installed and other misc files taking up about 75% of the card... would i be able to power off the phone and just install another sd card when i want to switch roms? Or is this something that runs in one rom, shuts down the active rom and boots the 2nd?
Where is the info for the dual boot stored?

You will need 350Mb on the sdcard. I might make several different scripts depending on what you are running since CM6 is so small and doesn't need 200Mb for system
I would be willing to test it.

I ran into a problem with unzipping the rom.zip on the phone so I gotta figure out how to do that. All my test were done from the computer and I just put everything into scripts. If I can get that worked out you can flash rom1 the way you normally do and rom2 would not mess with mtd partitions.

Settings and about phone. I am just wondering because Rumm is 2.3.320 and I think Fission is 2.3.340. If you want try this before you try Rumm. Backup current ROM and then run the Metro Flash from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730289. Also make sure your APN settings are correct.
Thanks a lot I found that I can have everything working with the stock Rom. Using root explorer to push the u2nl and upstart.sh. it will only send mms using 3 mags pixel.

Help with mms!!!
Ok, I've followed everything step by step in order to make my stock GB DX work on Metro instead of VZW. All went perfectly until the last part. Flashing MetrOFF 1.2 (GB). I have put the file on my sd card and tried running it in recovery mode per instructions, and it seems to start, but then fails out saying that it's not signed and aborts. Does anyone know how to make it work? I like the stock ROM and took out most of the bloatware that I didn't want. The rest is perfect imo, except the MMS part. I don't have service yet because I want the phone working %100 before paying another company money for service. Pease help!!?

Try using the old version of CWM recovery.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
ok.. CWM Recovery. Sorry, I'm tired and I don't quite follow. I know I didn't say which instructions I followed, but I never had to dl another recovery prog to get this far. I did get the instructions from this forum and followed them to a tee. After all of that, I ran across another thread that showed me how to mod settings through ##7764726 with the code 000000 (Well, it led me there and I figured out alot just by looking around.), and then another prog allowed me to set the APN. Anyway, I wonder if between that and other forum instructions, did I bypass having to use the MetrOFF mod? I'd still like to because all of the other instructions there were right on the money and don't want to find that I missed something going through a back door. TY for the info...
Also (a bit off topic), I need a prog that will allow me to actively switch between apps (ie. Web, game, IM service, sms/mms, e-mail, etc) w/o having to back out completely or restart the app or navigate from the home screen to that app every time. Kinda like Task Manager in Windows Mobile 6.5??? I'm sure I'll have to designate a shortcut to that app on the home screen (wish I could make a button do it, like the back button ), but it would make "fast switching" a hell of alot faster and easier. TY big time for any help here!!!
Going further down the rabbit hole... Why isn't it told that in order to install CWM you need to get something from Java in order to undersrtand the SDK file of Android and then from there (God willing) understand wtf you're doing to install CWM on the DroidX? It seems pretty clear that this is the process to get an app from the AndroidMarket to work on this phone. Yes, for me it's worth the effort, but for a noob with no patients that just wants the better to be best, I think it should be an added must in all instructionals! Even my tech savvy self (still learning all things android) is perplexed and almost confused at all of this. I hope I help someone out there with all the same frustrations...
OK. I have since went round and round like most of us do to get things working correctly. I have had success in getting Bootstrap on my phone via .apk on my sd card (not the way I expected to after much hw and following guides), but even now that I have successfully installed CWM, I still can't run the MetrOFF zip file. I get an error stating that:
"Amend scripting was depreciated by Google in Android 1.5.
It was Necessary to remove it when upgrading to the ClockworkMod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery. Please switch to Edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages."
I then found the Metroff 1.3 [Edify] version that was also meant to remove a roaming indicator, and it was also aborted because of a yet unknown (to me) error. Again, I ask, Please HELP?
No older CWM...
@ Bigshotrob22
Ok, I finally figured out why you said to use an older version of CWM. Problem that I have now, is that I can't find on older version that works. I found 3.0.something and tried it, but it only booted to a black screen everytime I tried to use it at all, so I went back to 5.0.whatever for now. Can Anyone please post a link to an older version that will work on DroidX?

Will all us HD2 users ever be able to download .zip ROMs straight from ROM Manager? And possibly even have Cyanogen nightly support for HD2?

Replies welcome.

Yes but it would be much more practical, and we wouldn't be able to receive nightlies, and not all Roms are on here! If you look in rom manager in the desire sections there are lots of roms I have never seen mentioned on xda before

Youre right.
I use desire z, and has Rom Manager installed.
If I want to flash new rom, I just open the ROM Manager and let it download and run it. And it will reboot to the new rom (custom Rom, actually)
But, I usually cannot stay long, I always go back to stock rom because I really miss sense UI
Cheers

This has been answered several times in the last week. The search works. READ in the development section which ROMs updated recently with the new kernel like the stock one with Heimdall in the title, ACS v6, or grab ANY ROM there and flash Nubernel on it.

I have been using [ROM]ACS ICS v6 (Now with moar gps! (and a theme)) [eh17]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295515
I have also been using the above ROM with the following kernel
[KERNEL][ROOT][GB][EH17] nubernel-2.6.35_v0.0.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1326679
Before you apply the following theme, that installs lockscreenmods amongst other really cool items (reboot, recovery, etc), download the .zip to your machine and open the .zip and remove the /system/apps/phone.apk from it before flashing to your phone:
[THEME][EH17][ACS] ░▒▓█4.0 ICS█▓▒░ [lockmod]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320894
With everything above, I have a stable GB ROM with no reboots and no FC on phone calls ending. Battery life has been slightly better than SFR 1.2 and I use this as my daily driver with 0 issues (other than some lock screens showing erroneous battery details, but if that's the only thing so far then so be it).
