So you don't have to do a date/cache wipe when you switch between the two roms?

No. As of right now everything is completely seperate. Once I get this tested and released I will begin looking into sharing data and either creating an app or a new recovery.

Id like to help, but have a question...
Currently running CM 6.1 rc1.. ive got an 8gb sd card with apps installed and other misc files taking up about 75% of the card... would i be able to power off the phone and just install another sd card when i want to switch roms? Or is this something that runs in one rom, shuts down the active rom and boots the 2nd?
Where is the info for the dual boot stored?

You will need 350Mb on the sdcard. I might make several different scripts depending on what you are running since CM6 is so small and doesn't need 200Mb for system

I would be willing to test it.

I would be willing to give it a shot at some point. I have customMTD partions though on my BravoC and whenever I install a new rom I have to patch it so that it boots. I don't know what kind of effect your .zips I would need to flash would have on my phone.

I ran into a problem with unzipping the rom.zip on the phone so I gotta figure out how to do that. All my test were done from the computer and I just put everything into scripts. If I can get that worked out you can flash rom1 the way you normally do and rom2 would not mess with mtd partitions.

Running Cyanogen 6.1 on a Nexus One. Plenty of room on my SD card, so I'd love to try it out.

Ive got a captivate and a extra 32g card if you need a test dummy

I am so down for this I'm running warm2.2 on my evo and will give you any data that you might find useful

Do you need the bootloader cracked?
I use the x10, and currently we do not have the bootloader hacked

I'd be happy to test this on my Acer Liquid.

Nexus One Root/unroot and space pls help

Ok fellas! Im new to this world of android just bought a newsu one last night Its used and rooted. I installed bunch of apps and after a bit it gave me an alert of low space/memory. Never had this with my x10 . so i was wondering may be its cus o the root if yes? Do u recmnd unrooting to clear space? And in case of unrooting any help /guide would be much appreciated.
Also i saw the update alert ast night fo 2.2.1 but when i tried to update it it wa stuck on a black screen with a android(green guy) and a exclamation mark. so i r/s the phone again and ignore the update anyhelp. please...
Thanks a bunch.
The ROM would effect the lack of space, but having root shouldn't. It more likely the apps though.
Just try moving some apps to your SD (menu> settings> applications> manage applications... sort by size [menu key], then select an app. In each app there's an option to move to SD. Some will move, some won't)
There's plenty of discussions on the update, but it's probably failing because you're not stock...

So what should i do to get the update ..get the phone unroot??
First, decide if you want the update, or if you want a custom ROM...
I've not tried the update, so I can't make any recommendations.

*. Showed still on 2.1 in setting.
*. GPS isn't locking.
*. Bluetooth isnt working.
*. When Im trying to lock the phone by pressing the power button it locks but wont go to sleep(back light is still on).
*. Power button won't work if i try to shutdown/put phone on vibrate/airplane mode/.

I'm trying to decide if I want to go to the premium rom manager. I've been loving on some skyraider for a long time but I keep hearing about miui roms. Any suggestions?

i wont go premium until they fix it for HTC Incredible. When using ROM manager, after installing a ROM from the app and going in to recover autmatically(it gives you this option after the inital download) after the download it wont install automatically. I have to go toggle the the security(or whatever its called)disable and then download from sd card and look for ROM manually. I have reported to the deveolper but never no responce. But I would love to use the ROM manager how its supposed to be. If it loads the ROMS for you automatically I would suggest on buying. Great App!

I've been using it on my dinc with absolutely no problems. I've used it to flash more roms than I care to think of. I don't know why you're having trouble.
OP: Support the developer, I got premium.
I guess my real question is is the miui rom worth paying for rom manager?

Same here. Other than Clockwork Mod having issues since I have a new SLCD Dinc (for which there are fixes) the app works flawlessly. I bought it if only to support the developer.

I used MIUI for a day and wasn't all that impressed. Yeah, it was flashy and shiney and new, but once that wore off, it wasn't anything special in my opinion. Went back to SkyRaider.
Its worth it if you like how the roms look i like them and ive never had a single issue
Besides miui and cm nightlies what other benefits are there from going from free to premium?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I do agree that supporting the Dev is nice and that's why I don't use the ad free app.

ROM manager is a life saver for me, i have had zero issues as well. bought it to not only support the dev but because it's just an essential app for any ROM flasher.
i use adfree because i dont like apps that send personal information to ad agencies. it's a privacy issue for me. i buy apps if there is a version available.
Can't you just download the roms yourself and flash via recovery? That's what I do....never have to use rom manager unless I want to fix permissions or something.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
Rom manager premium is a great app. Way too many benefits like "Fix permissions".
Costs lesser than the value of the time you have spent trying to figure it out. Seriously!
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
Well worth it!
Install ROM from SD Card
Download ROM
Check for ROM Updates
Install from QR Code
Manage and Restore Backups...
- Restore
- Rename
- Delete
Backup Current ROM
Fix Permissions
and more!
I bought it to support the developer first, but it has been a great lifesaver. On the other issues you brought up:
- Works fine on my Incredible, all the features with no issues
- MIUI Rom looks beautiful, but works only ok. I was running into all sorts of different issues, not the least of which being file locations and then it did something to my SD card that caused about 4 hours of rework. Fortunately I have been flashing since my Windows Mobile days and am finally smart enough to keep a full backup of everything I really need. I will say that it seems to run the fastest and in the smallest footprint though.
- I agree with the GamerZ, I went back to SkyRaider as usual. Rock solid and stable.

That's to bad it doesn't work for you.
Works fine for me with most ROMs.
Currently running Skyraider3.3.3 and it works fine. When I upgraded from 3.3.2 to 3.3.3 I downloaded the ROM with ROM Manager and was given 2 options:
1. Backup Current ROM
2. Wipe (can't remember the exact words in the menu)
When the ROM was Downloaded there was an icon in the notification bar, I clicked on it and it said "Download Complete". I clicked on the notification and my phone rebooted into recovery, done a backup - installed the ROM and rebooted my phone.
All with no user interaction other than clicking the notification to start the process.
I have had other ROMs that when I try the same thing it will not reboot to recovery. I have to manually reboot recovery (I usually do it from a command prompt) then it will start the install.
On those ROMs selecting "Reboot into Recovery" didn't work either.
I have used it enough that I think different ROMs handle this differently.
I've never had any problems with rom manager. I always download my roms here on xda (like miui, for example) and flash them through rom manager, though.
Premium didn't really have anything I needed, but I got it anyway because koush is awesome.

[Q] Possible to self-port the HD2 Android SD Builds for NAND?

I love the wonderfulness (as in the roms meant for the SD are way better than those for NAND, as I've observed) of the SD builds. But I want them in my phone as NAND, not on SD. SD versions always freezes on my phone, and are very slow compared to those on NAND. So... Is there any way for me to port them to NAND? I do have a little bit of experience cooking my own ROMS... And tweaking them to my liking...
Don't know if its possible, but I was having a few lags in my SD builds and I found that my problem was the SD card.. the performance of the SD should be the same as in nand, the only difference is that you should have a better battery life in nand.. you can test your SD card with a program called crystalmark , you need a card with good random read and write..

Hmm... Problem is... I kinda don't have the luxury of buying a faster SD card... Need all the money I can to fund my videography/photography hobby... But I do have the time to port the ROMs to NAND if I have the method...
Try packing the rom files into a CWM file instead of current file format, install it, flash a NAND kernel, like TyTungs then see what happens

[Q] Gingerbread kernals for SD builds?

I don't know if this method will work for you or make your device unbootable (Use at your own risk)
First, Turn off your phone and then mount your sd card from your phone to a card reader connected to your PC.
Then go the Android folder in your sd card memory and back it up to your computer (to revert back to it if things went wrong)
Finally, replace the files called (zImage, initrd.gz) In the Android folder in your sdcard with same files names and types from any other Gingerbread SD build (my suggestion is that you try first with AmeriCanAndroid AOSP gingerbread build by downloading the whole build and get those files from it and use it on your build that you want to use on your phone).
Place the sdcard back to your phone and turn it on, and hopefully this method will fix your problem...
This method might work in theory but because the build and the kernel are not optimized for each other, Some functions will not work as they were used to be (Bluetooth, Wifi, Network signal, etc...) or Android go into boot loop or even not boot at all! so if you don't know how to do this or don't know how to revert back to your original build/kernel after a failed boot, then please don't risk it!.
Hey yugoport, can you now try the kernel from isaiah build in nexus hd2 and post the results?

_SD.Magldr__isaiah12345_v3.1_160 build is nice, everything is HD/zoomed out, would look nice on a tablet, hd2's screen just about makes it usuable, any smaller screen on the hd2 i would stick to _240 builds, i like fitting more things on one screen, i dislike the scrolling about crap all the time, if anyone loves scrolling and tabs all the time then get a iphone, WP7, blackberry or symbian that everything done is a screen/page change whilst blocking out the status/notifications bar, i prefer old versions of WM aka WM2003se all the way up to 6.5
HD2-UK/WP7 NAND/Magldr__isaiah12345_v3.1_160 via 8gb SD/ 3 partitions on SD using part-magic

My Evo can't boot

This is my first time trying to flash a rom into my Evo 4G , i did it before with my 3D with out problems.
Now I root my phone I got S-OFF Now I did Nand back up or whatever is call, and then I tried to install a rom,
everything went good it install the rom but when I reboot goes to the white screen HTC EVO 4G and stays there for ever!
I restore my phone and try to do it with different rom, I did it and same thing happens, it gets stuck on that screen!
Im trying to follow a little tutorial I found here but they dont explain much or they are old with diffent way to root (I used the new Revolutionary way)
and Im just a noob on this. also Idk if i just start From the begining Im lost! plase help. Thanks
Make sure to wipe everything but your sdcard before you flash the ROM and see how that goes and if you get stuck at the splash screen you could try pulling the battery and going to recovery by holding down volume and power then try to wipe cache and dalvik cache.
