U8800 2.3.5 Official latest - build.prop twick - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

I 've found an interesting line at the /system/build.prop. Just edit with root permissions with one root explorer. BACKUP ORIGINAL build.prop
Reject with sms feature:
Find the line called : ro.config.hw_reject_message=false
and set it true.
save, reboot, call yourself and see your new option.
You can edit these messages at call settings!

It works flawlessly!
I also enabled this:
ro.config.hw_always_allow_mms=false
and changed to true
saved and reboot
Because by default you need to have the data services enabled to receive MMS, and for me this is a little bit annoying!
Regards

Hope it helps:

What it does? enables you to send sms that tells why you rejected someone?

When you receive a call, it shows a reject message menu, that if you choose one message, it reject the call and send the message immediatelly.
And in call settings you can define those messages.

Anyone know of anymore tweaks that can be made to the build.prop file?
If we get a list going I will add them here:
[U8800] [How To] Root, Install ClockworkMod + Remove Bundled Apps from Official 2.3.5

Great Thanks

Any software for android that can access tweaks?

I did found couple more tweaks!
First one goes for the camera and enabling HDR mode: ro.config.hw.camera.hdr=false ,change that to true and you will find new option in camera settings.
Another two are not working for me but someone with more knowledge could maybe find what I am missing and make it work. First one is for .FLAC support in stock music player: ro.config.ape_flac_enable=false, change that to true and player will try to play FLAC files but does not work-before that it would not even try to play it.
Second one is for IP calls: ro.config.hw_support_ipcall=false
ro.config.ipcall=false
Make that both true and you will find new option in caller. If someone find out something else or how to make to work the two I found pleas let us know.thank you.

Thanks

This app should help you edit the build.prop file:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/2804-app-free-propmodder-by-n00bware-updated-11211/
Not sure how well it works with the U8800 though

Did anyone found something else or is this all we can do with this tread? Oh and thank you That-Guy for app, it is interesting one.

Keep them coming peeps

Has anyone found a way to wake the screen by pressing the vol keys and not the power button?

Manoysos,
not really a fix, just a solution... what I did do solve that was to install widget locker, you can activate easy wake and you get Vol key to wake up the phone.
Works for me perfect!

Thanks man I'll try it.
EDIT:
One more tweak.
You can change hw_menu_unlockscreen=false to true and then you can unlock your phone by pressing the menu(option) touch button after you have waken it.

lpa.decode=true— lpa.decode=FALSE Beats perfect No stuttering

thanks KenKiller for the reply,
I have searched the free app market for such a software but could not find, do you know if it is available as a paid app?
ahhh I missss that auto-vibrate so much !!!!!
I loved it on my magic. no need to hold the phone on our ears until they pick up
i tried to search for it, but in the end found many more threads where people asked for this function to be removed from many other phones.
Guess it's hard to please the whole world.
Place the phone.apk from this thread onto your SD card and use APKInstaller to install it. It should overwrite your stock phone.apk and will provide you the feature set you desire.
However, I don't know if this has been attempted on a SGS before - so be ready to restore your stock ROM if it doesn't work...

Waiting for a brave soul to try this.
I'm pretty sure the Phone app that comes with SGS is quite unique. After installing launcherpro the default phone button wouldn't even work until I replaced it.

Is there any news about this issue ?
uhhhh, sounds fun, let me book mark this and try it when i have spare time to mess around with my phone
For some reason the setting for this is in Settings > Sound and Display, Vibrate for Incoming Calls which is by default unticked. I thought I saw another somewhere else, going to poke around a bit more.
Edit: Damn, can't find it. I swear I saw options for vibrating at the start and/or end and or during calls, maybe I'm getting confused with my Magic though?
I really miss that feature from my old phone. The nearest app I can find is this http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-cn-cwd-callvibrate-BApt.aspx

Program the headphones button. Cuz it's only one :(

Hi,
Is there someway I can reassign the function the one button on my stock headphones has? I use the stock sense music player.
What I wish for:
1 click: pause ( already like that )
2 clicks or long press: next
etc.
Thank you!
2 clicks is already taken for call last in or outgoing caller... and i have no idea if its possible
Long click brings up vlingo for me
I can't believe there's no apk to customize this.

New ROM :: 407 OFFICIAL GB ROM - OLLEH - Auto converts long SMS to MMS

I installed the official 407 GB ROM but found that typing long SMS auto converts to MMS.
I added the below line in the system/build.prop file:
Code:
ro.telephony.sms_segment_size=160
Rebooted the device but that solution did not resolved the auto SMS->MMS conversion. The auto coversion from SMS -> MMS happens when typing at around 102+++ characters.
Any ideas?
I have the same problem. Just updated to 2.3.3.
I know that Handcent SMS can override this. As I used to use it on my old ZTE Blade where I had maximum of 3 SMS long texts before they were converted to MMS.

thanks heaps mate, that did the trick.
I'd just like to point out that in my build.prop I found multiple instances of this line. to be safe I changed all of them (although in theory you might just change the last one).
also, I have seen lines where the words were swapped like this:
ro.build.CONFIG_CUSTOMER_KT
and I changed all of them to 0 as well. just to be safe. no problems arose so far.

My phone is not rooted. Can I still edit that file?
No, you need root permissions in order to edit the file.
Hin3K,
Do you know why some products are labeled with "Keep Out of Reach of Children"? I would suggest you read up some more before you start tinkering these file else you will just get into trouble if you do not know what are you doing.
I am super nood too, and still in the reading process and can't even post in the Streak 5 Android Development forum.
Ordinary phone user like us, we shouldnt be altering these files/settings because we may mess up the whole config. This is the reason that these files are off limits to us, ordinary PHONE Users. Just to answer question, yes your phone need to be rooted.
Sorry for the long post.
Cheers
SOLVED
DISABLE 407 OFFICIAL GB ROM - OLLEH - Auto converts long SMS to MMS
PHP:
1. edit /system/build.prop (I made a backup file before the changing)
2. add the following line:
ro.telephony.sms_segment_size=160
3. changed the below parameters value from 1 to 0
ro.build.CUSTOMER_CONFIG_KT=0
ro.build.CONFIG_CUSTOMER_KT=0
ro.build.CUSTOMER_CONFIG_KT=0
ro.build.CONFIG_CUSTOMER_KT=0
ro.build.CUSTOMER_CONFIG_KT=0
ro.build.CONFIG_CUSTOMER_KT=0
So far, after changing these settings the automatic conversion of long SMS to MMS is gone. Currently in the observation phase for side effects.
Current Setup
407 Deodexed ROM - Files were from TheManii
Thanks very much alfaholdbazis and crashDebug

I changed to these settings and was unable to send a MMS (photo). It was stuck on "sending" and never got sent. I removed the added line only and was able to send the photo. Not sure if it was just a fluke. May try the edit again and see.

Thanks very much for the feedback, it is the people like you who makes the internet and xda-developers.com a beautiful place.
I hate people who reports a bug/error and then later on post back with a message like "nevermind I got it working" or "problem solved" without sharing the solution.
With regards to the parameter ro.telephony.sms_segment_size=160, personally, I was skeptical about it. I tried to google but couldn't find any info. With the value of 160, I was thinking does it limit to 160 chars only? So I will be removing this parameter. I saw this parameter in one of the threads with I thought would help.
I was hoping that I could find what each of the parameter in build.prop is all about but I guess there is no such thing. I saw TheManii posted some info about it but not complete.
Personally, I dont send MMS. Why pay each time you send an MMS when I can send it locally or overseas through apps like Whatsapp etc..
Cheers! Keep the feedback coming.

hi,
in my experience the line doesn't affect the result. It send mms with and without the line
So far, in my observation, it changes again from SMS to MMS after 459 chars. I can live with it as it's too long for an SMS anyway. I read somewhere in one of the threads that a guy has developed an app that can take with more than 3 pages of SMS text, not sure how many chars per page though.
Good Job!!!!
Thanks very much guys.

Given how much Korean customisation there is, would it not be easier to take a 00/English build.prop and add the relevant GB tags to the first few lines?
Just a thought!?
Has anyone noticed it also puts hyphens all over numbers when calling/receiving calls/call log?
Instead of; 01235526542
I see: 012-256-52267
I guess that is a build.prop thing? Can we change it?

[Q] Cant forward text messages

Hi all,
Just upgraded from a S3 and can’t seem to get the option to forward a text message.
I used to do this on my S3 by a long press on the text message I wanted to forward.
When I do this now...I only get 2 options....copy text and delete!
On the S3 I have many options.
What am I doing wrong?
How do I forward the message?
Many thanks in advance.
Screenshot attached....
You appear to have posted this in an number of forums. That's bad form, you should stick to one thread. The same amount of time put into a straightforward search would have seen your question answered already. The answer can be found in the S5 manual, myriad search results or on Youtube. Long press on the message balloon instead of the unopened message. Then select forward from the popup menu.
Google search: forward text message s5
Top search result.
Or even better, upgrade to a better third party SMS app.
If you still have problems, post a .PNG screen shot and provide details of your firmware version, app version, what you have tried, et cetera.
Enjoy

This is the first time I have posted this question.
I did do a Google search and the answers that were coming up were a long press on the balloon as you mention.....this doesn’t work on my phone.
I only have 2 options when I do that
1) Delete
Or
2) Copy text
(Screenshot of long press attached)
I have also attached screenshot of my phones details.
It’s very odd, how I’d only have such limited options when I long press on the speech bubble.
Any help appreciated.
You didn't tell us what SMS app version you have or anything about your SMS or APN configuration, so there is no way to discern what might be amiss on your phone.
At a guess, try installing the stock SMS app here
Rename the old SMS app and the corresponding odex file if your system is odexed. Clear your cache and move the new SMS app to /system/priv-app per the directions in the post (do not install via the package manager).

Hi I had this same problem but it appears you may have set your phone to EasyMode. In Easy mode your Samsung S5 collapses your phones functions for specified applications to the bare essentials.
The solution:
1. Find the EasyMode option and set your phone to "Standard Mode"
2. Remain in EasyMode and uncheck Messaging.
Worked for me. Hope it works for you too.
Or you can just Copy text and paste into a new message.

Notification when I press Power Button

Hello ...
I have the Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) with Android 6.0.1 from Saturday (NOT rooted ... yet). After a lot of hours searching and setup I have this "problem":
When I press the PowerButton for 2-3 seconds to show the options: Reboot/ShutDown/SafeMode it sounds the Messages notification !! How can I disable this?
Thanks in advance.
I still cannot disable it (without reset the phone)
I wonder if this notification is by default ....???
Thanks

Dunno if you can remove it without root, but you can do it with root. You find system sounds at /system/media/audio/ui. There you should find the sound file regarding power menu, then delete it and reboot and that's it.
@zavag
I try to turn it on to reproduce your problem but In my case, I can not even find out how I can turn it on.
Can you tell me...
How you activated it?
On which build are you?
@Henkate
I think it would be rather embarrassing for Samsung if you can not even personalize a notification tone without major changes to the system.
By the way, even if I do not actually think of TouchWiz. For me it's just ugly and overbloat!
I really don't know how it activated. The phone is new and ... you know ... I was searching a lot of settings in order to setup as I like. I googled it ... I found some infos but it didn't work.
On the other hand I don't want to reset (and most I don't want to root it from now) because I spent a lot of hours to set it up.

Know what you mean! I think if there is really no other way you are at minimum able to backup your settings in almost any app.
Maybe you like to inform about adb based backup solutions like declared here:
https://www.droidwiki.de/wiki/Backup/Ohne_Root
I also found a tool called Ultimate Backup on XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1844032
If you don't have access to a Linux or at least Windoof computer you can maybe search for how to use adb through androids buit in Linux command shell. Don't know if there is a workaround.
But in my opinion it is already poor from Samsung if one must operate such an effort in order to turn off a notification!
