So if i upgrade my blade stable cm 7.1 to nightly 256 do i lose my apps and other things like that (settings). If yes then is there any way to update with out losing any data.
Thank you for help
its best to use titanium backup and backup all of the data you need. you can then upgrade and restore the apps which you had that is the best method i can think of mate
And I wouldnt recommend you to update to cm7 if you really dont need the extra features. Wbaws Ginger SF rom got better battery life (~2x for me) and is way faster/smoother.

Well i have SetCPU that underclock cpu to 320mhz when it is in sleep mode and i need softkeys.
for cm7 to cm7, you can flash on the old one...
but it's more proper to reinstall everything..
I use burstlam odex version and it the smoother rom i ever tested
i tried fish'n'chip, gsf, blademix360, cm7...

Hi!
Im thinking about install a new rom to my phone but cant decide which...
I want a rom with so small bugs thats possible but still some features that makes the phone better
I installed this Clockwork Recovery for a pretty long time ago and dont remember what it do
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044585
So I wounder if I need it or just can remove it?
And if I gonna install a new rom, which Recovery is the best at the moment?
Would be very thankfull if somone with more experience could tell me their opinion!
My prefer is void. (2.2.2; #eridanus) by Noejn.
Install Perfect Recovery 4.0.0.5 and try yourself all ROMS.
Sent from my u8800 using XDA App
Okey will try that rom and recovery
But if im not happy with the rom can I then change back to the orginal?
IF you take a backup with recovery yes,!
Sent from my u8800 using XDA App
At the moment definitely VOID 2.2.2 latest
What makes void so great? Dec got rid if his phone so no more updates. Might as well use something that'll get new fw updates..
I believe that Oxygen is the best Rom at the moment. Miui is very good as well, but with Oxygen battery life is amazing (more than 40h, with wifi and BT on all the time) and it's got most things sorted.

It maybe so, but at least camera is fully functional.
So, which ROM would you suggest overall? Fully fuctional, acceptable battery life, speed etc. I'm with B137 v8.2 and I feel I need something new.
FYI, I usually clock the cpu to 1Ghz or 1,2Ghz.
then go for the v8.4 & his new kernel
http://bbs.goapk.com/thread-3177723-1-1.html
http://bbs.goapk.com/thread-3423090-1-1.html
this is the most stable rom atm with good performance. other roms are faster but some things dont work or they are not stable.
your choice.

how do you know that is. good Rom. did you tested it already? so is a room like void with Android 2. 2. 2
i use this rom for almost 2 months now. from v7 i think.
i never ever had a fc reboot etc (except 1 time i had the cpu at 1.5ghz).
everything is working fine, the only small problem lies in the modified franco kernel genokolar used (he modified it to be even more stable),
it has some problems on charging (franco's kernel had them also as i have read, i dont know if its fixed on his newest version cause the modified one is 1 version older than 20 july one).
(u can avoid that problem the kernel creates by not flashing the kernel and keeping v8.4 kernel).
here is a link that i have uploaded both 3
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=V99GYVBN
dont forget to install superuser from market or root will not work without it (as everywhere else also).
for the ones that want performance its not the best out there but its still a good one.
i get 24xx at quadrant at 1.3ghz when this void user gets the same at 1.5ghz but i get lower on antutu (3018, made a 2nd run and scored 3167 if it matters) propably cause of the 0.2gz less cpu speed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15978575&postcount=326
but this oxygen user gets allot more than me on 1.3ghz http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16303582&postcount=391
(i have also 1.2gb worth of apps installed if this matters)
the good thing this rom has is stability and everything works, from what i read most other roms have things not working, bugs and not that great stability, miui is a VERY good rom also (has its small bugs) cause its based on 2.3.5 but i dont like miui style ^^ (personal opinion).
oh i forgot to mention that its totally stock (except 1 small app with reboot, shutdown etc options).
i made some changes please re-read my answer

bro, thanks for ur info.
btw, my ideos is u8800H, is it compatible also? and i had flash with muui1.7.3 (android2.3), is it can flash back? ( use recovery tools to flash?)
thanks for help.
yeah its for the u8800H also as i can remember. you can keep a backup and if you dont like you can go back anytime...
oh and flash works just fine, i dont see any reason not working.
there is a new miui version that came out before an hour, try it first cause you maybe like it better (since i see you already have miui).

Thank you very much. I have flashed your uploaded three files and would like to confirm that this v8.4 is the best ROM for u8800 nowadays. BTW, since the original ROM is from China, I do hope to have your help to keep update this ROM whenever there is a new version or any changes.
no problem, i can keep you updated, at least until Genokolar decides to put his work here.
tried the v8.4 from Genokolar on my UK Huawei U8800 and it didn't work kept looping at the start screen, so I went back to using the FLB Custom ROM
So once i get the phone fixed (hope ext SD autoinstall works) i wanna ofc get rid of the ugly official ginger on my phone!
What i look from a rom is:
Gingerbread or above based (2.3?)
Clean - no xxx apps and bonuses and software - as clean and light as possible (i dont use 90% of crap on official). As long as it got Market i can get all i need (dialer and market installed are basically all i need from clean install).
Ofc ext4.
Stable - not full of bugs (eg constant crashes, wifi not working etc)
Internal SD card is mounted and works (and hopefully can use internal and external together?)
And ofc performance - specially gaming optimized.
And battery usage.
Unlocked Bootloader.
Root friendly.
Aurora ICS is too unstable and problematic.
Official one is just full of junk + locked bootloader.
Also oxygen looked like internal SD isnt mounted (wasted 2gb of storage !!!).
You wont get all you want from 1 ROM IMO best custom ROM is currently (.35 kernel) elite X MIUI it has good performance and in call volume and battery life seems good too. If performance is more important than anything else CM7.2 is best but it has some very annoying bugs (battry life and in call volume). Then there is also ret4rt MIUI which has IMO best battery life but low performance (also no new GPU drivers). If you want good battery life, performance and sound I think its best to stick with stock ROM + overclocked kernel and delete all the stuff you dont want and theme it if you dont like looks. But if you really dont want to use stock then you may also try MIUI by sbasil which I think is very similar to Elite X.
And BTW you can unlock bootloader on any ROM (official too)
Just my opinion
well performance over battery life.
And ofc working internal SD - i noticed most has problems with it.
The I suggest you to try CM7.2 by geno. Internal SD is working (i think), awesome performance but battery life and in call volume arent the best and thats why is switched to elite X which seems very good too but with a bit less performance. And I suggest you to use supercharger script or RAM manager app if you want to get the most out of your phone
How about any cpu/ gfx etc driver updates for stock ginger

Since when is Aurora too unstable and problematic? I'm using it on my X5 and have had no issues. I miss the customization of CM7, but I find Aurora is just nicer to use given that it's on ICS.

Hey guys I'm pretty new to android roms etc etc I have a 512 mb gen 2 european blade that much i found out but i wanted to know whether there was a complete stockish rom with the latest kernel patches? I am running GSF now and it is fast and stuff but i would really like it to go faster with the latest kernels as it was updated quite some time back so i imagine it wont have the latest patches... any ROM without any cm7 mods and all just plain and simple stripped and modded stock with latest kernel mods like gpu axi uv etc ?
Try Swedish Snow : http://android.modaco.com/topic/350875-romgen2-swedish-snow-rls5-android-235/

U know the answer cm with tons of performance boosts and options
to be honest if you want your phone to go faster i would go with cyanogen mod 7 latest kang + wbaws kernel with GPU overclock
So the stock based ROMS arent the ones with the best performance..?okay and by latest kang which should i try?(i really dont want to overclock and things like that as it may damage the phone no?)
Err.. Cyanogen?
In my experience, cyanogen is one of the heaviest and slowest roms I've encountered, although that might just be me . It's filled with cool stuff and options though.
So far I've been hugely impressed with Elite Blade Rom:
It also has a stock looking ui, except for a sexy lock screen. It's very fast, and battery lasts f o r e v e r. Which is very important to me atleast.
Overclocking doesn't damage your phone, because it only lets you overclock to about 800mhz, and if it doesn't like that clock, it just crashes and goes to normal. Around 730mhz always worked for me, and battery life seems not to be affected.
Stock roms are like buying a new laptop, filled with user friendliness and sponsored apps. In other words; Mighty damn slow. So custom ones are definitely the way to go.
One down, nine to go!
By stock Roms i meant stock based modded roms but i agree thats what i thought was bad about cyanogen that it was real slow when i tried it once before i dont thats why understand how the KANGS will make a difference plus i want stock similar roms as there are no bugs not even minor ones for example in elite blade in landscape mode in the status bar the peeking android looks weirdly stretched and stuff the small things..are perfect in GSF.. if the KANGS can work faster then im willing to try that but preferably i want to know if there's a way to add the latest kernel patches or the latest kernel to GSF..?
Thanks for the replies guys
(Swedish Snow was nice but for some reason GSF still feels faster )
hmm ok i will help you out a bit after trying a lot of different roms available for the blade including ones not available on these forums since they are only Chinese based (im not chinese i just like to try out there roms).
Overclocking will not damage your phone mate because if you overclock your phone to a limit which is not supported by your phone it will simply reboot and put back the normal CPU settings for your phone to work in a proper manner (Do not tick set CPU settings in boot).
GPU overclocking is nothing to worry about because the GPU will overclock when you overclock the CPU (3D games experience on the ZTE Blade has improved)
As for other saying they find cyanogen mod 7 slow i do not know what version they flashed but i prefer to use CM7 Kangs developed by BurgerZ & Kernel developed by wbaw (both extremely talented devs).
The reason others may find CM7 slow is because they use ADW Launcher (free) by default but burgerz uses stock gingerbread launcher.
if you dont want to use CM7 my second fav rom for performance would be Swedish Snow
@ruckus92
i tried the rom when it was updated last, it was not bad neither good as the libs it uses need updating nowadays.
CyanogenMod is pretty bloated, but some kangs are not as bloated.
I find that Burstlam's kangs are pretty light and fast. I guess he must have gotten used to developing for Chinese blades (they only have 256 mb of ram)
You can find his latest build here.
I have tried the stock-based roms but didn't notice any major difference between them and Burstlam's rom.
And like Kannibalism said, ADW Launcher free is slow as heck. I suggest you switch to ADW Launcher EX, or a different launcher the next time you try a cyanogenmod rom.

nope no trouble mate just restore your backup
follow these steps:
1) take out the battery to turn off the phone
2) power on the phone holding the power button + volume down button (keep holding do not let go of these two buttons till cwm boots)
3) Clockwork recovery will boot up
4) select backup & restore
5) select the backup you want to use
6) wait for it to restore your data could take a few mins
thats all mate
Ah i was scared to death hehe thanks my phone's working fine now stable fast and smooth And what about squadzone's unofficial cm7.2 rc5.6 is that the latest kang?
Hey. I have a few questions.
I've been away from this for quite a while so I'm not in touch with any of the latest firmware anymore.
I'm currently using Kyrillos' 9.4 ROM, and I was really happy with it.
But my phone is giving me some problems so I'm thinking to flash another firmware.
Anyway, what I want to ask is this :
Does the speed or the battery life differ a lot between 9.6 and 10.4 / 10.5?
I know it's froyo vs gingerbread, but still.
Also, if I restore all my apps, will they work? Or are some of them froyo specific?
Is the batter life better? Or the same?
And last, after I flash any custom firmware, I need to flash an individual modem file of DDJP6 otherwise I can't receive most phone calls.
It happens with a few other users as well, so I'm not the only one.
So if I flash gingerbread, can I still use this particular modem file? Or will that work only on Froyo based ROMs?
Thanks!

Well, If you backup Gingerbread based apps and restore it on Froyo, then you may face some problem. But if you backup froyo apps and restore on gb then there wouldn't be any prob

well...to add sth here
Battery life depens very much on 3g usage(it drains batt pretty much)...
Otherwise if @OP will go for GB...he might face some apps not compatible problem due openFimg drivers..,mostly games & barcode scanners....about modem.bin....yes u can flash it with odin afterwards as u have same type of phone...if u'll need to....

I've been given a L5 to install something better than the stock ROM on, as the owner was unhappy with it. He is not a bleeding-edge tweaker, and would rather have a working phone than a super-featureful one. It's therefore important that everything works properly and quickly. It doesn't matter if the ROM is not super-new or with tons of features as long as it's stable and quick.
Any hints?

If you want longest battery life: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338297
I don't have to charge mine for an entire week. CM10, CM10.2 and CM11 do not even come close. It's been too long since I've used stock so I don't know how it compares to it battery-wise. Everything is fully functional (except the gallery edit function, which doesn't work in any CM ROM, and I'm not sure about NFC). The only tweak you should use is CrossBreeder.
