Hi All,
Amazon's "Silk" browser has been ported to other Android devices.
I tried it in my optimus one running CM 7.2.0 by adfad666 and it worked fine
Here is the link to the thread which contains the files and the installation instructions
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1418480
Check this out !
I try this browser is very beautiful but it also slow compare to others browsers.
Yeah, that is why the Kindle Fire was disappointing for most of the people. You could, however, have replace the Silk on Kindle Fire with something more functional.
I wasn't able to get it running on my Optimus V running IHO BACKside CM7.2.

Very nice and good looking browser.
In the amazon video app do you need to have an amazon active account in order to whatch the videos?

Here the apk http://www.mediafire.com/?iu3mpcbdzrwbdez
It doesn't work on my Fire with ICS, just shows blank pages.
Chrome needs to take advantage of the hardware acceleration features, which is not enable in ICS for Kindle yet.
thank you very much
I'm sad. I would love Chrome on my many non ICS Android devices.

How did you get the app to show up? I copied the apk to system/apps, but it doesn't show up on my KF 2nd gen. Play Store and Youtube work fine. Firefox crashes, so currently I have no browser...
Flash the AOSP jb ROM n u get chrome to work. It's working on mine flawlessly.

I used this to test Flash Player on my Kindle Fire and thought some of you would find this interesting...kinda makes you realize how significantly infinite the universe is and how we are such a significantly miniscule part of it!

As of right now the apk does not work on ICS. If the kindle fire ever gets updated it will likely work for us

No problems on my gt-p5113 using Amazon prime to watch shows. I'm using Apex browser pro without any issues like stuttering or lagging but I'm not using an apk, just viewing on the Amazon site itself.
Hey all,
I have the wired kindle app and it used to work great on my nook running cm9 but now force closes on the n7. Anyone know why and how I could fix it?
Thanks.

apps designed for the kindle fire will not work with the Nexus 7. there is no way around this.
you can install the amazon app store and install apps from their, but kindle fire apps will not work.
Can I ask why?
Would it work on a custom Rom? For instance once cm10 is released, couldn't it work then?

incredibly unlikely.
The kindle fire uses an insanely customized version of android like the Nook Color and apps that are made specifically for those devices won't work on any other version of android.
In some cases they can work on other devices, such as the amazon video on demand app which can work on a nook color running CM7, but it won't work on any device not running android 2.3 and on a 1024x600 resolution.

That's weird because it was working fine on my nook color running cm9.
Maybe if the new kindle comes out at a higher resolution and the woods are optimized for that...then maybe that'll work.
Thanks for your help.

as i said, the Amazon VOD app worked on the nook color because it was the exact same version of android and the same resolution.
Any other variant and it won't work. Now yes the new kindle fire will have a larger resolution. but there it could be the same situation. same android version + same resolution otherwise it won't work.
It seems they stream their videos with Flash but I guess Adobe / Google don't get along. One person from Amazon said it worked great while another person said it did not work.
But what about the books - will they work on (unrooted) the Nexus 7?
The amazon kindle app for android works just fine. Is this your question? You can also install the amazon app market on the N7 from Amazon's website.

Quick question, is Amazon Kindle app better than Google Books?
You can side load Adobe on an unrooted N7. You just have to use a browser such as Boat or Firefox.
