Hello
I Have an omnia 2 i8000 and I got it as a present from a frnd.the issue is that he didn`t use it for a long time (6months or so) and he placed a custom rom inside before he gave it 2 me.It worked fine for 2 days or so till I ran out of battery...when I tried to charged it,it didn`t work.after a few hours tried again and it started.connected it to pc and worked to sync files etc.after I removed it from pc,with battery charged (at least it showed on the screen it is).went threw menu and it freezed.tried to reboot it by removing the batery and it didn`t start at all.I measured the voltage from the charger ,it`s ok,measured battery voltage,it`s correct.the connectors from the phone and battery are in good condition so they touch. The connector on the phone outputs voltage for the battery to charge.
My phone won`t turn on without battery, doesn`t show any charging image/led.I want some suggestions how to fix this or what could happen.I need some data from it mostly...thx alot

Everything was just fine until yesterday when i realized the batterty's built-in monitor wasn't reading a real batt stat. I was sure I was running out of charge and the divice was still saying there was 50% left. I did a soft reset and my atom didn't boot. I took the battery off and waited more than 3 hours, put it back and couldn't boot. I haven't ever done anything to my mobile. No register tweacks, fisical hits or rom upgrades. I searched the web and found a procedure to get it back. Reset+camera choose 1 option and there you go with your device booting at last. I did so but when it ended whith the system loading proces it sent a notification saying that the battery was exhausted and it went off. Again it couldn't boot in a normal way even with the ac adaptor plugged in. I made sure the battery was fully charged. I did a bootloader again (reseat+camera) with the usb connected and i could get it back again but showing 0% battery indicator and would turn off as soon as i unpluged it. I tested the battery with a multimeter and even when it was fully charged i tried to recharge it until green light then i turned it on and the batt monitor was 100%. I could unpluged the usb and everything was fine. It didn't turn off but the indicator got stock in 100%. After an hour or so of normal use i was sure the battery was 90% or less while it was still indicating 100% of charge. I did a soft reset and couldn't boot again. I think the device knows when the battery is 100% charged but when it is less tha 100% and i do a soft or cold reseat the mobile thinks the battery is 0% and won't boot.
Yes, I have ugraded to ROM Xda-Atom-Exec-ENG-20060721-MOT0822 to see if this fixes it but now i have a rom-upgraded aton exec with the same fatal error.
I am at work rigth now and hopping my atom doesn't need a soft reset because if so i need to plug it in in order to be able to do a reseat+camera and wait some minutes until green ligth shows up. My atom knows 0% or 100% of battery charge but no numbers in beetwin.
Any ideas?
did you charge the battery for 8 hours on first use, continuing to discharge battery completely first three charges?
This is crucial for battery performance I now get at least three days of moderate usage and at least 7 days in standby, my advice is go buy a new battery follow the instruction manual completely, failing any changes (be sure to buy battery from somewhere you can get refunded) return the battery. Try also reflashing using bootloader mode, not using the SD card!
The last time i used bootloader was after hard reset a no card inside then i performed the last ROM upgrede available from O2. It seems to be a hardware problem more than a software problem as i thought at the begining.
I hope you are rigth, i guess the device gets charge information from the battery and the battery is telling it when it is 100% and 0% when it is under 100% and after a soft or cold reset. I am going to drain the battery all the way down and recharge it up to green light to see what happens. By the way i did not charge the battery 8 hrs when new.
Where do you think my atom is geting the batt charge information? From one of its inside sensors or from batt circuits?
Thaks for your advice.
I mean reflash using bootloader mode, ie. enter bootloader then plug in USB and run DSUU installer from your PC. Its hard to say where the fault lies, some Atom's had power management issues and O2 are fully aware of it, if yours is still under warranty I suggest sending it to a service center but be prepared to be without it for at least a month! (should change their name to SLOW2) and also be prepared to have it returned to you only to find they havent done a damn thing!
Its a bad battery, same thing happened to me. Just return it for a new one, the material is moulded with the smart chip inside there is no way to fix it.
Now my battery is beetwin 100% and 85%. I have searched other forums and i found out it is definitly a battery issue. It has been more than 6 months since i bougth my Atom so i have no more battery garanty. I thing i am going to wait before i buy a new one in orther to get the most of it since it still last more than 2 days.
Thanks for the information.
when a battery xp-02 (for atom family) is sometime stop at certain percentage, says 72% for long time, i do a soft reset and it drops to says 40%, is it a symptom of bad battery? or it is a ROM problem?
hi ive tried this:
"Problem 6: Device doesn't turn on, shows red LED only
In this case you can try:
Remove battery
Connect Hermes to charger or USB
Insert the battery while Hermes is connected to charger
Red light should turn Amber
Soft Reset "
but i dnt get any lights coming on it was working last nyt and i took a call after the call finished i put it on standby and i went to use it 20 mins later and it wasnt turning on ive done a soft reset nothing happened, cant do a hard reset and the above witrh the charger or usb didnt work anybody know wat might hav happened i havent done any upgrades its a standard m3100 from orange

The problem appears to be caused when battery has more or less zero charge and perhaps fooling the charging circuitry into not recognising a battery is in place.
So - Force charge the battery without the Charger
If your problems remain you could always try the following to manually charge the battery a little (enough to let the Hermes know the battery is present when you put it back in) credit for this goes to triposte as the following is adapted from his suggestion:
Those with a basic knowledge of circuitry and things technical will fair better with this solution. The electrical contacts are all important, poor contacts will render this a worthless exercise.
I leave it to you to decide how you connect the wires. If you have no other means you could enlist the help of someone to hold the batteries and wires together while you connect to the Hermes battery!
1) Remove the battery from the phone!
2) Take 3 fresh AAA batteries in series (total 3 x 1.5V = 4.5V)
3) Connected the (+) wire to (+) on the battery
4) Connected the (-) wire to (-) on the battery
5) Hold this in place for 60 seconds.(possibly longer you are trying to charge it enough for charging circuitry to recognise there is a battery installed.)
6) Put the battery in your phone
7) Switch on phone and start charging (via USB)
Hopefully you will get the Amber charging light.
It may be worth repeating this a few times if not successful on the first try.
Warning - Do not connect a mains based transformer to the battery with an incorrect charge rate (mAh) and voltage (V). Any attempt to force charge using mains transformers could be extremely hazardous (explosive). Only a qualified/competent person should attempt to charge the battery in this way. Similarly, even if you are using batteries to do this task, do not leave them connected for more than a few minutes and stop immediately if either set of batteries become warm.
If the problem persists it is worth re-trying the solution you mentioned in your post as well as the above, before giving up.
The final resort - a new battery.

hi ive tried wat you hav asked but still not red light or amber ligh it shws no light at all i dnt understand how its gone from working 1 minute to completely not working in another

Yes, I know. It has been reported by quite a few and is actually quite a common problem (relatively speaking) across several phone brands and types.
The solutions you have tried have worked for some, not all. One or two found that it randomly (seemingly) just started charging again.
Your problem is whether to return the device as defective (hopefully under warranty) or whether to chance just getting a new battery. A battery will be fine if it is the usual battery problem, but if not then you'd have wasted money. If you have access to a retailer where you could access a battery just to test it that would be ideal.

I seem to remember having the same (similar?) problem on my old Universal - I think the solution in that case was to take the battery out for 10 minutes, then put it back in and then connect the phone up to the mains charger, rather than to the USB connection on your PC. The phone needed to be left off (not difficult with a completely flat battery ) and then seemed to charge....
Just a thought, not sure if it's been tried in this case?
Mark.
Hi there,
First I apologize about my poor English, I am Brazilian and should speak portuguese, but this is the best forum ever... so I'll try my English
My story:
Four days ago my 1,5 years old 9100 running the WM6 NTS was working perfectly, the best device I ever had. But, at night, I removed the battery to get the SIM card and then I put the battery back but did not turn on the phone. I used the SIM card in another phone during the night. I was afraid to lost it.
In the morning, I removed the battery again, put back the SIM card and then the battery. When I tried to turn it on, nothing happened, just like as if it was without any power. I was surprised, because I had fully charged the battery in the night before and before I first remove the battery, it was about 80% of power. So, I decided to try to recharge again, but there was no lights on. I left it charging for about 10 minutes and got nothing.
So, as I was leaving home, I put the 9100 in my pocket, after a few minutes I tried to turn it on again and it worked. The battery meter was showing about 80%.
Ok then… It worked well on Monday. But when I woke up yesterday morning (Tuesday), the phone seemed to have self-restarted during the night. So, I typed my password and it started working well again. I checked the battery meter and it was showing about 40% of charge. After a few minutes the phone seems to be totally dead. I tried to charge it again and after 2 hours I got nothing, it was still dead, did not turn on and there were no lights on.
Later on that day, I got a multi-meter and checked the battery tension. With the positive on my left I could check that measuring the power with the wires on the 1st “slot” and on the 3rd on, I get 3.47V. Measuring the 1st with the 4th I get 3.63V and measuring the 1st with the 5th or 6th I get 3.75V. Check what I mean at http://webtennis.rg3.com.br/qtek_9100/battery.gif.
I tried to remove the battery, then put it back and then turn it on again… It started, but in a few seconds, when was showing the OS, SPL, etc… it went off. I tried that again; it started, loaded the OS and went off. Once again I tried this, but with the power cable on, so it started but in seconds was off again.
So I thought “that might be a bug, maybe if I run the update utility it will work”. I started the phone in the bootloader mode, but before I connect the USB cable and start the RUU the 9100 went off. A few more times tring to remove the battery and starting it again, it went off and never came back again!!
I plugged the power cable on the wall and on the phone and there were no lights on, but I could feel the battery a bit warmer, just like it used to get. I left on the wall all night long and today in the morning still nothing. I removed the battery for about 30 minutes and got nothing, neither the screen with the OS, SPL, IPL…
Now I am despaired, don’t know what to do, no clues. I am in Brazil and don’t know where I can take to be repaired and have no plans to get back to Canada or Europe for the next 3 months.
Can you help me with this problem? I love my phone and want it working again.
Thanks for all your help.
Battery problem...?
It seems as thought you may be having a problem with your battery, not your phone. Try buying a battery off eBay, they are pretty cheap, and that should tell you what the problem actually is.
Or if you know anyone that has a wizard, try your battery in their device. If the problem is still appearing, then you will know that you just need a new battery.
Battery or charger ?
I agree with zakhir_n, it sounds like a battery issue not the phone. My friends MDA battery died after 2 months of use, so you can never be sure. We swapped batteries and revealed it was his battery not taking a charge.
Next check that you are using the original charger. I went away on business and grabbed the nearest charger for my 8125. Needless to say I grabbed a Motorola charger and it refused to charge the dead battery. Make sure you have the original charger, as it MUST say 1000ma or 1Amp output on the plug. The Motorola one I used was only 500ma or .5Amp and it was unable to recharge a dead 8125 (MDA) battery.
New status: WORKING
Hi there,
Thanks for all the posts.
Well, I checked my charger and it is a 1A 5V and my battery gets 100% of charge.
This is what I did:
Fully charged the battery, removed it for about 1 day an then I turned it on. Surprise!!! It was working and worked for 20 minutes and went off again e seemed to be dead.
Once more I the same thing but this time I flashed it with an official ROM. Fully charged the battery and removed for about 1 day. When I tried to turn it on, it worked as it was new.
So I flashed it with the WM6 Core 2.0n. It worked perfectly. When the battery got 80% of power, it restarted itself for several tines.
Now I bought a new battery and it is working very well, no problems till now. Guess you were right… I really had to change the battery.
Thanks for all the help and sorry about my English!!!
Regards,
Arthur
Nooooooooooooooooooooo
Hi there… Got the worst birthday present ever!!! Today I woke up and my QTek 9100 wasn’t working.
I got a new battery, when I put it on my phone it was 54% of charge. I used it till it gets 13%, then I fully charged it with my computer’s USB cable. Used the phone for 1 day and the battery was again around 80% of charge (just like the other time). I put it on “flight mode” went to sleep. When I woke up……. it was not working anymore, I put back the old battery and got nothing.
Now it is with the new battery being charged with my wall charger (1A 5V), but there is no lights on.
I already tried to run the WM5, tried a new WM6, checked the charger, replaced the battery and none of this seems to solve my problem… Do you know what more I could try? Do you know where I can send it to fix in Brazil?
I don’t know what to do… I already sent e-mails to QTek and to HTC and after 1 week got no answer…
Thanks for all the help!!!
Hi i have a problem. Yesterday my Prophet battery goes to 0%, when i back to the home I plug-in it to charger. The light-emitting diode start flashing, but i can't turn on my phone. After 8 hours connected to charger Prophet still won't work. DO you have any idea? Maybe this is battery problem?
PS. Sorry for my poor english.
same with me,my dopod 818 pro won't turn on after 2 month not use,i try to charge, but the led not light..its off..i have no idea witn this problem, please help me to solve.thanks
Same problem with my Prophet.
After 3 month of no use wont charge and wont go on, no light of chargin nothing.
Is the orange light on when it is plugged into power without battery???
Any one solve this problem????
Thank you
UPDATE
I open the battery and fill it with 3,5V directly on battery inner contacts for few minutes
( directly on battery contacts red + and black - and I control it with multimeter to see how the voltage rising up. )
After aprox 3 minutes I try to power it up.
AND IT WORKS!
I put it on charge and the orange light went on and strat charging the battery. The phone now works.
So it is the battery issue. ( Last night I put it on power over the night and nothing no charge at all, what a stupid system )

and i used desktop charger for 5 minutes directly on the battery
then plug it in and charged normally with usb connector
used the desktop charger on the first and last pins on the battery
Hello, i'm sorry, my english is bad. but i wanna help.
Now, before 1 week i have the same problem, my qtek s200 after update whit wm6.1. OK 1 month everything was ok, but after that /i don't now where i go wrong but no matter/ that my phone start stuck in bootloader. I let it one night on to see, maybe will turn, and at the morning he wont start, even the light wont start wen i put the carger on. I take one charger/from sony erricson/ cut cable, there are 2 cables, take off the battery of my pda, put directly cables from sony charger in to battery, black is minus, red is plus, but don't worry, there is no problem if you make mistake.Let it like that 1-2 hours, put battery back on pda and everything will be OK.Now in my case my ROM fu** up, i go to tree color screen/see more info how to do that/ and replace the ROM.and next time do not full dry the battery.Hope i help.
Hello to everybody!
My phone doesn't charge sometimes at all, it takes up to 5 hours sometimes to charge fully.
I am on the stock rom - rooted - right now, and for example, while having the red light on while its charging sometimes it doesnt light up (the red color).
Sometimes i also changed the sim card and i had a better battery percentage (i have made the batterystats reset thing later btw but it still remains)
I have tried a lot of custom roms, if somebody wants to know.
So is it a problem of the battery? I am using the original adapter.
Or should i flash the stock rom again by odin? I came to stock rom back with twrp.
Should I change the battery?
Can somebody please help me???
(Sorry for my english skills xD)
I have the same issue. My battery is charged up to 50% and sometimes up to 70%. If I'm lucky, restarting my device battery is charged up to 100%. I think it is battery issue and not a charger issue.
The same happened to me a while ago. The phone took a lot longer to charge or didn't charge at all.
Switching the charger (or rather the cable in my case) worked for me, but the phone doesn't get hot when charging anymore, so I'm not exactly sure if that's something positive.
Change the USB cable. It worked for my tablet(with the original cable it took 8 hours and with a standard one 3-4 hours)
