OK so apologies if this thread exists, I did do a search but it wasn't so successful.
Has anyone gone from the Desire Z to the GNote? Just looking for some details of your impression, specifically on audio quality comparisons.
Thanks in advance

I went from Desire S to galaxy note, and have to say this is one of the best phones out there on market... You won't regret it if you choose it...
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
I'm coming from a Desire Z, and still own it so I can directly compare.
I can not go back to anything smaller screen wise.
The note has MUCH better audio quality for phone calls, I hear other people much better, like they are there with me.
I was shocked about the Desire Z audio quality when I switched to it from a HTC Hero. The Hero sounded much better...
My Note reminds me of the Blackberry Bold 9780 for audio clarity in phone calls, which is to say it is perfect.
For music I have no idea, since I don't use my phones for that, but I know the Desire Z had a very clean output from the reviewers that tested it, and the Note having the same Yamaha crap that the S2, maybe it is less good that the Desire Z.
So the Note has much better sound for phone calls, but surely worst quality for music. By which mesure I don't know...
Otherwise, it is just not comparable. It's another world entirely.
Screen. Speed. Power. Saves my eyes. Feels lighter in my hand. Takes awesome pictures and video... etc.
Go ahead and get it. !!!

I also came from desire z.... It was a great fone but i wasnt as excited when i got the note compare to when i got the desire z about a year ago. I gave it to my wife who uses blackberry. All she does with the desire z is to play angry birds and surf a bit through wifi. I wont be going back to any smaller touch screen fone now that i have this huge and beautiful note.

Yep this phone is awesome! My mate who has a N900 just loves it too, but then again everybody I showed it to does too lol. iPhone is so overrated, it's for little schoolgirls...
I agree it is a fantastic phone and the practical HTC layer makes it a superb phone for anyone. My favourite bit is the friend stream. What I don't like is the increase price of.games.compared.to Apple app.store prices.

Well your on the atrix forums so obviously everyone here picked the atrix. In your sig you bought an inspire already....and there's already like 15 threads here about inspire vs atrix

I got rid of the garbage phone called the Inspire after like 5 days. The battery life blows big time and the speaker volume at max sounds like a stereo on volume level 3. The atrix runs much better IMO and is more future proof. It may not have all the ROMs and Kernels the Inspire does but oh well I'd rather not carry a charger around everywhere I go or miss phone calls and texts due to a horrendous speaker.
U are right so far thats what i dont like about the inspire. But hows the atrix? Is it hard to root and can i get custom rooms?

I have both phones and I do say that the Atrix does have a better speaker. When you root and put another ROM on the Inspire that sound quality and volume improves signifigantly.
Also by flashing another ROM on the Inspire the battery life improved as well. I also picked up a spare 1800mAh batter from www.obostore.com and my battery life is even better. Also throwing juicedender on your phone also improves a lot. You can totally customize your battery with just that app.
For me it was a tuff choice to make but I decided to keep both of them. I love HTC and the sense UI. It trully feels personalized with how much HTC software is put into the phone. The Atrix is more bland but what it lacks in sytle it makes up in power. The performance difference between the two phones is noticable in the Atrix favor. It's going to be interesting to see how the Atrix holds up against the LG Thrill with the dual core TI processor. I have my money on the graphics processor company instead of the the calculator manufacturer.
So what would you recomend

I leave it up to the end user. If you like the software that HTC provides then go with that. Also the 4.3" is really nice to have.
The Atrix has that raw power that practically no phones pocess to date. It's really a hard choice in my opinion. Both phones are going to be good choices. If price is a matter then deff go with the Inspire.
I dont care bout price i just want to have the top of the line phone but i hate apple and its isucks i mean iphone

I tried the Inspire on Thursday. The HTC sense was awesome, But the
speaker volume is low and tiny. Also noticed signal strength was not as
good as my iphone. I returned it yesterday. I'm thinking of going back to AT&T today to pickup an Atrix.
well i've had my atrix for a few weeks now and i would definitly recommend it over the inspire, it's not hard to root, and the ADEO rom is really nice, u can't really fully get the feel of a phone in the store(i found that out back when i had the HTC Touch Pro 2 which i regret buying), but the Atrix totally blows the inspire out of the water when it comes to performance and that's a major key when buying a phone, yea the outside of the phone is important to, but you wouldn't buy a Ferrari with the engine of a pinto lol, so definitly go with the Atrix
Thsnks a lot i think im go to att today and getthe atrix

All the so called issues u are referring to can be fixed by flashing a custom rom. I was torn between making a decision but I chose the inspire because the atrix clearly lacks dev support. I like modding and overclocking. The atrix looks like a beast but there are no true mods for it. Who wants gingerblur? Lol

But I would suggest watching videos and looking in forums because you may want the phone for diff reasons. I buy phones based on what it can do after root.

Had an inspire, tried like 4 roms, audio fixes, OCing, and cm7. Same story crappy to almost acceptable battery life, low volume, bogs even with a 1.8 oc because it's still a single core cpu, almost no internal media storage, and slower ddr ram.
The only things the inspire has over the atrix imo is bigger screen (which could go either way based on preference)and hsupa (which att is enabling 4g in april supposedly so thats valid for only another month). I'd mention roms as a plus but all the do is try to fix the crap already wrong with the phone.

Don't know if anyone has posted this or not, but the size is what made me go with the Atrix. The Inspire made me shift my hand to reach the unlock button, then shift again to reach the home or back button. The Atrix just fits.

I'm gonna buy a new phone just for internet, apps and normal stuff i'm not intrested in gaming.
I have to chose between this 2 devices, but they seems very similar >_<
I don't like sense but there are a lot of custom rom,i just want a stable ICS rom but the camera on the nexus S really sucks
what should I buy? i'm talking about the i9023 version
As you stated, Desire has better camera and video is 720. Even so, I think Nexus S takes decent photos.
One thing I would recommend, is to check around on both forums (mostly on the development and Q/A). This way you can get a bigger picture and a grasp of known issues on both devices.
Not sure about Desire's forum, but Nexus S is one of the best here on XDA. Development is awesome and you would have a lot of options with ICS ROMs which are more than stable.
Nexus S every time.

If you want an awesome dev community, than Nexus s.
if you want a better camera, than Desire
I would compare them side to side if possible and decide that way (i.e. not on specs), the screens and body construction are very different.
Desire HD has a better clscreen
Sent from my Sexy Sexy Nexus S
i have both phones and i occasionally switch back and forth. The desire hd is nice because it has solid construction, a bigger screen (if thats what you want), better camera, and the extra ram on it is really nice to have. I prefer the nexus s however because its lighter, smaller, and with custom roms its much snappier than the desire hd.
HTC sense is beautiful, but I think Nexus S is better!
Advice
I have personally used both devices and here is my guidance
Desire HD vs Nexus S:
1. D HD as very good screen and fits anyone's palm very well... whereas NS is almost same but a bit slim... but both tie up because the resolution is almost same
(i9023 is indian version which has Super LCD instead of AMOLED) AMOLED Nexus S has complete pitch black where there is black, but LCD has little bit grey
2. D HD has a good camera and so does NS... but if u install latest version of ICS on D HD, video camera doesn't work... check Desire HD sections if u need further info... whereas Nexus S rocks...
3. Development for Desire HD is low compared to Nexus S... Means if Android 5.0 releases, Nexus S and Desire HD both may have chance to get it, but if 6.0 releases, HD has very low chances, very very
4. Desire HD has good built quality, but it had more mass and weight than NS, so the chance of breaking when dropped is more in D HD, whereas NS may survive with opened back and scraches
Final advice >
Go for Desire HD if u are not a tech person and will stick to stock (manufacturer provided OS) and enjoy the features
Go for Nexus S if tech is ur best time pass, new roms, new stuff to show to friends everyday... and if 5.0 releases Nexus S will surely gets it... Not sure about Desire HD... Nexus S may even get 6.0 - If u r a noob ignore this and go with desire hd
NOTE: TRY FOR NEXUS S I9020 NOT I9023, LCD HAS ISSUES
@Above I have an i9023 and i have no screen issues.

I'll go for a Nexus for these 2 major reasons:
1. Fully supported by Google and AOSP
2. The biggest community of all phones

If i remember correctly the desire hd has 768 mb of RAM which Is quite a determinative factor....

Cut it short.
If its Sense, Stock, Beats, with a crazy oc of 1.7ghz... Go ahead with Desire HD. WHICH IS SO HARD TO ROOT WITH THIS DEVICE.
or
You can go with the best performance with best devs, themes by best themers and best tweaks made by brainmaster, GO FOR THE NEXUS!
The easier to root device, easier to flash, easier to get 4.0.4 IMM76I fast.
Must remember, Nexus S is one of the best devices and the first to have a NFC Chip.... Which you can scan smartags...

When S4 and M7 get announced then videos like that will be useless.
Yap, for now that is only top high end to compare with.
But hell yea, i wait for htc m7 and s4 to compare it via xperia z.

True but Xperia Z's colours seem natural.
So I have officially placed my order for the Xperia Z Ultra and it will be here come Tuesday. With that much screen real estate I just couldn't resist. I know I'm going to miss the BoomSound speakers, but outside of that, I'm ready to see how this thing works out. Anyone else leaning towards getting the Z Ultra?
