Has anyone found a fix for this yet? Only issue I've found thus far with the ROM. Otherwise, it's great!
Doesnt do that for me...
It does for me on the newest Fresh ROM. Doesn't really bother me being that I rarely unlock the screen that way. If I had someway to disable that method of unlocking alltogether, that would be better IMO.

I think it is a result of using the HTC Lockscreen rather than the stock Android one.
This happens on the Fresh 2.0d and DC2.05
It is driving me NUTS!
Any idea how to fix this?
Installing Espresso or DROID launcher from this thread will fix it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=657728
have you tried pressing menu once?
I'm almost positive that this has always been a feature of the HTC lock screen even in 1.5
If you don't fully slide the lock screen a message will appear stating either fully slide down the screen or press menu

That's hardly a "fix". That's like saying you can fix the low tire on your Porsche by buying a Yugo....
I would pay cash money for a ROM that got rid of the double menu press to unlock.

I would say the issue is hardly a "bug".
But, if you want it fixed, I've given you an option. I don't know if I'd compare installing the espresso launchbar or DROID launchbar to downgrading from a Porsche to a Yugo.... but, if you were really interested in fixing the issue without using espresso or DROID, you could install one of those launchers and then reinstall the stock launcher and see if the problem stays away.
Or, you could wait until someone else figures it out for you....
All I know is that I am running DamageControl v2.05 and no longer have the menu pop-up issue.
Droid launcher does resolve that issue. I have come to like the style of it for now until the next version of this rom comes out. This is an issue with flipz rom as well. The Droid launcher works good on each rom.
Just to everyone is clear, the problem is new with the recent roms DC and Fresh.
Pressing menu once brings up the lockscreen, pressing menu again unlocks the screen AND brings up the white menu popoup. It should only unlock the screen and not open the menu.
I have installed the black droid launcher onto fresh and I no longer have the problem.
yea i have teh same problem, and its annoying as hell as thats usually the way im used to unlocking my phone, and what they mean is, click home once to wake up phone, click again to unlock and it also brings up the home menu, it never did it on any other rom. its annoying

Just to be clearer. This was a built-in function from 1.5, its on page 10 of the Sprint manual. HTC considers this to be a feature, not a bug.

Incorrect. On stock 1.5, from the lock screen, you could press menu to unlock instead of swipe. Now, if you press menu from the lock screen, it will unlock AND pull up the menu.
Regardless of whether this is a feature or a bug, it was not like this in stock 1.5.
I'm not rooted, I really didn't feel like tinkering with the phone right now, but I'm kind of getting tired of Launcher2's performance and behavior since the last OTA... aside from the obvious bugs (forgetting which home screen you are on), quite often it takes FOREVER to "redraw" when I exit an app and it force closes 5-6 times a week.
Any prospects of them releasing a bug-fix patch? I really don't have time to play around with loading roms and then maintaining my own update schedule.

That's not a bug, it was changed on purpose in 2.1 to go the the 3rd homescreen when you press the home button. It does seem like a weird idea at first but it's actually increased my navigation speed considerably. Before I would forget which screen I was on sometimes and I would have to pause and check. Now I know which one it's going to be and I know instantly which was to swipe to get where I want to go. I think it was a good choice.

Yes it is. I suggest you check again.
From any home screen other than the 3rd one you mention, hit the apps softkey to open apps. Now press either of the home screen buttons, soft or hard and you will (as you say) get returned to home screen 3 or the middle one. This is fine and good. BUT take a look at the mini icons at the bottom of the screen.
They are supposed to show
** ** to indicate you are on screen 3.
However they will incorrectly show the screen you were on before heading off to the apps screen and not the one you are on now.

That IS the home screen bug.
Yeah, that and the occasional battery pulls I have to do to reset a frozen phone and the bluetooth random reboots are getting bothersome.

Yes that would be a bug. I haven't heard of anyone else with this problem nor can I replicate it myself.
I've heard of many people with that bug. I have it also. Only on the stock ROM. The background is also offset to where it would be if you were on the previous screen (the one the dots indicate), as opposed to being centered when on the middle screen.

I had that issue before I rooted and installed Enom's ROM, now I rely on noticing how far left/right my wallpaper is shifted to tell which screen I'm on, as I have the phone/browser buttons in the bottom corners instead of the dots.

I'm guessing he means that before he installed CM6, when he pressed the back button mid game it would take him to the homescreen, however it now takes him to the application he was using before starting up the game (Again this is a guess). Isn't this normal behaviour or have I become too accustomed to custom ROMs?
For example, you start the email app, download a document which then opens in whatever office suite. Once you press back enough times to exit the app you return to your emails. Doesn't stock froyo work like this

This is my understanding as well (of both the OP's verbal diarrhea and of how Android works).
I think its the other way around...
Since installing CM, his back button seems to be returning him to the home screen (the one with the clock, as he puts it), instead of just backing up a screen...

yes danger-rat explain me very good!

Yeah, I though that was the problem, but I'm not sure I can help. As far as I know, the back button cannot be configured.
Since the back button now acts like the home button, you could try configure the home button to act like the back button? Lol...
The best suggestion I have would be to wipe and reinstall CM6. This isn't normal behaviour, so you've possibly got something corrupt...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
yeah...but these is after the new instalation of the new cm6...actually it's from the cm5.0.8
Still, it's not behaving like it should. A wipe and reinstall may help...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
that's the only option?because every time that i changed my rom i did wipe already
What rom exactly are you running? CM 6 Stable or one of the nightly builds? I know that there is an option in the newer nightlies that a longpress on the back button with kill the app.
"Common: Kill foreground app by long-pressing back - Evan Charlton"
Link to changelog: http://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_vendor_cyanogen/blob/froyo/CHANGELOG.mkdn
i'r running CM 6 Stable the latest one
so my only option is just to install again the cm6(after wipe)?
I encountered a weird bug. If you open the properties button on the Launcher at top of screen and then click the "notification" tab, the tab pops up but never goes away. Click the Launcher setting tab again and nothing happens. At this point I rebooted the tablet to get the notification dialog box to go away.
Any ideas?
Hit the back arrow...
I tried that but did not work. All menus lock up after that. Reboot works.
Wow, that's definitely a bug - got the same thing with Launcher Pro when I clicked on Notifications. Needed to power down the device as it was (almost) frozen.
Anyone know if this occurs in builds before the 2.03 (performance pack)? I'm just wondering if this is the PP at work, or if this has been around since the first TnT Lite builds.

Roebeet, thanks for all your hard work
I can confirm the same results with 2.2.0 and launcher pro...almost frozen and my keyboard would not open.

I can confirm this on TnT Lite 2.00.
EDIT: I found that if I tap on the battery or wifi indicator, it resets the notifications, and the problem goes away after that.
Just wanted to confirm the same thing. I'll tap on the battery twice and that makes it go away. Glad I bought this thing, I love the feeling of discovery I'm getting from testing different apps and firmwares, haven't had this much fun since I hacked my first PSP!
Same Issue w/ ADW Launcher
I have encountered the same issue but only with ADW Launcher. Everytime I try it it eventually freezes with a white notification tab open. Launcer Pro and the standard launcher works fine. I have tried reinstalling ADW 3 different times and same results. I am running TnT Lite 2.2
I've had it happen with ADW and the swipe down action configured to pop up the notification panel. I never identified the actions it took to actually get it closed again, but I've been able to recover without having to reboot. 2.20 here for me also.

Wifi sleep policy does not work
Anybody else has this problem? My wifi immediately switches off if I put tab to sleep via power button, despite the fact that I put policy to never sleep.
If I'm understanding everyone here, when you swipe up or down on the home screen the battery notification bubble pops up and the controls on the top freeze? I fixed this by going into ADW's settings and disabled swipe up and down.
ETA it wasn't the battery bubble, it was notification bubble. My fix woiks - lol.
Tapping the wifi or battery icons does reset the notification dialog box. It would be nice not to have to do this though.

I found this to be a problem when you have gestures activated in ADW. I don't make my notification bar disappear, so I disabled gestures and the launcher notification bug went away. Of course, this does take away the gesture functionality, but it's something I only accidentally did anyway.
Ehun,
On a different note, thanks for your awe review of the g-tablet, made me go out and buy one!
You mention that it was hard to see buttons in the dark, I worked aroundit but using the buttons on launcher pro. If Only there was an app to poweroff the device it would be great.
Thanks.

Click on the actual notification bar and it should clear it out. It seems to be a screen glitche where the pop up ends up on the left side of the screen and slightly off screen.
Thanks for the reply. I will try as specified. you do a great job with the support! Thanks!
"Quick Boot (Reboot)" from Sirius Applications Ltd on the market will let you reboot, power off, or boot into recovery. It's free and it works since you've more than likely got root. Be careful though: it does have a 29.18kb footprint if you're short on space. B)
I've noticed that after pressing the home button and swiping between menues there is a VERY SMALL, yet noticeable lag. Sometimes the clock/weather widget reloads. It was like this out of the box the first day. Then you start swiping between homescreens and its gone and everything is smooth as butter literally.
I saw this in one of the review videos too. Hopefully a software update addresses this. Somewhat annoying as the phone has 2GB of memory.

Same here... Swiping the home screen is smooth but returning to the home screen via the home button causes a 1 second delay...
I have also noticed the clock / weather widget refreshes when returning to home screen from apps at times...
Overall it's not big deal and I am sure it will be fixed in the next update...
yes~!!! this is one of the annoying parts of this phone.
it isn't performance related either. in nova launcher i have it set that pressing home when at the default screen brings up the app drawer. doing so causes the same fraction-of-a-second delay. but pressing the actual app drawer button on the screen is immediate. something in the Android software is causing this delay between button-push and action.
Thought it was just me.
I'm going to root it and flash ultimatum. Hopefully it gets rid of it.

Thanks guys. Glad to see its not just my phone. Its by no means bad, just annoying. The home button needs to be more responsive. Hopefully in a software update. If this is all we have to worry about then I'm good.
Yea. Same goes for me, tried both apex and nova just to test if the lag depends on the launcher. I'm on apex now though, a bit less laggy than nova.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Nova with fancy widgets (sense style clock) and voice disabled not really seeing any lag.
There is a setting you can turn off to fix this home button delay actually.
What you do is
1. Go to apps
2. Find "S-Voice" and open it
3. Hit settings button
4. In settings there is a option for "Launch S Voice" near the top of the settings.
5. Click the box to stop it from launching S-Voice when you hit the home button.
6. Now the home button works very quickly, no more second delay.

The delay is there because if you double tap the home button it brings up SVoice, so it gives a small Window waiting for the second press before going to the home screen.

If I wanted to be a "talking to your cell phone like its a person" douche I would have bought an iPhone. Keep your dignity and just type in whatever you're trying to do, it will probably take less time then getting the voice recognition to get it right

The one and only thing I ever use android's voice recognition for -- and you don't even need S-Voice for this -- is setting alarms, because it's quicker than doing it manually and very accurate.
e.g.: "set alarm forty five minutes"
lol, didn't yall watch any reviews on Youtube? They stated there's a slight delay because it's waiting for a second press for S-Voice. I thought everyone knew that.
Not when pressing the home. When swiping through home screens. There is a slight delay. Its Ever so noticeable. More so when having a few widgets on the home screen.
