How hard to fix? Nothing to fix. Fixing such phones is replacing broken parts with new ones. Case is for replace (made of aluminium, expensive probably), camera module probably for replace (it's all in one assembled together), camera led seems to be for replace too. Replacing that all is 30minutes and pretty easy. Look for parts prices on net.

Well I went to a HTC service in my city and they tell Me that they have to change all motherboard if I want to fix it and that will cost me as much as new phone and they have to do it cuz my phone is bougth from from another countrey and the don't have the software for fixing it so I'm stucked.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

Whoever told you that is a moron. If the phone is booting the motherboard is fine. What they have to replace is the volume button ribbon cable assembly. It has the board that the camera and speaker/headphone jack is mounted on. that part is about $40 USD. The camera is about 15 USD and the back casing is about $50 USD. And why would they need software to replace a flex cable assembly. Don't do business with them.

Does it all work fine?
replacement LED flash lens covers and Rear battery covers are very cheap to buy
there are many videos on youtube "Desire Hd Disassembly" that tell you how to open it up, its just a few screws to remove the back cover,
main problem with opening the dhd is the warranty void stickers and to get to two of the screws you need to remove the sticker near the battery that has your IMEI/ serial on it, and its hard to stick back on

lcd white screen / * HELP * connecting MOTHERBOARD - Wing Herald

i have been a member , but mainly use the site to get details & at one point tried to OVERCLOCK my phone (didnt go to well)
that said i HAD BROKEN MY LCD screen last week on my
Tmobile Wing / HTC HERALD...
i searched many sites & finally came by a
ebay seller who sold me an LCD screen (w/ digitizer) for around $50 -->
I also was given a t6 screwdriver free.
i got the SERVICE MANUAL THATS ALL OVER THE internet for the wing (apparently its the ONLY SERVICE manual on how to dissemble the wing)
-- I FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS & WAS ABLE TO REPLACE THE LCD ITSELF.
I put together the phone in reverse to the manual & nearly exactly.
& then i got the WHITE SCREEN when i turned it on! --->
after messing around i figured out it was the MOTHERBOARD to LCD connector part ...
but i tried sticking it together with tape & it does not work
(I LOST THE YELLOW TAPE THAT WAS ORIGINALLY ON IT)
IT ONLY WORKS IF I USE MY FINGER & APPLY FIRM PRESSURE & still the color w/ dif. pressure [applied] FUGGs up.
(which would be impossible to do if i wanted to use my phone) --
so i don't want my $50 dollars spent gone to waste ....
'
DOES ANY 1 HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW I CAN MAKE IT STICK together
or FIX IT PROPERLY!
again i checked & it is the connector cable that travels from the LCD to the main/motherboard that causes the problem.
this is the last place i can turn to before i have to go to an OVERCHARGING cellphone store to fix it (even after i supply everything to fix it :smh:

Have you checked ebay for broken G1's? You might have better luck on there. Another thing I might try is calling tmobile and try to get someone who has authority to sell a broken G1, I'm sure they have a ton of them with all the people who brick there phones lol.
I have a G1 that I stole the mainboard from to replace a bad one. It was functioning, but had a cracked digitizer. I didnt really have an intention of selling pieces of it, but if I can recover the money I paid and help someone out at the same time, i would sell it. Sending PM....
gospeed.racer do you still have your g1's i need a long coaxil cable for the antenna not the little one the 80mm one if so can you email me a [email protected] thanks ill really appreciate it
Me too, lol.
The earpiece speaker is broken on my G1, I took it apart to see if it was a cable or anything like that but it didn't fix it. Id love to buy that part for $35 if anyone has that laying around. I'm not yet willing to buy a broken G1 for $50+ on ebay. PM me or txt / call 206.801.0359
Dan.
I sent you a PM. I have a friend that had a similar issue, the speaker was crackling. We actually were able to slide it in without disassembling the phone fully. The 3 screws for the lcd that you can get to were enough to gently flex it apart far enough too slip out the old speaker (they are double side taped in) and slip in the replacement. Tricky, but easier than opening the entire phone. Also, it is a good idea to clean the contacts while your in there- it is possible for the contact to get dirty and cause problems.
For the record, as soon as i get another phone to replace my MT3G, my g1 (my daugher is currently using) will be sold for parts. She'll get the MyTouch hand me down. I might be getting a cliq this weekend, so if anybody is interested PM. Id rather trade for any kind of QWERTY phone.
Its rooted, white with newer housing, the camera and gps dont work. Camera/gallery and other camera related apps force close.
part
well, sorry for being too late but my phone has the same problem and i searched around and found this site
globaldirectparts[dot]com/T-Mobile-G1-HTC-Dream-SD-Card-PCB-Board-p/htc730516.htm
but you will need to know how to put it in and have the tools to open your phone

If i press inside the red area (including home button) it wont work and its just like i pressed the near side, like icons in the left or right of that red area.
I tried full data wipe, cache and dalvik, tried flashing newer sbf and no good.
Do you guys have any idea on it?
Thanks
Bad news bro.
I'm pretty sure its a hardware problem, the screen must be damaged...

Better to get a new phone =D
a new phone is your option coz replacing the screen would cost you alot while you can get a better phone in a few bucks more!
New screens are available on amazon for 12 pounds (at least I spend this much)
However It may be a signal cable. They starts from 30$ on ebay
There are disassembly videos on Youtube.
I had a similar problem and I did the replacement two months ago and it works.
I bought the screen digitizer with tools on eBay.
Be sure That you have a torx3 beca use it didn't came on the tools! ;P
I had the same problem... I sent to the Moto Assistance and the had to change the touchscreen for a now one.
Good luck!
Not the cable. If the cable was damaged, it would shut down the entire screen. It's a problem with the digitizer. Hopefully for you it's relatively easy to exchange it, but you'll damage the camera sticker, the top panel of back side, above the battery and the speaker grid sticker (all of those are glued to the phone) in order to open it. Doesn't matter the way you take them over, you'll always damage it. Might wanna buy some of these on ebay too, although I'm not sure they sell it.
I had the exact same problem with my first M2, it was still under warranty but Moto took sweet 15 days to exchange it, and they returned my phone with a stuck volume rocker. Had to send it again, they took more than 15 days this time, so I asked for a replacement.

Pixel Discoloration Possible Flex Cable Issue

Hi All,
I just replaced my Nexus 7 screen for the second and last time. First time went without a hitch everything worked great. This time everything went without a hitch until I booted the tablet on with the new LCD/Digitizer assembly. The touch on this screen works, but I am getting some discolored pixels and a line in the middle of the screen that runs up and down if you are holding the tablet vertically. Pictures are attached of the phenomena. I read on ifixit it might be the Flex cable as someone described pretty much the same scenario and replaced the flex cable and got it working. Below is the quote from Ifixit.com If anyone has any insight about this issue that would be much appreciated. It is bearable to use. I really do not think its the assembly itself but rather something else like the flex cable which was not replaced new when I reinstalled it. I am still using the same cable from factory. Also the screen displays a lot of things with perfect resolution and the pixel discoloration seems to move from spot to spot and not stay in one location as dead pixels would behave. Thanks again in advance.
"I bought the LCD/digitizer on Ebay, the UK sellers are the cheapest.
After some forth and back mailing (the wrong address was used so the screen was shipped twice) I received it. The disassembly went smoothly although it took me a while to find out that the flat cables were locked in place with a retaining tab. Therefore I busted the data display cable. The screen came up in two halves, lots of snow, yellow or red. After straightening the display cable the screen was perfect but bending the cable back in place brought back the snow and discolorisation. For 10 Euro a new cable (also Ebay) and it works like a charm. Total cost 85 euro, 75 for the screen and 10 for the display cable.
Thanks for the guide."

Opened back housing, what do you guys think this metal "clip" is there for?

I was replacing the back housing of Nexus 6p to change up a little for fun, for the second time. The first replacement took place a month ago, from silver (OEM) to black. Since the black housing is scratched quickly without a case, I bought a white one, which came in today.
Upon inspection, I found this metal clip right above the camera cutout (shown in the picture below, it is from my OEM housing) to be missing on the new/white housing. Do you know what this thing does, and if absent, will it pose any issue using the phone? I thought it could be antenna connection at first, but then I found many other small clips stemming out from the board instead of the housing, so I thought those might be the antenna connections. Then what does this clip stemming out from the housing do

This is the clip supposed-to-be from my OEM housing
This is the clip broken piece from the new housing I got.
That clip connects to a contact above the camera as seen on ifixit teardown

Yes, any idea what purpose it might serve though? I have put the housing on anyway, just fear that it might cause some functionality issue down the road.

any kind of connection as such, using a spring clip, means its meant to get signal from A to B. In this case, it seems is something that may use some soft of radio signal.
anything like that missing a connection will surely affect something (is there for a reason)
