Just wanted to say Hi to everyone and introduce myself.
I'm fairly new to posting, as I have been sitting back and searching and reading to get all my info.
My name is Dan and I have a HTC Incredible with recently flashed MIUI 1.12.9 and 2.6.38.8-incredikernel-12/08/2011. I have used McTwist and Nils Business GingerSense ROMs in the past. I find MIUI to run great on my phone and its custom UIs are great. I run LauncherPro to give me back my app drawer instead of having all my apps on multiple screens.
Thanks to all the developers and everyone who made rooting possible. Keep up the great work.
Quick question..
I just came from MIUI, same specs, back to CM7.
I'm having issues, where the wifi on my phone will disconnect when the phone screen turns off...
I use this handset as a home-line, radio..
When i plug it up to the speakers, and let the music play... as soon as the screen shuts off.. so does my wifi..
i use DI.fm for my radio app
GrooveIP for my goovle Voice line,
and Google Voice Text messaging app for texts.
Please, if you have noticed this issue, or would mind testing it with MIUI, that would be great.
I have been running CM7 mostly.. but, last week i decided to see what all the hype about MIUI was..flashed, was working well, then all of a sudden the wireless thing appeared.
Come to think of it,
we did switch wirelessrouters out about the time the issue was noticed...
Let me do some more testing with the old router, and see if that makes any difference.
Welcome to the forums!!!! ;]
Thanks in advance for any input\testing\results you may come across

Change your sleep policy in advanced settings?
-My life is a shooting range, people never change-
Yup, it's been on 'always on' the entire time... I changed it back and forth between the three options just to see, as well, and still the same issue.. :/
Going to test the old router and see if it is something with that..
Results soon
Edit:
Okay, it's something to do with how the phone handles the router..
The old router, linksys e2100l, works fine. When the screen turns off, the wifi connection stays active.
The new router, rspro, for some reason drops about thirty seconds after the screen shuts off. :/
The linksys e2100L is running the latest ddwrt software,
The router station pro is running the latest openwrt backfire port. With ath9k wifi drivers.
I'll look more into this and see what's going on. I have a feeling this might be a cm7 universal issue, so i might get my hands on some more devices to test..

Just so you don't think I was ignoring you, I tested MIUI with just headphones and the MIUI music player and my WIFI stayed on. I don't use GrooveIP or DI.FM so can test that portion.
I do see that you have most likely solved your problem. Good luck getting new router to work

Hey everyone! I've got yet another problem... I have Jivetalk installed, alpha, and when it's CONNECTED, it won't turn off the screen. Only dim! But when DISCONNECTED (but still open) it does turn off!
So I thought "Geez... Lemme install another app!" so I installed Palringo, and same thing... Screen dims but won't turn off!
Is this a kind of known issue with apps that use data or leaves ports open or something? Some help or advice would really be appreciated.
www.beejive.com, if you'd like to try jivetalk (which I recommend 100%. They're the best.
I'm from Beejive, the developers of JiveTalk.
The screen item is a known open bug in our current alpha build (0.5.2). It will be fixed in our next build, 0.5.3.
You should get an alert in your app when the new build becomes available.
thanks.

Ohh then that makes me happy to hear that! Is there an ETA on it? I love your products, I've been using Jivetalk on my ipod touch and my blackberry. Also, is there a forum specifically for you? Or a Thread somewhere to talk about the WM6 build? Thanks

we haven't ran a forum for this alpha cycle yet, though we will start a few threads here and maybe one or two other forums once we go beta, which should be soon.
The backlight fix is already in the 0.5.3 dev build, but we're waiting on a few emoticon support fixes (the main feature in the 0.5.3 build) before releasing it to the registered alpha users.
For feedback, we prefer emails sent to our winmo address --> [email protected].
Wish MSN Mobile would keep the backlight on - it goes off in its normal power saving mode, but doesn't light back up again when you receive a message.
OK I think I understand what's going on. I see that on Skype they give you an option to turn off the screen or not, because they want to know if it should be turned off and go into standby or not. By default it must keep it from going into standby to keep a constant connection. I imagine JT must do the same thing. hehe. Can't wait for the next version weee! because right now when I receive a missed call, or an SMS and the screen turns on (i manually sleep it with the top button to keep JT open and not kill the battery) it stays on. Last night I went to bed early, put it to sleep myself, woke up and the screen was on all night. From 97% battery to 45 in 8-9h hours without use (my usage, but the screen was on! haha)
Can't wait Keeping my fingers crossed.
Recently Skype has made their app finally available to the world.
Now it can work over WiFi.
(Find on their website or market)
I've tried it on NexusOne and it seems to work. Signs in (when their servers are not overloaded) and even makes calls (for free between online skype users).
On HD2 Android builds the story is different:
App installed and signs in, but will force close immediately at any attempt to do more than scrolling the list of contacts.
What are your experiences?
Edit: Could it be related to LCD Density? Or compatibility Mode?
I couldn not even sign in.It says can not conect and will forse close
it works fine for me.. but that is because i use the app from 3 uk.. but yeah no problems at all.. as they have the Desire in their device portfolio i just browsed to their website from a desire build and installed it..

Do you use the default 240 LCD Density?
Ever since it's possible to increase it I've been use 16 or 180.
I am at the moment with NexusHD2 (2.2.1) build and I will try playing with another build later today, possibly it's an issue with Android 2.2.1.
Skype's working fine for me with Froyostone 3.1 (Desire) with Hastarin 7.1. First time I tried to login it gave an error for login, but I noticed it had to do with my internet connection which was already unstable both via 3G as well as WiFi. I updated my radio from 2.12.50.02 to 2.14.50.04 and now it works fine.
Sound is very clear and all features like skype credits and online numbers work properly. No videocalling yet, but hopefully we can expect it soon...
Thumbs up for Skype!
I installed it and everything worked perfectly...I was a little peeved to find out that it did not work over 3G so I uninstalled it.
Then I decided to reinstall it and wait it out for an update when we can make calls over 3G...now it will not even sign in....any ideas?
No problems for me. It works perfect.
RReckless
Eventually got it to login today.
Keep getting force close messages, especially when selecting the Details tab!
Ho hum...
Works perfectly.
Sometimes i cant hear the people talking but they can hear me and if i want to reboot it it takes along time to exit the app and right after that i will get an error to force close the app.
But when it works i can hear everyone clearlly and without any LAG.
Just reverted to 240 and it got working.
But I hate such big density on the hd2. That's the reason I avoid sense builds to make the most from the big screen :-(
Better use nimbuzz.

For more detail...
Skype works perfectly. I called my cousin overseas on Skype, he answered on his Nexus One. Sound was clear, with very little delay. Answering calls is a bit awkward because I was juggling it but in the end it was easy. being logged on to Skype increases battery drain, unfortunately. I went from 5mA standby to 45mA
Only one problem.
The screen was acting funny during the call when I held it to my ear. I'd move it back and forth to get it to turn off the screen. Sometimes it wouldn't, sometimes it would go dark but not turn off the backlight, sometimes it would.
Anyway, all of this is the app's problem, just need to wait for patches
I can't find it on market, and when i try downloading it from the skype website it says that it is not available for my device ??!? I'm using HyperDroid 1.5
I'm from Morocco, if there 's a restriction by country I do not see why it does not work from their website

A hacked Skype was recently released, allowing you to use 3G. check Engadget for more info.
i'm running mattc's 1.8 with r7.2 kernal, 2.14 radio and energy wm rom. the app loads fine and setup ok. on my first and so far only call i could hear the other party but they could not hear me. the connection sounded very bad and i called back not using skype. that was over 3g so i don't know if i just had a not so strong signal or if it was something else. going to try on wifi and retry on 3g somewhere else. will update results.
Can you guys quit skype or stop it from running? seems to be leeching my battery power..

Hi guys - hoping someone can help me!
I've found the perfect droid build for my tastes and battery consumption, but the problem is, my mobile web isn't working! The 'G' or 'H' icon appears, with the 2 arrows, and the left hand side one flickers on/off every so often, but I don't get a connection.
Now, I freely admit that I'm not very good with stuff like this, so I wonder if anyone can suggest some things to try and get my 3g up and running? I pay for unlimited data on my contract, so I really could do with it!
Is it worth swapping radio, or don't you think that will be causing it?
MDJ FroYo Streak Lite v1.1
Using kernel that comes with this build
Radio 2.12.50.02_2
Winmo ROM is Chuckydroid
Cheers guys
Bump.
It's not the APN settings as I've re-entered them. Any suggestions?
Sounds like the ROM, that specific ROM has had data issues. He's got a newer version, I'd download that and try it out, or back-up your ROM and plug-in a new kernel and see what happens.
Thanks man. I guess I'll try a different build - gutted though, as I love everything else about this one!
My phone has also taken to randomly restarting itself, or just switching itself off too. That's very annoying. It's done that on the last few rom's I've used. I might just go back to WinMo soon if it keeps doing it - it's pissing me the hell off, as for some reason, texts sent when my phone is off, don't come through when it comes back on.

well no recent ROMs i've used have had any of these issues. Check out my set-up in my sig. Maybe flash NRG and 2.15.50 and see if you still have these issues.
First and foremost to everybody over at ACS thank you for bringing Gingerbread to my Epic. For the most part I have a fairly bug free, fully functioning installation.
I did want to mention a couple of things:
- I am getting an interruption in charging (I know this was a known bug)
- I have fully functioning GPS (I got a lock in GPS Status right before I did the install, left GPS on, shut the phone down and did the install, when my phone booted up after the install I turned on GPS and got a lock right away!)
- My voicemail won't verify! (I can still receive voicemail, I just don't get the voicemail-to-text to work) Plus, my voicemail icon in the notification bar NEVER goes away! (Hoping there might be a fix for that coming soon)
- ED12 does something absolutely no ROM I have had does... I listen to Pandora in my car with an auxilary cable plugged into the headphone jack. I also have my bluetooth headset paired and connected. In the past, whenever I received a phone call or wanted to make a phone call I had to unplug the auxilary cable in order for the phone to route call audio to my headset... NOT THE CASE ANYMORE!!! In a very awesome twist all call audio automatically routes to the bluetooth! Also, amazing bluetooth compatability with Google voice, Voice Search, etc.
So, all in all, Gingerbread has made me totally happy! I am sorry that I put this in the General forum apparently I am too new to post on Development pages so I understand if this gets moved.
Curious, when do you think we will start seeing ROMs and Bug Fixes for ED12?
Also, I saw that Jez2cool's thread with the tar version, however the link to the file was dead (just came up with a Dropbox error page), will there be a flashable version for me to Odin coming soon? Will that version fix some of the issues I am seeing on the version I have installed through CWM?
Once again to the whole team at ACS thank you!
I will be looking forward to further development!

Samsung Epic 4g
ED12 - ACS-Leaky Gingerbread
There wont be any bug fixes for ed12. It will just be another rom that samsung will make. Its just a test build. Hopefully we can get another leak when another version comes out. Also the tar and flashable version thru recovery is the same thing.

It's actually so unbelievable that I think Samsung just hasn't overwritten that part of the code yet in attaching their skin to GB...
We probably won't be seeing a TAR to Odin since that file is off-limits until Sprint releases it to the public.

The lock screen date is a universal problem, not just ED12.
its a alot of bugs they dont say about this rom
I'm running gingerbread ED12 stock ROM right now for the first time. My first impressions are "Amazing." This ROM seems like it is the direct port from the Nexus S with TouchWiz on top of it. Everything seems to be working...I know people said they are having a lot of problems, but I haven't seen any too major ones. My battery meter is fine, GPS is working, and the phone isnt crashing.
WiMax doesn't work, which I assumed. And the lockscreen has the date cutoff like every other ROM in May. That's a problem with Samsung's TouchWiz that they need to fix.
EDIT: And again the "Time Without Signal" issue is still here. I wish they would fix that
gingerbread was way cool, but the thing main that stopped me from running it full time was the fact that visual voicemail wasn't working. Couldn't download vm's and wanted me to call the vm service like I was on a dumb phone. Eff that
There were some other minor bugs that I was willing to put up with, like not waking the phone when the keyboard is opened and only having the CRT power off animation but not [/i]on[/i]
Then there are the things that samsung/sprint seem entirely unwilling to fix like the date on lockscreen and whatever it is that causes google sky maps to always point at the southern hemisphere.
still, I was willing to forgive all that for HALF of the badass CRT animation.. it was THAT cool imo, but i just couldn't deal with calling to get voicemails LOL
Just use Google voice dude its better

It used to happen to me on Stock all the time. On EOS everything is fine.
On my mom's old Netgear Wireless B router whenever I connect my Xoom to it the internet will last for about 30-40 seconds then it stops working although the SSID is still broadcasting there's no internet on either my Xoom or my mother's Laptop. Wired devices still have internet. Rebooting the router solves the problem until the Xoom connects again. Tried changing every possible setting including; fixed IP reservation, broadcast channel change, WEP-, WPA- and MAC filter on/off. Nothing works.
I was sad to learn that android does not support ad-hoc mode for tethering (as I was used to doing that before with Symbian phones and Netbooks)
have the same problem. any solution? team eos ics 1.0.0 already changed channel on router still same problem
Yeah my xoom is wifi only and it happens on my work and home wifi.
Not sure when I use the mobile hotspot on my phone though.

I wonder if this is why I can't get netflix to work every night when I'm at home. I'd be interested in knowing if there is a fix for this.
I've thought about flashing the EOS ROM, but aren't there still bugs with it? I can't get an answer as to the actual benefits of flashing this ROM over staying on Stock ICS.
Any thoughts or comments, I'd be greatly appreciative if some of the users of EOS could offer the benefits of this.

The team EOS roms are solid. They have a stable build available if you don't want to flash a nightly. The roms have plenty of enhancement to the kernel and interface. Also the custom toggles on the notification menu is awesome. Faster boot times. Being able to use wifi while on airplane mode so the 4g or 3g doesn't kill you battery. You can also overclock your device. Finally you can enable the xoom to decrease brightness without hitting the power button twice and turning the charging light while on. Being rooted also has its benefits.
Don't be afraid. Team EOS is your friend.

I've never considered flashing my xoom. If EOS is that good. Is there instructions on how to do it?
I had this problem also. I changed the channel and the type of wireless to G (I normally set it to N type). So far, everything is fine.
It does happen to me also. The worst thing is you need to restart the tablet to turn the connection back up.
