There isn't one. Hah being as my only two smartphones have been the G1 and the G2...it scares me to go to any other phone for lack of development. Heck even the G1 has more development still than some of the newer phones that have come out over the past few months.

if you plan on selling on craigslist be aware that buyers will most certainly always want up to 20 dollars off the price your asking, so just a thought you might want to add 20 extra dollars to what you are asking, you never know maybe it will sell for those extra 20 but then you can also get your asking price, however, if you are not selling on CL then disregard this...

In the US, around $175. Europe, Asia or anywhere else there is GSM $300. You are probably going to have to hold out for awhile before someone is willing to pay those prices.

I don't know if this helps in your calculations of what your used G2 is worth, but brand new G2's still in the factory sealed box bring $325-$400 in USA on ebay.
Not really sure why you would want to sell your G2 though, there is not a phone I would rather have if you gave me a budget of $1000
There is no other phone made in all of the world with a REAL keyboard that has the G2's combination of reliability, style, fit & finish, reception quality, voice quality and dev support and it runs on the carrier than is 1/3 the price of the other cell phone companies, what in all the world could replace it?

I'm partial to agree myself. It's hard when you follow android and new technology and see all these great looking, better spec'd devices coming out but just can't give up on what really is a fantastic device.
Also, you can run the HTC Desire-Z from Bell Canada on AT&T

There is plenty of nice phones out there. But I wouldn't buy a g2. It scratches easy, back cover is horrible. The phone is just boring. Been trying to sell mine. Seems like 130 -150 is what I got for offers. I did laugh at the person and proceeded to tell him to f himself. Lol

If you don't want/need a QWERTY keyboard, there are plenty of better options. But otherwise, every other phone on the market with a keyboard is trash compared to the G2/DZ.

not true, I upgraded to the samsung vibrant back in july after it came out, then the mt4g dropped and so i bought it full price, which was like $400 and then sold my vibrant for $350 on ebay, so out of pocket it costed $50 for the "upgrade", so not trillionaires, just smart shoppers lol
true, if you keep a phone in great condition you can get a good resale value. as for me, I upgraded my sidekick 08 to the mytouch 4g and it cost me around $200 and Im keeping it as mint as possible

Guys, DO NOT GET THE SENSATION, get the g2x instead the sensation has a arm a8 processor (even though it's clocked at 1.2ghz), compared to the g2x's arm a9(clocked at at 1ghz), so it's actually a better processor, regardless of all the other specs.

would you trade g2 for g2x?

i used to have a g1. bought it the month after it came out. then got the g2 a month after it came out. i love my g2.
i may come into an opportunity to get a g2x for my g2. would you trade? i know the g2x has some issues but i'm gunna flash it so it should fix most problems. plus dual-core, 4.1'', front facing cam, hdmi? seems like a pretty good upgrade.
any1 get a g2x after having a g2? howd you feel after switchin?
I got the G2x before selling my G2, I do miss my G2 though, great phone!
I traded my wifes mytouch 4g for another G2 (so I can go back if I want to).
I haven't had any problems out of my G2x but, some have had problems.
If you have the opportunity to mess around with the G2x for awhile to make sure it doesn't have any problems that have popped up with others, I would go for the trade.
Even better if they want to do even trade.
I say its definitely worth it. However if you use the keyboard a lot and can't live without it then well things change

Nope, it's not HTC. LG's always have buttloads of issues, and terrible software support. If you think HTC is slow with them, you won't even get them after 6 months with LG.
Never been a fan of LG when it comes to phones.. just bad experiences with them. I have no problems with the G2, so I don't see any real need to change it to the G2x.
Lack of qwerty will definitely hold me off from getting g2x

Definitely not worth it. Roommate has one and even after two returns its still a piece of junk even on stock rom. Random reboots, doesn't hold a charge for ****, lockups, white around the edge of the screen, and that's just touching the surface. Its a GORGEOUS phone and when it actually works it rocks, but like I said a year ago, the first gen dual cores were all gonna have problems that needed worked out. And his phone proves it.

The G2X looked really promising, but unfortunately people are having issues with it. I think it looks like a great device. I'm already seeing them for sale as low as $300 though. Its really a shame I thought this would be another good addition to the "G" line of phones for T-mobile.
I think some of the steam got taken from it when the Sensation 4G was announced as well.
If someone offered me one for my G2 I'd probably give it a whirl. I definitely don't think its a big downgrade or anything like that.

Build quality on the devices is amazing though. The screens used in them IMO not so great, but they are pretty sturdy phones, especially the 4g, so if the 4g slide is anything like the 4g as far as build quality then I'd get one, I'm not THAT much of a fan of the design, but it's a good upgrade from a G2 I think. Dual Core 1.2ghz and once it's rooted and we get CM7 running on it, it's going to be a badass phone. I definitely see the improvement over a single core phone when I used my G2x, even my Nexus S OC'd to 1.3ghz wasn't as smooth as my G2x, so I'm definitely eyeing that 4g slide.

Well I kinda got confused about it not having a keyboard. The G1 and G2 had keyboards, then all of a sudden they come out with the G2x from a different manufacturer with no keyboard. Idk.
LG hardware isn't the best, and I guess that's reflected in the current going sales price.
Having held the g2x I REALLY like the hardware, software is what is killing this thing.

My phone got stolen and I just realized the g2 is discontinued. My sisters galaxy s got stolen too but got a galaxy s4g. But for me... what I am going to get? What would tmobile consider an equal phone? Thanks guys
They have plenty of refurb G2's to give out still. Discontinued just means they aren't selling them new anymore.

you can find a brand new G2 on ebay still sealed in the box, not refurb but brand new, just have to keep your eyes open.

It makes no difference anyway, it is trivial to change the IMEI once its been gfree'd.
Next time, install the app called Prey - it is like Lojack for your phone - it will use GPS, text records, calling patterns and even the phone's camera to quickly locate your phone and then you can go over and pick it up from the thieves with the police with you and they will take the bad guys to jail!
That makes no sense AT ALL.

ummmm..... not really - the DOUBLESHOT (myTouch 4G slide) is a good phone, but it's no G2 - it's made cheaper and less elegant than the G2 (cost savings) and has more bloat, so not really faster in real life, it's actually slower! - and it has worse battery life, and more megapixels doesn't mean a better camera, and with the tiny sensor that these phones have, anything over 5 megapix is a WORSE camera.
and the G2 has much better developer support here on XDA - I wouldn't trade my new G2 for a new DOUBLESHOT
ever wonder why the G2 has a substantially higher user rating than the DOUBLESHOT on both GSM arena & phonescoop?
Yup I've tried the double shot and like I said I rather have the g2 refub or if they offer me the doubleshot or the sidekick I can wait a week or two, save up and buy a new in box on ebay or maybe a used one in good shape or upgrade to a slate like the gs2
the reviews says it all it has a dualcore yes but is much slower than any other dual core out there and frankly like others said the my line sucks, it is made cheaply, feels cheap on the hand, and with sense bs, even worse, and the developement is just starting too, and I'm too used to cyanogen goodness, also to me fron facing camera is something I wouldn't use really, I'm not obsessed with my self to take pics every 5 seconds or ever video chat on my phone. Lol
F that your rooted next time install cerberus!
Not familiar wirh cerbelus, that would be like the other apps, also what if they change the sim card? Would still find it?
How about the htc sense? Can we detect our phone if they already change the sim & no using data? If im not mistaken, htc sense only can be use when we using data.

General Thinking about buying used MT4G to bring to Europe...

Hi all.
I am thinking about picking up a solid, older model android phone to bring with me to Germany. I am moving there in a couple weeks and will immediately get a German prepaid sim (probably Simyo).
I have read a ton of good things about the MT4G and I think they run about $150 or so used. Just wanted to hear any opinions on whether or not you think it's a good idea or if I should look into another phone as well.
I would also love some help on what to look for when buying one of these used. I remember reading somewhere that some cpus are better than others. How do I know?
Thanks in advance.
I would look into other phones. But if $150-$200 is your budget, go for the myTouch. If not, I'd try for one of the new HTC One Series (One S, One X, One XL). Very nice phones. Hope this helps you in your decision

Not the best phone on the market, but for a almost 2 year old phone ain't bad at all

[Q] HTC One vs G2 Value

This is an G2 forum so we support G2 obviously. Having said that i am using HTC one currently and have no gripes. But if given a choice i would pick G2 hands down. I did play with the phone in AT&T and Verizon stores and was spell bound. I am dying to buy G2 but waiting for the White color in AT&T. One was a good phone and G2 is a good phone, better features and advanced technology.
To answer your question, it is worth more than $100 that you spend. One has better build but in terms of features not a lot of improvement over previous generation. G2 has the best screen in the market which is a payback for your $100. Screen has a perfect balance of saturation, brightness and sharpness. Features are logically and not gimmicky.

Must be a joke right? Best bang for your buck, let me break down some common sense specs that can be found anywhere for ya:
HTC = Snap Dragon 600 device
G2 = Snap Dragon 800 device
HTC = 4.7" screen but feels smaller due to huge bezel and chassis
G2 = 5.2" screen that feels like it's on a 4.7" device due to the screen actually being side to side and top to bottom of device and very small bezel
HTC = Crap 4mp camera (proven crap)
G2 = 13mp camera proven to be one of the best out android wise. Only downfall so far is slow shutter speed due to LG's software on the camera app. How to fix this, download a third party camera app like HDR+ and get the full effect out of this camera. Hopefully soon an OTA update will fix this or at least the devs will when this bootloader gets unlocked.
Sum it all up, G2 kills the HTC One on ALL fronts unless you like that flipboard/blink feed crap? BUT i'm sure HTC will have in the next 3-4 months a device with Snap Dragon 800 chip and hopefully a better camera but who knows on screen size. I personally think LG did an amazing job with this screen on this device.
If you can't wait, get the G2 TODAY! If not in a rush, give it a few months, see how the dev community develops on this device and what other companies are coming out with and decide on that. That's where i'm at with it but only due to can't afford the G2 for a few months so will watch and see...

Well between the two devices for me do you want to go backwards in time and get a Snap Dragon 600 device or get the first Snap Dragon 800 device on the market which will be the standard for any new devices coming out as well? I'm not one to go backwards when it comes to buying something "new" so for me it's a no brainer to go the G2 route for what's on the market right now...
Are you serious about the pricing? Of course the G2 is 3 times the price of the one, it just came out! The one, has been out for a while, has old SOC, and it's pretty obvious that price will go down for that phone.

Yes. Considering the S4 is still $130 and is pretty comparable in specs to the HTC One, I am serious about the price. The point of the thread is that the HTC One IS a lower price and comparing what you get for the lower price to what you get with a G2. I realize the G2 will be more and I know that it is increased in performance. What I was asking was whether that increase was really worth it. From what I can tell by what the others say, it does seem like it is worth it.

Let me try to be unbiased for a second (proud G2 owner)
Specs aside, it really comes down to your needs. Coming from a TBolt, either one of these phones are going to feel like you just magically jumped the space/time continuum and ended up in the future.
It sounds based on your questions, you've yet to play with either device in person and I highly suggest you do so. I guarantee it'll make the decision for you on the spot.
Let me say that the HTC One is hands down the sexiest cell phone I have ever held. The metal body is luxurious and a joy to hold in you palm. On the flip side, the screen on the G2 is intoxicating. I catch myself staring at in disbelief at how "perfect" it is.
So go pick up the devices and pick the one that fits YOU the best. Either way you'll be very happy.

Did you see this in store or online somewhere?
Went and played with the device. Loved the G2. Looks like I am going to be the new owner of one shortly. Can anyone confirm the costco price? I don't have one near me and the website doesn't list it yet. I could always get a family member to buy it and send it out to me if it is truly that low.
