[Q] Will CyanogenMod 9 [ICS] on Fascinate be far behind like CM7 - Fascinate General

Does anyone know if a stable CM9 for Fascinate will be released far behind the release for other phones? Similar to CM7? Or will stable builds be released at the same time for all CM supported devices?

Personally I think the version we have now is pretty stable. As they add their tweaks and settings well get them. Either through jt or a Kang from someone.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk

It shouldn't. The reason CM7 took awhile was because a Fascinate version was created from the bottom up. Now that they have a base, CM9 should be out as quickly as any other phone.

Well apparently we don't have JT anymore either.....he won a contest on RootzWiki and got a Galaxy Nexus....so if what I've heard is correct....we probably won't be seeing fascinate development from him anymore (hopefully I'm wrong)

This was covered back when he actually won the nexus. IIRC, he's not stopping development for the fascinate.

Will there eventually be any roms that get rid of the webtop stuff all together? I have played around with it a bit and ultimately found it to be worthless and haven't used it since.
I want vanilla android! It sucks that is so much to ask for in this market. (I had Nexus S but cannot live with t-mo.
I'm sure there are devs working on porting ROMs such as CM7 or AOSP. Patience is key right now. I know some CM devs are receiving some Atrixes.
Give it a few weeks. ROMs don't appear over night.
Hopefully man I just want pure 100% android

Me too. I could care less about CyanogenMod. I want PURE ANDROID!!
I just want my Tegra 2 dual core phone to HANDLE LIVE WALLPAPERS.
I also want the WIFI to work (stopped detecting WiFi altogether)
Will be posible to port any variant of Honeycomb? Honey can handle the DualCore module, is AOSP and has HighRes. I think it will be better than any 2.x.x. Motorola Xoom has a very similar hardware so I don't think that it's imposble, but all you are the genius here

Multicore works perfectly fine in the current version of Android on the Atrix, as well as Gingerbread. Honeycomb will not be backported. Look forward to Ice Cream Sandwich instead, which is the "new hotness" I guess you could say.
If you want better multicore support, look to the app developers to add it into their apps. Android can run multicore but without support in the app, as I understand it, it won't use both cores. I am sure someone else with more knowledge about the underlying structure of Android could shed better light on the subject.
Honestly, where does this misinformation stem from?

Gingerbread

Was the 4g front facing camera and keyboard worth not getting gingerbread? Once you guys get cyanogenmod doors open. Ive been apart of the fascinate testing for the past year. The epic 4g's time will come, have patience. You guys are lucky you got 4g and I don't

Guess that's a subtle taunt eh? Well, to very roughly paraphrase Winston Churchill:
Very soon we will wake up with Gingerbread on our phones, but you will never have 4g, a front facing camera or a keyboard on your fascinate.

Is being part of cm worth the not working backcam and other pitfalls?
The vibrant cm has almostthe same limitations as the epic cm. What's stopping us from being on the cm tree, again?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
I don't use the front camera and 4G has never really worked for me on this phone. Gingerbread is incredibly buggy still... I'm going back to EC05
I have been running Gingerbread on my Epic since the first leak and never looked back. Been enjoying Netflix and working native email app tremendously. EG22 is great. I can't wait for the next leak...should be awesome.

I think I finally understand. Sammy had to put a lot of custom code to get things to work, and the devs need all this custom code to rewrite them to putthem into AOSP compliance instead of just writing from the ground up
Is that why?

Yep. That my understanding too.

Ice cream sandwich released Oct or Nov

Anyone see this article? Think we would get some options for fascinate with this? Also rumor has it that when this is released they are going to release the kernel source code for gingerbread which would make the custom roms that much better. Can't wait to see what we got. I'd post this in development section but I don't have rights there yet.

I don't understand the point of this thread. All Eric Shdmidt said was that ICS would be released October/November. Not sure where your getting your rumours from, and we don't know if ICS will be avaliable officially or unofficially for other phones.

Phew!! you should consider yourself lucky you didn't post this in dev.... The source for gingerbread mesmerize kernel has been out for a week. And some changes/fixes have already been implemented in some stuff. Mainly mtd roms.
good day.
Well I did say fascinate which I know the kernel hasn't been released yet cause there is not an official Verizon gb rom.

It seems you haven't been around long. But on the VZW fascinate the kernel is identical to the uscc mesmerize. So when the mesmerize got froyo and kernel source was released we had fun custom kernels on the facinate based off of ec10. And when the vzw fascinate kernel source was finally released. No one made a kernel off of it because it was the same code. Now we find history is repeating itself. Mesmerize get upgrade (gingerbread), source released, and devs for fascinate use source to fix things and make kernels for the vzw facinate.
good day.

whats messed up is vibrant & Captivate has same specs??? SO WTF SAMMY
maybe cuz these phones are gsm ones. and closer to the international one.
These are not official Samsung builds, these are builds by Team ICSSGS. They are basically pure vanilla builds with no additional software or modifications, except for a few to get them to work on the listed devices. Thus no Touchwiz.. IIRC, Team ICSSGS began this project in November and have had these 3 phones with ICS since January.
nvm already been stated.
If your on XDA then you know we have ICS, so who cares? Even better it's cm9. Even better Marcusant keeps kanging other ICS based builds through it.

in what ways would this help or benefit us just curious is all? is it less aggresive TW so that we have more RAM? but seeing how we already have AOSP isn't that much smaller than TW already?
Honestly, I don't think the ram in the epic is enough for CM9, it just barely gets by IMO, so tw? Sorry but no, too bloated. Even the processor has a hard time keeping up with cm9, all that TW bloat would cripple it.
And yes, I still have my epic, and I carry it around everywhere. Just permanently in airplane mode lol.
