HTC Magic Help - Cannot recover from failed ROM initialization

Hi Everyone
I must apologize if this is a annoying beginner question but I have a problem with my HTC Magic.
I attempted to load the Fatality Hero ROM onto my HTC Magic phone. I already had the daldroid ROM running on it but wanted to try out the Hero ROM. I followed the procedure as described by individuals on the web (and I have done it before to get the daldroid ROM working). The phone was working fine with adb. I followed the following steps:
- I Selected ‘Nandroid Backup 2.1′ from the menu.
- Then selected ‘Wipe Data/factory reset’.
- Then ‘Apply sdcard:update.zip’. (The update.zip file was the fatality Hero ROM)
- I then selected ‘reboot system now’.
The phone went to the flash screen and got stuck there very very long. I then went back to flashboot but now the phone does not show up on adb devices list. This was when I just used adb to load the new ROM.
What can I do to get back into my phone? I can see fastboot and hboot. I just cant use adb anymore
This is what is displayed in fastboot:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.0009 (SAP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-3.22.20.17
Please is there anyone that can help me? And sorry if this is a obvious problem but I cant find a solution anywhere.

Sorry for the double post. An update on my situation.
I tried getting everything working in UBUNTU and the system still picks up the phone with a strange device id (not the 0bb4: 0c02 or 0bb4: 0c03 everyone refer to but a device id 0bb4: 0fff) and it still does not show up in the adb device list.
I have tried getting it to work on 3 different windows machines and 1 linux machine and no love. Is there anyone out there that can help me with this?

[help please] MyTouch 3G issue

I am attempting to root a mytouch 3G 2.1 (w/ the headphone jack)
I followed the directions from theunlockr
got my goldcard working (according to the link on that page that tells you how)
After flashing the sappimg file on that page, I still had touch screen. (the site said I wouldn't)
and when I got to step 7 - the step about flashing through fastboot - I got the error "(remote: not allow)"
I flashed the attached file and got the same error.
I searched some more and found a supposed fix I downloaded the first and tried it, got "model ID incorrect! Update Fail!"
At this point, my phone would not show up in adb, but it would in fastboot, and it would boot to the login to google screen (didnt bother logging in earlier)
Tried the second one, same error.
Reset the device, booted fine. Restarted into fast boot, it is recognized, but still getting error "(remote: not allow)". Still not showing in adb.
My phone currently says:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0013 (SAPP31000)
CPLD-13
RADIO-2.22.23.02
so my phone works, but it is not rooted and I still have the stock recovery. If I could get Amon_ra on it I feel comfortable with doing the updates through recovery.
And if I understand it correctly, this root is like a droid, caused by the ROM and not actually part of the stock ROM, correct?
I've done 4 g-1 and a droid in less than 3 hours each, but I've been at this all day.
Help! What can I try?

Ok, So I will document as I go, so either someome can help me at some point or I can help someone else if they have the same problem.
Redownloaded the sapping file (through the cyan wiki)
Reformated my goldcard through phone.
used a sd card adapter and HxD to put goldcard back on sdcard.
transfered new sapping file to sd card
booted in bootloader, got "Model ID Incorrect" Update failed.
I do have the three skating androids though... is that stock?
I will try rebooting my computer, maybe windows is being stupid...
Rebooted, Windows is not seeing the phone. Neither is the HTC sync thing, and neither is adb
Changed USB ports, uninstalled unknown device, changed usb ports again,
ADB recognized it (not in bootloader mode)
ok, found another site with adb commands. forums .tmonews. com /index. php? topic= 10412 .0;wap2
did a google search for "vodaphone sappimg", came up with a forum post on here, downloaded it to my goldcard, still get model ID incorrect.
so I started over from the beginning using cyan instructions. update failed again.
No idea what is going on!

Hboot and AlphaRev X and Unrevoked issue

I recently followed all the instructions on how to put a new ROM on my wildfire, but,ive done all the android usb driver installations and ive opened up unrevoked and alpharev x and its still not picking up my phone,ive turned it to debug mode and still nothing,please help

pls search.
u should not use unrevoked here.
[Exit all the applications that use usb debugging from ur pc and phone. Like htc sync and others like tethering apps. etc...,] Better if u uninstall htc sync.
Follow this guide (and also try first if u have hboot 1.01.0002)

htc sappher messed up bad

hows it me again well i need some expert help for another htc sappher from my freind and its realy bad , he's flashed a rom and messed up everything dont know how though.
no recovery and the Hboot is S_ON
i cant flash a new rom or SPL cause theres no recovery and becouse i got s_on i cant use that to flash anything so im stuck and i need help.

well im set up with adb and now the only problem i have is that the phone is on a read only system any ideas on how i can change or get around it?

Turn phone off. Turn on by pressing Back + Power (it's fastboot mode). Write here first 5 rows. All symbols are important.
In fastboot-mode check command:
fastboot devices (it it would return serial number - connection is fine)
p.s. You can find fastboot.exe in Android SDK Tools package

As you have 32A Magic, you can upgrade to new hboot/radio combination, then downgrade (if you want)

p.s. Goldcard is important (without it you can not process through upgrade)

So the problem i got is that theres no goldcard?
How would flashing another rom help me i cant flash it with no recovery.
I have fastbootcomander but i cant use that couse of s on, and i cant push any files there adb couse its on a ready only file mod.

OMG . There are too many problems together...
Ok. Try to understand what can happen...
1.
You need create goldcard. Search for kingston or transcend sd-card. Make goldcard from it. You can use any Android-phone from HTC. You can ask friends.
2.
I think that problem "no sdcard detection" depends on radio stuck. But when you will run RUU - it does not use sdcard at first step (probably). RUU will try change phone into RUU-mode to flash images.
But. Even if RUU would flash new hboot and radio, it might stuck when flashing ROM (system image), cause at this moment RUU compares CID from phone with CIDs from ROM. Different CIDs will get error and phone will stuck at RUU-mode.

I see ,ill make a goldcard and flash the ruu and see what happens. Thanks alot bud for your help ill keep it updated if all gose well

my sdcard is 32FAT formated.
this sucks , ruu is having problems with the usb connection and i got no recovery still ofcoruse and bootloader is s_on H.
3.39am ish so tired.
need more guidince from a expert.

1. Solve it. Install Htc Sync, it has drivers. The best configuration - have 32bit Windows XP.
2. Additionaly, you can boot into fastboot-mode (back + power), then run Ruu. But drivers are more important.
P.s. in rare cases there are problems with usb-cable (when it is not stock), or with usb-port (rear usb-port 2.0 is preffered).

Ok I flashed the ruu Rom ,what's the next step to getting s_off .
Iv tried to use the acs supertool but my spl is not supported. I'll give you the full details when iv got time but that's the news so far

'Shell root' is enough
If not - you should flash RUU 3.05.401.1 (that has su already)

Can't install any rom on ny Magic, please help

Hi.
I have an 32A HTC Magic.
I don't know what got wrong but I have NO working ROM on my device.
I have Amon Ra 1.6.2, SPL-OFF, Can get into recovery, can get into Fastboot mode.
Tried flashing some ROMs (they installed 100% completely) but when I reboot the logo just shows "htc MAGIC" and nothing happens.
Please what should I try to do?

Okay, the thing is:
I can get into the Fastboot screen, but cant get into Fastboot USB mode. So no way of sending ADB commands from my laptop.
Also, no way to get into HBOOT. Even from the Fastboot screen, pressing VOL DOWN doesn't do anything.
What the heck do I do? (

It can be caused by stucked buttons.
Tear down the phone
Clean parts
Assemble all back
p.s. Please post spl-info (first 5 rows in fastboot screen) to avoid software incompatability

Okay, got into HBOOT finally. I then tried flashed the sappimg.zip - but half way through it said invalid model id.
Now I don't have Amon Ra recover, and Fastboot looks like this now:

Cause Im a bit stupid I guess ...
One thing though, I can't even get my computer to recognize my Magic.
Nothing happens when I plug it to the USB port. Not showing up in Device Manager.
I have tried two mini USB cables, same thing.
Guess Im totally screwed?

It is driver-related issue.
You need explore Windows Device Manager (My computer (right click) / Manage / Device Manager)
There must be Android USB Devices in tree.
You can also install USBDEVIEW

p.s.
1. adb must return serial number when phone in normal state after command "adb devies"
2. fastboot must return serial number only in fastboot-mode after command "fastboot devices"
If you see serial number - no problem with adb/fastboot

Have you ever tried the "RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Chunghwa"
(in Traditional Chinese/English)
You just need to connect your phone with PC, turn on the phone with back+power, and then execute the "RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Chunghwa" on PC.
I remember that Sapphire_HTC_Chunghwa will help you with all the radio/SPL/ROM directly back to the Android 1.5 stock.

Just note, but not all phones are Taiwanese Chungwa. Installing ROM for another region (mismatching by CID) will raise "cid error" and half-brick.
