[Q] Manual OTA? Alltel - Milestone X - Roaming - 4.5.604 gingerbread - Droid X General

Hello everyone,
I have a Milestone X on Alltel bought in Georgia and I am currently in school in Florida. I noticed that there was finally an official update to Gingerbread from Alltel the other day but I can't access system updates (or *228) while I'm in Florida because I am roaming/half-roaming (the famous flashing triangle). The "system update" option is greyed out as long as I'm in a roaming region and it would take more than half a tank of gas to enter a non -roaming location.
Will it be possible for me to force an update to 4.5.604.MB809.ACG-Alltel.en manually from a roaming network or download the update off the internet and install it/flash it on my phone manually?
I am not running a custom firmware but I am currently rooted. I rooted it the hardway (good ol' adb).
Thank you for any help you can provide.

[Q] Use unlock code in 2.3.3

Hi guys,
I got my unlock code from my provider but couldn't get in to the menu (2945#*540#); it insists that there are no mobile networks available. This may be because I recently switched provider, thinking I had already locked the phone, and now I cannot access any mobile network.
However, I have also rooted the phone and am running 2.3.3... I wonder if this would have any effect? I recall that the above access code was used as part of the original rooting process when the phone came packaged with 1.6.
I could go back to the official 2.1 release but have so many custom settings I'd prefer a different option
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Defy No Data Signal after CM7.1 Stable

Hello All,
I'm one day new to Android, but deep in WinMo (formerly here) and iPhones.
I Rooted using SuperOneClick and all went well.
Installed 2init, all good.
Flashed CM7.1 Stable
Now I have no data service. I went ahead and saw the baseband selector and I selected Argentina, I'm in the Dominican Republic, but it's the same frequencies (850/1900) and nothing.
Please help.

Hello! Sometimes, same frequencies means nothing in Baseband switcher. I think you have to check all the frequencies and options until you find the correct one.
Greetings!
Try all the basebands until it works
Motorola Defy CM7 RC 1.5 OC 1GHz
Tried China ME722 1.10 (850/1900/2100) No Good Either
Australia Telstra 2.26.0 (850/2100) got EDGE, atleast.
I have been trying all of them, and only get EDGE. When I tried Argentina Claro, I got 3G but only for like 5 seconds then the entire signal was lost. Gonna keep searching.
Well, It all Failed No 3G
I even had a live chat with Motorola and they confirmed that my IMEI matches the sticker on my box, the bands are correct for my networks etc, so I guess my only option is to flash my phone back to factory and send the phone for replacement: It's two days old.

Can Someone link me or tell me how to revert CM7.1 to Original 2.2 firmware that came with my phone? Is there a way from me reading the label on the box to put the original firmware back and even "un-root" the phone?

You have to flash a SBF. It's the only way to have an original firmware again and un-root the phone. You should check this and choose a SBF file. Also, if you are lucky, you can find the original SBF file of your provider on Google.

[Q] How to use EDGE network mode Sprint S4 ??

the phone uses HSPA+ which well if you are a pre-paid customer in a 3rd world country find it hard to manage. it chews up all my airtime within a minute or two, so i went custom. installed Omni ROM 4.4.4 and found that GSM Only radio button, which is missing in the official NG2 4.4.2 ROM. then i did sth wrong and had to flash the official ROM again but look, it retained the settings from the omni rom. that's when i discovered it had the icon for E. so am guessing there's a work around without having me to flash a custom rom, or is there not?? Please Help!!

Seeking some assistance updating an unlocked (And out of US) G892A from stock

Hello Folks,
As the thread title states, I'm looking for a way to update to the current firmware from stock (G892AUCU1AQG4) - I bought the device a few days after it came out and promptly unlocked it and took it to Canada - OTA Updates are obviously disabled as I'm not on AT&T and there's no indication of a manual update method via USB on AT&T's support pages. Any chance someone has pulled ODIN files for all of the updates (As they seem to be building off of one another, indicating it's basically a nesting doll scenario where I assume I'll need to run update after update in sequence)? Or is there another way to go about this that doesn't involve going stateside and buying a sim and plan?
Did some searching and found a few threads with links or references to the stock files, but didn't see any means to update from stock to current (Or even just the first 8.0 variant)
Cheers and thanks in advance if anyone can save my Canadian bacon.
Edit for background information: I've tried forcing an update via SmartSwitch (RIP Kies) but it says the device is up to date, making me think it's also just checking for an OTA update, but given there's no update available on my wireless network it just dead ends.
