[Q] Use unlock code in 2.3.3 - GT540 Optimus General

Hi guys,
I got my unlock code from my provider but couldn't get in to the menu (2945#*540#); it insists that there are no mobile networks available. This may be because I recently switched provider, thinking I had already locked the phone, and now I cannot access any mobile network.
However, I have also rooted the phone and am running 2.3.3... I wonder if this would have any effect? I recall that the above access code was used as part of the original rooting process when the phone came packaged with 1.6.
I could go back to the official 2.1 release but have so many custom settings I'd prefer a different option
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Q] flashing orange branded tab

..hi..
..came here as i own a sgt for three weeks and this forum has provided great help for me in getting to know my device better and better..
..i am thinking of flashing my sgt to the most recent euro firmware, BUT it is
1) orange branded (purchased in austria/europe)
2) has fw BVJI3/BVJJ2 installed
3) and typing in the appropriate code it tells me that it is not network locked or sim locked..
..is it possible to flash this sgt to a newer fw-version (would i lose the branding..?..fine....) or do i have to be aware as it is running some kind of provider specific fw now (i suppose)..can i change from a provider specific fw to any other newer fw..?
..right from the factory i missed the music hub and the readers hub which i have installed now..they are working (but i miss zinio..tells me that the service is coming soon..and i miss the news..tells me the same)..which is one of the reasons i want to flash..
..have been trying to update the fw via kies but it says that the device cannot be updated (so i suppose there is no official update for it right now)..
..been reading a lot at sam-fw, but have not been able to get an answer to this until now..
..any help highly appreciated..thx a lot..
..hmm..no idea anyone..?....
..just a small *bump*..
It is no problem. I flashed mine (Orange Austria) to P1000XXJM6 and no problem.
But you need to manually set the connection to Internet (APN etc.) as well as MMS.
Just one request: before flashing could you dump the rom? I did not make this and would like to have a copy just in case I want to revert it back to its original state.

[Q] a501 sim unlock without code possible?

It's a Rogers a 501 running randomblame's jellytime build 3(awesome ROM!) with v8 unlocked bootloader and 1.7.3 thor CWM. I was hoping to test the data on this ROM. I've seen I can buy the code and Rogers wants $50 but I would prefer to find a free way of doing it. I unlocked my galaxy s3 by using the *#197328640# into phone. Anyone figure out a way to unlock on this acer a501 tab?

In the past, there has been some success of getting the unlock code, by repeatedly e-mailing Rogers, ATT, or whichever provider you purchased the tablet from.
Typically, those that had success, simply explained they purchased the tablet and currently do not live in the area where the network coverage is. Also, in the beginning, some overseas folks bought the tablet not knowing it was sim locked to a specific network. Of course it took several e-mails, and persistance.
Unfortunately, there is no known way to generate the "unlock code", at least here at XDA. Also, some of the "unlock sites" who claim they can do it, generally can't. Although there was 1 case where the user sent his tablet to them, then got it back a week or so later.
The sim unlock codes are "device specific", which means you can't use another's unlock code.
So your best bet, especially if the tablet is over a year or so old, is to argue your point with Rogers, in a polite way of course. Perhaps they might eventually give the unlock code for free. Always remember to be polite.
Cheers!

Thanks for the info! I will try emailing them and see if I can put on some charm. Too bad tho if you could find the file or get into the device like you can with the Samsung's it would make life so much easier! Also anyone who reads this randomblame's jellytime build 3 is an awesome rom! I have been using it daily and it is incredibly stable working great! Anyone with an a501 should try this out!

Well I have found a site cellunlocker.net who was able to gererate the unlock code. Only problem code not accepted in cm 10.1 so I am going to try and flash the stock ICS a501 and hope it will work on that.
EDIT- just tried this on Acer_AV041_A501_0.001.00_WW_GEN1 (Stock ICS pre-rooted)
With baseband version: Cust:R3C01 Config:R4B01 Conf:R3C01 Protocol:R3B01 App:R3C01
My other option is to downgrade further back to HC bootloader and HC rom. The other issue is I can't find any roms that end in PA_ROG(Rogers based ROMS). My stock 3.2 was ACER_A501_4.042.01_PA_ROG didn't back up but everything I can find to flash ends in COM1. Will I still be able to unlock without actually being on a rogers based ROM? I know I'm going to find out soon but any help is appreciated. If anyone has this rom ACER_A501_4.042.01_PA_ROG you'd make my life much simpler!! Would the skrilax v8 unlocked bootloader have any effect on this or not? Just wondering if going back to honeycomb is really even worth trying especially if I don't have a Rogers based rom to try.

Mate, save yourself some heartache. The AT&T and Rogers tablets came with configurations that are different than the unlocked 501's. The code, as I mentioned before, is based on the IMEI number ( International Mobile Station Equipment Identity) which is independent of the Operating System version.
As with the Bootloader if you were to roll back to an HC Rom, your V8 bootloader would be replaced by a new stock bootloader.
As I said, your best bet would be communication with Rogers, or just save some heartache and pay the $50.

Thank you. So basically it wouldn't matter what rom or bootloader(locked or unlocked) I was on the code would work if I get the right code? I just wouldn't of wanted to pay the $50 and have it not work because of bootloader or rom. I didn't think the ROM you were on would be the issue but I didn't know if the v8 unlocked bootloader could be an issue?

No problem Mate. The sim unlocking debate was looked into well over a year ago or longer. Acer programmed a module that runs independent of the android operating system. A lot of guys bought these tabs while visiting the States, because of it's discounted price at the stores. Just didn't know you had to use an AT&T sim card, which of course you can't get in Europe. The stores of course didn't tell them this when they bought them.
As with the bootloader, it has nothing to do with it. The bootloaders are the same between roms. Only big differences are with the major versions (HC, ICS), so example an AT&T rom uses the same bootloader as the non AT&T rom, same with Rogers. Although they may issues updates with different bootloader.blob's to patch security holes (root vulnerabilities). But generally most HC roms will run with any HC bootloader. Same with ICS. The only exception was the 3.2.1 HC that was never fully published for the 501. It was a bit strange when I did the custom rom for it. Had to install it 2 or 3 times to make it stick But was a smooth running rom.
Wish you luck with getting Rogers to unlock it. Still, I would go with persistent e-mailing higher up their customer service chain first, before shelling out the $50. Especially if you've had their service for over a year.

[Q] installing Tmobile rom to i337

Hi,
Currently I have a i337 galaxy s4 which I am using with tmobile sim card. I made it unlocked by ATT before I switched to tmobile. It has baseband UFNI1 and Android 4.4.2 installed. I managed to get it rooted using the Odin software, so I can use the tethering with the tmobile.
Now I am trying to find a way to use the Wi-Fi calling. I searched it a lot and figured out that I need a tmobile rom installed but it quickly got very confusing. It looks like what you need to do also depends on what android version you are using. For some you need safestrap, change the kernel for some you don't. For some you have Wi-Fi issues and need to change the modem etc.
So, I am trying to find the easiest and safest way that will make the Wi-Fi calling work. I don't necessarily need the very latest android version or the fancy custom roms etc,I only need something that will work without any issues. I am perfectly fine with a tmobile stock Rom if that's the most convenient way.
So,I would really appreciate if someone can help me on this. It would be great to have a set of noob friendly instructions. Thanks a lot.

Hi There,
Were you able to root your device for Wifi Calling. I followed the instructions of http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...nvert-i337-to-m919-wifi-caling-t2896719/page6 and went into the same issue. After TMOBILE stock rom, the phone does not boot. I was able to install the first rom and then able to get onto the latest version and able to use phone again with AT&T latest software update (android 5.0.1). Actually, this is the version I have when I started rooting.
If you find any solution, please let me know as I am on the same boat with you on installing TMOBILE ROM using the other thread.
thanks
Ram
You cannot install a T-Mobile stock ROM to an AT&T device. Samsung has safeguards in place to prevent it. You would need to root and then install a custom ROM, which on an AT&T is difficult to do with its encrypted bootloader.
However, this is not the appropriate location to ask this. Questions related to AT&T devices belong in the AT&T S4 forums.

[Q] Help regarding SM-G900P

Hey everyone, I been looking around the forums here and other sites and have learned a lot of info in pieces but I really need help with a particular issue. A friend of mine gave me a Sprint Galaxy SM-G900P (Galaxy S5) which is (of course) CDMA with GSM compatibility. Im unsure at the moment what service he was wanting to use but I know it is a GSM carrier (US) because he has a SIM he wanted to use. I owe him a favor so I told him I would try. Besides going the route of purchasing a unlock box and unlocking the phone with that, I discovered the SSU apk which SIM-Unlocks the phone. I downgraded the phone from Lollipop 5.0 stock to Android 4.4.2 KitKat (G900PVPU1ANE5) with ODIN. (FYI, i was stuck in download mode with no recovery mode for a week before finally getting one to work, and so happen to be that version that went through)..... I downloaded SSU and it unlocked the phone and I switched mobile network mode from CDMA to GSM Units. (NOTE: it says 4.4.2 and up will not work with USA carrier SIM cards without downgrading the Modem but I have not tried just yet) Im about to Root the phone but here is where my question comes in. I have read of people flashing roms to get their phones to work with certain carriers and other functions. Will rooting help me out at all? I guess IM asking if there is a ROM that I can flash onto the phone to enable the use of whatever carrier he is wanting to use with it. I know thats most likely useful in the situation, but Im awaiting that answer as we type. ANY help would be greatly appreciated ))) Thank you all.
Anyone? :/

[Q] GS5 KDI AU lollipop upgrade lock.

Thank you everybody in advance for the help you may provide.
Please could you help me to understand if i can fix my scl23?
This is the thing.
I got myself a KDI au gs5 scl23 with kitkat 4.4 and as i understand its rooted with a custon recovery, beacaus of the sim unlock, and the recovery its in japanese.
The phone works fine, but when i try to use it on ultra saving mode, its says that it`s samsung account isnt activated and doesnt allow me to change it(in the settings of the phone there isnt a way to change samsung account). So it bugs on that samsung account, and doesnt allow me to use internet and the keyboard when im on the ultra saving mode. By the way i live in Argentina and cant find anyone who speaks Japanese.
So, Trying to fix this samsung account problem i upgraded to lollipop 5.0, but it lock the phone and it doesnt get any antena signal, its says insert a sim, but there is no "no sim" mesage on the mesage board.
And now im dowloading the 4.4 firmaware files to downgrade it to 4.4 and to unlock it whith service menu commands.
Have anyone been able to unlock it with service menu on lollipop, or in any other way? Beacuase lollipop fixes the samsung account problem but olso locks the phone and installs custom AU rom, only in japanese or english laguage.
Thank you very much to everyone.
same here
This is the same thing that happened to me, did you manage to revert back and unlock the simlock on 5.0? Any luck upgrading to 5.0 and using your sim with the device.
cheers

Ended up downloading the 4.4 rom for phone again, installing that. Had to clear cache and do factory data clear to get phone booting again after downgrading. Then I was able to complete the Sim Unlock steps outlined here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/tutorial-unlock-sim-au-kddi-galaxy-s5-t2891992
Super frustrating using a phone like this, as it has so much bloatware from Japan which I just want to get rid of. But up and running now, with several replacement mods for keyboard, messenger etc
A lot of information out there, thank you internet and forums like this one for having so much information to get things working again. :victory:
