Another forum recommended for A4g - Atrix 4G General

just check http://bbs.gfan.com/forum-522-1.html.

Man, i tried turning my phone in every direction but can't read what heck is on that website. Then i thought it was like one of those 3D holograms and called it quits 3 hours ago. Oh well

Addons for Firefox do good job of translating when I get to PC ima take a look
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App

seems a lot more like app development going on there. only found a few roms that clearly state to only (brush) to hong kong version of atrix im assuming brush is flash. sbf was mentioned so no thanks. but interesting

No it is just a Chinese forum, nothing special there, and also it is not an app development site

i know its not app development site but that seems to be there main concern.it just seems like most of the posts were about (software) mostly apps i looked around a bit. agreed nothing special

Idea on fixing the forum posting issue

I have been watching things here start to get a little crazy (atleast in the Hermes thread). I don't have a magic answer, I wish i did. I have been thinking about his for the last three days. Then with JJ, the developer of black for the Hermes, deciding to take his rom to another site, yet to be determined. I started to think about how the ROMs are being supported.
I seems that we need to look support these roms like any software application I've been part of developing in the past. I think we need to look at adding a bug track system. Rather than use the forum for bugs and new releases what do you guys think about using a bug track system for this. This could be used for all kinds of applications.
Lets talk about this and see if the Admins and Mod think that this cold be something that is possible to get integrated into the xda site.

already tried... tried to implement a bug-zilla like site... noobs couldnt figure out and didnt bother using...
So we just give up. Sorry I just not ready to give up like that. We have to learn to educate these users. I agree with a thread I saw under the hermes about making a rule about posts like "DLing now".
never said anything about giving up... y dont you have a chat to the Administrator Peter Poleman...

This Site USED to be ace

This site used to be ace
Now its full of idiots who dont know the answer say they have downloaded things that arent even available because they think its funny
Wasting time with endless pointless posts
Shame how failure comes with mainstream
I do agree at ttimes finding the right answers can be difficult here. But I still think the site is great. There are many helpful folks heree with the knowledge. This is a great community as one learns how to do a certain task from others, he/she then shares the joy. Since you had a bad experience with some of your questions does not mean its the site's problem.
I was a complete noob when it comes to android. I still am, yet this site helped me manage to debtand my phone and root it. It looked very difficultat the beginning but with the how tos i got here, it was no more.
I suggest you look for a better site. But I am 100% sure you can't find one.
And please keep in mind, wildfire is a relatively new device and hence custom ROMs are yet to be cooked.
Good day.

It still IS!
And I can see that you haven't cluttered the board up much since you joined! 3 posts since 2.5 years!

watching Dev's work

I know its kinda weird but I was just wondering does anyone else like "watching" the dev's work, I like going to the custom rom thread and reading the post for fun even tho I hardly know what they're talking about O_O
i often find myself doing the same ... mainly looking for a post saying Custom Roms now possible.
I do the exact same thing

I do the same, I just wish all the people who did watch the tread, only watched and stop asking Devs silly questions.

spent about an hour last night reading trhough most of it lol
I like to follow it as well. Did some basic linux scripting so I know some of the commands here and there but it's all beyond me. Still fun to read though
I read it all the time, I actually have a shortcut directly to the dev section on my X10 and watch it once in a while for updates... To be honest, this phone is keeping me quite entertained (As opposed to my iphone 4 which I got tired of within 2 days)
I read it regularly. I'll be honest and admit I don't understand everything they're talking about (I'd like try and help if I did), but it still makes for an interesting read and keeps my hopes of success up.
Although (or rather because) i used one of the most user-friendly linux distribution (Unbuntu) for some time, i don't have a clue about linux at all. in the beginning i didn't understand a thing, but just reading the thread regularly lets me understand a little bit about what they're talking. A VEERY little bit...
Developes thread is one of the best places to just read and see how they work. Specially when there is a dscussion about new findngs.

Hey guys can someone translate the so far progress on the cynogen mod and stuff thanks?
Also your not the only one, I keep a eye on those threads but don;t fully understand what they mean
very first thing i do when i visit XDA is go right there to dev thread and read ... even though i dont understand a bit ..
Lol, its nice to know I'm not the only one. Its also nice to know that most of are waiting patiently for a custom rom while others moan.

I think that the devs are trying to:
(In order of 'best' approach?)
-Create (or complete) an autobootable bootloader to allow us to run custom roms.
-Run another firmware on top of the current one (but a certain file, (build.prop?) has to remain in place (one of SE's checks, i think). At the moment, the devs seem to be fixing problems one by one, and at the moment the phone doesn't reboot anymore, but there are still some other problems.

[Move To General] What XDA Needs

Ok I love the xda forum but there are some things that tick me off and I feeli should say what I need to say to better this forum
1. XDA needs some sort of live chat service for those who need help and answers quick
2. We need more people with knowledge in rooting and flashing roms on and to anwser questions
3. Better tutorials because these tutorials aren't that straight foward and is a bit difficult make a for dummies.
Post what you think xda needs to do to better this site

3 things I can think of right away:
1. A limit on how big your signature is. I'm so sick of seeing 1 line post and half-page long sig with bunch of worthless info in there (including your last 10 phones, gaming consoles, your cars) and load of meaninless pictures.
2. A waiting period between time when one registers and time when they can post. So many people register, don't read anything and just ask stupid questions over and over again. I'm oficially done holding people's hand to do anything that was walked-through before.
3. A required field with phone info (including bootloader, radio, rom, etc). No more guessing.
Yes, I'm demanding but I really see these forums degrading over the time.

He's not so wrong. I also noticed in the last time, that several times the same question was asked, even if the answer to the question was already given one or two days ago.
In addition it would help much to know, what is already installed on the phone, especially SPL and RADIO. So you can suggest directly some steps, without asking first about the configuration. Probably we can provide a template for the information which should be included within the signature.

OK, we seriously need separate sections...

For the European version, ATT, and VZW versions of this Galaxy Tablet because i don't know what the heck I'm looking at in the Development section anymore. Everything is SO clustered. I have a VZW Tab and trying to find anything in that DEV section is almost impossible. Anyone else agree???
Agreed.

Not the easiest forum to follow for specific tabs/regions.
I agree with this also.
i agree also... there isnt to much development goin on for the vzw tab.. i own a vzw tab my self. but we should have separate sections... hopefully they make it happen both development and a devoted vzw tab section.
You think you have got it hard, I'm confused as hell since I have an Asian Tab. Fffffuuuu. I'm guessing it's similar/identical to the Euro one but I'm not sure, so I haven't really tried flashing anything so far.
I agree as well, maybe with subsections for questions, ROMS, etc as well broken out of those.
Agreed, it's far too messy.
/make it happen.
Very disorderly. And for a nooblit like me almost painful.

maybe in the future i can see a point in sub-sections
but from what ive read (and i aint done any mods to my device yet)
all the roms ect.. are clearly marked which device there for
if you cant find anything for your device thats because its not available 'yet'
the dev section is picking up great so hopefully it wont be long for things to be stable enough for a n00b like me to use, and for different device versions to become available
Sometimes i get confused too but if i got it, most things are common for the tabs and only basebands / modem firmware differs?
Agreed

A little organization goes a long way. Start topics with "VZW CDMA" or "UK GSM" or something similar and 90% of the confusion would go away. Search might work, too. And people can start doing that TOMORROW, not when some organization is imposed.
