Downloading Android

I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, but I really need help here. Is there any possible way that I could directly download an Android rom to my htc hd2 using my usb cord? It is taking a very long time to download to my computer.

I have NO idea what this means.....

I think he mean that he will download the rom´s with the data connection of the HD2 - and not with the PC. And yes it is possible with the right browser^^

Yeah. I am talking about a rom for my phone and by the way, I'm a female.

Download rom to PC,
Phone into magldr
Load cwm
Mount SD
Should now show up as USB drive on PC.
Don't use USB transfer option in magldr, it doesn't work right for bigger files, hence using cwm.

There are a few ways of doing it:
If your home broadband connection is very slow then you could just download the rom on your phone using your data connection **as long as you have a good data contract** I use this way most of the time, and it works quite well.
If you have WiFi, connect your phone to the WiFi and download on phone.
Download it on your PC, if it taking a long time try a different download source...or leave it downloading over night / day / week / month / year....
Then there are options like plug your phone into your computer and download the rom on your phone using your PC's connection too.

look as far downloading is concerned it completely depends on the internet connnction u use but remember before instaling android dont forget read these thread .as it will help u installing android orelse u may end up bricking your phone

[Q] Problems with my new TPT

I just bought my Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet.
And i noticed some problems that if some one could help me i would appreciate.
1)Were can i find the youtube app. At least the most recent one. I cannot find it on the android Market or the lenovo Market.
2) How can I send files to the tablet using the micro usb cable. I use mac an linux machines and it is not recognize. I Noticed that the USB options are not switchable by the user. On windows asks for drivers (which i cannot find by the eway). Is there a way to access the internal memory using micro usb?
3) Is there a way to use a Portuguese keyboard an still have the tablet in English. It seems that it always chose the layout of the keyboard based on the system language.
Hope that some one can help me...

3) i'm using my tablet in english too. using german keyboard layout because i'm german . don't know if it's the same for potuguese but if you go to settings then language & input you can choose the keyboard layout. try it

1) thanks that was just what i was looking for... Does it update via market now that i have it installed?
2) I know these type of applications but for over the air i use ssh. I Intend to copy some large files and that would be easier and faster using the micro usb cable. Do you know a way to do that? My htc desire when i connect it to a pc via usb cable I can teel it what to do (mass storage device, charge only, etc, ...) what to do, but that option is blocked in my tablet.
3) I have to try that tomorrow when i arrive at the office ill give it a try.
By the way how can i change the host name of the tablet?

That is not a very good solution I have 16GB of memory that I would like to use.
And to use the sd card I need to have with me all the time a sd card reader which is not the case.
Every android phone i used and have let me connect the device as a mass storage device. They even let me access the SDcard and internal memory using the micor USB port.
So I suppose that this is possible with lenovo thinkpad but I am missing were or how i can do it...

Is in the settings at the USB-Settings "Transfer files" enabled,
or can you choose it when connected ?
And at accounts&sync is "allow sync with pc" checked ?

mounting the TPT in unix is a bit more tricky. I had to do this last year, I only remember it took some extra work. But here's an experience getting it done in Ubuntu:

That's the tablet-optimized version 3 of the Youtube app. Installed it yesterday and works great on my TPT.

Q: May somebody provide the apk for Youtube (the latest one). The one linked above I think is an older version (3.0.15)
I mistakenly uninstalled the one that came with my TPT without backing it up (I know, stupid!). I think its version was 3.1.1.

Well, you could try downloading the latest US ROM from Lenovo - just unzip it and check the apps folder for the recent version of the Youtube app.

But I haven't found a full stock Rom. All I can find are the OTAs and it seems that the YouTube apn it's not included, or at least I haven't found it.
And the update at the Lenovo app store still gives me the parsing error when downloading...

[HELP!] USB Host not working

Hi everyone
I have a problem with my usb host controller
the tab is not recognizing it anymore
it used to work fine before
I tried the same usb host on another tab & its working with no issues
I installed USB Host Controller from the market & here is the stats showing in the application:
S3C USB host driver NOT found!
Root hub present, USB Host mode is active!
any help would be appreciated

Ok so i have followed this guide to flash the stock firmware hoping that it might solve this issue
no luck ... it is still same as before
i have also noticed that the flashing did not wipe the internal memory
so i did a factory reset which also did nothing for both the usb problem & the internal memory (Strange...)
i really cant seem to locate the thing that's causing this issue

Tried doing a nandroid restore from another tab hoping it might solve this issue
but still not able to recognize the USB
i'm thinking it might have something to do with the partitioning of the tab but there is nothing i can do about it since i couldn't find a pit file for the tab

I come from french and surely I'm not the better englishman of france, but I need you and I try to resolv my problem :=)
I have iconia a500, and go with it in holidays.
In my room, only RJ45 for internet, not WiFi... And my lady NEED internet ^^
That's why I try to use this device.
But, when I try to use it... It doesn't works :=/
I've seen that with taboonay it can works but it's rom for 3.2 and I am in 4.03...

It would be probably better to just buy simplest access point out there and use it as a bridge between ethernet cable and wifi . You don't even need router functionality if the tablet will be the only device used. Just buy AP, configure it and just connect the cable to the RJ45 socket and voila.
You will probably need to connect AP to the PC with a cable to configure it but you need to do this only once. You need to configure the wifi name and security (preferably WPA2 PSK).

With USB analyser software (or application), I can see one information about my LAN adaptator... But it doesn't works when I try to use it.
I don't know if one other kernel can help me or if it's with other custom ROM...

Try the following:
Reboot the tablet (do not connect ethernet adapter yet)
In the terminal emulator display run dmesg (you can dump it with dmesg > /sdcard/dmesg1.txt for comparison)
Connect adapter
Run dmesg again and check for differences at the end (dump it with dmesg > /sdcard/dmesg2.txt and then compare both files).
This will tell if the kernel itself is recognizing the device properly as a networking device. If it doesn't then you need different kernel or kernel module for the current one for this device.
If the device is recognized and the proper kernel module is loaded and still no connectivity then one of the following can be true:
The device doesn't send request to acquire IP from DHCP (dhcp client in the rom not configured to support other devices than the built-in ones).
The device receives the IP, but the routing is not being set so the connection is not set as a default route.
The Android itself doesn't recognize the new interface and apps cannot start the connection using Android API (OS thinks it is offline).
Unfortunatelly I don't know much about how the networking on the application level works in Android and I don't have any USB ethernet adapter to do some tesing myself. I would need to ask some friends if they have one.

We can see that android see usb device.
But, when i made <ifconfig>, i can see only the wlan0 interface, no eth0 or other...

No, you don't mount network devices .
It seems that the tablet is not loading any kernel module for this device. I've done some searching and this device requires usbnet and asix modules to be loaded. I have checked if I have those module in my a500 (running CM9) and I don't have any of them.
I think that you would need to build your own kernel with proper modules to gain support for this adapter.

I'm sorry but my knowledge about compiling kernels is limited to PC Linux. I've never crosscompiled kernels for ARM architecture. It shouldn't be that hard. I think that you will need the Android SDK to do that. Search the dev forum.
I've been thinking about the module itself and you probably don't even need to compile whole kernel. You just need the kernel header files for the kernel you are using and you can probably compile the module alone and then just copy it to device. But you need to ask someone that is more knowledgable in this area than me.

[Q] Connect External WiFi Adapter

Hello everyone!
Since i got my nexus 4 i started 'playing' with it. I have tried many things, flashed many roms etc. I need your help for something now. I have an awus036h and i want to connect it to my phone. I have tried one app, Wifi Pcap Capture to see if my phone can see it and it could (for a few seconds). I need to know what (and how) can I do to connect the adapter to my phone. I have an otg (Y) cable and i can connect my external hdd to my phone without any problem (I have all the hardware needed). I know, it's not easy but if you could help i would be grateful.
