Have you got Windows Mobile Device Center installed on your PC? If not then install it.
@Nigeldg..you cant run activesync without windows mobile centre...can you?
Ok maybe I need to add that Im doing this from a Win Xp Pc...so it has windows active sync
Anybody with advice please?
It may be a cable problem. Try another cable.
That's because hspl is installed from the radio screen.
Power down phone.
Press &hold volume down + end key
Your phone boots into tri color screen.
Now flash hspl.
I have written a step by step guide if you need more help.

@kylew1212...when I do that it starts with the tri color screen the the screen goes white and the mesage "loading......" comes up and stays like that forever....
Next thing I dont understand because maybe Im not that technical minded...what does it mean to " flash hspl" in normal english?
Only press volume down AND keep holding hit, and boot the device.
flash hspl means "double click on the HSPL4 package, run as admin, next, select 2.08 HSPL, next, next, wait, finish .... you are done and your phone will now reboot."

Depends entirely on your preference. The three main types of ROM are CM7, MIUI and Sense. Sense has the best eye candy and UI (in my opinion) but has low performance, CM7 is fast and stable, and I've never used MIUI cos I'm happy with CM7. However if you don't need gingerbread, Froyo with sense is brilliant.

I am busy downloading Ice Cream Sandwhich , what do you think of that ROM, and is it easy to remove and try a diffrent ROM?

ICS is still in beta, but is pretty impressive already. If you want a full working and stable rom however, then you should stick with gingerbread.

I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but it literally means: "boot MAGLDR , go to the option "USB Flasher", connect your phone to your pc and then run the file you downloaded earlier (the predefined recovery)."

Flash via recovery is: Boot MAGLDR, then choose AD Recovery, and then "install zip from sd" or something like that, pick your rom from the list, hit "yes", and wait for it to finish.
If you want to know what Recovery (a.k.a cwm or cwr or clockworkmod recovery) and MAGLDR are, you need to do a little bit hard reading over here.
Thanks for your patients Marvlesz
Miui roms are good. However I don't know much about them. They text messaging is really nice though.
If your going to use ice cream sandwich you need to be using clk instead of magldr.. ICS (ice cream sandwich) is still beta, and magldr currently has more problems than clk.
If you don't understand how to use clk I've written a guide Here
Magldr is good, especially for other roms but clk is better for ics..

Okay, everyone having problems seems to be steming from the same issues. One of the biggest seems to be: not reading. I read through about 22 pages, and kept seeing the same questions, most that had been answered.
Before you do anything, boot up winmo. Make sure you are at 2.80 HSPL. If you are not, download and flash it. Next make sure the winmo rom you have supports the 576mb rom. Most wont say if they do. If you arent 100% sure, search for one and flash it. I was using a dexter build, and everything worked flawless for me.
Once everything is in place, load up the winmo rom, and connect the phone to your cpu and activate winmo sync. After downloading MAGLDR to your cpu desktop, make sure the phone is still connected and in sync mode. Run DAF.exe. Let the program run through. After successful install, it will reboot into MAGLDR.
The volume rocker is up/down. Send/Green=Select/Enter. Home=Back. To load up your old android sd build go to settings and tell MAGLDR where the build is located. Note: There is an issue with loading sd builds, so most will not run correctly, if at all.
Now its time to install an Android NAND build. I used DFT's stock android build. Download it. Disconnect phone from cpu. Run the #4 option in MAGLDR by using the volume key and send/green. Run the rom update utility on the pc. When its says searching for usb, plug in the phone, and installation should continue. When its done, it should reboot and load into NAND Android.
If anything fails, start from square one. Install a stock shipped winmo rom. This will overwrite nand and HSPL. So your old NAND Android rom will be replaced, as well as your old HSPL. Re-flash the HSPL3 and continue.
Things to take note of: MAGLDR installs after the second nand check. Meaning you can change the first splash screen, not the others. I'm on US TMO HTC HD2 1024, and everything works perfectly. If you have robot voice, activate and deavtivate speaker phone, it should work. If not, reboot phone, and let it sit for about 10 minutes and it should work fine. AFter installation to retuen to MAGLDR hold the power button when turning the device on. Most importantly: READ. People arent answering your questions because they have probably already been asked and answered multiple times.
Also, see MAGLDR.nbh's posts (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5848003&postcount=19) about MTTY and task29. It seems to have helped alot of people having more cpu os dependant issues.
This wont help people with the stuck on go go go problem.

I understand you're trying to help people, but at least try not to feed them wrong information with typos and what not.
2.08 HSPL, not 2.80.
You're going to have new flashers pulling out their hair looking for a non existent HSPL.

Hi gang,
I keep on receiving this inane error message: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (723).
I have downloaded and loaded hspl3, magldr 1.11 and dft android.
I have done these 3 steps to no avail.
1. hspl3
2. magldr
3. dft android
I'm not desperate by any means -- more so curious and I favor Android over Win Mo.
What are my odds of someone composing a thorough walkthrough? I figure i'm missing something or doing something out of step.
Please assist XDA community. =)

If you have a NAND Android ROM, you have MAGLDR installed on your device.
Just go into the MAGLDR screen and flash the WP7 ROM of your choice via USB.
If you run Android from SD card, WinMo still your core OS, you first need to install some other stuff (make sure to have a correct Radio ROM, HSPL 2.08 and finally MAGLDR).
Also, for a smooth WP7 operation, please check your SD card, if it´s one of the critical ones, you might have a bad experience.

6] Message on bottom status bar of phone identifying the phone

To flash from MAGLDR screen, you should not go into the standard bootloader screen (the tricolor one), but MAGLDR itself. After turning off your device, keep holding the power button, until you get the MAGLDR screen, select option 5 (flip through with volume buttons, confirm with phone button), and there you go.

You need to install MAGDLR by following the steps above to connect to your PC. Then restart your phone while holding the POWER button, which will get you into the MAGLDR options menu. Select option 5 with volume up/down and bottom left key.
thanks guys
OMG you flash it through MAGLDR, not BOOTLOADER.
First what you have to do is check whether your MAGLDR version is 1.12 or 1.13(recommended) if you want to install WP7, if not, flash it first and then enter USB Flasher in bootloader and run DWI.exe.
Thank u friends. I did it. Installed WP7. worked fine except the live services. Too much of a pain to activate live services on HD2. Not worth the efforts. Do we have key gen or a simple process? I just needed the gtalk. Have switched back to gingerbread.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Nope, there ain´t no keygen.
My own efforts actually were minimal: I sent an email to MS support, couple of hours later I had my activation code.
Look for .xap for gtalk and sideload it... I have an activation key but since there's a limit to each key on the number of activation. I'd rather have the .xap of the apps I use then like that I can use wp7 without live services... Because I know ima be switching between os's
@OP,
Please read the sticky guides in future before asking questions, there are MANY good guides on how to do everything, all you have to do is look at the sticky threads.

Before I start I googled and tried methods I could and all failed.
My phone was working Link Hereperfect with no issues I had installed the DFT LEO Stock Desire NAND Rom.
A week ago it died and I charged it and powered it back up and got the white screen. It wouldnt go away until I pushed the yellow button on the back. Problem solve I would think.
Two days ago on my way to San Francisco it restarted and turned white. I tried all methods I found here and google none work. when I hold the down vol button I do get the 3 color screen and thats it. I attached an picture of what my phone says.

Then ok, thanks. Ask for a sticky.

If you're boy's phone can only boot in the first level loader... I think a week-end if long enough to make extensive trouble shooting
Ok, I agree I'm not nice... it's just to make you realize that if you want to ask someting... then ask, no need to make us imagine the question you may want someone to answer.
My question is how do I get this fixed? How do I get android back up and running. I want to get rid of this white screen.

What was the version of MAGLDR you had anyway? The ROM you are/were running is outdated by today's standards anyway.
I would do a task29 and start over. Then flash MAGLDR 1.3, CWM 1.3 and then a new ROM.

If you get bootloader simply flash a stock WM rom or MAGLDR, whats hard about that?
i tried flashing with task29 but it sticks at 0%
Do not use task29 for your problem. Fortunatly it doesn't "clear" the first level bootloader.
Press the vol-down key.
In boot loader, flash:
a/ a WM6 ROM (to do this you can just put a LEOIMG.nhh on the root of your SD)
b/ MAGLDR (the version you need for the build you want)
If you want to put a DFT build. In MAGLDR (so press "end call" and start the phone... keep end call pressed) choose the option "USB flasher" (something like this.
With DFT (in admin) flash:
a/ a DFT build
b/ CWM
If CWM, boot in MAGLDR, choose "AD Recovery" (for CWM 1.13)
In CWM choose the option to flash a zip build.
That's all... good question, good answer.
All what I said if well expained in diffferent sticky. You will find there a lot of step-by-step or video explanations.
Hope this helps.
He doesn't need to clear the first-level bootloader. You can see from his screenshots that he gets into the bootloader just fine. Task29 will format the NAND storage just as flashing a WinMo ROM does. The RUU does a task29 as part of the flashing process anyway. Doing just a task29 saves the time of flashing the ROM.
Either way, you don't "flash" task29. You run the command via mtty. I'm not sure I understand exactly what you're saying when you "flash" task29 and it stayed at 0%.
What was the meaning of my "Fortunatly"
Clear the first level... brick the phone.
So for you task29 is equivalent to flashing a WM?
With or without radio?
(real question, I really don't know exactly what it's doing...)
I know that it "cleans" the NAND but it's not enough for me.
Anyway, I realize it will be better for me to read the dedicated thread or search on google.
For him I keep my advice to do all (task29, full flash from the beggining including WM). It's useless normally but as he has a problem...

ummm i dunno if magldr can switch you into the bootloader, but doesn't the regular way to get to the bootloader work?
regular way:
1. make sure phone is OFF...take out the battery and plug it back in to make sure
2. hold down the volume down button
3. tap the power/end call button to power on the device
4. keep holding down volume down button
...bootloader should appear!
i guess you are a senior member so you must be looking for something else, it can't be as simple as above, is it?

Mate,
how about flashing stock rom via SD? dont use your old sd, get the new one, and try to flash the stock rom.
If you can pass that, then you can go back to try magldr again
or else,
I think it may be a hardware issue related, may be the volume down button is damaged. If this the case, since you are in android nand, you cant flash stock rom from USB sync
I hope that is not the case though
goodluck

Hey blackashsid, sorry to hear you are having troubles. Without being able to get to the SPL bootloader you will not be able to flash any .nbh file to your HD2. This translates to you not being able to flash a Windows Mobile ROM stock or custom, a different radio version, splash screen, any HSPL or SPL, or cLK. And yes flashing via SD card is no good to you without the SPL bootloader.
Option #5 USB Flasher in MAGLDR will only flash CWM or A DAF ROM.
Your issue is somewhat strange to me, I really don't understand why you are having this issuer unless it is hardware related.

EDIT: also i noticed all of my DAF ANdroid ROMS get stuck at the splash screen...only WP7 made it !! i want android !
any reason why this happend ?
if you installed wp7 then it isnt an issue wth the phone, its quite possible the roms you are trying to install
Download again the rom you want to use... and make sure you read installing process - every android rom has his specific installing process - clockwork , ext3 ,ex4 etc etc.
I hope you solve your prolem

Guys I hagve been reading this site for 2 days and am still very very confused as to actually move forward.
Been following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=945427
Step by step even though there is no explaination as to why I do things And everytime I am thinking "do they mean i do this now???"
I mean a tutuorial for noobs should tell me this stuff????
So I got to here:
From the guide
5. install maglard 1.13 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893618
Run romupdateutility.exe as an admin and install
Now my phone not getting past HTC splash screen.
No numbers showing radio version or anything.
PLEASE - I am willing to take this step by step.., what is the next step I should take to get my phone working with a Android rom?
I thanks you in advance for any assitance. I am probably too frustrated to help myslef at this point. I have loaded custom firmwares on my iphones but this HTC process is doing my head in and the guides and youtube vids are not helping.
THE ONLY reason I am trying a new rom is I have a Telstra HD2 and not a Telstra sim. It seemed to want to use Telstra for data, and I was advised the easiest (ha!0 way to do this is get a cooked rom and load it.
Thanks for your help.

If the last step you took was to install magldr, of course your phone won´t boot, since you didn´t flash any build the phone could run on?
Or have i missed something?
Normaly, if you are setting things up to install some android build you have to run a file called daf.exe (only as an example, i´ve been flashing just one particular build with magldr), that daf.exe will partition the nand according to the needs of the build, that particular daf.exe was delivered with.
Now you have to enter "ad recovery" from the magldr menu (power on and keep power button pushed) and from there you would have to install from zip.
Have you been that far taking all the necessary steps? Leaving out the nand partitioning with the daf.exe is a common mistake i have read often about.
Thanks so much for those posts.
I think I have damaged the phone now trying things ..!
OK it has been 3 days and nights of trying stuff, let me try and summarise where I am at.
I managed to get magldr working, and used the menus to browse to a ZIP rom on the SD card and flashed it.
It was stuck in a continuous boot loop - see Andriod splash for about 10 secs, then reboot, repeats...
The best way forward from what I could read in threads was to just re install a stock ROM and start again, and try another cooked ROM. It was during this process that it failed, it now seems to have NO firmware on it, as I do not get any radio version numbers or anything.
NOW when I boot the phone - I cannot get magldr. It just goes to the white HTC splash screen and hangs forever.
Everything I try to flash now is stuck at 0% and never completed.
THE ONLY thing I seem to be able to install / get to talk to the HD2 is HSPL4, which when completed gives me the "WE HACKED IT" message. Apart from that I cannot install radios, roms or MAGLDR.
However the MAGLDR flash process DOES show 100% completion, I just cant get it to load by holding power button. As I mentioned above, I DID have MAGLDR working previously but wont play ball now.
Thanks for any tips, I think I need to not look at it for a while.
UPDATE = for some reason, it is now accepting the stock Telstra ROM flash process...?
STILL NO MAGICLDR so I cant load my cooked ROMS.. any suggestions are hugely appreciated.

Hi,
I would suggest KEVIN134's TOOLKIT (Don't forget to thank him)
Read the thread carefully and follow his step by step guide for beginners.
Try to install one of his suggested ROMS.You can always change it at a later date.
At least you will have something.
OK thanks. I have now gotten original Telstra ROM back. I hope to start fresh in the morning and follow your link to the letter. I hope it is a good guide for beginners, as so many other seem to claim that and have no plain english steps or screenshots. I truly appreciate your post, cheers.
Tried that app, it cannot find any of the apps it tries to install/use? Maybe I need sleep.

You are talking about HSPL4, i would suggest you use HSPL3 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6894936&postcount=2).
You know how to flash back to stock winmo? Hold the volume down button while turning on the phone to enter the boot loader, connect with USB and wait for confirmation on the screen below (serial changes to usb), and then flash the stock Rom.
I never used the toolkits, never needed them so i would propose the following steps for you, to start from scratch (so we can take it step by step together, i think we need to have the same base to be able to make a statement about your phone).
After flashing WinMo Stock Rom, install HSPL3 (the one in the linke above, HSPL3_PKG.exe).
Then use task29 to flash the 2.15.50.14 radio.
After that install MAGLDR113 and then, if i were you , i would install coredroid v1.6. (http://hotfile.com/dl/113345298/fb3f69b/HD2_Core_Droid_Desire_HD_V1.6_Release_Version.rar.html)
To do that, enter the magldr menu by keeping the power button pressed while turning on your phone, enter USB Flasher from the menu and after connection has been established, run the DAF.exe which will partition the NAND for you.
After that reboot into cwm, enter the usb mass storage option, copy the zip file on the sd card and from there install from zip.
This procedure has worked every single time for me, maybe it will for you, too?

Thanks for offering to walk me through this, you have saved my sanity.
OK I am back to stock WinMo Rom.
I have HSPL3 installed (not 4, 3 as you say).
"Then use task29 to flash the 2.15.50.14 radio"
You might have to explain this to my feeble mind. I thought task29 deleted all data? How would it upgrade the radio?
Thanks again

Task 29 can be used to flash the radio as well, so these two steps can be taken as one.
All you would have to do is copy the radio in the same directory as the rest (task29) and rename it to RUU_signed.nbh, so this procedure will install the new radio as well.
Take that one from here:

Thanks Cheech! OK gotta sleep but trying this 1st thing tomorrow, will report.

All right, have a good nights rest
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
Thanks for that extra step explained...
I have read the thread, and downloaded the ZIP that was linked that has task 29 and the radio together. About to do it now.
OK that has completed, and it has rebooted, and now shows the white screen with HTC green logo, and stays there. This right?
I think it is.. as I have now flashed MAGLDR 1.13. Am now downloading the rom you suggested
UPDATE: I am done.. your suggested rom is installed and working!!
I am so relieved.
FYI here are the last steps I took.
* Used the Task 29 and radio update instructions from the link.
Once that was done it was a white screen with HTC logo - I then rebooted into HSPL bootloader on HTC device.
* Flashed magldr 1.13 - was very quick.
THESE NEXT STEPS ARE FROM THE QWORD DOC INCLUDED IN THE RAR FILE FROM THE SUGGESTE ROM - great stuff this doco.
1. After downloading HD2 CoreDroid DHD V*.*.rar, extract it to a folder on your PC of your choice.
2. Turn your unplugged HD2 on and boot into the MAGLDR 1.13 menu by holding down the power (right) button after initial vibration.
3. Using volume down move to number 5. USB Flasher
4. Push call button (left) and enter the USB flasher screen. You will see “USB Flasher mode Wait USB…”
5. Plug USB cable into the HD2, you should now see “USB Flasher mode Wait USB… USB
6. Go to the extracted HD2 CoreDroid DHD *.* folder on PC, and execute the DAF.exe. On newer windows buttons, right click and run as administrator.
7. Press next twice, and the installation will begin.
8. When finished press finish.
9. After the installation your HD2 will reboot into MAGLDR 1.13 menu.
10. Using the volume down button move to down to number 8. AD Recovery and press call button (left).
11. Your unplugged HD2 will now boot into the ClockworkMod Recovery menu.
12. IF YOU DID NOT BACKUP YOU SDCARD DATA DO IT BEFORE YOU PROCEED IT WILL BE FORMATED.
13. With volume down button advance to the advanced menu press left button.
14. Advance down to Partition SD Card menu.
15. Select minimum (512m) maximum (1024m). Your choice which one to use. Recommended is the 1024m, then press call button (left).
16. Select the 0m with the call button (left).
17. Wait until the process is finished.
18. Do not reboot! Stay in the ClockworkMod Recovery.
19. When finished “done” will appear in the lower half of the screen.
20. Press right button.
21. Using Volume down button move to “-mounts and storage”
22. Press end button (right).
23. Move down to mount USB storage
24. Press call button (left).
25. A new drive should be mounted to your PC.
26. Navigate to MyComputer and open the new drive (ex: F: E: G: etc…)
27. Go to the HD2_Core_Droid_Desire_HD_V1.12 folder
28. Copy the HD2_Core_DroidDesire_HD_V1.12.zip to the HD2 sd card root (the new mounted drive ex: F.
29. When finished copying and unmounts is selected, press the call button (left).
30. Press the back button
31. Move down to “-install zip from sdcard”, and press call button (left).
32. Move down to “-choose zip from sdcard”, and press call button (left).
33. Select the CoreDroid_V*.*.zip, press left button
34. Wait till it´s finish flashing, you will then see a flashing “CoreDroid”. Flash options will reappear.
35. Push end button (right).
36. Select “Reboot system now”
37. Let HD2 reboot giving it time. Wait at least +/- 10 minutes.
Once the phone has booted, let the syncs take place, wait for about 20 minutes, then reboot.
Totally worked for me. i thought I had bricked, I though no roms would hold.... this was done in an hour!
Cheech, you are the man thanks so much.

Cheech your help was awesome, it has been your posts that meant I have had a phone for the past week.
Now not wanting to sound ungrateful, but I have to report that ROM you suggested runs really bad on my HD2. Very laggy, even to unlock the screen will hang 2 time out of 3. Oh well, I am starting to learn the same rom on the same hardware can act very differently.. sad face.
If I had to state the function I HAVE to have in my ROM it would be obviously good phone and text ability, music player with resume and bluetooth, a browser, email client, and something to play videos.
Is there a very lightweight ROM that will give me the above functions but maybe run a little better on my HTC HD2 (and are as easy to install as the one I have already tried)? Thanks heaps for any tips.
I jumped in, and using your great direction from before have a new rom on my HD2...
NexusHD2-Gingerbread_V2.8_NAND_(Android-2.3.4)_update
Wow, so much faster and snappier. Love the way Google resynced my apps and some settings!!
Gonna play with this for another few days.
EDIT: seems there is always something.. this ROM not finding my Wireless network. Finds all the ones around me but just wont find mine - even with apps to manage it. My kingdom for a lean ROM for my HD2!!!
Edit 2: Turns out Android 2.3 sets the WiFi channels to end at 11.
Our wireless was higher than that.
Advanced settings and increasing the WIFI channels to the full 14, saw my network straight away.
Took quite a bit of Googling to figure that one out.
Please delete.
