Memory bandwidth and theoretical bandwidth - Nexus S General

I'm trying to work out theoretical bandwidth for the nexus s . Firstly does anyone know how fast the memory is on the nexus s ? And is it single configuration or dual
I'm trying to work out theoretical bandwidth for a few socs... not sure if I worked this out correctly , would love some help if its wrong
1066mhz *32*2 =68224=8.5
Is the iPad 2 8.5gb/s
1066mhz *32 =34112=4.26
If so is tegra 3. 4.26gb/s
Or have I got that completely wrong

My GS3 wifi can't keep up with my internet

I have 75mbps FiOS, this is using 5Ghz N with 40Hz width
Anybody seen faster speeds?

Do u have any idea how fast that is for phone hardware. Never seen a phone test that fast.

I know I was half joking. It is quite nuts that the phone can handle that speed. I love it.

I wish I had those net speeds period... East Tennessee has a ways to go for net service... :-(

I do not think mine keeps up either.
The poor wifi speeds are fairly well documented in the AnandTech review.
It's interesting that the OneX / EvoLTE does better with the same chipset.

Try 20mhz channel and see if it changes. Also, speed test is not 100% accurate with connections over 20mbit according to them.
The results you posted seem to be within the expected range. What n router are you using? Not all n equipment is as fast as you think(well documented). What about channel saturation? Anyone else nearby using the same channels? Channel space is shared media. Many factors involved.
I would be satisfied with your results. Considering it is a phone, has ddr2 mem, a limited bus speed and width(compared to a pc), and probably a slower WiFi adapter than a pc, I wouldn't worry.

Tether speed extremely slow? (WiFi/USB/BT)

USB teher- doesn't function at all. No data ever transferred
Wifi- connects but doesn't transfer any data like USB
Bt- works but, data is slow ~20KB/sec
This is disappointing since I got MB regularly on my g1 despite the older radio... I'm going you guys have done experience with jelly bean and tethering.

Same here. I have problems with WiFi tethering using the stock option. I didn't try apps cause, last time I tried them (other android), they killed the battery.
Not a fan of Bluetooth, I expect it to have a bandwidth limitation, which would answer your question.
But we both share the need for wifi-based help
So I'd love some help too
TIA

Now BT tether has reached 170KB/sec which seems like the max. Though I would prefer at least 1MB.

Who can get more ram on Nexus 7? Tegra 3 Nexus!

Right now the max ram I have free is about ~400, I'm wondering if I can get up to ~600!!?
My ROM is smooth ROM and faux kernel... Any suggestions?

more ram
i get 522 - 550 by using dx toolbox.
what is the advantage of having 600mb free ram??
I have a nexus 4, which if you know has 2 gbs of ram. Never runs out although my nexus 7's ram drops quickly. More ram means snappier system... Just wanted suggestions on this

Android manages memory differently than a computer. An oft repeated mantra that holds true in this case is ”free ram is wasted ram.” Killing processes simply for the sake of increasing free ram is counterintuitive and only serves to reduce system efficiency.

Back in there day, there used to be a company that you could send your device to, they would desolder your memory and throw in a bigger/faster chip.
Dont know if they still do or the name.

Honestly 2 GB should be mandatory. Its what a couple extra dollars to the consumers...

This is correct. You are wasting your time worrying about whether you have 400 or 600 MB free. If you are completely running out and experiencing huge lags, then it's time to worry.

[Q] LTE advantage other than data speeds?

Is there any other advantage to using LTE (or pseudo-LTE ) if I'm not all that interested in the increase in data speeds on the Nexus 4?

its more consistant, doesnt bounce around to differnt signals as often. and upload speeds are huge. both those would probably mean better battery too.
Also, ping tends to be a lot better

(q) ram usage

I upgraded from the galaxy nexus to the g2 and what I can't figure out is what is using all the ran on the g2 I have the same apps on the g2 as I did on my gnex but on the g2 uses almost a gig of ram where as the gnex only used half of that with all the same apps the only difference is the ROM and kernel could it be one of them using all the ram
i can see many more differences between these two devices lol. resolution being the most obvious one.
ill try explain with an example. u have a small house and feel comfortable there. then on top of that u build a 4x bigger house. and you would still live only in the small house. wouldnt it be better to use parts of the bigger house aswell ?
and not only the house grew but you as well.

That's what I sorta figured
Thanks
That's what I sorta figured just wasn't sure
Thanks
yeah, nothing to worry about. 1gb used ram is pretty standard now.

The LG has 2GB of RAM, if your device uses 1.9GB, then start worrying. If it uses only half or 1.5GB, it is a good thing.
U know,g2 has a much better gpu, processor and resolution etc and does and handles everything better(while sacrificing ram usage)
