Hi guys,
I have a galaxy nexus and have been using CWM for a while. I just bought a Nexus 7 and love it, but I am unable to make a nandroid backup. Anytime I try I get the error "unable to locate android secure partition". Can anyone help me solve this?
Thanks!
I'm having the exact problem. Used nexus root toolkit v1.5.5 for rooting but I can not perform a backup.
"E: Unable to locate android secure partition."
Nexus 7 16 gb 4.1.2 JZO54K
Try "Fix permission" under advance options in TWRP.

using "fix permission" doesn't fix my problem. I do have this issue as well, and i also have the JZO54K build.
unlocked, rooted and all, but strangely, it doesn't want to do backup in TWRP. Hopefully this will be fixed soon, as i would like to create a recovery in case something go wrong on my Nexus 7...
I'm having the exact same issue, hopefully it will be resolved promptly, or at least investigated by the devs.
Try in twrp settings--->restore defaults this solved my problem

thanks!
This solved the problem for me too!!
I had the same problem, that fixed it for me too. Thanks!
I need a lot of help with my Nexus. I have been trying my best to root it but it won't work using the Nexus Root Toolkit. So I decided to go try rooting it manually. When I did that the same problem was coming up which is it wouldn't let me flash anything on the device to give me root access. I decided to follow a guide to bring the version down to an older version and start over from there which I tried doing manually using windows command prompts. It told me to erse boot, cache, recovery, system, and then to flash the downloaded bootloader and version of android. When I got to the point where I had to flash the new bootloader my device froze while my computer was sending the file over which is what it did every time I tried to flash or send a file to the device using fastboot. I paniced and tried again using the Root Toolkit. It wasn't working either. Now my device is saying 'Booting Failed' which I assume is because of the fastboot erasing commands I did before. I am panicing because the new bootloader is still not sending over and I've been waiting for the past 10 minutes. The file size is only (2072 KB), I don't think it should be taking this long. Can anyone help me please?

That's the guide I used to try and fix the first problem.

Ok. I used a super wipe script. Now my device has nothing but the boot loader and twrp is still installed. I was on the new ota 4.2.2. I also have 4.18 boot loader. I have no os and all of my backups are gone so I can't restore anything. How can I install this from a computer and push it to my device? I really need help. I'm not brand new. But I've never been in this situation. Thanks to anyone who can help make my device operable again.

If TWRP is installed and you can boot in TWRP, try to mount the usb and copy the backup to the device. I'm not sure, but you could use adb push in the recovery, too
Otherwise just boot into bootloader, flash the stock rom, boot, root, copy the backup on the sdcard, flash TWRP, restore it

The problem is I don't have the backup saved to a computer. It was only on the device. Now it's gone. And I don't understand what you mean by booting into bootloader and flashing the stock Rom. I'm so lost. Please continue to try to help me through this. Thank you

Follow this guide. It will get you back to stock.

I thought you had a backup on your PC, if not you will loose all your data
Do it like the guy above said, or just download the stock image (for your device) from here, extract everything and just run the flash-all.bat (if you are on windows). This will flash the stock rom so you should be able to boot your device again

It seems like for me downloading the stock image and running the flash all bat would be the best solution for my level of experience. I just don't know what you mean by running the flash all bat. Do I need sdk or something to do that? I need the most simple solution possible with my level of experience. But thanks a million.

No need to install anything! Just download the package for your device and extract it. Now open the archive and there is a file called flash-all.bat.
Now you hold power and volume down on your nexus 7 to get into fasboot mode (the bootloader). If you are there, plug the nexus via usb in your pc.
Now just double click the flash-all.bat and it will flash the stock rom
If this won't work, because windows can't detect the device, download the Nexus 7 Toolkit, install it and open it. There's an option to install the drivers

Thanks. I'll be doing this later. I'll let you know what happens. Will it put more on the 4.2.1 or 4.2.2? I really screwed up and didn't understand the op.

Ok. Can you post a link for the package for my device? Its a WiFi nexus 7. I can't find the toolkit. I'm so lost. I'm laughing at myself. You have to admit. It's funny when someone does something this stupid.

See the link I posted earlier, there you can find the 4.2.2 image for the nexus 7 wifi only (grouper/nakasi)
I'm on phone right now so I can't post the link, just search for nexus 7 toolkit on Google, or see the general/development section. It should be pinned there

Where should I put this package? And will flash all.bat do everything for me?

Just download it and extract it. Then you go in the extracted folder and you can see some files and the flash-all.bat. This will do everything for you. No need to place the package anywhere, just do it like I said and it should work. Try it

I'd like to say thank you for everyone he contributed for helping me do this. I followed the directions using the Nexus 7 toolkit and everything went well. I installed jelly bean 4.2 .1 and now I will use voodoo OT a route keeper in order to accept the update to 4.2 .2

So i took a shower, and i come back and see on my nexus 7 3g (GSM/HSPA+) a notification that says "update downloaded, touch here to reboot and install."
I did that.. and it rebooted to TWRP recovery.. then did nothing. I couldn't find anything to make it install, or even where it downloaded the update TO. Can someone help me? If i can update my system with this update and keep all my apps, i'd prefer to do that
if there's no way to get the update it supposedly downloaded to install, could someone point me to step by step instructions for bringing 4.2.2 to 4.3? someone pointed me to one.. but the OP said it was the software for the NEW nexus 7, not existing devices..
I need the bootloader, and radio, and the update itself.. maybe in flashable form? I'm confused.. Why'd they have to make a new nexus 7 now and make this confusing?
my p999 was easy, download a rom, flash it in recovery x.o
If the OTA Update is downloaded its probably inside the /cache folder.
Not sure about the data, but I think it will save it.

there are lots of flashable zips put there, but if you want a complete update you can use fastboot or nexus root toolkit which will do everything by itself...but you will lose your data

My brother has the Nexus 4 and has been on a custom ROM up until the KitKat release.
I used Wugfresh's toolkit to flash on the original factory image, unroot and I also relocked the boot loader.
Recently, 4.4.1 came out and he asked if I could help him put it on his phone. I did some searching, and read that I could use adb to sideload the ota.
Before using it on his phone, I used adb to sideload 4.4.1 on my nexus 5 which worked without a single hiccup.
However, when I proceeded to side load his, an error came up on the phone that said "E: error in /tmp/update.zip"
Could someone help me figure that out? I tried searching around but I couldn't really find anything useful. My brother, preferably wants to stay unrooted for the time being.

Try and redownload the OTA file but make sure its for the nexus 4. I had a friend that accidentally downloaded the zip for n7 and gave him an error.

I did try it for the nexus 4. I thought I hadn't, but it was right. I even tried some links from XDA in the nexus 4 forum as well, it didn't work.
I read somewhere that I need to re-flash the recovery.img? Would that fix it? If so, where can I find it?
